  • cannot print from flash-player plugin

    I am running flash-player plug-in 10.0.32.10 inside of Firefox on a SLED 11 machine. Firefox can print to the network printer without issue from File Print. However, I cannot get the flash-player plugin to print at all. The print dialog comes up, asks for which printer, and which pages. I click Print and it was as if I had pressed cancel. Is this a known issue?

  • Windows 8 with LiveID login authenticates as Guest to remote SQl Server

    I have a network where several users are using Office Accounting 2009 in multi-user client/server mode. OA is built on SQL Server. One PC acts as the 'server' and has the SQl Server instance, the others have only the application installed and no SQL instance, all of the apps connect remotely to the SQL instance on the 'server'. I'm using the term 'server' loosely here, it is just a normal workstation that happens to be designated as the server and runs the SQL instance. There is no NT domain, all user accounts are local accounts. The way that OA works in multi-user mode is that each user is required to have a local account with the same username and password on both the client and 'server' PCs. This has been working well, no along comes Windows 8. I use my 'Microsoft Account' aka LiveID to log into Windows 8. Office Accounting runs fine and attempts to connect to the database, but fails, 'you do not have permission to perform this operation'. In the SQL logs, I get this error: 2012-10-28 17:54:01.32 Logon Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. 2012-10-28 17:54:01.32 Logon Login failed for user 'SERVER\Guest'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure SERVER is the hostname of the server. So it seems to be authenticating as 'Guest'?? To verify this, I enabled the Guest account on the 'server' PC and then added Guest as an allowed user within Office Accounting (this simply creates the user in SQL and gives it an appropriate database role). Sure enough, My Windows 8 PC was then able to connect to the database when using Office Accounting. Clearly, having users authenticate as 'Guest' stinks from a security and auditing standpoint. So what I need are some ideas for how to work around this. I've tried switching the Windows 8 PC to a 'local account' and that works too, but requires giving up significant functionality on the Windows 8 PC. What I really need is a way to force the Windows 8 PC to use a specific set of credentials when connecting to the remote SQL instance. Office Accounting takes the logged in username, which is my LiveID and doesn't correspond to any Windows user name. Anyone solved this issue?

    I am trying to connect a Samsung 22" SyncMaster with my laptop running Windows 7 32-bit, an AMD HD 6500 Mobility. Though Catalyst Control Centre as well as Windows identify the correct resolution of 1650x1080, and it is selected, it isn't displayed. Looks more like a lower resolution that's getting stretched over the monitor. The weird part: The monitor worked for years without problems, one day it decided not to work properly anymore. Maybe some update issue, I have no idea.

    I have a dual core Intel i5 Ubuntu Server 10.04 LTS system running kernel 2.6.32-22-server #33-Ubuntu SMP with three 1TB SATA hard drives set up in a RAID5 array using linux md devices. I have read about the RAID5 write hole and am concerned: if my linux system locks up or kernel panics, should I be assume that the integrety of my data has been compromised and restore from backup? How can I know if the data on the RAID5 array is "safe"?

When I try to execute it, I get an error that it is not a valid win 32 application. I think the JDK version is correct. Can somebody help me out?     My problem is that a vendor is providing me with a 64bit application (packed in a 64bit installer) but it goes and installs to the x86 (Program Files) Folder and he keeps telling me its OK but I want it to install in the Program Files directory; as the 32 bit version does that and scripts for the app are developed based on this assumption.     This week my website has disappeared twice for no apparent reason. I logged onto my server (Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2) and restarted the World Web Publishing service, website still down. I tried restarting a few other services like DNS and Cold Fusion and the website was still down. In the end I restarted the server and the website reappeared. Last night the website went down again. This time I logged on and looked at the event log. SCARY STUFF! There were hundreds of these: Event Type: Information Event Source: TermService Event Category: None Event ID: 1012 Date: 30/01/2012 Time: 15:25:12 User: N/A Computer: SERVER51338 Description: Remote session from client name a exceeded the maximum allowed failed logon attempts. The session was forcibly terminated. At a frequency of around 3 -5 a minute. At about the time my website died there was one of these: Event Type: Information Event Source: W3SVC Event Category: None Event ID: 1074 Date: 30/01/2012 Time: 19:36:14 User: N/A Computer: SERVER51338 Description: A worker process with process id of '6308' serving application pool 'DefaultAppPool' has requested a recycle because the worker process reached its allowed processing time limit. Which is obviously what killed the web service. There were then a few of these: Event Type: Error Event Source: TermDD Event Category: None Event ID: 50 Date: 30/01/2012 Time: 20:32:51 User: N/A Computer: SERVER51338 Description: The RDP protocol component "DATA ENCRYPTION" detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client. With no more of the first error type. I am concerned that someone is trying to brute force their way into my server. I have disabled all the accounts apart from the IIS ones and Administrator (which I have renamed). I have also changed the password to an even more secure one. I don't know why this brute force attack caused the webservice to stop and I don't know why restarting the service didn't fix the problem. What should I do to make sure my server is secure and what should I do to make sure the webserver doesn't go down any more? Thanks.

    On NFS server I've got user with UID=1024 and GID=1204. On client side too. Both servers are CentOS 6.4 (2.6.32-358.2.1.el6.x86_64). Right now anonuid/anongid is not working.   • XP shared folders not accessible after BIOS changed

    Here's what worked for over a year: PC A runs Windows 7, PC B runs Windows XP. Both are on the same subnet behind a router. A uses user account X, but logs in to PC B using the Administrator account. PC B is a Dell Precision 470. A known problem with these is that sometimes when plugging in their power cable they somehow loses all BIOS settings. This happened yesterday. After this happens Windows won't boot, because the default BIOS setting is 'RAID ON' while there is no RAID configured. No problem though, changing the BIOS settings to 'RAID OFF' makes it boot without problems. Note that in the meantime, nothing config-related was changed on machine A. It wasn't even on. Indeed after doing this, everything is fine. Everything includes all normal operations, remote desktop from PC A to PC B, running Synergy between A and B, accessing shared folders from B to A. But accessing the shared folders on B from A does not work any more. I tried pretty much everything I found via Google (fiddling with policies/registry kes/...) but no avail. > ping -a 192.168.2.2 Pinging A [192.168.2.2] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.2.2: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=128 > net view \\192.168.2.2 System error 5 has occurred. Putting the disk back into A, same problem remains. Why does this depend on hardware, and more important, on which hardware?

  • How to restore a Windows Easy Transfer file from a 64bit machine to a 32bit machine?

    Using a 32bit laptop, I saved my settings etc. using "Windows Easy Transfer" from the Win7 RC. I set the file destination to a Win2K R2 machine that happened to be 64bit. When I re-installed my laptop and tried to restore my settings from the file I'd saved I was surprised to get an error: "Windows Easy Transfer can't transfer files from a 64-bit computer to a 32-bit computer." Is there a known workaround? Ideas on how to unpack the file and get my stuff?
