• googlemap zoom in iphone application

  Hi all, i have a problem in iphone application that i have integrated google map and i am calculating center runtime so that the map shows both points on the iphone screen, the alogrithm applied (thanks to stackover flow) is working fine in case of 2 locations very far from each other. But it is not working for near locations and the zoom level goes too much that it is not able to show any images of those two near locations, so i want to put a check that if the location are very near to each other OR the google is not able to show the maps of the locations then it choose the default zoom level so that it shows the map on the screen instead of blank / black screen. • MacBook for django development?

  Hi, I'm about to buy a new laptop (Asus G62) to replace my old ubuntu desktop. I will use it mostly for django development (and some legacy win32 stuff in a virtualbox). However, since I will need to do some iPhone development in the near future, I'm starting to think that it might be a wiser to buy a MacBook Pro, instead of the Asus and later a cheap (so to speak...) MacBook. How well suited is a MacBook Pro for Django development? I currently use WingIDE on Linux and love it, how does the Mac version compare to the linux one? Is the Ubuntu - Mac OS transition complicated? Will I be able to leverage my Linux knowledge? OTOH, I'm your average nerd, so I'm not sure if I'm cool enough for a Mac. Besides, having a double chin, a black turtle neck is completely out of question. Thanks in advance!

• Condensing multiple else if statements, referencing them from a table?

  Hi I'm about to type some 500 else if statements into my code (PHP) which have the exact same coding each: if (color=White); rgb = 255-255-255; print rgb; else if (color=Black); rgb = 0-0-0; print rgb; else if (color=Red); rgb = 255-0-0; print rgb; else if (color=Blue); rgb = 0-0-255; print rgb; [the list keeps going] I also (luckily) have a table that displays the color in the first column and rgb value in the next column for 500 of them... how do I use this to save time typing all those else if statements? Some how I have to reference the table file (made in excel, I'm guessing I'll have to save it as .csv?)

• HTML element to use as a Javascript message display

  I have a message display field on my website that I'd like to change the value of via JS. I've been using just a textfield, disabling it, and modifying the value via a JS function (after using a little CSS to make it not look like a text field): <input type="text" id="message" style="background: white; color: black" size="50" disabled> There has to be a better way (for instance, formatting is tricky whenever the message runs over the specified size), but I can't think of it off the top of my head. Can anyone point me in a better direction? Thanks! FYI: I am doing a timer function which I'd like to look something like "HH:MM:SS | 'my message here'"

• What programming/techy name should I give my new pup? [closed]

  I am getting a Border Collie puppy tomorrow. If I can get my wife to agree to do so I want to give it a techy/programming type of name. The vast majority of my development is in Microsoft .NET / C# on mobile devices (WinMo and tablets) as well as Silverlight and ASP.NET. I would like the name to be something in that area although I am open other technologies, etc. I have not seen him yet. I assume he is typical Border Collie colored - black/white. One name that crossed my mind is Xaml (pronounced Zammel). What other name ideas do you have?

• Rotation of ViewController in TabbarController

  I have a custom UIViewController in a UITabbarController and want to respond to rotation events. When a rotation occurs, the tabbarcontroller and the viewcontroller get rotated. However, the view in the viewcontroller doesn't get redrawn properly: the layout doesn't autoresize and it is black on parts of the screen. The strange thing is that it works when I go to another tab and the back again to my original viewcontroller. What could possibly be wrong? I checked that didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation:fromInterfaceOrientation is being called. However, the view.frame.size values are still the old ones from before the rotation. That's probably not correct.

• CSS Issue in Firefox/IE

  I'm working on a site's CSS and am running across an issue with the body margin section. If you look at this in Firefox and then IE, you can see the line isn't lined up right in Firefox, but it is in IE. (In the black header section). • QT: QPainter + GDI in the same widget?

  I'm trying to use the method described here to use a QPainter and GDI calls on the same widget. Unfortunately this tutorial seem to have been written on an earlier version of QT and now it does not work. I set the WA_PaintOnScreen flag and reimplement paintEngine() to return NULL. Then on the paintEvent() I create a QPainter, use it and then use some GDI calls to paint a bitmap. The GDI calls work fine but the QPainter does nothing. I get the following error on the console: QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 1 Is this simply not supported anymore? how can I do it? I've also tried creating an additional widget on top of the GDI-painting widget but that didn't go well as well since the top widget appears black and blocks the GDI widget.

  Hi SO community! I am drawing graphs into a WinForms Picturebox. Now I am searching for a possibility to 'duplicate' a line (an array of points), so that the two resulting lines are positioned a fixed distance away from the original one. Like in this picture, I have the red line and want to get the black ones: I thought about just moving the line a few pixels up/right/up-right, but that leads to strange overlapping lines. Is there any other approach that does what I want? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

• IE I-Frame 1px border to the right

  Please look at http://www.mymix947.com In the header i have a 1px border to the right of the banner. You will see a black line dividing the banner and listen live button. This is an i-frame and I can't seem to eliminate the line. This seems to only happen with Windows 7 - IE Browser 8.0.7 When my browser is full screen - i dont see it, but if i shrink the browser slightly - the line is there. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

  I am creating a rounded rectangle GraphicsPath (see red outline image below), and then using this as a clip region both when drawing graphics, and as the Region of a Form. Unfortunately, although the path looks good, it doesn't work well as a region (see solid black image below) Is there a way that I can generate a clipping region from the path that includes all the 'outline' pixels of the path? Do I need to generate a bitmap and then process this to create a region? • Can't draw to a pictureBox in a loop

  I have a List<Point> where Point contains X and Y. • Styling a list as tabs with a background overflowing into content

  I couldn't think of any better way to name this question, but I'll explain. I have a mediawiki website with a background pattern (like parchment) behind the articles. At the top of each article I want to have tabs like wikipedia does (with page | talk | edit etc links). The problem is, the tabs should seamlessly fit with the article's background and I can't figure out if this is actually possible. The way I was trying to do it was positioning the list inside the actual content div and give the <li items a transparent background, but as far as I can see there's no way to color the rest of the <ul's background black without affecting the <li's in there. • PreferenceActivity not showing twice on android

  Hello there, i've a PreferenceActivity which works perfectly the first time i launch it. But if i close it ( with the back button ) and then i re open it ( through a menu click in the main activity ) then i get a black screen. There is no preferences at all.. I can't figure it out why it should not working. It seems all the code is being called normally as the working one but no preferences are showing on the screen. Did someone had the same behaviour ?

  I tried to write reasonably short title but i failed i guess.. Hi everybody here's what i'm trying to do: I want to implement a web text editor able to recognize when the user drag a image file over it's editing surface and it automa(gically) starts the upload and insert the image near the cursor position. In other words i don't want the user to do the usual "insert-image-browse-ok". Atm i am not very good at javascript ... i know JQuery but i have not a clear idea about how to implement this... i don't know if there's an event handler able to help me in this situation... if not then there should be i think or web apps would miss some kind of interactivity. I've heard miracles about HTML5 could it help me? I've seen such things in Google Wave but that surface doesn't seem to be a form field... google lab's black magic i guess.... Thank you in advance.

  Hello. I'm fixing some bugs in the application for remote control (remote desktop-like) for Windows. And there is a feature that you can blank screen on remote machine - all the programms keep running unaffected, but the person who looks into the display on remote PC sees nothing but black screen. It is implemented by sending IoCtl request IOCTL_VIDEO_SET_OUTPUT_DEVICE_POWER_STATE, which is undocumented. And this request does not work on Vista and above. Are there another ways to do what I want? In fact, SendMessage(-1,WM_SOMMAND,SC_MONITORPOWER,2) does the trick, but screen turns back on if someone toches keyboard/mouse.

• How to detect default printer properties from browser?

  Regardless of if this is a good idea or not, is it possible to detect printer attributes from the browser? The idea is that you want to print out a brochure that's selling something. Depending on different things such as if the printer is black&white/colour, high/low resolution, laser/inkjet, printing to a file, etc, you want to print out the page differently. For example you might choose different text colours or fonts, different image sizes, etc. My initial thoughts are: ActiveX, Flash, Java, Silverlight, browser plugins. Kudos if it's possible in javascript. I'm interested in all ways to do this, cross browser or not. Please no reasons about why this shouldn't be done ^_^

  I'm curious whether many of us who do design or take design decisions have ever heard of this problem. I'm aware there are dangerous color combinations, like green + red. This is probably one of the most popular cases of color blindness. If you have green text on a red background and vice versa some people won't see anything. I've also seen in practice that green text on a blue background was not seen by one guy. What other color compositions should be avoided, and how often these cases are to be expected? Let us make some ranging by encounter probability who has the numbers. Addition: I've just remembered one very bad example that causes problems to just about everyone - blue text on a black background. It's unreadable for all intents and purposes. Never could understand what could possibly compel a web master to use this color combination...
