  • Listing an application's activity and intent-filters?

    I am interested in activating another application's activity. I know from reading the Android SDK that it's probably better to do this with an implicit intent. However, this activity doesn't reside in an application I own, so I don't know the action and category and data flags on the intent-filter. How can I examine an Android applications metadata like the activity classes and the intent-filters for those activities (if declared in the manifest)? Thanks!

  • Analyzing bitmaps produced by NSAffineTransform and CILineOverlay filters

    I am trying to manipulate an image using a chain of CIFilters, and then examine each byte of the resulting image (bitmap). Long term, I do not need to display the resulting image (bitmap) -- I just need to "analyze" it in memory. But near-term I am displaying it on screen, to help with debugging. I have some "bitmap examination" code that works as expected when examining the NSImage (bitmap representation) I use as my input (loaded from a JPG file into an NSImage). And it SOMETIMES works as expected when I use it on the outputBitmap produced by the code below. More specifically, when I use an NSAffineTransform filter to create outputBitmap, then outputBitmap contains the data I would expect. But if I use a CILineOverlay filter to create the outputBitmap, none of the bytes in the bitmap have any data in them. I believe both of these filters are working as expected, because when I display their results on screen (via outputImageView), they look "correct." Yet when I examine the outputBitmaps, the one created from the CILineOverlay filter is "empty" while the one created from NSAffineTransfer contains data. Furthermore, if I chain the two filters together, the final resulting bitmap only seems to contain data if I run the AffineTransform last. Seems very strange, to me??? My understanding (from reading the CI programming guide) is that the CIImage should be considered an "image recipe" rather than an actual image, because the image isn't actually created until the image is "drawn." Given that, it would make sense that the CIimage bitmap doesn't have data -- but I don't understand why it has data after I run the NSAffineTransform but doesn't have data after running the CILineOverlay transform? Basically, I am trying to determine if creating the NSCIImageRep (ir in the code below) from the CIImage (myResult) is equivalent to "drawing" the CIImage -- in other words if that should force the bitmap to be populated? If someone knows the answer to this please let me know -- it will save me a few hours of trial and error experimenting! Finally, if the answer is "you must draw to a graphics context" ... then I have another question: would I need to do something along the lines of what is described in the Quartz 2D Programming Guide: Graphics Contexts, listing 2-7 and 2-8: drawing to a bitmap graphics context? That is the path down which I am about to head ... but it seems like a lot of code just to force the bitmap data to be dumped into an array where I can get at it. So if there is an easier or better way please let me know. I just want to take the data (that should be) in myResult and put it into a bitmap array where I can access it at the byte level. And since I already have code that works with an NSBitmapImageRep, unless doing it that way is a bad idea for some reason that is not readily apparent to me, then I would prefer to "convert" myResult into an NSBitmapImageRep.   • how to add multiple filters to pagination?

    Hey, I am trying to allow multiple filters to be selected for my pagination script. So in my pagination, when a user clicks the 'marketing' button(link) it queries the database just for the category that = marketing. The same goes for the other 2 filter buttons as seen in the script below. (automotive, sports). The problem is, I want to be able to select multiple filters like only marketing and auomotive or automotive and sports, for example if I click the marketing filter and then the automotive, it would display the categories that equal marketing, and automotive. I have no idea how to accomplish this, so I have come to the experts to help me out.   • Java EE 6 - ordering Servlet Request Listeners

    Hi all, I finally updated to Java EE 6 (web profile) and would like to control the ordering of my servlet request listeners. I did that before through the XML ordering by listing the listeners in a particular order. Now, I have placed the @WebListener annotation on the classes which are listeners and am trying to figure out how to order the listeners such that they work properly. One must run before another one, otherwise, it won't have the information it needs and won't work. Also, it doesn't seem my listeners are actually being invoked even though they're marked with @WebListener. I am running embedded glassfish 3.0. Another question that is somewhat related - ServletRequestListeners in Java EE 6 by default are still synchronous meaning they're hit first, then servlet filters, right? ServletRequestListeners are not asynchronous where they merely get notified of an event without interrupting the execution? Walter

  • Problem deploying GWT project with a servlet that invoke an EJB

    I have a simple GWT project in Eclipse, it has a servlet that calls an EJB and everything works fine when I run it in hosted mode from Eclipse. MyProject +- src +- JRE System Library +- GWT SDK +- Apache Geronimo v2.2 +- myEJB.jar +- openejb.jar -- war -- +- images -- +- myproject -- +- WEB-INF I'm not sure what is the best way to deploy it, but what I did is create a .war file from the "war" folder of the project then deploy it to the server. Communication between client and server works fine but I get an error when I try to do JNDI look up for the EJB within the servlet. The error I get is something like "JNDI error, cannot find FooManagerRemote" Things works fine in hosted mode so I'm pretty sure that I din't deploy it correctly.

    I have been told to update some application from Spring 2.0.8 to Spring 2.5.5. This application is using Struts 1.2.7. Once I change the Spring.jar I get the following exception while loading in JBoss 4.0.5: 10:14:57,579 ERROR [[/PortalRRHH]] Servlet /PortalRRHH threw load() exception javax.servlet.UnavailableException: org.springframework.web.struts.DelegatingTilesRequestProcessor This is defined in the struts-config.xml this way: <controller locale="true"> <set-property property="processorClass" value="org.springframework.web.struts.DelegatingTilesRequestProcessor"/> </controller> I have no clue of what is happening since it works with the old version of Spring and the DelegatingTilesRequestProcessor is still available in Spring 2.5.5. I have no previous experience with Struts so if you need anything else to figure what the problem is please ask and I will update the question. Thanks.

    Good evening, I am in the process of writing a Java Servlet (Struts 2, Tomcat, JSP etc) which is capable of doing some fairly complex simulations. These can take up to 2 minutes to complete on the and will return a graph of the results. It is trivial to calculate the percentage of the simulation completed because the process works by repeating the same calculations 1000s of times. I would be interested to know if anyone has ever tried to use client side technology to provide any estimate of the percentage complete. I.e query the servlet processing to get the number of cycles completed at various point throughout the simulation. This could then be displayed as a bar in the client browser. Any thoughts, advice, resources would be much appreciated. Thanks, Alex

    I have a servlet. But it is not working as desired. Hence for debugging purposes, I want to print statements to the java console(the one that can be opened using the java icon in taskbar). However, if I use System.out.println("message"), it doesnt display in java console. Is there any alternative way where I can display messages to the console from the servlet? Or can anyone suggest me an alternative way to display messages to any other console?

    I realise there are EL and near EL frameworks like StringTemplate, JUEL, Velocity, etc. However, I am not asking for list of alternatives to JSTL/EL. I came across a package more than a year ago, someone who wrote a util that emulates the functionality of JSP for non-servlet env, i.e., JSP composition which does not need a "servlet container" to function. I ignored it and now I think it would be helpful to me and I need help to recall what it is. My actual motivation is similar to what StringTemplate, JUEL, Velocity would offer to help me compose SQL blocks, HTML blocks but I am thinking that JSPs are precompiled into bytecode and JSPs are more run-time efficient since run-time parsing is done no more than once. So actually, recommendation for alternatives would be acceptable as long as the templates are precompiled into bytecode. But I still prefer the JSP emulator.

  • How to use a servlet to repsond to a request for an object

    I'm sure this is easy, but I don't work with website development very often and I'm lost on this one. I have a web application that needs to support multiple clients with different settings, icons and other content. The contents of these files are in separate directories for each client. What I would like to do is respond to a request sent to a jsp/java servlet. The servlet will look up the proper folder location in a database (I have the database stuff working) and send the actual object to the requesting page whether it is xml, graphic or video. How do I do that? What methods should I be using. Help I'm lost! :(
