  • converting a timestring to a duration

    Hi, At the moment I am trying to read in a timestring formatted and create a duration from that. I am currently trying to use the boost date_time time_duration class to read and store the value. boost date_time provides a method time_duration duration_from_string(std::string) that allows a time_duration to be created from a time string and it accepts strings formatted appropriately ("[-]h[h][:mm][:ss][.fff]".). Now this method works fine if you use a correctly formatted time string. However if you submit something invalid like "ham_sandwich" or "100" then you will still be returned a time_duration that is not valid. Specifically if you try to pass it to a standard output stream then an assertion will occur. My question is: Does anyone know how to test the validity of the boost time_duration? and failing that can you suggest another method of reading a timestring and getting a duration from it? Note: I have tried the obvious testing methods that time_duration provides; is_not_a_date_time(), is_special() etc and they don't pick up that there is an issue. Using boost 1.38.0

    I have the following code however, I want it to write as a UTF-8 file to handle foreign characters. Is there a way of doing this, is there some need to have a parameter?     This is likely a novice question about LINQ, but assuming I have a set of Items with a DateTime property, one date having at most one item, how would I go about selecting the N most recent items from a date of reference, that is, the N items which have a date smaller that the requested date, and the largest date? My naive thought would be to first select items with a date smaller than the reference date, sort by date, and select the N first items from that subset. var recentItems = from item in dataContext.Items where item.Date<=date orderby item.Date descending select item; var mostRecentItems = recentItems.Take(5).ToList(); Is this the "right" way to do it, or are there obviously better ways to achieve my goal?

I'm trying to create a vbscript that basically checks two Folders for their files and compare the DateLastModified attribute of each and then copies the source files to the destination folder if the DateLastModified of the source file is newer than the existing one.     I am looking for a small linux tool that would be able to extract text from odt file. It just needs to be human-readable and it can have problems with complicated objects etc. It's almost a duplicate of this question but I need it to be small and have no dependencies on OpenOffice or X server I remember having a 1MB MS-DOS program that could render .doc files quite readibly (with some weird markup getting through from time to time), so i expect it to be possible in the linux world too ;)

But as soon as the link is something like: http://www.shazam.com/music/web/track?id=41970148" it doesn't.   • best way to output a full precision double into a text file

    Hi, I need to use an existing text file to store some very precise values. When read back in, the numbers essentially need to be exactly equivalent to the ones that were originally written. Now, a normal person would use a binary file... for a number of reasons, that's not possible in this case. So... do any of you have a good way of encoding a double as a string of characters (aside from increasing the precision). My first thought was to cast the double to a char[] and write out the chars. I don't think that's going to work because some of the characters are not visible, produce sounds, and even terminate strings ('\0'... I'm talkin to you!) Thoughts?

"This application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect." How can I solve this?

    Hi, I need a method for adding "business days" in PHP. For example, Friday 12/5 + 3 business days = Wednesday 12/10. At a minimum I need the code to understand weekends, but ideally it should account for US federal holidays as well. I'm sure I could come up with a solution by brute force if necessary, but I'm hoping there's a more elegant approach out there. Anyone? Thanks.

  • Routing Error in Chapter 7.1.2 of the Ruby on Rails Tutorial

    I've been working through the tutorial for the past few days, and finally hit a snag in chapter 7. It is in this step where the line in routes.rb: get "users/new" is replaced with resource :users After I do this, I get a routing error when visiting http://localhost:3000/users/1 - No route matches [GET] "/users/1" instead of the other "Unknown Action" error shown here.
