    I'm going create an open source Help desk solution free of charge for small to medium businesses to use. I'm currently working on the client application. I want to have a list of tickets that have been opened by the user. So it would be like a table TicketsByUser: Ticket Number | Type | Description | Date | Handled? 123456 | Hardware | My mouse broke | 10/20/2010 | No 123456 | Hardware | My mouse broke | 10/20/2010 | Yes I was thinking of using ListView because of it's name, but I have zero experience with it, so maybe it's not what I'm looking for. I'm going to be pulling the data from a WCF service which in turn pulls it from a MS SQL database.

  • How to include header files in Visual Studio 2008?

    I am currently trying to compile a simple program that includes two header files. I see them in the Solution Explorer, where I included them through "include existing files". However, when I run my program it get the following error. fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'FileWrite.h': No such file or directory. THe problem is that I see the file included in the Header's folder and in the code I have written: #include "FileWrite.h" and then the rest of the program code. Is there something else needed to do so that the compiler can see the header file and link it to the .cpp file I'm trying to compile?

  • What advantages can I get from learning C++ if I'm mainly a C# Programmer?

    Hello, Recently I've started to notice a lot of smirks and generally rude comments whenever I mention C#. Everyone I talk to either says learn Python or learn C++. Python is a nice language, I get it. But I don't find much use for it right now (for my use cases), and C++ I heard is a faster language (not sure). So my question is this, what advantage can I get from learning C++ (besides the knowledge and expansion of my horizons), when I mainly program in C#. If anyone can make a legitimate claim, I'll for sure look into learning the language because let's face it, I trust you guys. Thanks so much for all the help.

    I am using the function below to match URLs inside a given text and replace them for HTML links. The regular expression is working great, but currently I am only replacing the first match. How I can replace all the URL?     Hi, I had downloaded and installed the 1.6.9 version of SVN from http://subversion.tigris.org/. After the installation I noticed that if I launch the command "svn" from the terminal, my Mac still uses the old version, the 1.4.4. If i want to use the new version, I need to specify its path, like this: - /opt/subversion/bin/svn commit instead of: - svn commit There is a way to solve this problem and use the new version of the command without typing the entire path?   • Recommended learning path?

    First, my current standing: I know C++ at an.. advanced beginner level? I've gone through a book, I know the syntax well enough, I know a fair amount of standard library functions, and I've programmed some simple console stuff with it. I'd probably be able to program more with it if I knew how to structure a program, but I just can't seem to wrap my head around the whole concept of structuring something remotely complex. I've messed around with Java for a day or two, and the syntax was extremely easy to get the hang of, except that I didn't really know any functions. I'm plenty willing to learn, and to work hard to do so, but I don't really know where to go from here. Now, at the risk of sounding cliche, what I'd like to become is someone like the great three of id; Carmack, Romero, and Abrash. To be considered a genius. I believe anything can be learned, and nothing mentally limits anyone except lack of desire to learn. But I don't know how to learn this. They learned by doing, and making do with what resources they had. On the other hand, I have access to almost any books I want, access to the internet, and access to a more than capable computer and software. Should I learn more languages? Assembly? LISP? BASIC? Haskell? Should I dive straight into advanced topics like OpenGL? Or should I wait until I feel I've come closer to mastering the simpler things, like console programs, first? Should I follow tutorials? Should I follow books? Should I just dive into writing something and follow a reference manual as I go? What order should I do all this in? How should I do it? I want to completely master this; to be considered a genius. The most perfect career I can imagine is to start the next id. I have the drive to do it, I just don't know where to begin...

    I usually work with a svn repository located in my local office network. Sometimes, when I'm home, I need to connect to my office svn repository. The problem is that, when I'm in office, to reach the svn repo I use an internal LAN IP (like 192.168.1.200), but when I'm home the IP is different, because I reach the server from an externel connection. How can I set up svn to work from my home? Can someone help me? Thanks. Sergio

    CERN scientists dropped a press release today indicating they’ve found a particle consistent with the long sought after Higgs Boson particle–the “God” particle, that could help radically refine our understanding of Standard Model of Particle Physics. For years scientists at CERN have been harnessing the power of the Large Hadron Collider to answer fundamental questions about the nature of particles and the universe around us. In the above video John Ellis, a theoretical physicist, answers the question “What is the Higgs Boson?” The video pairs nicely with the CERN press release: “We observe in our data clear signs of a new particle, at the level of 5 sigma, in the mass region around 126 GeV. The outstanding performance of the LHC and ATLAS and the huge efforts of many people have brought us to this exciting stage,” said ATLAS experiment spokesperson Fabiola Gianotti, “but a little more time is needed to prepare these results for publication.” “The results are preliminary but the 5 sigma signal at around 125 GeV we’re seeing is dramatic. This is indeed a new particle.   • Once installed geos library (C++, and C), and then trying to install rgeos package (R), it reports geos-config missing!

    Knowing that the package rgeos, from the R language, requieres a prior installation of geos libraries, I installed, both, libgeos and libgeos-c1 (3.2.2), using the synaptic installer in my Ubuntu 12.04 (32 bit) machine. Then I tried to install rgeos directly from the R console, and it issued a message in the sense that geos-config was not found. I learnt, from another machine, that "geos-config" is an executable and that it should be installed in /usr/bin. Do you have any idea on what's wrong with my procedure? Thanks, -Sergio.

  • Is there a free XML viewer to do "pivot tables"

    I have an *.xml file on a PC running Windows XP, with a structure something like... <movies id="my movies" <movie name="Unforgiven" <people star="Clint Eastwood" director="Clint Eastwood"/> </movie> <movie name="A Fistful of Dollars" <people star="Clint Eastwood" director="Sergio Leone"/> </movie> <movie name="J Edgar" <people star="Leonardo DiCaprio" director="Clint Eastwood"/> </movie> </movies> I want to open this file in a viewer utility which will show one line per movie, filtered by a condition such as director="Clint Eastwood", including the relevant value for movie name on each line. Note - that's just an example. My actual file has thousands of lines, each possibly several hundred bytes long, and there are many more levels and named values. The important thing is I want to apply a filter for a specified value of some field at some level. And I want to see one line for every case where that value occurs, showing the values for any fields I specify, even if they're stored at higher levels. I may be mistaken in saying what I want is a "pivot table" - I don't know what I should call it.
