  • Setting focus on top of the page on click of asp.net link button

    - by user74042
    I've a asp.net datagrid which shows customer order details. Pagination at the bottom of the grid is done using datalist and asp.net Linkbutton controls. Here is the code: <asp:DataList ID="DataList2" runat="server" CellPadding="1" CellSpacing="1" OnItemCommand="DataList2_ItemCommand" OnItemDataBound="DataList2_ItemDataBound" RepeatDirection="Horizontal"> <ItemTemplate> <asp:LinkButton ID="lnkbtnPaging" runat="server" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("PageIndex") %>' CommandName="lnkbtnPaging" Text='<%# Eval("PageText") %>'></asp:LinkButton> <asp:Label runat="server" ID="lblPageSeparator" Text=" | " name=></asp:Label> </ItemTemplate> </asp:DataList> When the user clicks on any page number(ie.Link button), I need to set focus on top of the page. How do i do this? Thanks!

  • Alternative for table mark-up in ASP.NET not working properly

    - by yetanothercoder
    Using Visual WebDeveloper 2010 Express and ASP.NET 4.0 Don't know whether its relevant but the whole thing is in a ContentPlaceHolder and inside an UpdatePanel. To avoid using the old table tr td model, I have created a simple form like this <div class="admin-form"> <asp:Label ID="UserNameLabel" runat="server" CssClass="form-label" Text="User Name" /> <asp:TextBox ID="UserNameText" runat="server" Width="200px"/> <br /> <asp:Label ID="PasswordLabel" runat="server" CssClass="form-label" Text="Password" /> <asp:TextBox ID="PasswordText" runat="server" TextMode="Password" Width="200px"/> <br /> <asp:Label ID="ConfirmPasswordLabel" runat="server" CssClass="form-label" Text="Confirm Password" /> <asp:TextBox ID="ConfirmPasswordText" runat="server" TextMode="Password" Width="200px"/> <br /> <asp:Label ID="EmailLabel" runat="server" CssClass="form-label" Text="Email" /> <asp:TextBox ID="EmailText" runat="server" Width="200px"/> <br /> <br /> <br /> <span class="form-label"></span> <asp:Button ID="CreateUserButton" runat="server" CssClass="button blue" Text="Create New User"/> </div> And the CSS .form-label { width: 300px !important; } This renders incorrectly as I would like to have all textboxes vertically lined after taking 300px. What is wrong? P.S: I cannot use HTML Controls like label as I have resx for globalization

  • MVC2 Json request not actually hitting the controller

    - by SlackerCoder
I have a JSON request, but it seems that it is not hitting the controller. Here's the jQuery code: $("#ddlAdminLogsSelectLog").change(function() { globalLogSelection = $("#ddlAdminLogsSelectLog").val(); alert(globalLogSelection); $.getJSON("/Administrative/AdminLogsChangeLogSelection", { NewSelection: globalLogSelection }, function(data) { if (data.Message == "Success") { globalCurrentPage = 1; } else if (data.Message == "Error") { //Do Something } }); }); The alert is there to show me if it actually fired the change event, which it does. Heres the method in the controller: public ActionResult AdminLogsChangeLogSelection(String NewSelection) { String sMessage = String.Empty; StringBuilder sbDataReturn = new StringBuilder(); try { if (NewSelection.Equals("Application Log")) { int i = 0; } else if (NewSelection.Equals("Email Log")) { int l = 0; } } catch (Exception e) { //Do Something sMessage = "Error"; } return Json(new { Message = sMessage, DataReturn = sbDataReturn.ToString() }, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet); } I have a bunch of Json requests in my application, and it seems to only happen in this area. This is a separate area (I have 6 "areas" in the app, 5 of which work fine with JSON requests). This controller is named "AdministrativeController", if that matters. Does anything jump out anyone as being incorrect or why the request would not pass to the server side?

  • How? Encrypt and Decrypt user membership passwords in ASP.NET

    - by smdrager
We are creating a new site using ASP.NET membership provider for user registration and log in. Our old system encrypted user passwords so that we could recover them if we needed to. I am having a great deal of trouble figuring out if it is possible to use ASP.NET membership functions to simply encrypt the password when the user registers and then unencrypt it so I can see it. Documentation for this is neigh non-existant. I know how to configure Web.config to have it store passwords as encrypted ala passwordFormat="Hashed" in the provider and assigning a validationKey in the machineKey, however it seems like the password still gets hashed (though perhaps it is just well encrypted). Either way I cannot decifer how the password can be recovered (by us) if neccessary. Thanks!

  • C# (ASP.Net) Linking selection values to constants in Codebehind

    - by jasonvogel
ASPX Code <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rbServer" runat="server" > <asp:ListItem Value=<%=ServerDeveloper%>> Developer </asp:ListItemv <asp:ListItem Value="dev.ahsvendor.com"> dev.test.com</asp:ListItem> <asp:ListItem Value="staging.ahsvendor.com"> staging.test.com</asp:ListItem> </asp:RadioButtonList> ASPX.CS - Codebehind const string ServerDeveloper = "developer"; ASPX Error: Code blocks are not supported in this context. Question: So what is the correct way to tie an dropdown/radio buttion/... ASPX value to a constant that is shared with the CodeBehind code? I know that I could do rbServer.Add.Item("developer") [from the CodeBehind], but is there a way to achieve it from the Presentation side of things?

  • I want to prevent ASP.NET GridView from reacting to the enter button

    - by StephaneT
I have an ASP.NET page with a gridview control on it with a CommandButton column with delete and select commands active. Pressing the enter key causes the first command button in the gridview to fire, which deletes a row. I don't want this to happen. Can I change the gridview control in a way that it does not react anymore to pressing the enter key? There is a textbox and button on the screen as well. They don't need to be responsive to hitting enter, but you must be able to fill in the textbox. Currently we popup a confirmation dialog to prevent accidental deletes, but we need something better than this. This is the markup for the gridview, as you can see it's inside an asp.net updatepanel (i forgot to mention that, sorry): (I left out most columns and the formatting) <asp:UpdatePanel ID="upContent" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnFilter" /> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnEdit" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <div id="CodeGrid" class="Grid"> <asp:GridView ID="dgCode" runat="server"> <Columns> <asp:CommandField SelectImageUrl="~/Images/Select.GIF" ShowSelectButton="True" ButtonType="Image" CancelText="" EditText="" InsertText="" NewText="" UpdateText="" DeleteImageUrl="~/Images/Delete.GIF" ShowDeleteButton="True" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="Id" HeaderText="ID" Visible="False" /> </Columns> </asp:GridView> </div> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel>

    Hi everyone, I am using the new ASP control "Chart", but I have some problems with it: I can't see anything when I execute the aspx. The data is binded to a ObjectDataSource, like this: <asp:Chart ID="RcrBufferChart" runat="server" Visible="true" DataSourceID="RcrBufferSizeODS" BackColor="WhiteSmoke" BackGradientStyle="TopBottom" BackSecondaryColor="White" Palette="BrightPastel" BorderDashStyle="Solid" BorderColor="26, 59, 105" Height="583px" Width="1159px" > <borderskin skinstyle="Emboss"></borderskin> <series> <asp:series Name="Series1" ChartType="Spline" ShadowColor="Black" BorderColor="180, 26, 59, 105" Color="224, 64, 10" IsValueShownAsLabel="True" XValueMember="CreationDate" XValueType="DateTime" YValueMembers="Size" YValueType="Double"></asp:series> </series> <chartareas> <asp:ChartArea Name="ChartArea1"> <AxisY Title="Tamaño RCR sin enviar"> </AxisY> <AxisX Title="Fecha"> </AxisX> </asp:ChartArea> </chartareas> </asp:Chart> <asp:ObjectDataSource ID="RcrBufferSizeODS" runat="server" SelectMethod="GetByAppliance" TypeName="Esabe.Grazalema.Business.RcrBufferSizes"> <SelectParameters> <asp:QueryStringParameter Name="serialNumber" QueryStringField="SerialNumber" Type="String" /> </SelectParameters> </asp:ObjectDataSource> but the result I get is the following: Does anyone know why it isn't showing anything? Thanks a lot in advance!!

  • ASP.NET MVC2 : DateTime modelbinding via HTTP GET

    - by mathieu
I'm getting some trouble binding a date from QueryString : I have the following model public class QueryParms { public DateTime Date { get; set; } } And the following controller action : public ActionResult Search( QueryParms query ); I have a form, with a field where I can type my date. If the form is FormMethod.Post, everything is fine, my date is correctly bound to my model. If the form is FormMethod.Get, it is not working anymore. The date is left to the default value (01/01/0001) I think it is a culture issue : When i look into the value provider, the FormValueProvider has a culture property set for my date : {fr-FR}. The QueryStringValueProvider doesn't have the culture property set. Is there a way to set this property ?

  • Handling Model Inheritance in ASP.NET MVC2

    - by enth
I've gotten myself stuck on how to handle inheritance in my model when it comes to my controllers/views. Basic Model: public class Procedure : Entity { public Procedure() { } public int Id { get; set; } public DateTime ProcedureDate { get; set; } public ProcedureType Type { get; set; } } public ProcedureA : Procedure { public double VariableA { get; set; } public int VariableB { get; set; } public int Total { get; set; } } public ProcedureB : Procedure { public int Score { get; set; } } etc... many of different procedures eventually. So, I do things like list all the procedures: public class ProcedureController : Controller { public virtual ActionResult List() { IEnumerable<Procedure> procedures = _repository.GetAll(); return View(procedures); } } but now I'm kinda stuck. Basically, from the list page, I need to link to pages where the specific subclass details can be viewed/edited and I'm not sure what the best strategy is. I thought I could add an action on the ProcedureController that would conjure up the right subclass by dynamically figuring out what repository to use and loading the subclass to pass to the view. I had to store the class in the ProcedureType object. I had to create/implement a non-generic IRepository since I can't dynamically cast to a generic one. public virtual ActionResult Details(int procedureID) { Procedure procedure = _repository.GetById(procedureID, false); string className = procedure.Type.Class; Type type = Type.GetType(className, true); Type repositoryType = typeof (IRepository<>).MakeGenericType(type); var repository = (IRepository)DependencyRegistrar.Resolve(repositoryType); Entity procedure = repository.GetById(procedureID, false); return View(procedure); } I haven't even started sorting out how the view is going to determine which partial to load to display the subclass details. I'm wondering if this is a good approach? This makes determining the URL easy. It makes reusing the Procedure display code easy. Another approach is specific controllers for each subclass. It simplifies the controller code, but also means many simple controllers for the many procedure subclasses. Can work out the shared Procedure details with a partial view. How to get to construct the URL to get to the controller/action in the first place? Time to not think about it. Hopefully someone can show me the light. Thanks in advance.

  • Question on design of current pagination implementations

    - by Freshblood
I have checked pagination implementations on asp.net mvc specifically and i really feel that there is something less efficient in implementations. First of all all implementations use pagination values like below. public ActionResult MostPopulars(int pageIndex, int pageSize) { } The thing that i feel wrong is pageIndex and pageSize totally should be member of Pagination class otherwise this way looks so much functional way. Also it simplify unnecesary paramater pass in tiers of application. Second thing is that they use below interface. public interface IPagedList<T> : IList<T> { int PageCount { get; } int TotalItemCount { get; } int PageIndex { get; } int PageNumber { get; } int PageSize { get; } bool HasPreviousPage { get; } bool HasNextPage { get; } bool IsFirstPage { get; } bool IsLastPage { get; } } If i want to routing my pagination to different action so i have to create new view model for encapsulate action name in it or even controller name. Another solution can be that sending this interfaced model to view then specify action and controller hard coded in pager method as parameter but i am losing totally re-usability of my view because it is strictly depends on just one action. Another thing is that they use below code in view Html.Pager(Model.PageSize, Model.PageNumber, Model.TotalItemCount) If the model is IPagedList why they don't provide an overload method like @Html.Pager(Model) or even better one is @Html.Pager(). You know that we know model type in this way. Before i was doing mistake because i was using Model.PageIndex instead of Model.PageNumber. Another big issue is they strongly rely on IQueryable interface. How they know that i use IQueryable in my data layer ? I would expected that they work simply with collections that is keep pagination implementation persistence ignorant. What is wrong about my improvement ideas over their pagination implementations ? What is their reason to not implement their paginations in this way ?

  • How should I debug a vb.net website in iis6 that is throwing 'Deadlock detected' errors and becomes

    - by jskunkle
A few times a day, our vb.net (IIS 6.0) website is randomly throwing the following error and becomes completely unavailable for 5-15 minutes at a time while the application is recycled: ISAPI 'c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi.dll' reported itself as unhealthy for the following reason: 'Deadlock detected'. The website ran for months on the exact same server in beta without problem - but the problem started over the weekend when we made the site live. The live site is under some load but less than many of our other production websites. How should I attack this problem? I've looked into orphaning the worker process and creating a dump file - but I'm not sure how to analyze that. Any advice or information is appreciated. Thanks, Shane

  • How to fix error "To run this application, you first must install one of the following version of the .Net Framework: v2.0.50727"?

    - by Gravitas
How do I fix the error that started popping up in a lot of applications: To run this application, you first must install one of the following version of the .Net Framework: v2.0.50727. Would you like to download an install version v2.0.50727 of the .NET framework now? Unfortunately, this is not as simple as just installing the .NET 2.0 runtime, because its already installed. If I run the recommended installers for .NET 2.0 or .NET 3.5 SP1, it exits silently. Events leading to problem: Installed SQL Server 2008 R2, which installs a toy version of Visual Studio 2008 that only deals with SQL specific projects. Uninstalled Visual Studio 2008.

  • Creating Array of settings names and values using ADO.NET Entities

    - by jordan.baucke
I'm using an ADO.NET Entities (.edmx) data-model along with MVC2 to build an application. I have a DB table where I want to store settings for method that run elsewhere. MVC2 allows me to create a view, editor, etc. to update this table which is great, but now when I want to do simple assignments based on column titles I'm a bit confused. For example, I would like to easily build an array that I could offset into the record's value based on it's "Title" Column: var entities = new ManagerEntities(); Setting[] settings = entities.settings.ToArray(); This returns something like: Settings[0].[SettingTitle][SettingValue] However, I would like to more easily index into the value than having to loop through all the returned settings, when they're already index. string URL_ID_NEED = [NeededUrl][http://www.url.com] Am I missing something relatively simple? Thanks! ========================= *Update* ========================= Ok, I think I've got a solution, but I'm wondering why this would be so complicated, and if I'm just not thinking of the right context for ADO.NET objects, here's what I did: public string GetSetting(string SettingName) { var entities = new LabelManagerEntities(); IEnumerable<KeyValuePair<string, object>> entityKeyValues = new KeyValuePair<string, object>[] { new KeyValuePair<string, object>("SettingTitle", SettingName) }; EntityKey key = new EntityKey("LabelManagerEntities.Settings", entityKeyValues); // Get the object from the context or the persisted store by its key. Setting settingvalue = (Setting)entities.GetObjectByKey(key); return settingvalue.SettingValue.ToString(); } This method handles the job of querying the Entities by "Key" to get back the correct value as a returned string (which I can than strip out the " ", or or cast to an integer, etc. etc.,) Am I just duplicating functionality that already exists in ADO.NET's design patterns (I'm pretty new to it) -- or is this a reasonable solution?

  • LLBLGen Pro v3.0 with Entity Framework v4.0 (12m video)

    - by FransBouma
Today I recorded a video in which I illustrate some of the database-first functionality available in LLBLGen Pro v3.0. LLBLGen Pro v3.0 also supports model-first functionality, which I hope to illustrate in an upcoming video. LLBLGen Pro v3.0 is currently in beta and is scheduled to RTM some time in May 2010. It supports the following frameworks out of the box, with more scheduled to follow in the coming year: LLBLGen Pro RTL (our own o/r mapper framework), Linq to Sql, NHibernate and Entity Framework (v1 and v4). The video I linked to below illustrates the creation of an entity model for Entity Framework v4, by reverse engineering the SQL Server 2008 example database 'AdventureWorks'. The following topics (among others) are included in the video: Abbreviation support (example: convert 'Qty' into 'Quantity' during name construction) Flexible, framework specific settings Attribute definitions for various elements (so no requirement for buddy-classes or messing with generated code or templates) Retrieval of relational model data from a database Reverse engineering of tables into entities, automatically placed in groups Auto-creation of inheritance hierarchies Refactoring of entity fields into Value Type Definitions (DDD) Mapping a Typed view onto a stored procedure resultset Creation of a Typed list (definition of a query with a projection) on a set of related entities Validation and correction of found inconsistencies and errors Generating code using one of the pre-defined presets Illustration of the code in vs.net 2010 It also gives a good overview of what it takes with LLBLGen Pro v3.0 to start from a new project, point it to a database, get an entity model, perform tweaks and validation and generate code which is ready to run. I am no video recording expert so there's no audio and some mouse movements might be a little too quickly. If that's the case, please pause the video. It's rather big (52MB). Click here to open the HTML page with the video (Flash). Opens in a new window. LLBLGen Pro v3.0 is currently in beta (available for v2.x customers) and scheduled to be released somewhere in May 2010.
