• Accessing native iPhone addressbook database and performing add and delete contacts?

  Hi, In my application I need to implement the address book which should contains the native addressbook details, and the user should be able to add and delete from the address book and it should be updated in the native iphone addressbook. I read somewhere that the iphone native address book database is accesible. In documentation also I saw that addContact and Delete API's are exposed to addressbook. Can anyone please tell me how can I access the native AddressBook of the iphone, and.. how to add and delete contacts from the address book? Can anyone post the sample code for this?

• Display Image over map layer in GeoServer

  Hi I am newbie when it comes to GeoServer and trying to figure out if there is an easy way to display images on top of map layer. A background: In my application, based on a search criteria, some polygons are drawn on the map. Each polygon has a corresponding image (in TIFF format) that is stored somewhere. I want to load the image on top of the map when the user zooms in to a certain zoom level. I know this can be done using openLayers but since my images are in TIFF format, (openLayers is not able to render TIFF images as far as i know) i have to convert them to .PNG first which would be very slow considering the number of images i have. Hence I was wondering whether it would be possible to create a image layer that would retrieve an image of a certain polygon at a certain zoom level. If so, could anyone point me to an example or give me an idea on whether this is possible. I am using spring 2.5, tomcat 5, java 1.6 and geoserver 2.0 Thanks.

  Hi Guys, I am trying to write an Add-In to Powerpoint that does basically one thing: Give users a Button somewhere to click, once they click on it the currently selected TextField should get syntax highlighted. The Syntax highlighting part is easy, I'm just having a real hard time finding some good information on how to successfully interact with Powerpoint from code. There are some MSDN articles highlighting how to add controls on document start or AddSlide, but no good information on how to extend the UI. Has anyone had some experience in this field and could point me to some resource that may help? Also, I am running Powerpoint 2007 while my customer may end up running PPT2003. How is the backwards compatibility of the Add-ins? greetings Daniel

• WPF Window Drag/Move Boundary

  Hi everyone, just curious if you know of any way to setup a drag boundary for a window? It would be nice to have these properties: Me.MinLeft = 10 Me.MinTop = 10 Me.MaxLeft = 150 Me.MaxTop = 150 Those are made up properties, btw, which would be nice to have. I know I could probably setup a timer to fire ever 10th of a second and check the left and top and then move it back if it's over. But it would be more elegant to have the window act like it hit a wall and can't go any farther, like moving to the edge of the screen or something similar. Edit: There seems to be some confusion somewhere, the point I'm trying to make is in the paragraph above, dragging, not re-sizing.

• jQuery UI Autocomplete - style like a standard <SELECT>

  I'm on the verge of starting a new web application that is likely to have need for both standard, simple dropdowns as well as more feature-rich autocomplete controls for longer lists of values, better type ahead behavior, etc. I'm planning on using the jQuery UI Autocomplete widget along with some combobox behavior as detailed here: http://jqueryui.com/demos/autocomplete/#combobox My concern is that "out of the box" the Autocomplete widget looks very different than a standard control. Since is not easy to skin/style, I'm hoping to adjust the Autocomplete to look & feel as close to the as possible, except in the cases where the increased functionality justifies a different L&F. What is the best way to go about reskinning the Autocomplete to look more like a ? Has this already been done somewhere? Should I use jQuery UI theming? Other options?

  I've found this problem somewhere on the internet, but I'm not sure about the proper solution. I think, that it has to be done by greedy algorithm, however I haven't spend much time thinking about that. I suppose, You may enjoy solving this problem, and I will get my answer. Win-win situation :). Problem N people come to a river in the night. There is a narrow bridge, but it can only hold two people at a time. Because it's night, the torch has to be used when crossing the bridge. Every person can cross the bridge in some (given) time (person n1 can cross the bridge in t1 time, person n2 in t2 time etc.). When two people cross the bridge together, they must move at the slower person's pace. What is the mimimal time for the whole grup to cross the bridge?

• registering httpModules in web.config

  I am trying to register a custom HttpHandler in the web.config file. MSDN's example shows an entry that is commented out...um which doesn't work so well. When I uncomment I receive a Could not load file or assembly 'HttpModule.cs' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. error. The file name is HttpModule.cs and the class name is MyHttpModule. There is no explicit namespace yet. <httpModules> <add name="MyHttpModule" type="MyHttpModule, HttpModule" /> <httpModules> I am sure I am overlooking the obvious. Do I need to specify the file path somewhere? Thanks in advance.

• Monitoring disk performance with MRTG

  I use MRTG to monitor vital stats on my servers like disk space, CPU load, memory usage, temperatures etc. It all works fine and well for parameters that don't change rapidly. By running small VB script I can also get any Performance Counter. However these scripts are called by MRTG every 5 minutes while performance counters like physical disk idle time return a snapshot value from previous few seconds so a lot or data is missed. Surely I could write a service that would poll all required counters in background and store average values somewhere on disk where MRTG would pick them up. However before I do so I would like to find out if there is some ready solution that would allow me to get average value of some counter for the last 5 minutes as opposed to immediate snapshot.

  Hello We are using Seam 2.2.0 Java 1.6.14 Weblogic 10.3.1.0 (named 11g Doh!) I have looked at Seam reference Seam in action These web pages However I still do not understand how to inject an EJB3 bean into a JSF backing bean. It seems to me that I have to (correct me if I am wrong) Annotate with @Name my backing bean Annotate with @Name my EJB3 bean Use the @In annotation in the backing bean Put an empty seam.properties file in the WAR that contains the backing bean Put an empty seam.properties file in the JAR that contains the EJB Set up a Seam interceptor in ejb-jar.xml of the EJB Don't I need to setup some JNDI URL somewhere? How exactly does Seam will find the EJB? The interceptor is enough? Also this means that I have to add a seam dependency in my EJB archive (because of the @Name annotation). So the web layer (Seam) "spills" into my business logic (EJB). Is this the recommended approach? Am I missing something here?

  I'd like to calculate the mathematical rank of a matrix using scipy. The most obvious function numpy.rank calculates the dimension of an array (ie. scalars have dimension 0, vectors 1, matrices 2, etc...). I am aware that the numpy.linalg.lstsq module has this capability, but I was wondering if such a fundamental operation is built into the matrix class somewhere. Here is an explicit example: from numpy import matrix, rank A = matrix([[1,3,7],[2,8,3],[7,8,1]]) print rank(A) This gives 2 the dimension, where I'm looking for an answer of 3.

• US Bank Routing Number and BIC/SWIFT

  I know it is a bit offtopic, but I've been having a hard time finding more information to this question, and since this site is visited by a lot of people from the United States, you guys might know/find the answer more easily. Banks in europe each have a SWIFT Number, while US Banks use Routing Numbers. This leads to following questions: Does each bank in the US also carry a BIC number? (SWIFT) Is there a 1-1 relationship between BIC/SWIFT and Routing Numbers? Is there a list of these numbers somewhere? Background information: We're adding international payments to our bookkeeping application. Users can add international suppliers, but my boss prefered not to change the current supplier table but to have the ROUTING NUMBER in another table, with as PK the BIC. I'm wondering if BIC is a valid choice, or if it should just be BANK ACCOUNT NUMBER.

I'm trying to build it up again, but while I'm at it, I thought I'd pick up other good configurations that other people use. So, if you use Emacs, what's in your .emacs? Mine is pretty barren right now, containing only: Global font-lock-mode! (global-font-lock-mode 1) My personal preferences with respect to indentation, tabs, and spaces. Use cperl-mode instead of perl-mode. A shortcut for compilation. What do you think is useful?

• Return extra data besides tree data from ExtJS TreeLoader dataUrl?

  I asked this question in the Ext JS forums, but I received no responses, so I am asking here. I have a TreePanel (code below) that uses a TreeLoader and an AsyncTreeNode. In my API method specified by the TreeLoader's dataUrl, I return a JSON array to populate the tree. This works great, of course. However, I need to return an additional item--an integer--in addition to the array, and I need to display that value somewhere else in my UI. Is this possible? If not, what else would be a good solution? • architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application?

  I am using JDBC to connect to my microsoft access database. I get the following exception when I try to connect to the database: java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application I am using 64bit windows7, and I am using eclipse which is also a 64bit version My database is a microsoft access database and it seems that the driver is a 32bit driver which is causing the problem. I read somewhere that microsoft has not released a 64bit driver for microsoft access! Any help on how to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a tab-based iPhone app where I want to increase the perceived start-up speed with a launch image. As defined by the iPhone HIG, the launch image is a screenshot of your app (called Default.png) that is displayed immediately and looks very similar to the app's first screen (e.g., the screenshot of an empty table when the app displays a table first). Now the problem with a tab-based app is that users can rearrange the order of tabs so that any of the tabs may be the first tab to show upon launch. I think I read somewhere that you can't change the Default.png programmatically in your app, but I couldn't find that in the HIG (and the "Clock" app seems to do exactly that - having one launch image per tab). So, how do provide a launch image for a tab-based app?

I want to implement Zoom-in, Zoom-out kind of effect for a Sprite image, same like camera album images zoom in/out effect. Could someone please guide me how do i implement it? I see somewhere is that, i have to detect two touch events in TouchBegan and then Adjust the Sprite Scale size to up or down based on the distance of two fingers touch event values. Could someone please tell me, How do i detect two fingers touch values in TouchBegan? How to allow to touch and Zoom-in/out of Sprite image by user? Please give me samples. • ASP.NET Load unmanaged dll from bin folder

  Question: I use an embedded Firebird database in ASP.NET. Now, Firebird has a .NET wrapper around native dlls. The problem is, with the .NET compilation and execution process, the dlls get shadow copied to a temporary folder. Unfortunately, only the .NET dlls, and not the native dll. See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms366723.aspx for details. Now, this makes it necessary to put the unmanaged dll somewhere into the system32 directory (or any other directory in the path environment variable). Now, I want to change the wrapper/native dll (opensource), so it loads the dll also if they are only in the bin folder. Now, my problem is, how can I, in .NET, load an unmanaged dll from an absolute path ? The absolute path is determined at runtime, not at compile-time...

  Hello World, I am new to java and i was asking myself, if i have a class 'Example' and somewhere i make a: Example example1 = new Example(); and i add some stuff to it, lets say example1.setExampleBoolean(false); and now i make: Example example2 = example1; example2.setExampleBoolean(true); Did i say with Example example2 = example1 let example2 point to the same adress as example1? Because than i would have altered example1. In other words would, using something like: Boolean exampleBoolean = example1.getExampleBoolean(); exampleBoolean be true of false? Might be a stupid questions but for me it would change the way i'd handle problems in my programs :) Thanks in advance -Samuel

• cannot find vcvarsall.bat when runnning a pyhton script

  hello all, i am working on vista, and using python 2.6.4. i am using a software which uses a python script. but then i bumped into the message "cannot find vcvarsall.bat". so i installed visual c++ 2010. still the file is not found though it is there. my guess (a very uneducated one...) is that somewhere the path is wrong, because i also have an old visual 2008 (pretty empty) folder. since i have little idea in programming i have no idea where to make the changes for the new path. do i change something in the registery or in the script. i would be happy if somebody could help (preferably in lamen terms). thanx. I need to change SMTP settings and have Elgg use a relay server and not our company email server. The hosting company authorized me to use such relay. • Displaying Fourier transforms in OpenCV

  Hi, I'm just learning to use OpenCV and am having a problem with using DFT. I've done a signal processing class which used MatLab, so I'm trying to go through some of the exercises we did in that class. I'm trying to get and display the FT of an image, so I can mask some of the frequencies. I'd like to be able to see the FT, so I know how big to make the mask, but when I tried, I got an image like this: rather than like one of these Am I forgetting a step somewhere? I'm loading the image, converting its type to CV_32FC1, getting the matrix of it, getting the DFT, and then getting turning the resulting matrix back into an image. I'll post the code I'm using if it will be of any help? Or if someone has a link to an example of displaying the FT? I could only find ones which used it for the convolution. EDIT: Did I get the Phase of the image?

• White view when launch iOS app in simulator

  I have been working for 4 months on an app, its pretty complex and works fine. Now suddenly, I added a new class and did some changes to the MainWindow.xib with all my views there and now I just get a plain white view when I launch it with simulator. I even stripped it down completely to nothing but the appdelegate and one simple plain view with a button. So basically I've got an app with nothing but an appDelegate managing a tabBar, launching with one simple view, no frameworks no nothing and I still get a white app. There must be an option somewhere that I must have activated for the running of app in simulator but I can't figure it out.   I have little to no experience in writing batch files. I need to write one that copies a file to a new folder and renames it At the moment, my batch file consists of only this command: COPY ABC.PDF \\Documents As you can see, it only copies the file ABC.pdf to the network folder 'Documents'. However i need to change this so it renames the file ABCxxx.pdf, where xxx is a text variable that i would like to set somewhere in the batch file. For example, if xxx = "_Draft", then file would be renamed ABC_Draft.pdf after it is copied. Thanks
