  i need help with batch file for WINRAR pleasee hi i am trying to use winrar to convert all my different folders individually from one location to another. example: c:\projects\test c:\projects\country c:\projects\db to c:\backup\test.rar c:\backup\country.rar c:\backup\db.rar I am trying the following cmd, which works but what it does is that it gets all the folders in the projects folder into the backup for /f "delims==" %%D in ('DIR C:\projects /A /B /S') do ( "C:\Program Files\WinRAR\WinRAR.EXE" m -r "c:\backup\projects.rar" "%%D" ) but this is what it does c:\backup\project.rar (it does contain all the files if i extract) i want them separetely can you please help?

• ListViewGroup not sorting correctly

  I'm using a ListView control in a C# WinForms application. Items in the list are added to a ListViewGroup (in this case, grouping by country). The one thing that isn't working as expected is that the column sorting appears to be strange. I've hooked into the ListViewItemSorter property of the ListView and everything sorts perfectly except when the country column is sorted in descending order (that is, Z-A). Regardless of how the list sort occurs the groups show in ascending order. Can anyone give me a nudge in the right direction? EDIT: FWIW, .NET 3.5 on Vista.

• EntityFramework WCF issue

  Right now i'm doing some tests involving entityFramework and WCF. As I understand, the EntityObjects generated are DataContracts and so, they can be serialized to the client. In my example I have a "Country" entity wich has 1 "Currency" as a property, when I get a Country and try to send it to the client, it throws an exception saying the data cant be written. But, the thing is, if I Get a Currency (which has a collection of Countries) and dont load its countries, it does work. The client gets all the entities. So, as a summary: - I have an entity with another entity as a property and cant be serialized. - I have another entity with an empty list of properties and it is successfully serialized. Any ideas on how to make it work?

  In my console application have an abstract Factory class "Listener" which contains code for listening and accepting connections, and spawning client classes. This class is inherited by two more classes (WorldListener, and MasterListener) that contain more protocol specific overrides and functions. I also have a helper class (ConsoleWrapper) which encapsulates and extends System.Console, containing methods for writing to console info on what is happening to instances of the WorldListener and MasterListener. I need a way to determine in the abstract ListenerClass which Inheriting class is calling its methods. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! • I can learn either C or Java, which one should I choose first? Should I take them concurrently?

  I realize this is a subject of hot debate, but I'm interested in opinions that relate to my specific situation. I want to learn the basics and fundamentals of programming, so I'm already taking a college course in general programming concepts. It isn't covering a specific language, but it's giving me a solid foundation that I can build upon when I move on to a class that teaches a specific language. My two options for a specific language are Java and C because those are the two languages taught at the college I want to take classes from. What I want to do is learn a complex language so that I can apply that knowledge to languages that I use, or will eventually use, in my current job building web pages: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, XML, ActionScript. I'm not necessariy interested in becoming a Java developer or a C developer in the immediate future, but I do have aspirations of developing web applications and iPod/iPhone applications. So, basically, I'm looking for answers to these questions and the reasoning behind them: Do I take the introductory course in Java first, and then take the intro course in C, or Do I take C first and then take Java? Is there any reason not to take them concurrently? Should I skip C altogether as Java covers everything I need to know? EDIT: Thanks everyone for your thoughtful and insightful responses.

  I'm using Joomla in combination with Nginx, and I'm currently trying to achieve some URL rewriting for a website that has several langages supported (italian, french, chinese, and deutch) The urls have the country code after the domain name, like so : http://www.example.com/fr/test/test.html or http://www.example.com/de/test/test.html I'm looking to rewrite the urls so the country code is part of the subdomain : so http://www.example.com/fr/test/test.html becomes http://fr.example.com/test/test.html Is there a way to achieve this with Nginx or should I look into a third party extension for Joomla (not my favorite choice).   Hi, I have a rather large class stored in the datastore, for example a User class with lots of fields (I'm using java, omitting all decorations below example for clarity): @PersistenceCapable class User { private String username; private String city; private String state; private String country; private String favColor; } For some user queries, I only need the favColor property, but right now I'm doing this: SELECT FROM " + User.class.getName() + " WHERE username == 'bob' which should deserialize all of the entity properties. Is it possible to do something instead like: SELECT username, favColor FROM " + User.class.getName() + " WHERE username == 'bob' and then in this case, all of the returned User instances will only spend time deserializing the username and favColor properties, and not the city/state/country properties? If so, then I suppose all the other properties will be null (in the case of objects) or 0 for int/long/float? Thank you

  I'm displaying data from my db in json format using rabl to parse it for android... My json looks like so: [ { "bank":{ "central_office_address":"ololo", "license":"12312312", "location_id":3, "name":"Pbank", "tax_number":"12312312", "year_of_foundation":1987 } }, { "bank":{ "central_office_address":"sdfsdf sdf", "license":"321312", "location_id":3, "name":"Bbank", "tax_number":"321321", "year_of_foundation":1999 } } ] I need my json in a format like: { "contacts": [ { "id": "c200", "name": "Ravi Tamada", "email": "[email protected]", "address": "xx-xx-xxxx,x - street, x - country", "gender" : "male", "phone": { "mobile": "+91 0000000000", "home": "00 000000", "office": "00 000000" } }, { "id": "c201", "name": "Johnny Depp", "email": "[email protected]", "address": "xx-xx-xxxx,x - street, x - country", "gender" : "male", "phone": { "mobile": "+91 0000000000", "home": "00 000000", "office": "00 000000" } } ] } Such data is normally parsed in java.... My rabl view: object @banks attributes :central_office_address, :license, :location_id, :name, :tax_number, :year_of_foundation How do I change its output to match the second example?

• Selecting a sequence NEXTVAL for multiple rows

  I am building a SQL Server job to pull data from SQL Server into an Oracle database through a linked server. The table I need to populate has a sequence for the name ID, which is my primary key. I'm having trouble figuring out a way to do this simply, without some lengthy code. Here's what I have so far for the SELECT portion (some actual names obfuscated): SELECT (SELECT NEXTVAL FROM OPENQUERY(MYSERVER, 'SELECT ORCL.NAME_SEQNO.NEXTVAL FROM DUAL')), psn.BirthDate, psn.FirstName, psn.MiddleName, psn.LastName, c.REGION_CODE FROM Person psn LEFT JOIN MYSERVER..ORCL.COUNTRY c ON c.COUNTRY_CODE = psn.Country MYSERVER is the linked Oracle server, ORCL is obviously the schema. Person is a local table on the SQL Server database where the query is being executed. When I run this query, I get the same exact value for all records for the NEXTVAL. What I need is for it to generate a new value for each returned record. • How to ask questions to an obstructionist?

  This is not related to my other recently posted question about "working with a star developer". In a similar vein, how do you work with someone who will only answer the specific question that you ask. I worked with someone who, when you asked a question on a specific aspect of the system, would give you the answer just related to the specific bit you'd asked about. For example, when processing radar messages I'd ask about an aspect of message number RJ546 and he would answer just about that specific part of RJ546. He wouldn't mention anything about the other freaky parts of the message, or mention any related aspects of the other messages. Then you'd go off and work on the processing and all of a sudden all this other freakiness would pop up. What's a good technique when working with this type of person? BTW I later found out that the person who I'd come in to replace had quit because he got sick and tired of having these surprises pop up due to the lack of information provided by this person. Edit: I forgot to add that the person was deliberately obstructionist and believed that job security came from hoarded knowledge not being disseminated.
