  • Why am I getting unexpected output trying to write a hash structure to a file?

    I have a hash in which I store the products a customer buys (%orders). It uses the product code as key and has a reference to an array with the other info as value. At the end of the program, I have to rewrite the inventory to the updated version (i.e. subtract the quantity of the bought items) This is how I do rewrite the inventory: sub rewriteInventory{ open(FILE,'>inv.txt'); foreach $key(%inventory){ print FILE "$key\|$inventory{$key}[0]\|$inventory{$key}[1]\|$inventory{$key}[2]\n" } close(FILE); } where $inventory{$key}[x] is 0 → Title, 1 → price, 2 → quantity. The problem here is that when I look at inv.txt afterwards, I see things like this: CD-911|Lady Gaga - The Fame|15.99|21 ARRAY(0x145030c)||| BOOK-1453|The Da Vinci Code - Dan Brown|14.75|12 ARRAY(0x145bee4)||| Where do these ARRAY(0x145030c)||| entries come from? Or more important, how do I get rid of them?

    i was trying to extract a particular set of nodes from the following XML structure using XML::Twig, but have been stuck ever since.     Hi, I'm a Delphi developer on the Windows platform, recently read the PHP tutorial at W3CSchools, it looks interesting. We all know scripting languages are very good at web site development, but I also want to utilize it to improve my productivity or get some tedious tasks done quickly, maybe some quick-and-dirty string/file processing? How do you usually do with scripting languages apart from software development? And we need a responsive, decent IDE/editor in order to gain productivity when writing scripts for this purpose?   • How can I run a BitchX when I don't have ssh or shell access?

    I just installed an IRC bot, B****X (Don't ask, I don't know - the real name is not censored). I did all of the configuration and chmod'ed the pl files to 755, but running it won't work. My host does not allow SSH/Shell (which is how the documentation says to runs he script), but just going to the URL usually works because of this. However, I get a 500 (Internal Server Error) error.   • Why does the same Getopt::Long code work differently in different programs?

    The following code works in one script yet in another only works if a specify the -- end of options flag before specifying an option: my $opt; GetOptions( 'help|h' => sub { usage("you want help?? hahaha, hopefully you're not serious!!"); }, 'file|f=s' => \$opt->{FILE}, 'report|r' => \$opt->{REPORT}, ) or usage("Bad Options"); In other words, the same code words in good.pl and bad.pl like so: good.pl -f bad.pl -- -f If I try bad.pl -f I get unknown option:f. Anyone have any clue as to what can cause this behavior? Thanks in advance! I've solved this..... and btw it's a VERY clear question (so why the downvotes)? I'll state it again: What would cause the identical GetOptions block to work in these 2 ways: "good.pl -f" "bad.pl -- -f" see how clear? Maybe you guys should think about it as if it were a TEST!

    I have Python 3.1.2 and I'm using Windows XP. Where can I see Python's implementation of the Mersenne Twister? In the Python docs it is stated that the Mersenne Twister was written in C and the Python History and License ( http://docs.python.org/py3k/license.html?highlight=mersenne%20twister ) states that "The _random module includes code based on a download from http://www.math.keio.ac.jp/matumoto/MT2002/emt19937ar.html." random.py imports _random which apparently has the Mersenne Twister implementation in it. I can't seem to locate _random. Any thoughts?

  • How can I handle template dependencies in Template Toolkit?

    My static web pages are built from a huge bunch of templates which are inter-included using Template Toolkit's "import" and "include", so page.html looks like this: [% INCLUDE top %] [% IMPORT middle %] Then top might have even more files included. I have very many of these files, and they have to be run through to create the web pages in various languages (English, French, etc., not computer languages). This is a very complicated process and when one file is updated I would like to be able to automatically remake only the necessary files, using a makefile or something similar. Are there any tools like makedepend for C files which can parse template toolkit templates and create a dependency list for use in a makefile? Or are there better ways to automate this process?

    Hi All, I am newbie in Drupal 6. I am looking for customizing User registration form. Apparently found that while adding user using Admin login allows registration form to have fields like email address, username, password,confirm password, etc with validations. But when anonymous use wants to register, then only fields like email address and username are displayed. I tried with Profile module available. But now how could I add some fields (password, confirm password, terms & condition check and receive news letter check box)and behavior (password, confirm password validation etc.)? If I am adding such fields they are also get visible in AdminAdd user form resulting duplicate fields like Password,Confirm password. Could you please suggest me how can I do this? I tried googling but confused me a lot as I am beginner to Drupal.

    hi all, i am actually trying to change the color index for the first word with braces in an array, for eg if i have an array like this... @array=" (Love) is (beautiful), Its like an (air), So it can be (only) felt, (Cannot) be (seen)." and i need the colour of the first word that are inside the braces () ie "(Love), (Cannot)" including () to be in RED and rest of the contents in BLACK and print the entire contents of the array in msword(2003) using win32::ole....and am using windows xp.This array is just an example the contents of an array will change but first word with braces has to be printed in red can any one help me pls... its very urgent...Thanks a lot to all who help me in this regard.

When I am logged in, I can create articles and other users have the ability to browse the articles. I want to be able to allow access to any anonymous non-user to be able to read these articles.   • importing same module more than once

    So after a few hours, I discovered the cause of a bug in my application. My app's source is structure like: main/ __init__.py folderA/ __init__.py fileA.py fileB.py Really, there are about 50 more files. But that's not the point. In main/__init__.py, I have this code: from folderA.fileA import * in folderA/__init__.py I have this code: sys.path.append(pathToFolderA) in folderA/fileB.py I have this code: from fileA import * The problem is that fileA gets imported twice. However, I only want to import it once. The obvious way to fix this (to me atleast) is to change certain paths from path to folderA.path But I feel like Python should not even have this error in the first place. What other workarounds are there that don't require each file to know it's absolute location?
