  • Add Core Data Index to certain Attributes via migration

    - by steipete
For performance reasons, i want to set the Indexed Attribute to some of my entities. I created a new core data model version to perform the changes. Core Data detects the changes and migrates my model to the new version, however, NO INDEXES ARE GENERATED. If I recreate the database from scratch, the indexes are there. I checked with SQLite Browser both on the iPhone and on the Simulator. The problem only occurs if a database in the prior format is already there. Is there a way to manually add the indexes? Write some sql for that? Or am I missing something? I did already some more critical migrations, no problems there. But those missing indexes are bugging me. Thanks for helping!

  • Problem with entityForName & ManagedObjectContext when extending tutorial material

    - by Martin KS
Afternoon all, I tried to add a second data entity to the persistent store in the (locations) coredata tutorial code, and then access this in a new view. I think that I've followed the tutorial, and checked that I'm doing a clean build etc, but can't see what to change to prevent it crashing. I'm afraid I'm at my wits end with this one, and can't seem to find the step that I've missed. I've pasted the header and code files below, please let me know if I need to share any more of the code. The crash seems to happen on the line: NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; There is one other line in the code that refers to galleryviewcontroller at the moment, and that's in the main application delegate: galleryViewController.managedObjectContext = [self managedObjectContext]; GalleryViewController.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface GalleryViewController : UIViewController { NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; int rowNumber; IBOutlet UILabel *lblMessage; UIBarButtonItem *addButton; NSMutableArray *imagesArray; } @property (readwrite) int rowNumber; @property (nonatomic, retain) UILabel *lblMessage; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *imagesArray; @property (nonatomic, retain) NSManagedObjectContext *managedObjectContext; @property (nonatomic, retain) UIBarButtonItem *addButton; -(void)updateRowNumber:(int)theIndex; -(void)addImage; @end GalleryViewController.m #import "RootViewController.h" #import "LocationsAppDelegate.h" #import "Album.h" #import "GalleryViewController.h" #import "Image.h" @implementation GalleryViewController @synthesize lblMessage, rowNumber, addButton, managedObjectContext; @synthesize imagesArray; /* // The designated initializer. Override if you create the controller programmatically and want to perform customization that is not appropriate for viewDidLoad. - (id)initWithNibName:(NSString *)nibNameOrNil bundle:(NSBundle *)nibBundleOrNil { if ((self = [super initWithNibName:nibNameOrNil bundle:nibBundleOrNil])) { // Custom initialization } return self; } */ -(void)updateRowNumber:(int)theIndex{ rowNumber=theIndex; LocationsAppDelegate *mainDelegate =(LocationsAppDelegate *)[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate]; Album *anAlbum = [mainDelegate.albumsArray objectAtIndex:rowNumber]; lblMessage.text = anAlbum.uniqueAlbumIdentifier; } // Implement viewDidLoad to do additional setup after loading the view, typically from a nib. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; addButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemAdd target:self action:@selector(addImage)]; addButton.enabled = YES; self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = addButton; /* Found this in another answer, adding it to the code didn't help. if (managedObjectContext == nil) { managedObjectContext = [[[UIApplication sharedApplication] delegate] managedObjectContext]; } */ NSFetchRequest *request = [[NSFetchRequest alloc] init]; NSEntityDescription *entity = [NSEntityDescription entityForName:@"Album" inManagedObjectContext:[self managedObjectContext]]; [request setEntity:entity]; // Order the albums by creation date, most recent first. NSSortDescriptor *sortDescriptor = [[NSSortDescriptor alloc] initWithKey:@"imagePath" ascending:NO]; NSArray *sortDescriptors = [[NSArray alloc] initWithObjects:sortDescriptor, nil]; [request setSortDescriptors:sortDescriptors]; [sortDescriptor release]; [sortDescriptors release]; // Execute the fetch -- create a mutable copy of the result. NSError *error = nil; NSMutableArray *mutableFetchResults = [[managedObjectContext executeFetchRequest:request error:&error] mutableCopy]; if (mutableFetchResults == nil) { // Handle the error. } [self setImagesArray:mutableFetchResults]; int a = 5; int b = 10; for( int i=0; i<[imagesArray count]; i++ ) { if( a == 325 ) { a = 5; b += 70; } UIImageView *any = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(a,b,70,60)]; any.image = [imagesArray objectAtIndex:i]; any.tag = i; [self.view addSubview:any]; [any release]; a += 80; } } -(void)addImage{ NSString *msg = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%i",rowNumber]; UIAlertView *alert = [[UIAlertView alloc] initWithTitle:@"Add image to" message:msg delegate:self cancelButtonTitle:@"No" otherButtonTitles:@"Yes", nil]; [alert show]; [alert release]; } - (void)didReceiveMemoryWarning { // Releases the view if it doesn't have a superview. • How to release memory created from CFStringTokenizerCreate?

    - by Boon
    I use CFRelease to release the CFStringTokenizerRef obtained from CFStringTokenizerCreate call. But instruments is reporting memory leak at around this area. Am I missing something? CFStringTokenizerRef tokenRef = CFStringTokenizerCreate(NULL, (CFStringRef)contents, CFRangeMake(0, contents.length), kCFStringTokenizerUnitWordBoundary, NULL); CFStringTokenizerTokenType tokenType; // leak reported here while ((tokenType = CFStringTokenizerAdvanceToNextToken(tokenRef)) != kCFStringTokenizerTokenNone) } CFRelease(tokenRef);

  • TFS Client APIs for creating workitem templates?

    - by amazedsaint
Of course, it is pretty possible to create work items, get a list of work items etc in TFS. In addition to this, we need to have the functionality of allowing our users to create their own work item templates, for various file types. Whether the TFS Client APIs are capable of uploading work item templates to TFS server?

  • UITableView - Select nearest row after row deletion.

    - by sunnycmf
like build in apple notes app, after you swipe to delete the selected row, it will select the nearest available row automatically. The logic should be: if row count 0 then if deleted_row == last row then select deleted_row_index-1 row else select deleted_row_index+1 row end end i have try to implement the above logic in the commitEditingStyle event, but the selection fail. the selectRowAtIndexPath logic just don't work in this event, if i apply it in a button, it works. any idea?

  • Crashing when pushing a XIB based view controller onto navigation controller stack

    - by Michael
I was attempting to clean up the implementation for a sub-panel on a navigation controller stack, so that the navigation bar could be customized in the XIB instead of doing it manually in the viewDidLoad method. The original (working) setup had the XIB set up with the "File's Owner" class set to the view controller class, and then the view at the top level. This works fine. In the "Interface Builder User Guide", p. 71, it describes the recommended way to build the XIBs for sub-panels ("additional navigation levels"). This approach leaves the "File's Owner" class as NSObject, but adds a UIViewController at the top level, and nests the view (and navigation item) underneath it. The UIViewController's view automatically gets connected to the contained view. When I try to push the controller init'd with this new XIB, the app crashes because of a missing view: SettingsViewController *controller = [[SettingsViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"SettingsView" bundle:nil]; [self.navigationController pushViewController:controller animated:YES]; 2010-04-23 11:17:37.135 xxxx[1173:207] * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInternalInconsistencyException', reason: '-[UIViewController _loadViewFromNibNamed:bundle:] loaded the "SettingsTestView" nib but the view outlet was not set.' I've double checked everything, and tried building a clean XIB from scratch, but get the same result. I looked through a number of the code sample projects, and NONE of them use the documented/recommended approach--they all use the File's Owner class and manually set up the navigation bar in viewDidLoad like I originally had it. Is it possible to get it working the "recommended" way? Thanks! Michael

  • iPhone. UITableView and pushing view controller

    - by Jacek
Hello. I have a working UITableView in my view controller. It is being successfully populated and seems to be fine. However, when I try using following function, new view is not loaded (function is called, I get output from NSLog): - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSLog(@"asf"); [self.navigationController pushViewController:sendRequestFavoriteController animated:YES]; } What might be a problem? I get no compilation or debugging errors/warnings. Maybe UITabBar's navigation controller?

  • UIView subclass draws background despite completely empty drawRect: - why?

    - by Pascal
So, I have a custom UIView subclass which enables drawing of rounded edges. The thing draws perfectly, however the background always fills the whole bounds, despite clipping to a path first. The border also draws above the rectangular background, despite the fact that I draw the border in drawRect: before the background. So I removed the whole content of drawRect:, which is now virtually empty - nevertheless the background gets drawn! Anybody an explanation for this? I set the backgroundColor in Interface Builder. Thanks!

  • Detecting if music is playing?

    - by Flafla2
Hi! My app involves music(iPodMusic), and there is a UISwitch toggling play/pause. My goal is to be able to detect if music is playing, so that therefore the play/pause switch can say 'play' when music is playing and 'pause' if it isn't.

  • iphone - gesture not working on animated view

    - by Mike
    I have this animated view and a gesture assigned to it... [self.view setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; UIImageView *sequence = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"frame0.png"]]; [sequence setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; sequence.center = CGPointMake(centroX, centroY); NSMutableArray *array = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init] ; for (int i=0; i<30; i++) { UIImage *oneImage = [UIImage imageNamed:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"frame%d.png",i]]; [array addObject:oneImage]; } sequence.animationImages = array; sequence.animationDuration = 1.0; sequence.animationRepeatCount = 1; [self.view addSubview:sequence]; [sequence release]; sequence.startAnimating; sequence.image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"frame29.png"]; // doSomething never runs when I tap the image... why? UITapGestureRecognizer *singleTap = [[UITapGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(doSomething)]; [singleTap setDelegate:self]; [singleTap setCancelsTouchesInView:NO]; [singleTap setDelaysTouchesEnded:NO]; [sequence addGestureRecognizer:singleTap]; [singleTap release]; The gesture is never called... why? I have no other gesture associated anywhere. thanks for any help.

  • UIImage imageNamed not autoreleasing correctly

    - by MrHen
For some reason, the retain/release behavior in the following code has me completely baffled. selectedImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_72.png"]; [selectedImage release]; This should break but does not. Why? I thought imageNamed autoreleased itself which means the release here is redundant and should break when the autorelease occurs. Here are snippets relevant to selectedImage from the .h and .m files: @property (nonatomic, readonly) UIImage *selectedImage; @synthesize delegate, selectedImage, spacerBottom, currentIndex; Other notes, this does break: selectedImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_72.png"]; [selectedImage release]; [selectedImage release]; //objc[55541]: FREED(id): message release sent to freed object=0x59245b0 //Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION”. As does this: selectedImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_72.png"]; [selectedImage release]; [selectedImage autorelease]; //objc[55403]: FREED(id): message autorelease sent to freed object=0x59b54c0 //Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION”. And so does the following: selectedImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_72.png"]; [selectedImage autorelease]; [selectedImage release]; //objc[55264]: FREED(id): message release sent to freed object=0x592c9a0 //Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION”. And so does this: selectedImage = [UIImage imageNamed:@"icon_72.png"]; [selectedImage autorelease]; [selectedImage autorelease]; //objc[55635]: FREED(id): message release sent to freed object=0x5b305d0 //Program received signal: “EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION”.

  • Android simple question

    - by Josemalive
    Hi, I have an android application that shows a grid view that shows: 1 2 3 4 GridView gridview=(GridView)findViewById(R.id.GridView_test); DataBaseHelper dbhelper=new DataBaseHelper(this); ArrayList<String> test=new ArrayList<String>(5); backlinksadapter.add("1"); backlinksadapter.add("2"); backlinksadapter.add("3"); backlinksadapter.add("4"); ArrayAdapter mAdapter=new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1, test); gridview.setAdapter(mAdapter); By the moment is working, but i would like to show foreach line of the grid, 2 columns with the values of a 2 dimensional array (something like the GridView in ASP.Net - as datasource -). I would like to show: 1 | Person 1 2 | Person 2 3 | Person 3 4 | Person 4 Any idea? Thanks in advance. Jose.

  • Placement/Positioning/Alignment of UIScrollView w.r.t. length of Title NSString

    - by Shoaibi
I have a scenario where i show stuff like: ----------------------------------- titleview (UITextView) ______________ tArea (UIScrollView) ttextview (UITextView) ----------------------------------- Now here is the condition: Length of titleview's text is dynamic, varies based on user input. Because of the condition I have trouble placing tArea e.g. UIScrollView on the screen, it either appears way too below than the titleview, or overlaps it. Previously what i did: Count the number of characters in titleview.text.length and divide them by 27 (e.g. characters in one line when using boldSystemFontOfSize:20) and multiply by 10 to get the starting X of tArea e.g. UIScrollView. But that sucked. Because i had to duplicate code for rotation to landscape. What do i have now? : CGSize titlesize = [title sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:20] constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(5, 90) lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; ttitleview = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5, 5, 310,titlesize.height)]; ttitleview.text = title; ttitleview.font = [UIFont boldSystemFontOfSize:20]; ttitleview.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; ttitleview.editable = NO; [self.view addSubview:ttitleview]; CGSize textsize = [ttext sizeWithFont:[UIFont systemFontOfSize:20] constrainedToSize:CGSizeMake(5, 350) lineBreakMode:UILineBreakModeWordWrap]; tArea = [[UIScrollView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(5, titlesize.height, 310, 230)]; tArea.contentSize = CGSizeMake(310, textsize.height+20); tArea.pagingEnabled = FALSE; tArea.scrollEnabled = TRUE; tArea.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; [self.view addSubview:tArea]; ttextview = [[UITextView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 310, textsize.height + 20)]; ttextview.text = ttext; ttextview.font = [UIFont systemFontOfSize:20]; ttextview.backgroundColor = [UIColor clearColor]; ttextview.editable = NO; [tArea addSubview:ttextview]; But its no use. Looking for an elegant solution than this.

  • Hiding a navigation bar via scrolling (safari style)

    - by eagle
After a page is loaded in Safari on the iPhone, when you begin scrolling down, the navigation bar is also scrolled out of view. When you scroll back up, the navigation scrolls back into view. I'm looking to implement this same behavior using a UIWebView underneath the UINavigationBar, but I'm guessing it should be possible with any UIScrollView descendant. How can this behavior be implemented?
