  • Main page content populated on the fly?

    Is there any reason to NOT have a webpage retrieve it's main content on the fly? For example, I have a page that has a header and a footer, and in the middle of this page is an empty div. When you click on one of the buttons in the header, an http GET is done behind the scenes and the .innerHTML() of the empty div is replaced with the result. I can't think of any reason why this might be a bad idea, but I can't seem to find any pages out there that do it? Please advise!

Depending in which link you click on the gallery to be displayed in the div should change. All my links have different Ids and all my galleries too. I know there should be a way to do it with Jquery.   • Why is this server redirecting to another page???

    I am building a site for a client. For a reason unknown to me www.domain.com forwards to www.domain.com/directory/home.html. If i type www.domain.com/index.php it works correctly. I have checked .htaccess there was nothing there, so I set the index to index.php which works fine in every directory other than the root directory. I have root access and have checked the httpd.conf (did a search in VI for the document that I was being redirected to) and anything else I could think of. Where should I look next? The server is a VPS running CentOS 5.5 with multiple domains, has CPanel WHM 11 for root access and CPanel X installed for each domain.

    I have a form where a user input name and other contact information. I validate the input and then redirect to a thank you page. I wanted to personalize the page by having the user name appear as part of the thank you note. I tried document.getElementById(Name1).value to retrieve the value of the Name but it it is giving Undefined. Is there a way for me to set the value of the Name1 field to another variable that I call again to include it in my text message?

  • Splitting Pygame functionality between classes or modules?

    I am attempting to make my pygame application more modular so that different functionalities are split up into different classes and modules. I am having some trouble getting pygame to allow me to draw or load images in secondary classes when the display has been set and pygame.init() has been done in my main class. I have typically used C# and XNA to accomplish this sort of behavior, but this time I need to use python. How do I init pygame in class1, then create an instance of class2 which loads and converts() images. I have tried pygame.init() in class 2 but then it tells me no display mode has been set, when it has been set in class1. I am under the impression i do not wnat to create multiple pygame.displays as that gets problematic I am probably missing something pythonic and simple but I am not sure what.     Hi, I have a problem that has been bugging me all day. In my code I have the following: private int rowCount { get { return (int)ViewState["rowCount"]; } set { ViewState["rowCount"] = value; } } and a button event protected void addRow_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { rowCount = rowCount + 1; } Then on Page_Load I read that value and create controls accordingly. I understand the button event fires AFTER the Page_Load fires so the value isn't updated until the next postback. Real nightmare.     Hi, I have a projects with several large apps and where settings and apps files are split. directory structure goes something like that: project_name __init__.py apps __init__.py app1 app2 3rdparty __init__.py lib1 lib2 settings __init__.py installed_apps.py path.py templates.py locale.py ... urls.py every app is like that __init__.py admin __init__.py file1.py file2.py models __init__.py model1.py model2.py tests __init__.py test1.py test2.py views __init__.py view1.py view2.py urls.py how to use a sphinx to autogenerate documentation for that? I want something like that for each in settings module or INSTALLED_APPS (not starting with django.* or 3rdparty.*) give me a auto documentation output based on docstring and autogen documentation and run tests before git commit btw. I tried doing .rst files by hand with .. automodule:: module_name :members: but is sucks for such a big project, and it does not works for settings Is there an autogen method or something? I am not tied to sphinx, is there a better solution for my problem?

This is due to the problem, that the "binded method" dynamicPanel is executed before the update of the first and last properties. how can workaround this behaviour or what is wrong with my code?

    I'm building an hybrid Android App using Phonegap/Apache Cordova. My app should get data from my web api. I'm using JSON to serve the data to the APP. Everythings works fine in the Eclipse browser, but on the Android Emulator is not working. I've inherited a ColdFusion project where at the top of every page various page-setting specific variables are set, such as: <cfset request.page.title = "Example Page"> <cfset request.page.machineTitle = "example_page"> <cfset request.page.isJQueryEnabled = 1> <cfset request.page.showNavigation = 1> <cfset request.page.SWFObjectVersion = 2.2> I'm thinking about creating a database table with just integer page_id varchar key varchar value I'd reduce the variables at the top of every page to just the page id, and then call the DB for the correct settings. Is this a good idea? I hate reinventing the wheel, but this is a really big project that would require many months for a full content migration to a CMS. What are the current practices for storing page settings? (e.g., what does WordPress do? Drupal? etc.)

  • ASP.Net MVC: Showing the same data using different layouts...

    Hi guys I'm wanting to create a page that allows the users to select how they would like to view their data - i.e. summary (which supports grouping), grid (which supports grouping), table (which supports grouping), map, time line, xml, json etc. Now each layout would probably have different use a different view model, which inherit from a common base class/view model. The reason being that each layout needs the object structure that it deals with to be different (some need hierarchical others a flatter structure). Each layout would call the same repository method and each layout would support the same functionality, i.e. searching and filtering (hence these controls would be shared between layouts). The main exception to this would be sorting which only grid and table views would need to support. Now my question is given this what do people think is the best approach. Using DisplayFor to handle the rendering of the different types? Also how do I work this with the actions... I would imagine that I would use the one action, and pass in the layout types, but then how does this support the grouping required for the summary, grid and table views. Do i treat each grouping as just a layout type Also how would this work from a URL point of view - what do people think is the template to support this layout functionality Cheers Anthony

    Hi, I've been looking around the CherryPy documentation, but can't quite get my head around what I want to do. I suspect it might be more of a Python thing than a CherryPy thing... My current class looks something like this: import managerUtils class WebManager: def A(self, **kwds): return managerUtils.runAction("A", kwds) A.enabled = True def B(self, **kwds): return managerUtils.runAction("B", kwds) B.enabled = True def C(self, **kwds): return managerUtils.runAction("C", kwds) C.enabled = True Obviously there's a lot of repetition in here. in managerUtils.py, I have a dict that's something like: actions = {'A': functionToRunForA, 'B': functionToRunForB, 'C': functionToRunForC} Okay, so that's a slightly simplistic view of it, but I'm sure you get the idea. I want to be able to do something like: import managerUtils class WebManager: def __init__(self): for action in managerUtils.actions: f = registerFunction(action) f.enabled = True Any ideas of how to do this?

    the problem i have is that i have multiple nested master pages: level 1: global (header, footer, login, navigation, etc...) level 2: specific (search pages, account pages, etc...) level 3: the page itself now, since only one form can have runat=server, i put the form at global page (so i can handle things like login, feedback, etc...). now with this solution i'd have to also put the for example level 3 (see above) methods, such as search also on the level 1 master page, but this will lead to this page being heavy (for development) with code from all places, even those that are used on a single page only (change email form for example). is there any way to delegate such methods (for example: ChangeEMail) from level 1 (global masterpage) to level 3 (the single page itself). to be even more clear: i want to NOT have to have the method ChangeEMail on the global master page code behind, but would like to 'MOVE' it somehow to the only page that will actually use it. the reason why it currently has to be on the global master is that global master has form runat=server and there can be only one of those per aspx page. this way it will be easier (more logical) to structure the code. thnx (hope i explained it correctly) have searched but did not find any general info on handling this case, usualy the answer is: have all the methods on the master page, but i don't like it. so ANY way of moving it to the specific page would be awesome. thnx

    I see from poking around in the 1.4.4 source that Autofac's ASP.NET integration (via Autofac.Integration.Web) peforms injection of properties on the Page as part of the HttpContext.PreRequestHandlerExecute event handling, but that the page's child controls don't get their properties injected until Page.PreLoad. What this means, though is that the injected properties of child controls are unavailable for use in the OnInit event handler. For example, this works fine: HelloWorld.aspx: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="HelloWorld.aspx.cs" Inherits="HelloWorld" %> <html> <body> <asp:Label runat="server" id="lblMsg" OnInit="HandleInit"/> </body> </html> HelloWorld.aspx.cs: ... protected void HandleInit() { lblMsg.Text = _msgProvider.GetMessage(); } public IMsgProvider _msgProvider { private get; set; } // <-- Injected But changing the HelloWorld Page to a UserControl (.acsx) and putting the UserControl in another page doesn't work because _msgProvider isn't injected early enough.   • Why would the same web form control render different "onclick" logic based on the page structure?

    It was hard to title this question. :) I have a user control that is used to display a list of lookup items in my database and a delete button for each item (Editor User Control below). The delete button has an onClientClick event used to display a confirmation dialog in JavaScript. On page one, the confirmation pops up and functions correctly. The overall structure is: Master Page Page Editor User Control List of items with delete button On page two, the confirmation pops up but regardless of the answer, the page posts back anyway. The structure of this page is: Master Page Page User Control Editor User Control List of items with delete button For some reason, this makes a difference in how the delete button is rendered.   • Ubuntu boot hangs after message "Running /scripts/init-bottom ... done"

    I've been trying to copy a Proxmox container based on the Ubuntu Precise Standard template to a VirtualBox VM. I am now stuck at a point where my new Ubuntu/VirtualBox VM hangs after the message "Running /scripts/init-bottom ... done" during boot. I started by installing Ubuntu Server 12.04.4 LTS on a VirtualBox VM. Ubuntu Server 12.04.4 LTS was the closest "official" Ubuntu ISO to the Proxmox container OS I could find. I installed all updates on both the Proxmox container and on the VirtualBox VM. The idea was to get same version kernal running on the ProxMox container and VirtualBox VM. sudo apt-get update ; sudo apt-get upgrade ; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade sudo reboot rsync the entire proxmox container to a temporary directory in the VirtualBox VM: cd / mkdir /tmp/backup rsync -e ssh -av --exclude={/dev,/proc,/sys,/tmp,/run,/mnt,/media,/lost+found,/boot,/selinux} root@my_proxmox_container_hostname:/ /tmp/backup Shut down the virtual machine, and boot the VM with a bootable linux image. I used the Desktop image of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, ubuntu-12.04.4-desktop-i386.iso Drop to a root prompt. Mount the VM root filesystem: sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt Remove files from most of /mnt cd /mnt sudo rm -rf bin etc home lib opt sbin root usr var Move all of the files from /mnt/backup into /mnt sudo mv /mnt/tmp/backup/* /mnt Rebooted system. For me, at this point the system freezes after starting, after the message: Running /scripts/init-bottom ... done I've tried reinstalling GRUB and all manner of other thing. I am almost ready to give up.
