• Creating a user called 'root'

  I am creating Virtual Machines using the ubuntu-vm-builder. The syntax goes something like this: ubuntu-vm-builder kvm precise \ --domain newvm \ --dest newvm \ --arch i386 \ --hostname hostnameformyvm \ --mem 256 \ --user john \ --pass doe \ --ip 192.168.0.12 \ --mask 255.255.255.0 \ --net 192.168.0.0 \ --bcast 192.168.0.255 \ --gw 192.168.0.1 \ --dns 192.168.0.1 \ --mirror http://archive.localubuntumirror.net/ubuntu \ --components main,universe \ --addpkg acpid \ --addpkg vim \ --addpkg openssh-server \ --addpkg avahi-daemon \ --libvirt qemu:///system ; I need to enable the 'root' user account after creating each of my VMs (and supply a password for it). I was just wondering whether I can take this short-cut of supplying the username (--user) as root in this command itself. If I supply username as root to create my VMs, am I creating/enabling the root user, or just creating a user named as root? p.s.: any better ways to achieve my task are also welcome. But I don't want to manually meddle with each VM after its creation

Rather than having loads of categories and sub-categories like, for example, Builder, Electrician, Carpenter etc, we would like to have more general and easier on the eye category names. So for example we have House, Computer, Education, Art etc. So a builder would be in category House and a few others. Will this style negatively effect our SEO and ranking? And if so, should we abandon and go back to traditional categories and sub-categories?

• Drools flow architecture, Drools flow events with AND join nodes

  I have been evaluating a number of frameworks including jBPM and Drools flow for my application requirements. Lots of the opinions seem to be inclined towards Drools flow as its more flexible, knowledge oriented, easier to integrate with business rules, etc.. The application is some sort of an Email Campaign manager , where different customers can sign in, prepare (design) and launch email campaigns. The application should be able to do the following : 1- Receive a list of email addresses, send emails to each of these addresses starting from a certain date and during a certain time interval of the day , do some custom actions, and then wait for reply emails. 2- If a reply email is received and depending on the response text of the email , and depending on the time the email was received certain actions need to happen, web service calls need to take place, and error handling for these calls. 3- The application will manage and run many and different campaigns (different customers and different flows for each customer) at any point of time. The first question is : Is Drools flow the way to go about this? My main concerns are scalability, suspending, resuming flows, and long wait, and flows management. As you see from the requirements : There is a scheduling part : Certain flows need to be run at a certain point in time, they need to get suspended and then resumed. For example start sending emails starting on Dec 1st 2010 and send emails only in the time interval between 08:00 and 17:00 GMT. By then it might be that all subscribers have been sent emails, but it might not be the case, the process needs to (resume) on Dec 2nd and send a second batch, however certain (users) already received emails and they should be able to (continue at different stages of the flow) There are long wait states : Days or even weeks , i need to persist, suspend / resume and terminate flows (manage flows) External Events : This is where i got stuck first, i tried to put together a simple flow (see attached screenshot) See image http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/9620/workflowwithevents.png , there is a start node , connected to an action node, connected to a join. An event node is connected to a second action node, which is connected to the join. The join is an AND join , after the join there is an action and the end node. The flow does not continue past the AND join and the flow seems to get stuck. The action following the node does not get triggered. I also went through the drools flow documentation , and all the example codes, however i didn't find anything there. In addition any hints about the way to go about architecting the solution, and implementing it would be great.

  Hi, I want to create a normal AlertDialog. I used the example provided by the android dev docs. I just changed the DIALOG_PAUSED_ID to DIALOG_DELETEDB. • Problems with this code?

  I'm trying to use this code which is an example taken from here https://gist.github.com/2383248 , but it is coming up with a error on the public void onClick which is Multiple markers at this line - implements android.view.View.OnClickListener.onClick - Syntax error, insert "}" to complete MethodBody, but when I add the brace it just throws another error after many tries and fails of different suggestions and ideas.   Summary I want to be able to call a JavaScript function from a Flex app using ExternalInterface and pass a reference to a different JavaScript function as an argument. Base Example Given the following JavaScript: function foo(callback) { // ... do some stuff callback(); } function bar() { // do some stuff that should happen after a call to foo } I want to call foo from my flex app using ExternalInterface and pass a reference to bar as the callback. Why Really,foo is not my function (but, rather, FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog), which due to restrictions on Facebook iframe apps can only be called on a button click. My button, for design reasons, is in the Flex app. Fortunately, it's possible to call ExternalInterface.call("FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog", callback) to display the bookmark dialog. But, FB.Connect.showBookmarkDialog requires a JS callback so, should I want to receive a callback (which I do), I need to pass a reference to a JS function as the single argument. • Can I version dotfiles within a project without merging their history into the main line?

  I'm sure this title is fairly obscure. I'm wondering if there is some way in git to tell it that you want a certain file to use different versions of a file when moving between branches, but to overall be .gitignored from the repository. Here's my scenario: I've got a Flash Builder project (for a Flex app) that I control with git. Flex apps in Flash Builder projects create three files: .actionScriptProperties, .flexProperties, and .project. These files contain lots of local file system references (source folders, output folders, etc.), so naturally we .gitignore them from our repo. Today, I wanted to use a new library in my project, so I made a separate git branch called lib, removed the old version of the library and put in the new one. Unfortunately, this Flex library information gets stored in one of those three dot files (not sure which offhand). So when I had to switch back to the first branch (master) earlier, I was getting compile errors because master was now linked to the new library (which basically negated why I made lib in the first place). So I'm wondering if there's any way for me to continue to .gitignore these files (so my other developers don't get them), but tell git that I want it to use some kind of local "branch version" so I can locally use different versions of the files for different branches.

  I have a flex project, in one of the screen of my UI, I create a HTTP service that call a "doGet" J2EE servlet through the GET method; and I bind the service call to a button. The service print log to system.out so I know when it is run. The problem I have is, when I click said button the first time, the servlets do what it is supposed to do, and print the stack to system.out, but if I click another time, nothing happens. Any idea what might be the cause ?   I have been having a problem with using Bundler and being able to access my gems without having to require them somewhere, as config.gem used to do that for me (as far as I know).   I have encountered an unusual difference in the way that the .Net client for Azure and the direct REST API bring back streams of binary data. If I use the CloundBlob.DownloadToStream() vs. getting the response stream from the HTTP response, I get streams with the same length, but different content. Specifically the REST response seems to 0 out a series of bytes. I've discovered this issue because I'm trying to use the byte range feature for blobs which is currently not supported in the .Net client (if I'm wrong on this point and someone can point at where I can do this it might make the rest of this question irrelevant). However, if instead of doing a select on all (*) if I try to name individual columns to return from the query I get the information I asked for, but rather than being split up into seperate entries in the data table I get a string in the first index of the data table that looked something like: "(0,5,false,Bob Smith,7)" And the data is correct, I would be expecting 0, then 5, then a boolean, then some text etc. But I would (obviously) prefer it to not be returned as just one big string. Anyone know why if I do a select on * I get a datatable as expected, but if I do a select on specific columns I get a data table with one entry that is the string of the values I'm asking for?

  How to read the highlighted/Selected Text from any window using c#. i tried 2 approaches. Send "^c" whenever user selects some thing. But in this case my clipboard is flooded with lots of unnecessary data. • Reporting Services 2005 Model using WCF Service for data

  I am trying to use WCF Services as models for SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 reports. I can do this if I design the reports in the designer but cannot do it for a Reporting Model project which I think I need to make reports in the Report Builder.
