  • How to display a busy message over a wpf screen

    Hey, I have a WPF application based on Prism4. When performing slow operations, I want to show a busy screen. I will have a large number of screens, so I'm trying to build a single solution into the framework rather than adding the busy indicator to each screen. These long running operations run in a background thread. This allows the UI to be updated (good) but does not stop the user from using the UI (bad). What I'd like to do is overlay a control with a spinning dial sort of thing and have that control cover the entire screen (the old HTML trick with DIVs). When the app is busy, the control would display thus block any further interaction as well as showing the spinny thing. To set this up, I thought I could just have my app screen in a canvas along with the spinny thing (with a greater ZIndex) then just make the spinny thing visible as required. This, however, is getting hard. Canvases do not seem well set up for this and I think I might be barking up the wrong tree. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

    I'm trying to open a text file for reading in a Delphi 7 app, but am getting I/O error 32 (sharing violation) because another application already has the file open. I've tried setting FileMode to "fmOpenRead or fmShareDenyNone" but now realise this doesn't apply to text files anyway.   • How to create digital signature that can not be used to reproduce the message twice

    I am creating a client-server application and I'd like to send data from server to client securely. Using public/private key algorithms makes sense and in PHP we can use openssl_sign and openssl_verify functions to check that the data came by someone who has the private key. Now imagine that one of the actions sent by server to client is destructive in nature. If somebody uses an HTTP sniffer to catch this command (which will be signed properly) how can I further protect the communication to ensure that only commands coming from our server get processed by the client? I was thinking about using current UTC time as part of the encrypted data but client time might be off. Is there a simple solution to the problem?

    I'm trying to write a bookmarklet that grabs any selected text on a web page and sends it to my website. It should (hopefully) work in Chrome, FFX, Safari, and IE.     I'm attempting to display data through the text of a Pushpin object. However, the text color defaults to white which is nigh-invisible when the backdrop is a road-style MapView. Looking through the API, paying especially close attention to PushpinOptions, I couldn't find anything that manipulated text color. Considering that this seems to a fairly basic feature, I'm a little confused as to why it doesn't exist or at least is really hard to find. Am I missing something or does Bing Maps for Android really not let you change the default text color for a Pushpin object?

  • Identifying individual values in a text box using Flash

    I want to identify specific strings in a text box from user input to add to a score variable, like so - if (userWords.text == firstWord) { score = score + 1; } The example given adds 1 to the score, but if a user adds a space then a second word the text box views it as a whole and not individual words, resulting in no values added to the score variable. The problem lies with the whole text box being viewed as one entire string. Instead, I want to split it up so word1 will add 1 to the score, word2 will add 1 to the score, etc. I am ultra confused with this problem, so thank you to anyone that may help.

    Is there a way of vertical aligning text and an image in a list? e.g. <li>Some text here <img src="image.jpg" alt="" /></li> The text doesn't align in the middle of the side of the image, it appears at the bottom then the image is next to it. I need the text to be in the center point between the image on the side. What's the best way of doing it? I know having a image inside a list isn't valid HTML (AFAIK). Thanks :)

    Sort of a complicated scenario - just curious if anyone else could come up with something: I have a Text control and when I scroll it and stop the scroll with the cursor over some text that has a url, the cursor doesn't revert to a hand, and also flash player starts acting as if a selection is being made from the last cursor position. So IOW a bonafide bug in flash as far as I can determine. The above probably wasn't completely clear so let me elaborate. If you grab a scrollbar thumb and start moving it up and down, you don't actually have to keep the mouse pointer on the thumb while doing so. When you stop the scroll, the mouse pointer could be outside the browser window, inside your flash application, but not currently on the scroll bar thumb, or wherever. The previously mentioned bug occurs when you stop the scroll with the mouse pointer positioned over text with an html anchor (a hyperlink). At that point the cursor enters into some state of limbo, and doesn't show the url hand pointer, and furthermore acts as if some text selection is taking place from the last cursor position prior to the scroll. So the question would be, what sort of event could I simulate in code to jolt flash out of this erroneous state it is in. And furthermore in what event could I perform this simulated event (given that for example there is no AS3 event to signal the end of a scroll.) To be clear, the Text control in question is on a canvas, and that canvas (call it A) is on another canvas which actually owns the scrollbar, and scrolling takes place by changing the scrollRect of canvas A.

  • Error message when trying to insert method into touchesBegan

    I am trying to create a new method within my TapDetectingImageView file and it's giving me a warning that it cannot find the method even though I have it declared in the .h file. The specific three warnings all point to the @end line in the .m file when I build it and they say: "Incomplete implementation of class 'TapDetectingImageView' ; 'Method definition for '-functionA:' not found" ; "Method definition for '-functionB:' not found" What am I missing? Am I not allowed to do this in a protocol file like TapDetectingImageView?     I am using the Mac OS X Apple Script Editor and (while debugging) instead of writing a lot of display dialog statements, I'd like to write the results of some calculation in the window below, called "Result" (I have the German UI here, so the translation is a guess).     I have some keywords in the header of my website. Every few second I want one of them to glow up with the CSS text-shadow property. I've underlined the first line of text but now the second line seems to have drifted below.
