Changing the background colour of lines in the stack

I have just changed the colour scheme of my Visual Studio 2008 environment to have a dark backround with light text. This is so much easier on the eyes. The only problem is lines that are on the call stack... Those lines that are referred to in this thread here in visual studio some lines of code have light grey background while debugging These lines have a bright grey background, which against my light text means I cannot read the text at all. I have been through every single colour in Tools - Options - Fonts and Colours and cannot find one that matches. How can I change the background for lines on the current call stack?

PostScript versus PDF as an output format

I'm currently writing a typesetting application and I'm using PSG as the backend for producing postscript files. I'm now wondering whether that choice makes sense. It seems the ReportLab Toolkit offers all the features PSG offers, and more. ReportLab outputs PDF however. Advantages PDF offers: transparancy better support for character encodings (Unicode, for example) ability to embed TrueType and even OpenType fonts hyperlinks and bookmarks Is there any reason to use Postscript instead of directly outputting to PDF? While Postscript is a full programming language as opposed to PDF, as a basic output format for documents, that doesn't seem to offer any advantage. ASP.net - Crystal Reports exporting to PDF adds the letter "i" to certain words randomly

We are using Crystal Reports to generate pdf's of customer bills (from a CR template). It works fine except the engine seems to be adding the letter "i" to random words in the output. Certain alignment problems are also evident (words overlapping etc). Standard fonts are being used. We are using .net 4 and C# linked to the 10.5 CR assemblies. Latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader is installed on the server. We have now tried this via 12.2 CR assemblies with the same results. We have also tried multiple .rpt files with the same results.

Why does bold monoface shift vertically on Windows?

In Firefox 3.6, IE7 and Opera 10 on Windows, this HTML has an odd behavior: <html><head></head> <style> span { font-family: monospace; background-color: green; } span.b { font-weight: bold; } </style> <body> <span>Text</span><span class="b">Text</span><span>Text</span> </body> </html> The bold span in the middle is shifted down by one pixel. That doesn't happen for other fonts. Why is that? How can I fix it?

Hello, I'm using Bamboo invoice as an invoice generator, and I'm trying to customize the invoice template, but no matter what I do, the font just won't seem to adjust. currently I have body { margin: 0.5in; font-family: 'helvetica'; font-size: 10pt;} I've read up on it, and helvetica is an installed font, so it should work to make sure I changed it to 'courier'; which is also in the lib/fonts directory, but the font remains the same. Any help? thanks in advance !

Setup I am using Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect Professional edition 7.5: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/ and MS PowerPoint. Problem I have various audiences for presentations requiring display in MS PowerPoint -- ranging from managers to developers, whose depth of technical knowledge and requirements for knowledge varies. Question I have tried various settings for fonts, colors, and so on, but displaying a diagram with any level of detail (even simple class diagrams). These diagrams are very difficult to fit into a PowerPoint slide and render well when using a projector or a Live Meeting. Am I on the wrong path here, or is there a better/correct way to accomplish this? Thank you for the help, -bn

How can I get PHP to compile a LaTeX document if it (www-data) can't get access to the required packages?

I have a PHP script that compiles LaTeX documents with the use of: exec('cd /path/to/doc && /usr/bin/latexmk -pdf filename.tex'); This is working for some of my LaTeX documents but my latest document doesn't compile and a look at the log reveals: !pdfTeX error: pdflatex (file ecrm1000): Font ecrm1000 at 600 not found ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced! Which I have found is the result of LaTeX not being able to see the required font packages. When I run the same compile command under my username the document compiles as it should. So my question is, how can I get PHP (executing as www-data) to get access to the necessary LaTeX packages? I have tried installing the required package under the www-data account using: sudo -u www-data sudo apt-get install texlive-fonts-recommended but it askes for www-data's password, which I don't believe was set by me and isn't anything I've thrown at it. I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 if it's any help.

I started getting into reading design blogs a little while ago, and it seemed that @font-face got really popular sometime late last year, or something like that, because I was under the impression that it was a new emerging feature of the web. But then I saw that Internet Explorer has had it since IE4 (with some conversion). So is it common to see @font-face online nowadays? Sould I have anything in mind with respect to accessibility, legality, or rendering before I do something like this? I saw that Hulu.com renders fonts with Canvas and a javascript called "cufon."

swap a div to an embed form when user tweets using the @anywhere function box

I'm using the @anywhere twitter function on the front page of my site (vocabbomb.com) and right now it works great to allow users to tweet straight away. Problem is, when they click tweet, it just reloads the twitter box, empty. I want it to load something new, like a "thank you, now fill in this email form" and show a mailchimp form. Hi there, I would like to know some opinions from experienced developers on what they think the definitive way to size fonts (in a base sense). I know that working with ems is considered best but im referring to the best way to set the base font size. There is the technique of setting font to 10px using 62.5 method but i think ie has an issue with rounding which throws this out slightly (perhaps not) YUI framework uses body { font:13px/1.231 arial,helvetica,clean,sans-serif; /* for IE6/7 */ *font-size:small; /* for IE Quirks Mode */ *font:x-small; } which really confuses me! Tripoli uses html { font-size:125%; } body { font-size:50%; } a list apart suggest something along the lines of : body { font-size: 16px; *font-size: 100%; } So which is the best either out of these methods or any alternatives. The best being the easiest to work with and the most reliable cross browser.

How to detect default printer properties from browser?

Regardless of if this is a good idea or not, is it possible to detect printer attributes from the browser? The idea is that you want to print out a brochure that's selling something. Depending on different things such as if the printer is black&white/colour, high/low resolution, laser/inkjet, printing to a file, etc, you want to print out the page differently. For example you might choose different text colours or fonts, different image sizes, etc. My initial thoughts are: ActiveX, Flash, Java, Silverlight, browser plugins. Kudos if it's possible in javascript. I'm interested in all ways to do this, cross browser or not. Please no reasons about why this shouldn't be done ^_^

Google App Engine - Document Editor Creation/Tap Into Google Docs?

What is the best way to create a custom document editor in GAE? I'm making a website meant for a School Robotics Club (With support for any other organization - DRY). We currently use Google services for online collaboration, I'm wondering if there is a way to tap into Google Docs and allow users to edit a Google Document without using Google Accounts or the Google Doc interface. If that is not possible (I've researched and I don't think it is), what is the best way to make a document editor? I want it completely on the website I'm creating, so I'm assuming just some javascript editor like TinyMCE + Ajax + Datastore. Is their anything that replicates Google Doc's/Microsoft Offices's/OpenOffice.org's feature set as far as fonts, spacing, alignment, justification, etc.?

TextField breaking MOUSE_OVER in as3: only after moving it!

I'm having a really weird problem with the MOUSE_OVER event. I'm building dynamic tabs representing mp3 songs containing textfields with info and a dynamic image for the cover art. I am trying to get a simple MOUSE_OVER working over the whole tab, such that you can select the next song to play. I am using a Sprite with alpha 0 that overlays my whole tab (incl. the textFields) as a Listener for MOUSE_OVER and _OUT... I've checked by setting the alpha to something visible and it indeed covers my tab and follows it around as I move it (just making sure I'm not moving the tab without moving the hotspot). Also, I only create it once my cover art is loaded, ensuring that it will cover that too. Now, when the tab is in the top position, everything is dandy. As soon as I move the tab to make space for the next tab, the textFields break my roll behaviour... just like that noob mistake of overlaying a sprite over the one that you're listening for MouseEvents on. But... the roll area is still on top of the field, I've set selectable and mouseEnabled to false on the textFields... nothing. It is as if the mere fact of moving the whole tab now puts the textField on top of everything in my tab (whereas visually, it's still in its expected layer). I have looked into SHDocVw.WebBrowser and IHTMLDocument( to 5) but I don't see what I'm looking for or missing the property. The BHO is for Internet Explorer 7. Thank you very much! Style Data in a gridview which dynamically generates the columns

I have built a dynamic gridview using the following code grdVariants.Columns.Clear(); int i = 0; foreach (DataColumn column in options.Columns) { grdVariants.Columns.Add(new GridViewColumn { Header = column.ColumnName, DisplayMemberBinding = new Binding(string.Format("[{0}]", i++)) }); } This will dynamically generate my columns at runtime, I then bind the data using lstVariantsGrid.DataContext = options; lstVariantsGrid.Items.Refresh(); This all works great and shows the data in the correct columns etc, the only issue i have is that I can't style the rows like I would in xaml as it is all an unknown quantity until runtime. Can anyone offer some advice on how I might go about doing this? One of the biggest problems I have is that one of the columns needs to display the image rather than just the path which it currently shows, as well as fiddling with fonts and colors etc. Thanks for your time.

Does Java Mac OSX native look and feel respect UIManager font changes?

I have a java applet and the only look and feel that works properly is the native mac one. I wanted to make the fonts a bit larger and tried using the standard UIManager methods UIManager.put("Label.font", new Font("Georgia", Font.PLAIN, 18)); This produces no change. It does not throw an exception, of course. Does anyone know if the native mac look and feel ignores these? I know there are specific ways to make controls different sizes on mac but these only seem to make them smaller. You cannot make the controls larger than regular.

" is displayed "? ? ? ? ?". some individuals have made Arabic support on CyanogenMod ROM's for some HTC phones, but they would not tell how they made it. I'v got the android source code, i want to know where to start, where to make changes , what is the library that handle fonts , shaping engine etc .. ps : android.com and other android related google groups are blocked in my country.

How to break up HTML documents into pages for ebook?

For an iPhone ebook application I need to break arbitrarily long HTML documents up into pages which fit exactly on one screen. If I simply use UIWebView for this, the bottom-most lines tend to get displayed only partly: the rest disappears off the edge of the view. So I assume I would need to know how many complete lines (or characters) would be displayed by the UIWebView, given the source HTML, and then feed it exactly the right amount of data. This probably involves lots of calculation, and the user also needs to be able to change fonts and sizes. I have no idea if this is even possible, although apps like Stanza take HTML (epub) files and paginate them nicely. It's a long time since I looked at JavaScript, would that be an option worth looking at? Any suggestions very much appreciated!
