  • iPhone Store Kit returning invalid product ID errors

    - by EToreo
    Hello, I am trying to test In App Purchases on my iPhone and running into a problem where the product IDs I request information for end up being returned to me as invalid product IDs in the "didRecieveResponse" method. I have: Created an in store product associated with this app. It's bundle ID matches everything else. It has been cleared for sale and approved by the developer. Made sure my new provisioning profile has in store app purchases enabled and it has the full app name: "com.domain.appname" Made sure this is the provisioning profile being used to sign the app to my iPhone. Made sure that "com.domain.appname" is the app ID used to build the provisioning profile. Made sure that "com.domain.appname" is used in my plist file as the bundle identifier. Everything seems to be in place, however I still get my products returned to me as invalid IDs. This is the code I am using: - (void)requestProductData { SKProductRequest *request = [[SKProductsRequest alloc] initWithProductIdentifiers: [NSSet setWithObject: @"com.domain.appname.productid"]]; request.delegate = self; [request start]; } - (void)productsRequest:(SKProductsRequest *)request didReceiveResponse:(SKProductsResponse *)response { NSArray *myProducts = response.products; NSArray *myInvalidProducts = response.invalidProductIdentifiers; for(int i = 1; i < myInvalidProducts.count; ++i) { std::cout <<"invalid product id = " << [[myInvalidProducts objectAtIndex:i] UTF8String] << std::endl; } for(int i = 0; i < myProducts.count; ++i) { SKProduct * myProduct = [myProducts objectAtIndex:i]; std::cout << "Product Info:" << std::endl; std::cout << "\tlocalizedTitle = " << [[myProduct localizedTitle] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tlocalizedDescription = " << [[myProduct localizedDescription] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tproductIdentifier = " << [[myProduct productIdentifier] UTF8String] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tprice = " << [[myProduct price] doubleValue] << std::endl; std::cout << "\tpriceLocale = " << [myProduct priceLocale] << std::endl; } [request autorelease]; } All my product IDs show up in the invalid printouts and none of them show up in the "Product Info:" printouts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... P.S. Yes, this is built as Objective-c/c++.

  • EXC_BAD_ACCESS in CFAttributedStringSetAttribute and NSNumber?

    - by RichardR
    Hi all, I am getting an infuriating EXC_BAD_ACCESS error in an objective c app I am working on. Any help you could offer would be much appreciated. I have tried the normal debug methods for this error (turning on NSZombieEnabled, checking retain/release/autorelease to make sure I'm not trying to access a deallocated object, etc.) and it hasn't seemed to help. Basically, the error always occurs in this function: ` void op_TJ(CGPDFScannerRef scanner, void *info) { PDFPage *self = info; CGPDFArrayRef array; NSMutableString *tempString = [NSMutableString stringWithCapacity:1]; NSMutableArray *kernArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:1]; if(!CGPDFScannerPopArray(scanner, &array)) { [kernArray release]; return; } for(size_t n = 0; n < CGPDFArrayGetCount(array); n += 2) { if(n >= CGPDFArrayGetCount(array)) continue; CGPDFStringRef pdfString; // if we get a PDF string if (CGPDFArrayGetString(array, n, &pdfString)) { //get the actual string const unsigned char *charstring = CGPDFStringGetBytePtr(pdfString); //add this string to our temp string [tempString appendString:[NSString stringWithCString:(const char*)charstring encoding:[self pageEncoding]]]; //NSLog(@"string: %@", tempString); //get the space after this string CGPDFReal r = 0; if (n+1 < CGPDFArrayGetCount(array)) { CGPDFArrayGetNumber(array, n+1, &r); // multiply by the font size CGFloat k = r; k = -k/1000 * self.tmatrix.a * self.fontSize; CGFloat kKern = self.kern * self.tmatrix.a; k = k + kKern; // add the location and kern to the array NSNumber *tempKern = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:k]; NSLog(@"tempKern address: %p", tempKern); [kernArray addObject:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:[NSNumber numberWithInt:[tempString length] - 1], tempKern, nil]]; } } } // create an attribute string CFMutableAttributedStringRef attString = CFAttributedStringCreateMutable(kCFAllocatorDefault, 10); CFAttributedStringReplaceString(attString, CFRangeMake(0, 0), (CFStringRef)tempString); //apply overall kerning NSNumber *tkern = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:self.kern * self.tmatrix.a * self.fontSize]; CFAttributedStringSetAttribute(attString, CFRangeMake(0, CFAttributedStringGetLength(attString)), kCTKernAttributeName, (CFNumberRef)tkern); //apply individual kern attributes for (NSArray *kernLoc in kernArray) { NSLog(@"kern location: %i, %i", [[kernLoc objectAtIndex:0] intValue],[[kernLoc objectAtIndex:1] floatValue]); CFAttributedStringSetAttribute(attString, CFRangeMake([[kernLoc objectAtIndex:0] intValue], 1), kCTKernAttributeName, (CFNumberRef)[kernLoc objectAtIndex:1]); } CFAttributedStringReplaceAttributedString([self cfAttString], CFRangeMake(CFAttributedStringGetLength([self cfAttString]), 0), attString); //release CFRelease(attString); [kernArray release]; } ` The program always crashes because of line CFAttributedStringSetAttribute(attString, CFRangeMake([[kernLoc objectAtIndex:0] intValue], 1), kCTKernAttributeName, (CFNumberRef)[kernLoc objectAtIndex:1]) And it seems to depend on a few things: if [kernLoc objectAtIndex:1] refers to an [NSNumber numberWithFloat:k] where k = 0 (in other words, if k = 0 above where I populate kernArray) then the program crashes almost immediately If I comment out the line k = k + kKern, it takes longer for the program to crash, but does eventually (why would the crash depend on this value?) If I change the length of CFRangeMake from 1 to 0, it takes a lot longer for the program to crash, but still eventually does. (I don't think I am trying to access beyond the bounds of attString, but am I missing something?) When it crashes, I get something similar to: #0 0x942c7ed7 in objc_msgSend () #1 0x00000013 in ?? () #2 0x0285b827 in CFAttributedStringSetAttribute () #3 0x0000568f in op_TJ (scanner=0x472a590, info=0x4a32320) at /Users/Richard/Desktop/AppTest/PDFHighlight 2/PDFScannerOperators.m:251 Any ideas? It seems like somewhere along the way I am overwriting memory or trying to access memory that has been changed, but I have no idea. If there's anymore information I can provide, please let me know. Thanks, Richard

  • Memory Troubles with UIImagePicker

    - by Dan Ray
    I'm building an app that has several different sections to it, all of which are pretty image-heavy. It ties in with my client's website and they're a "high-design" type outfit. One piece of the app is images uploaded from the camera or the library, and a tableview that shows a grid of thumbnails. Pretty reliably, when I'm dealing with the camera version of UIImagePickerControl, I get hit for low memory. If I bounce around that part of the app for a while, I occasionally and non-repeatably crash with "status:10 (SIGBUS)" in the debugger. On low memory warning, my root view controller for that aspect of the app goes to my data management singleton, cruises through the arrays of cached data, and kills the biggest piece, the image associated with each entry. Thusly: - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. [super didReceiveMemoryWarning]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Low Memory Warning" message:@"Cleaning out events data" delegate:nil cancelButtonTitle:@"All right then." otherButtonTitles:nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; NSInteger spaceSaved; DataManager *data = [DataManager sharedDataManager]; for (Event *event in data.eventList) { spaceSaved += [(NSData *)UIImagePNGRepresentation(event.image) length]; event.image = nil; spaceSaved -= [(NSData *)UIImagePNGRepresentation(event.image) length]; } NSString *titleString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"Saved %d on event images", spaceSaved]; for (WondrMark *mark in data.wondrMarks) { spaceSaved += [(NSData *)UIImagePNGRepresentation(mark.image) length]; mark.image = nil; spaceSaved -= [(NSData *)UIImagePNGRepresentation(mark.image) length]; } NSString *messageString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"And total %d on event and mark images", spaceSaved]; NSLog(@"%@ - %@", titleString, messageString); // Relinquish ownership any cached data, images, etc that aren't in use. } As you can see, I'm making a (poor) attempt to eyeball the memory space I'm freeing up. I know it's not telling me about the actual memory footprint of the UIImages themselves, but it gives me SOME numbers at least, so I can see that SOMETHING'S happening. (Sorry for the hamfisted way I build that NSLog message too--I was going to fire another UIAlertView, but realized it'd be more useful to log it.) Pretty reliably, after toodling around in the image portion of the app for a while, I'll pull up the camera interface and get the low memory UIAlertView like three or four times in quick succession. Here's the NSLog output from the last time I saw it: 2010-05-27 08:55:02.659 EverWondr[7974:207] Saved 109591 on event images - And total 1419756 on event and mark images wait_fences: failed to receive reply: 10004003 2010-05-27 08:55:08.759 EverWondr[7974:207] Saved 4 on event images - And total 392695 on event and mark images 2010-05-27 08:55:14.865 EverWondr[7974:207] Saved 4 on event images - And total 873419 on event and mark images 2010-05-27 08:55:14.969 EverWondr[7974:207] Saved 4 on event images - And total 4 on event and mark images 2010-05-27 08:55:15.064 EverWondr[7974:207] Saved 4 on event images - And total 4 on event and mark images And then pretty soon after that we get our SIGBUS exit. So that's the situation. Now my specific questions: THE time I see this happening is when the UIPickerView's camera iris shuts. I click the button to take the picture, it does the "click" animation, and Instruments shows my memory footprint going from about 10mb to about 25mb, and sitting there until the image is delivered to my UIViewController, where usage drops back to 10 or 11mb again. If we make it through that without a memory warning, we're golden, but most likely we don't. Anything I can do to make that not be so expensive? Second, I have NSZombies enabled. Am I understanding correctly that that's actually preventing memory from being freed? Am I subjecting my app to an unfair test environment? Third, is there some way to programmatically get my memory usage? Or at least the usage for a UIImage object? I've scoured the docs and don't see anything about that.

  • How to animate an non-closed path with CAShapeLayer?

    - by mystify
    On GitHub you can find an example for CAShapeLayer which animates an path. It animates a pentagon turning into a star. First: This works only in the iPhone simulator. OS 3.0 on the device shows serious bugs with this code. But I can't find anything wrong in there. However, I tried to animate an path which is not closed. To put it simply: A few straight lines. Is there anything special I must do to get this work properly on the device? - (void)loadView { UIView *appView = [[UIView alloc] initWithFrame:[[UIScreen mainScreen] bounds]]; appView.backgroundColor = [UIColor blackColor]; self.view = appView; [appView release]; rootLayer = [CALayer layer]; rootLayer.frame = self.view.bounds; [self.view.layer addSublayer:rootLayer]; //Pentagon Path pentagonPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 10.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 100.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 110.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 120.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 130.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 310.0f, 270.0f); //CGPathCloseSubpath(pentagonPath); //Star Path starPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(starPath, nil, 10.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 100.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 210.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 220.0f, 260.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 230.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 310.0f, 270.0f); //CGPathCloseSubpath(starPath); //Create Shape shapeLayer = [CAShapeLayer layer]; //shapeLayer.path = pentagonPath; UIColor *col = [UIColor colorWithWhite:0.9 alpha:1.0]; //shapeLayer.fillColor = col.CGColor; shapeLayer.strokeColor = col.CGColor; shapeLayer.lineWidth = 3.0f; // shapeLayer.contents = [UIImage imageNamed:@"test.png"]; shapeLayer.fillRule = kCAFillRuleEvenOdd; [rootLayer addSublayer:shapeLayer]; [self performSelector:@selector(startAnimation) withObject:nil afterDelay:1.0]; } -(void)startAnimation { CABasicAnimation *animation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"path"]; animation.duration = 2.0; animation.timingFunction = [CAMediaTimingFunction functionWithName:kCAMediaTimingFunctionEaseInEaseOut]; animation.repeatCount = 1e100f; animation.autoreverses = YES; animation.fromValue = (id)pentagonPath; animation.toValue = (id)starPath; [shapeLayer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"animatePath"]; } Note this lines, where I just make straight lines with a small peak which is animated: //Pentagon Path pentagonPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 10.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 100.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 110.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 120.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 130.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(pentagonPath, nil, 310.0f, 270.0f); //CGPathCloseSubpath(pentagonPath); //Star Path starPath = CGPathCreateMutable(); CGPathMoveToPoint(starPath, nil, 10.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 100.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 210.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 220.0f, 260.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 230.0f, 270.0f); CGPathAddLineToPoint(starPath, nil, 310.0f, 270.0f); I don't want a closed and filled path, but only simple lines with some color and thickness. The nasty thing on the device is, that the first point seems to move towards the right side of the screen for no reason. On the simulator though, it works perfectly fine. Maybe something is wrong with this setup?

  • Exposing model object using bindings in custom NSCell of NSTableView

    - by Hooligancat
    I am struggling trying to perform what I would think would be a relatively common task. I have an NSTableView that is bound to it's array via an NSArrayController. The array controller has it's content set to an NSMutableArray that contains one or more NSObject instances of a model class. What I don't know how to do is expose the model inside the NSCell subclass in a way that is bindings friendly. For the purpose of illustration, we'll say that the object model is a person consisting of a first name, last name, age and gender. Thus the model would appear something like this: @interface PersonModel : NSObject { NSString * firstName; NSString * lastName; NSString * gender; int * age; } Obviously the appropriate setters, getters init etc for the class. In my controller class I define an NSTableView, NSMutableArray and an NSArrayController: @interface ControllerClass : NSObject { IBOutlet NSTableView * myTableView; NSMutableArray * myPersonArray; IBOutlet NSArrayController * myPersonArrayController; } Using Interface Builder I can easily bind the model to the appropriate columns: myPersonArray --> myPersonArrayController --> table column binding This works fine. So I remove the extra columns, leaving one column hidden that is bound to the NSArrayController (this creates and keeps the association between each row and the NSArrayController) so that I am down to one visible column in my NSTableView and one hidden column. I create an NSCell subclass and put the appropriate drawing method to create the cell. In my awakeFromNib I establish the custom NSCell subclass: PersonModel * aCustomCell = [[[PersonModel alloc] init] autorelease]; [[myTableView tableColumnWithIdentifier:@"customCellColumn"] setDataCell:aCustomCell]; This, too, works fine from a drawing perspective. I get my custom cell showing up in the column and it repeats for every managed object in my array controller. If I add an object or remove an object from the array controller the table updates accordingly. However... I was under the impression that my PersonModel object would be available from within my NSCell subclass. But I don't know how to get to it. I don't want to set each NSCell using setters and getters because then I'm breaking the whole model concept by storing data in the NSCell instead of referencing it from the array controller. And yes I do need to have a custom NSCell, so having multiple columns is not an option. Where to from here? In addition to the Google and StackOverflow search, I've done the obligatory walk through on Apple's docs and don't seem to have found the answer. I have found a lot of references that beat around the bush but nothing involving an NSArrayController. The controller makes life very easy when binding to other elements of the model entity (such as a master/detail scenario). I have also found a lot of references (although no answers) when using Core Data, but Im not using Core Data. As per the norm, I'm very grateful for any assistance that can be offered!

  • Adding sections to a plist for Xcode for use in Cocoa touch Table View

    - by Steve
    I am a beginning iPhone SDK programmer. I built a simple practice application I am trying to use to learn more about table views. It's an app that loads football teams from a plist and displays them in a table view with their stadium name and logo. Tapping the team goes to a detail view for that team. I am trying to understand how to add sections to this, so that I might have a couple of teams in one section and others in another section, etc. I would assume I need to both re-structure my plist and change the code to read arrays from the different levels of the plist? To begin, I had a plist with the root array consisting of 3 dictionaries, one for each team. Each dictionary had 3 keys, "name" "stadium" and "logo". This works fine. I am loading it via: NSString *path = [[NSBundle mainBundle] pathForResource:@"teams" ofType:@"plist"]; teams = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithContentsOfFile:path]; and then // Configure the cell. NSDictionary *team = [teams objectAtIndex:indexPath.row]; cell.textLabel.text = [team objectForKey:@"name"]; NSString *imgPath = [team valueForKey:@"logo"]; cell.imageView.image = [UIImage imageNamed:imgPath]; cell.detailTextLabel.text =[team objectForKey:@"stadium"]; return cell; No problem. But now I wanted the sections, so I changed my plist to: <array> <dict> <key>teams 1</key> <array> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Packers</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Lambeau Field</string> <key>logo</key> <string>packers.jpg</string> </dict> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Jets</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Giants Stadium</string> <key>logo</key> <string>jets_logo.jpg</string> </dict> </array> </dict> <dict> <key>teams 2</key> <array> <dict> <key>name</key> <string>Cincinnati Bengals</string> <key>stadium</key> <string>Paul Brown Stadium</string> <key>logo</key> <string>bengals.jpg</string> </dict> </array> </dict> And I am unsure how to modify the viewDidLoad to assign the sections to one NSArray and the teams "level" to another array.

  • NSMutableString leaks on append or replaceOccurrencesOfString

    - by John
    Hello Folks, I know similar questions have been asked time and time again but I ask that you please bear with me as I cannot seem to find an answer that helps. My application has leaks that are driving me out of my mind. Actually, they are not reported as leaks using Leaks, but my net bytes in ObjectAlloc goes up and up and up and never stops, eventually leading to a crash if it goes on long enough (not very long). The problem occurs with NSMutableStrings. I think there is either something fundamental I don't understand about them, or I am facing another problem that I am having difficulty tracking down but keeps hiding behind the NSMutableStrings. Specifically, I am noticing that whenever I append to or perform a replace on a NSMutableString, ObjectAlloc reports what appear to be mismatches in malloc/frees behind the scene when resizing the NSMutableString. I'm sorry to say this is the second time I'm facing this problem - the first time I messed around for hours and hours and finally the problem went away (magic!) but I don't really know why. When I look at the code below (and believe me, I've stared at it for hours) I cannot see the problem. I look at the code and think to myself that I should be fine because I'm releasing the only object for which I am responsible (aString) and that NSMutableString should be taking care of cleaning up after any resizing it does. In the second example, just so you know in case it helps, the string being passed in comes from an ASIHTTPRequest object (it's the responseString) and I don't do anything at all with it. It's being called simply like so ([self DoStuff2:[request responseString]]) and I don't free the request myself either (I'm using a ASINetworkQueue and I assume that the requests are destroyed for me (I tried and caused errors because the request was already being release somewhere else). Also, I know it shouldn't do anything, but I even tried wrapping the code in autorelease pools, which of course did nothing. I should mention that this code is being run inside of an NSOperation. I thought that perhaps I am experiencing problems because NSOperations should create an autorelease pool for themselves, but I've tried that to no avail. Not related to NSMutableString, but I find I also have similar problems using the NSString componentsSeparatedByString method. Sometimes the memory used by the array that gets the separated components is never released. Hmmm...strings in general seem to be somewhat problematic for me it seems. I would appreciate ANY help anyone can provide. If you require more info, I'll be glad to add it. I do promise you that I've struggled with this (and other problems) for weeks and every problem I encounter I research hard and long until I find a solution - this is not an idle request, but a true cry for help! I've written so much code and now I'm trying to seal some small leaks etc and I notice this problem. Honestly, I cannot believe how memory management in Objective C can stump me so at times...I've read Apple's memory mgmt docs many times and I thought I thoroughly understood it and I try to be diligent about releasing objects I own, but sometimes I find myself wondering if I truly understand...I would like to put this to bed once and make sure I understand all this fully - to have this sort of question/problem after writing thousands of lines of code is more than a little scary/embarrassing/annoying. So again, if anybody has any insight, I'd be grateful. Thanks for your time and efforts. -(void)DoStuff { NSString *aString [ [[NSString alloc] initWithFormat:@"text %@ more text", self.strVariable]; [self.someMutableStringVar replaceOccurrencesOfString:@"replace" withString:aString options:NSCaseInsensitiveSearch range:NSMakeRange(0, [self.someMutableStringVar length])]; [aString release]; } -(void)DoStuff2:(NSString *)aString { [self.someMutableStringVar appendString:aString]; }

  • Getting Custom NSCell with NSButtonCell instance to handle mouse click/mouse events

    - by sidha
    OK I'm really stumped on this one. I want to make a checkbox with a NSTextFieldCell combined together. It's important that the checkbox goes ON if the mouse hits the box, NOT the text. I've accomplished this, more or less, but the issue is receiving the mouse event because I click one checkbox in a row, but ALL of them turn to NSOnState. I will show what I've done and my various failed attempts in order to get this to work. So this is how I've done it so far: header: @interface MyCheckboxCellToo : NSTextFieldCell { NSButtonCell *_checkboxCell; } implementation: - (NSUInteger)hitTestForEvent:(NSEvent *)event inRect:(NSRect)cellFrame ofView:(NSView *)controlView { NSPoint point = [controlView convertPoint:[event locationInWindow] fromView:nil]; NSLog(@"%@", NSStringFromPoint(point)); NSRect checkFrame; NSDivideRect(cellFrame, &checkFrame, &cellFrame, cellFrame.size.height/*3 + [[_checkboxCell image] size].width*/, NSMinXEdge); if (NSMouseInRect(point, checkFrame, [controlView isFlipped])) { // the checkbox, or the small region around it, was hit. so let's flip the state NSCellStateValue checkState = ([_checkboxCell state] == NSOnState) ? NSOffState:NSOnState; [self setState:checkState]; [_checkboxCell setState:checkState]; [controlView setNeedsDisplay:YES]; return NSCellHitTrackableArea; } return [super hitTestForEvent:event inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView]; } I know I probably shouldn't be doing: [self setState:checkState]; [_checkboxCell setState:checkState]; [controlView setNeedsDisplay:YES]; in there... because the result is that EVERY checkbox in every goes to NSOnState. Is this because cells are re-used? How come the ImageAndTextCell can have different images in the same tableview? How do I handle the mouse event? I have tried: - (BOOL)trackMouse:(NSEvent *)theEvent inRect:(NSRect)cellFrame ofView:(NSView *)controlView untilMouseUp:(BOOL)untilMouseUp { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, theEvent); return [_checkboxCell trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; // return YES; // return [super trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; } - (BOOL)startTrackingAt:(NSPoint)startPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, NSStringFromPoint(startPoint)); return [super startTrackingAt:startPoint inView:controlView]; } - (BOOL)continueTracking:(NSPoint)lastPoint at:(NSPoint)currentPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView { NSLog(@"%s %@", _cmd, NSStringFromPoint(currentPoint)); return [super continueTracking:lastPoint at:currentPoint inView:controlView]; } - (void)stopTracking:(NSPoint)lastPoint at:(NSPoint)stopPoint inView:(NSView *)controlView mouseIsUp:(BOOL)flag { NSLog(@"%s %d %@", _cmd, flag, NSStringFromPoint(stopPoint)); } trackMouse: ... DOES gets called but startTrackingAt:..., continueTracking:..., and stopTracking:.... DO NOT get called when I click on the checkbox "hit area" in trackMouse:... I have tried return [_checkboxCell trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; and return [super trackMouse:theEvent inRect:cellFrame ofView:controlView untilMouseUp:untilMouseUp]; and neither seems to result in the mouse event being handled by the checkbox. How do I get that single checkbox to go NSOnState? I know I'm pretty close but after a lot of doc reading and google searching I haven't been successful at solving this. suggestions and comments welcome.. OK here is a bit more to show creation and destruction of the object.. - (id)init { if ((self = [super init])) { _checkboxCell = [[NSButtonCell alloc] init]; [_checkboxCell setButtonType:NSSwitchButton]; [_checkboxCell setTitle:@""]; [_checkboxCell setTarget:self]; [_checkboxCell setImagePosition:NSImageLeft]; [_checkboxCell setControlSize:NSRegularControlSize]; } return self; } - copyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { MyCheckboxCellToo *cell = (MyCheckboxCellToo *)[super copyWithZone:zone]; cell->_checkboxCell = [_checkboxCell copyWithZone:zone]; return cell; } - (void)dealloc { [_checkboxCell release]; [super dealloc]; }

  • uiscrollview not switching image subviews

    - by nickthedude
    I'm building a comic viewer app, that consists of two view controllers, the root viewcontroller basically displays a view where a user decides what comic they want to read by pressing a button. The second viewController actually displays the comic as a uiscrollview with a toolbar and a title at the top. So the problem I am having is that the comic image panels themselves are not changing from whatever the first comic you go to if you select another comic after viewing the first one. The way I set it up, and I admit it's not exactly mvc, so please don't hate, anyway the way I set it up is each comic uiscrollview consists of x number of jpg images where each comic set's image names have a common prefix and then a number like 'funny1.jpg', 'funny2.jpg', 'funny3.jpg' and 'soda1.jpg', 'soda2.jpg', 'soda3.jpg', etc... so when a user selects a comic to view in the root controller it makes a call to the delegate and sets ivars on instances of the comicviewcontroller that belongs to the delegate (mainDelegate.comicViewController.property) I set the number of panels in that comic, the comic name for the title label, and the image prefix. The number of images changes(or at least the number that you can scroll through), and the title changes but for some reason the images are the same ones as whatever comic you clicked on initially. I'm basing this whole app off of the 'scrolling' code sample from apple. I thought if I added a viewWillAppear:(BOOL) animated call to the comicViewController everytime the user clicked the button that would fix it but it didn't, after all that is where the scrollview is laid out. Anyway here is some code from each of the two controllers: RootController: -(IBAction) launchComic2{ AppDelegate *mainDelegate = [(AppDelegate *) [UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; mainDelegate.myViewController.comicPageCount = 3; mainDelegate.myViewController.comicTitle.text = @"\"Death by ETOH\""; mainDelegate.myViewController.comicImagePrefix = @"etoh"; [mainDelegate.myViewController viewWillAppear:YES]; [mainDelegate.window addSubview: mainDelegate.myViewController.view]; comicViewController: -(void) viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated { self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor viewFlipsideBackgroundColor]; // 1. setup the scrollview for multiple images and add it to the view controller // // note: the following can be done in Interface Builder, but we show this in code for clarity [scrollView1 setBackgroundColor:[UIColor whiteColor]]; [scrollView1 setCanCancelContentTouches:NO]; scrollView1.indicatorStyle = UIScrollViewIndicatorStyleWhite; scrollView1.clipsToBounds = YES; // default is NO, we want to restrict drawing within our scrollview scrollView1.scrollEnabled = YES; // pagingEnabled property default is NO, if set the scroller will stop or snap at each photo // if you want free-flowing scroll, don't set this property. scrollView1.pagingEnabled = YES; // load all the images from our bundle and add them to the scroll view NSUInteger i; for (i = 1; i <= self.comicPageCount; i++) { NSString *imageName = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%d.jpg", self.comicImagePrefix, i]; NSLog(@"%@%d.jpg", self.comicImagePrefix, i); UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:imageName]; UIImageView *imageView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:image]; // setup each frame to a default height and width, it will be properly placed when we call "updateScrollList" CGRect rect = imageView.frame; rect.size.height = kScrollObjHeight; rect.size.width = kScrollObjWidth; imageView.frame = rect; imageView.tag = i; // tag our images for later use when we place them in serial fashion [scrollView1 addSubview:imageView]; [imageView release]; } [self layoutScrollImages]; // now place the photos in serial layout within the scrollview } - (void)layoutScrollImages { UIImageView *view = nil; NSArray *subviews = [scrollView1 subviews]; // reposition all image subviews in a horizontal serial fashion CGFloat curXLoc = 0; for (view in subviews) { if ([view isKindOfClass:[UIImageView class]] && view.tag 0) { CGRect frame = view.frame; frame.origin = CGPointMake(curXLoc, 0); view.frame = frame; curXLoc += (kScrollObjWidth); } } // set the content size so it can be scrollable [scrollView1 setContentSize:CGSizeMake((self.comicPageCount * kScrollObjWidth), [scrollView1 bounds].size.height)]; } Any help would be appreciated on this. • Passing Variables between views / view controllers

    - by Dan
    Hi I'm new to ObjectiveC / IPhoneSDK and I'm informally trying to study it on my own. What I'm basically trying to do is from one view there are 12 zodiac signs. When a user clicks one, it proceeds to the second view (with animation) and loads the name of the zodiac sign it clicked in a UILabel, that's it. Here are my codes: Lovescopes = 1st page Horoscopes = 2nd page Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @class Lovescopes4ViewController; @interface Lovescopes4AppDelegate : NSObject <UIApplicationDelegate> { UIWindow *window; Lovescopes4ViewController *viewController; HoroscopesViewController *horoscopesViewController; } -(void)loadHoroscope; -(void)loadMainPage; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIWindow *window; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet Lovescopes4ViewController *viewController; @property (nonatomic, retain) HoroscopesViewController *horoscopesViewController; @end Lovescopes4AppDelegate.m #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" #import "Lovescopes4ViewController.h" @implementation Lovescopes4AppDelegate @synthesize window; @synthesize viewController; @synthesize horoscopesViewController; -(void)loadHoroscope { HoroscopesViewController *aHoroscopeViewController = [[HoroscopesViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"HoroscopesViewController" bundle:nil]; [self setHoroscopesViewController:aHoroscopeViewController]; [aHoroscopeViewController release]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:window cache:YES]; [viewController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.window addSubview:[horoscopesViewController view]]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } -(void)loadMainPage { [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.5]; [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:window cache:NO]; [horoscopesViewController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.window addSubview:[viewController view]]; [UIView commitAnimations]; [horoscopesViewController release]; horoscopesViewController = nil; } - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { // Override point for customization after app launch [window addSubview:viewController.view]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } - (void)dealloc { [viewController release]; [window release]; [super dealloc]; } @end Lovescopes4ViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" @interface Lovescopes4ViewController : UIViewController { HoroscopesViewController *hvc; } -(IBAction)loadAries; @property (nonatomic, retain) HoroscopesViewController *hvc; @end Lovescope4ViewController.m #import "Lovescopes4ViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @implementation Lovescopes4ViewController @synthesize hvc; -(IBAction)loadAries { NSString *selected =@"Aries"; [hvc loadZodiac:selected]; Lovescopes4AppDelegate *mainDelegate = (Lovescopes4AppDelegate *) [[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; [mainDelegate loadHoroscope]; } HoroscopesViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface HoroscopesViewController : UIViewController { IBOutlet UILabel *zodiacLabel; } -(void)loadZodiac:(id)zodiacSign; -(IBAction)back; @property (nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UILabel *zodiacLabel; @end HoroscopesViewController.m #import "HoroscopesViewController.h" #import "Lovescopes4AppDelegate.h" @implementation HoroscopesViewController @synthesize zodiacLabel; /* // The designated initializer.     I'm a newbie and need some help with an iPhone App running on the Simulator. The app works fine running with Build & Run or Build & Run - breakpoints off, but blows when running with Build & Debug - Breakpoints on. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.   • Objective-C NSArray NEWBIE Question:

    - by clearbrian
    Hi I have a weird problems with NSArray where some of the members of the objects in my array are going out of scope but not the others: I have a simple object called Section. It has 3 members. @interface Section : NSObject { NSNumber *section_Id; NSNumber *routeId; NSString *startLocationName; } @property(nonatomic,retain) NSNumber *section_Id; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSNumber *routeId; @property(nonatomic,retain) NSString *startLocationName; @end @implementation Section @synthesize section_Id; @synthesize routeId; @synthesize startLocationName; //Some static finder methods to get list of Sections from the db + (NSMutableArray *) findAllSections:{ - (void)dealloc { [section_Id release]; [routeId release]; [startLocationName release]; [super dealloc]; } @end I fill it from a database in a method called findAllSection self.sections = [Section findAllSections]; In find all sections I create some local variables fill them with data from db. NSNumber *secId = [NSNumber numberWithInt:id_section]; NSNumber *rteId = [NSNumber numberWithInt:id_route]; NSString *startName = @""; Then create a new Section and store these local variable's data in the Section Section *section = [[Section alloc] init]; section.section_Id = secId; section.routeId = rteId; section.startLocationName = startName; Then I add the section to the array [sectionsArray addObject:section]; Then I clean up, releasing local variables and the section I added to the array [secId release]; [rteId release]; [startName release]; [locEnd_name release]; [section release]; In a loop repeat for all Sections (release local variables and section is done in every loop) The method returns and I check the array and all the Sections are there. I cant seem to dig further down to see the values of the Section objects in the array (is this possible) Later I try and retrieve one of the Sections I get it from the array Section * section = [self.sections objectAtIndex:row]; Then check the value NSLog(@" SECTION SELECTED:%@",section.section_Id); BUT call to section.section_Id crashed as section.section_Id is out of scope. I check the other members of this Section object and theyre ok. After some trial and error I find that by commenting out the release of the member variable the object is OK. //[secId release]; [rteId release]; [startName release]; [locEnd_name release]; [section release]; My questions are: Am I cleaning up ok? Should I release the object added to an array and the local variable in the function? Is my dealloc ok in Section? Does this code look ok and should I be looking elsewhere for the problem? I'm not doing anything complicated just filling array from DB use it in Table Cell. If its a stupid mistake then tell me (I did put NEWBIE on the question so dont be shocked it was asked) I can comment out the release but would prefer to know why or if code looks ok then ill need further digging. the only place that secId is released is in the dealloc. Thanks

  • How do I make a custom delegate protocol for a UIView subclass?

    - by timothy5216
    I'm making some tabs and I want to have my own delegate for them but when I try to send an action to the delegate nothing happens. I also tried following this tutorial: link text But it doesn't work for me :( Here is my code: TiMTabBar.h @protocol TiMTabBarDelegate; @interface TiMTabBar : UIView { id<TiMTabBarDelegate> __delegate; ... int selectedItem; ... } //- (id)init; - (id)initWithDelegate:(id)aDelegate; - (void)setSelectedIndex:(int)item; .. @property (nonatomic) int selectedItem; @property(assign) id <TiMTabBarDelegate> __delegate; .. ... @end @protocol TiMTabBarDelegate<NSObject> //@optional - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; @end TiMTabBar.m: #import "TiMTabBar.h" ... @interface NSObject (TiMTabBarDelegate) - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; @end @implementation TiMTabBar @synthesize selectedItem; @synthesize __delegate; ... /* - (id)init { ... return self; } */ - (id)initWithDelegate:(id)aDelegate; { //[super init]; __delegate = aDelegate; return self; } - (void)awakeFromNib { //[self init]; //[self initWithDelegate:self]; ... } - (void)setSelectedIndex:(int)item { selectedItem = item; if (self.__delegate != NULL && [self.__delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(tabBar:didSelectIndex:)]) { [__delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:selectedItem]; } ... if (item == 0) { ... } else if (item == 1) { ... } else if (item == 2) { ... } else if (item == 3) { ... } else if (item == 4) { ... } else { ... } } /* - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; { //[delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:index]; //if (self.delegate != NULL && [self.delegate respondsToSelector:@selector(tabBar:didSelectIndex:)]) { //[delegate tabBar:self didSelectIndex:selectedItem]; //} NSLog(@"tabBarDelegate: %d",index); } */ @end The delegate only works works inside itself and not in any other files like: @interface XXXController : UIViewController <TiMTabBarDelegate> { ... ... IBOutlet TiMTabBar *tabBar; ... } ... @end XXXController.m: #import "XXXController.h" #import <QuartzCore/QuartzCore.h> @implementation XXXController - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self becomeFirstResponder]; ... tabBar = [[TiMTabBar alloc] initWithDelegate:self]; //tabBar.__delegate = self; ... } #pragma mark TiMTabBar Stuff - (void)tabBar:(TiMTabBar *)_tabBar didSelectIndex:(int)index; { NSLog(@"Controller/tabBarDelegate: %d",index); } @end None of this seems to work in XXXController. Anyone know how to make this work?

  • Custom event loop and UIKit controls. What extra magic Apple's event loop does?

    - by tequilatango
    Does anyone know or have good links that explain what iPhone's event loop does under the hood? We are using a custom event loop in our OpenGL-based iPhone game framework. It calls our game rendering system, calls presentRenderbuffer and pumps events using CFRunLoopRunInMode. See the code below for details. It works well when we are not using UIKit controls (as a proof, try Facetap, our first released game). However, when using UIKit controls, everything almost works, but not quite. Specifically, scrolling of UIKit controls doesn't work properly. For example, let's consider following scenario. We show UIImagePickerController on top of our own view. UIImagePickerController covers our custom view We also pause our own rendering, but keep on using the custom event loop. As said, everything works, except scrolling. Picking photos works. Drilling down to photo albums works and transition animations are smooth. When trying to scroll photo album view, the view follows your finger. Problem: when scrolling, scrolling stops immediately after you lift your finger. Normally, it continues smoothly based on the speed of your movement, but not when we are using the custom event loop. It seems that iPhone's event loop is doing some magic related to UIKit scrolling that we haven't implemented ourselves. Now, we can get UIKit controls to work just fine and dandy together with our own system by using Apple's event loop and calling our own rendering via NSTimer callbacks. However, I'd still like to understand, what is possibly happening inside iPhone's event loop that is not implemented in our custom event loop. - (void)customEventLoop { OBJC_METHOD; float excess = 0.0f; while(isRunning) { animationInterval = 1.0f / openGLapp->ticks_per_second(); // Calculate the target time to be used in this run of loop float wait = max(0.0, animationInterval - excess); Systemtime target = Systemtime::now().after_seconds(wait); Scope("event loop"); NSAutoreleasePool* pool = [[ NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; // Call our own render system and present render buffer [self drawView]; // Pump system events [self handleSystemEvents:target]; [pool release]; excess = target.seconds_to_now(); } } - (void)drawView { OBJC_METHOD; // call our own custom rendering bool bind = openGLapp->app_render(); // bind the buffer to be THE renderbuffer and present its contents if (bind) { opengl::bind_renderbuffer(renderbuffer); [context presentRenderbuffer:GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES]; } } - (void) handleSystemEvents:(Systemtime)target { OBJC_METHOD; SInt32 reason = 0; double time_left = target.seconds_since_now(); if (time_left <= 0.0) { while((reason = CFRunLoopRunInMode(kCFRunLoopDefaultMode, 0, TRUE)) == kCFRunLoopRunHandledSource) {} } else { float dt = time_left; while((reason = CFRunLoopRunInMode(kCFRunLoopDefaultMode, dt, FALSE)) == kCFRunLoopRunHandledSource) { double time_left = target.seconds_since_now(); if (time_left <= 0.0) break; dt = (float) time_left; } } }

  • Why does Keychain Services return the wrong keychain content?

    - by Graham Lee
    I've been trying to use persistent keychain references in an iPhone application. I found that if I created two different keychain items, I would get a different persistent reference each time (they look like 'genp.......1', 'genp.......2', …). However, attempts to look up the items by persistent reference always returned the content of the first item. Why should this be? I confirmed that my keychain-saving code was definitely creating new items in each case (rather than updating existing items), and was not getting any errors. And as I say, Keychain Services is giving a different persistent reference for each item. I've managed to solve my immediate problem by searching for keychain items by attribute rather than persistent references, but it would be easier to use persistent references so I'd appreciate solving this problem. • NSUserDefaults loses 3 rows each time it's called

    - by Jeff Decker
    Hello Everyone! Brand new programmer here, so off-topic help/constructive criticism welcome. I am saving a default state (such as "New York") in a UIPickerView which is in a FlipSideView. It certainly saves for the first and second time I check to make sure it's the same state (I am clicking "done" and then "info" repeatedly), but on the third check the picker has moved up three states (to "New Hampshire") and then every time I check the picker progresses three more states. Here's the .h and .m files of the FlipSideViewController: #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> import "Calculator.h" @protocol FlipsideViewControllerDelegate; @interface FlipsideViewController : UIViewController { id delegate; UIPickerView *myPickerView; NSArray *pickerViewArray; } @property (nonatomic, assign) id delegate; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIPickerView *myPickerView; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSArray *pickerViewArray; (IBAction)done; @end @protocol FlipsideViewControllerDelegate - (void)flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:(FlipsideViewController *)controller; @end import "FlipsideViewController.h" @implementation FlipsideViewController @synthesize delegate; @synthesize myPickerView, pickerViewArray; -(CGRect)pickerFrameWithSize:(CGSize)size;{ CGRect screenRect = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; CGRect pickerRect = CGRectMake( 0.0, screenRect.size.height - size.height, size.width, size.height); return pickerRect; } (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; self.view.backgroundColor = [UIColor viewFlipsideBackgroundColor]; [self createPicker]; } -(void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated;{ [super viewWillAppear:NO]; NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [myPickerView selectRow:[defaults integerForKey:@"pickerRow"] inComponent:0 animated:NO]; } -(void)createPicker;{ pickerViewArray = [[NSArray arrayWithObjects: @"Alabama",@"Alaska", @"Arizona",@"Arkansas",@"California",@"Colorado",@"Connecticut",@"Delaware", @"District of Columbia",@"Florida",@"Georgia",@"Hawaii",@"Idaho",@"Illinois",@"Indiana",@"Iowa", @"Kansas",@"Kentucky",@"Louisiana",@"Maine",@"Maryland",@"Massachusetts",@"Michigan", @"Minnesota",@"Mississippi",@"Missouri",@"Montana",@"Nebraska",@"Nevada",@"New Hampshire",@"New Jersey", @"New Mexico",@"New York",@"North Carolina",@"North Dakota",@"Ohio",@"Oklahoma", @"Oregon",@"Pennsylvania",@"Rhode Island",@"South Carolina",@"South Dakota",@"Tennessee", @"Texas",@"Utah",@"Vermont",@"Virginia",@"Washington",@"West Virginia",@"Wisconsin",@"Wyoming", nil] retain]; myPickerView = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectZero]; CGSize pickerSize = [myPickerView sizeThatFits:CGSizeZero]; myPickerView.frame = [self pickerFrameWithSize:pickerSize]; myPickerView.autoresizingMask = UIViewAutoresizingFlexibleWidth; myPickerView.showsSelectionIndicator = YES; myPickerView.delegate = self; myPickerView.dataSource = self; [self.view addSubview:myPickerView]; } (IBAction)done { [self.delegate flipsideViewControllerDidFinish:self]; } pragma mark - pragma mark UIPickerViewDataSource (NSString *)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView titleForRow:(NSInteger)row forComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setInteger:row forKey:@"pickerRow"]; [defaults setObject:[pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row] forKey:@"pickerString"]; return [pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row]; } (void)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView didSelectRow:(NSInteger)row inComponent:(NSInteger)component { NSUserDefaults *defaults = [NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults]; [defaults setInteger:row forKey:@"pickerRow"]; [defaults setObject:[pickerViewArray objectAtIndex:row] forKey:@"pickerString"]; } (CGFloat)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView widthForComponent:(NSInteger)component { return 240.0; } (CGFloat)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView rowHeightForComponent:(NSInteger)component { return 40.0; } (NSInteger)pickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView numberOfRowsInComponent:(NSInteger)component { return [pickerViewArray count]; } (NSInteger)numberOfComponentsInPickerView:(UIPickerView *)pickerView { return 1; } call me mystified!   • Model Object called in NSOutlineView DataSource Method Crashing App

    - by Alec Sloman
    I have a bewildering problem, hoping someone can assist: I have a model object, called Road. Here's the interface. @@@ @interface RoadModel : NSObject { NSString *_id; NSString *roadmapID; NSString *routeID; NSString *title; NSString *description; NSNumber *collapsed; NSNumber *isRoute; NSString *staff; NSNumber *start; NSArray *staffList; NSMutableArray *updates; NSMutableArray *uploads; NSMutableArray *subRoads; } @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *_id; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *roadmapID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *routeID; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *title; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *description; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *collapsed; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *isRoute; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSString *staff; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSNumber *start; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSArray *staffList; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *updates; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *uploads; @property (nonatomic, copy) NSMutableArray *subRoads; - (id)initWithJSONObject:(NSDictionary *)JSONObject; @end This part is fine. To give you some background, I'm translating a bunch of JSON into a proper model object so it's easier to work with. Now, I'm trying to display this in an NSOutlineView. This is where the problem is. In particular, I have created the table and a datasource. - (id)initWithRoads:(NSArray *)roads { if (self = [super init]) root = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithArray:roads]; return self; } - (NSInteger)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView numberOfChildrenOfItem:(id)item { if (item == nil) return root.count; return 0; } - (BOOL)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView isItemExpandable:(id)item { return NO; } - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView child:(NSInteger)index ofItem:(id)item { if (item == nil) item = root; if (item == root) return [root objectAtIndex:index]; return nil; } - (id)outlineView:(NSOutlineView *)outlineView objectValueForTableColumn:(NSTableColumn *)tableColumn byItem:(id)item { return [item title]; } In the final datasource method, it attempts to return the "title" string property of the model object, but for some reason crashes each time. I have checked that the method is taking in the correct object (I checked [item class] description], and it is the right object), but for some reason if I call any of the objects accessors the app immediately crashes. This is totally puzzling because in the init method, I can iterate through root (an array of RoadModel objects), and print any of its properties without issue. It is only when I'm trying to access the properties in any of the datasource methods that this occurs. I wonder if there is something memory-wise that is going on behind the scenes and I am not providing for it. If you can shed some light on to this situation, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

  • segmented controls mangled during initial transition animation

    - by dLux
    greetings and salutations folks, i'm relatively new to objective c & iphone programming, so bare with me if i've overlooked something obvious.. i created a simple app to play with the different transition animations, setting up a couple segmented controls and a slider.. (Flip/Curl), (left/right) | (up/down), (EaseInOut/EaseIn/EaseOut/Linear) i created a view controller class, and the super view controller switches between 2 instances of the sub class. as you can see from the following image, the first time switching to the 2nd instance, while the animation is occurring the segmented controls are mangled; i'd guess they haven't had enuff time to draw themselves completely.. http://img689.imageshack.us/img689/2320/mangledbuttonsduringtra.png they're fine once the animation is done, and any subsequent times.. if i specify cache:NO in the setAnimationTransition it helps, but there still seems to be some sort of progressive reveal for the text in the segmented controls; they still don't seem to be pre-rendered or initialized properly.. (and surely there's a way to do this while caching the view being transitioned to, since in this case the view isn't changing and should be cacheable.) i'm building my code based on a couple tutorials from a book, so i updated the didReceiveMemoryWarning to set the instanced view controllers to nil; when i invoke a memory warning in the simulator, i assume it's purging the other view, and it acts like a first transition after loading, the view being transitioned to appears just like the image above.. i guess it can't hurt to include the code (sorry if it's considered spamming), this is basically half of it, with a similar chunk following this in an else statement, for the case of the 2nd side being present, switching back to the 1st..: - (IBAction)switchViews:(id)sender { [UIView beginAnimations:@"Transition Animation" context:nil]; if (self.sideBViewController.view.superview == nil) // sideA is active, sideB is coming { if (self.sideBViewController == nil) { SideAViewController *sBController = [[SideAViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SideAViewController" bundle:nil]; self.sideBViewController = sBController; [sBController release]; } [UIView setAnimationDuration:sideAViewController.transitionDurationSlider.value]; if ([sideAViewController.transitionAnimation selectedSegmentIndex] == 0) { // flip: 0 == left, 1 == right if ([sideAViewController.flipDirection selectedSegmentIndex] == 0) [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromLeft forView:self.view cache:YES]; else [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionFlipFromRight forView:self.view cache:YES]; } else { // curl: 0 == up, 1 == down if ([sideAViewController.curlDirection selectedSegmentIndex] == 0) [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; else [UIView setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlDown forView:self.view cache:YES]; } if ([sideAViewController.animationCurve selectedSegmentIndex] == 0) [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseInOut]; else if ([sideAViewController.animationCurve selectedSegmentIndex] == 1) [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseIn]; else if ([sideAViewController.animationCurve selectedSegmentIndex] == 2) [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveEaseOut]; else if ([sideAViewController.animationCurve selectedSegmentIndex] == 3) [UIView setAnimationCurve:UIViewAnimationCurveLinear]; [sideBViewController viewWillAppear:YES]; [sideAViewController viewWillDisappear:YES]; [sideAViewController.view removeFromSuperview]; [self.view insertSubview:sideBViewController.view atIndex:0]; [sideBViewController viewDidAppear:YES]; [sideAViewController viewDidDisappear:YES]; } any other tips or pointers about writing good clean code is also appreciated, i realize i still have a lot to learn.. thank u for ur time, -- d

  • Different cursor formats in IOFrameBufferShared

    - by Thomi
    Hi, I'm reading the moust cursor pixmap data from the StdFBShmem_t structure, as defined in the IOFrameBufferShared API. Everything works fine, 90% of the time. However, I have noticed that some applications on the mac set a cursor in a different format. According to the documentation for the data structures, the cursor pixmap format should always be in the same format as the frame buffer. My frame buffer is 32BPP. I expect the pixmap data to be in the format 0xAARRGGBB, which is it. However, in some cases, I'm reading data that looks like a mask. Specifically, the pixel will either be 0x00FFFFFF or `0x00000000. This looks to me to be a mask for separate pixel data stored somewhere else. As far as I can tell, the only application that uses this cursor pixel format is Qt Creator, but I need to work with all applications, so I'd like to sort this out. The code I'm using to read the cursor pixmap data is: NSAutoreleasePool *autoReleasePool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; NSPoint mouseLocation = [NSEvent mouseLocation]; NSArray *allScreens = [NSScreen screens]; NSEnumerator *screensEnum = [allScreens objectEnumerator]; NSScreen *screen; NSDictionary *screenDesc = nil; while ((screen = [screensEnum nextObject])) { NSRect screenFrame = [screen frame]; screenDesc = [screen deviceDescription]; if (NSMouseInRect(mouseLocation, screenFrame, NO)) break; } if (screen) { kern_return_t err; CGDirectDisplayID displayID = (CGDirectDisplayID) [[screenDesc objectForKey:@"NSScreenNumber"] pointerValue]; task_port_t taskPort = mach_task_self(); io_service_t displayServicePort = CGDisplayIOServicePort(displayID); io_connect_t displayConnection =0; err = IOFramebufferOpen(displayServicePort, taskPort, kIOFBSharedConnectType, &displayConnection); if (KERN_SUCCESS == err) { union { vm_address_t vm_ptr; StdFBShmem_t *fbshmem; } cursorInfo; vm_size_t size; err = IOConnectMapMemory(displayConnection, kIOFBCursorMemory, taskPort, &cursorInfo.vm_ptr, &size, kIOMapAnywhere | kIOMapDefaultCache | kIOMapReadOnly); if (KERN_SUCCESS == err) { // for some reason, cursor data is not always in the same format as the frame buffer. For this reason, we need // some way to detect which structure we should be reading. QByteArray pixData((const char*)cursorInfo.fbshmem->cursor.rgb24.image[currentFrame], m_mouseInfo.currentSize.width() * m_mouseInfo.currentSize.height() * 4); IOConnectUnmapMemory(displayConnection, kIOFBCursorMemory, taskPort, cursorInfo.vm_ptr); } // IOConnectMapMemory else qDebug() << "IOConnectMapMemory Failed:" << err; IOServiceClose(displayConnection); } // IOServiceOpen else qDebug() << "IOFramebufferOpen Failed:" << err; }// if screen [autoReleasePool release]; My question is: How can I detect if the cursor is a different format from the framebuffer? Where can I read the actual pixel data? the bm18Cursor structure contains a mask section, but it's not in the right place for me to be reading it using the code above. Cheers,

    Hello, Here is a question, i have a plist, with main NSDictoinary, which his keys are dates. for every date, i have NSDictionary which his keys are (let's say) categories every Category holds Keys and values. I would like to create 2 variables that each one will hold the correct NSDictionary NSDictionary *dates = ? NSDictionary *Categories = ? below is my plist, Please help to understand how this should be done. **Note: i do know how to assign the first dates dictionary from the plist.. just stuck with the Categories. NSDictionary *dict = [[NSDictionary alloc]initWithContentsOfFile:path]; self.dates = dict; [dict release]; The plist: <dict> <key>2010-05-08</key> <dict> <key>Catergory1</key> <dict> <key>key1</key> <string>value1</string> <key>key2</key> <string>value2</string> <key>key3</key> <string>value3</string> </dict> <key>Catergory2</key> <dict> <key>key1</key> <string>value1</string> <key>key2</key> <string>value2</string> <key>key3</key> <string>value3</string> </dict> <key>2010-01-02</key> <dict> <key>Catergory1</key> <dict> <key>key1</key> <string>value1</string> <key>key2</key> <string>value2</string> <key>key3</key> <string>value3</string> </dict> <key>Catergory2</key> <dict> <key>key1</key> <string>value1</string> <key>key2</key> <string>value2</string> <key>key3</key> <string>value3</string> </dict> </dict> </dict> </plist> any help would be greatly appriciated, as i searched over the forum history and found nothing which match my scenario. • iPhone NSCalendar - Incorrect Calendar Drawn for users outside US

    - by xoail
    After trying to work on someone else's code, and so many different iterations, I am unable to understand what am I doing wrong with dates on a calendar month view. I am trying to present a calendar in month view fashion like calendar.app but unfortunately some users in countries like Australia, UK are reporting incorrect alignment of Days to Dates. For instance in Australia it displays 17th March as Friday. Any help is highly appreciated! Here is the code sample I am using: -(void)setCalendar { NSCalendar *gregorian = [[NSCalendar alloc] initWithCalendarIdentifier:NSGregorianCalendar]; NSDateComponents *comps = [gregorian components:units fromDate:[NSDate date]]; self.currentDate = [gregorian dateFromComponents:comps]; NSInteger weekdayInteger=[comps weekday]; currentMonth=[comps month]; currentYear=[comps year]; NSString *dateString=[[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@",currentDate] substringToIndex:10]; NSArray *array= [dateString componentsSeparatedByString:@"-"]; NSInteger currentDay=[[array objectAtIndex:2] intValue]; currentMonthConstant=currentMonth; currentYearConstant=currentYear; currentDayConstant=currentDay; currentConstantDate=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d/%d/%d",currentDayConstant,currentMonthConstant,currentYearConstant]; currentFirstDay=((8+weekdayInteger-(currentDay%7))%7); if(currentFirstDay==0) currentFirstDay=7; [gregorian release]; } And this is how im populating the calendar: -(void)fillCalender:(NSInteger)month weekStarts:(NSInteger)weekday year:(NSInteger)year { currentMonth=month; currentYear=year; currentFirstDay=weekday; UIButton *temp; NSInteger numberOfDays=[self getNumberofDays:month YearVlue:year]; currentLastDay=(currentFirstDay+numberOfDays-1)%7; if(currentLastDay==0) currentLastDay=7; NSString *monthName=[self getMonth:month]; NSInteger grid=(weekday-1); monthLabel.text=[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@ %d",monthName,year]; for(int i=1;i<=numberOfDays;i++) { if([frontView isEqualToString:@"view1"]) temp=[arr_View2Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; else temp= [arr_View1Buttons objectAtIndex:grid]; [temp setBackgroundImage:nil forState:UIControlStateNormal]; [temp setUserInteractionEnabled:TRUE]; UILabel *aLbl = (UILabel *)[temp viewWithTag:123]; [aLbl setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d",i]]; // check for today if(currentDayConstant == i && currentMonthConstant == currentMonth && currentYearConstant == currentYear) { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor blueColor]]; } else { [aLbl setTextColor:[UIColor colorWithRed:69/255.0 green:2/255.0 blue:71/255.0 alpha:1.0]]; } [temp setTag:i]; grid++; if(grid==35) grid=0; } } And finally viewdidload: - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; [self setCalendar]; // set views [self.view1 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,45,320,232)]; [self.view2 setFrame:CGRectMake(0,277,320,232)]; [self.view addSubview:self.view1]; [self.view addSubview:self.view2]; frontView = @"view2"; [self fillCalender:currentMonth weekStarts:currentFirstDay year:currentYear]; frontView = @"view1"; }

  • How to figure out who owns a worker thread that is still running when my app exits?

    - by Dave
    Not long after upgrading to VS2010, my application won't shut down cleanly. If I close the app and then hit pause in the IDE, I see this: The problem is, there's no context. The call stack just says [External code], which isn't too helpful. Here's what I've done so far to try to narrow down the problem: deleted all extraneous plugins to minimize the number of worker threads launched set breakpoints in my code anywhere I create worker threads (and delegates + BeginInvoke, since I think they are labeled "Worker Thread" in the debugger anyway). None were hit. set IsBackground = true for all threads While I could do the next brute force step, which is to roll my code back to a point where this didn't happen and then look over all of the change logs, this isn't terribly efficient. Can anyone recommend a better way to figure this out, given the notable lack of information presented by the debugger? The only other things I can think of include: read up on WinDbg and try to use it to stop anytime a thread is started. At least, I thought that was possible... :) comment out huge blocks of code until the app closes properly, then start uncommenting until it doesn't. UPDATE Perhaps this information will be of use. I decided to use WinDbg and attach to my application. I then closed it, and switched to thread 0 and dumped the stack contents. • Async networking + threading problem

    - by randallmeadows
    I kick off a network request, assuming no login credentials are required to talk to the destination server. If they are required, then I get an authentication challenge, at which point I display a view requesting said credentials from the user. When they are supplied, I restart the network request, using those credentials. That's all fine and dandy, as long as I only do one request at a time. But I'm not, typically. When both requests are kicked off, I get the first challenge, and present the prompt (using -presentModalViewController:). Then the 2nd challenge comes in. And I crash when it tries to display the 2nd prompt. I have the bulk of this wrapped in an @synchronized() block, but this has no effect because these delegate methods are all being called on the same (main) thread. The docs say the delegate methods are called on the same thread in which the connection was started. OK, no problem; I'll just write a method that I run on a background thread using -performSelectorInBackground: NSURLConnection *connection = [[NSURLConnection alloc] initWithRequest:request delegate:self startImmediately:NO]; [connections addObject:connection]; [self performSelectorInBackground:@selector(startConnection:) withObject:connection]; [connection release]; - (void)startConnection:(NSURLConnection *)connection { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [NSAutoreleasePool new]; [connection scheduleInRunLoop:[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] forMode:NSDefaultRunLoopMode]; [connection start]; [pool drain]; } which should put every network request, and its callbacks, on its own thread, and then my @synchronized() blocks will take effect. The docs for -initWithRequest:... state "Messages to the delegate will be sent on the thread that calls this method. By default, for the connection to work correctly the calling thread’s run loop must be operating in the default run loop mode." Ok, I'm doing that. They also state "If you pass NO [for startImmediately], you must schedule the connection in a run loop before starting it." OK, I'm doing that, too. Furthermore, the docs for NSRunLoop state "Each NSThread object, including the application’s main thread, has an NSRunLoop object automatically created for it as needed. If you need to access the current thread’s run loop, you do so with the class method currentRunLoop." I'm assuming this applies to the background thread created by the call -performSelectorInBackground... (which does appear to be the case, when I execute 'po [NSClassFromString(@"NSRunLoop") currentRunLoop]' in the -startConnection: method). The -startConnection: method is indeed being called. But after kicking off the connection, I now never get any callbacks on it. None of the -connectionDid… delegate methods. (I even tried explicitly starting the thread's run loop, but that made no difference; I've used threads like this before, and I've never had to start the run loop manually before--but I'm now grasping at straws...) I think I've come up with a workaround such that I only handle one request at a time, but it's kludgy and I'd like to do this the Right Way. But, what am I missing here? Thanks! randy
