  • Android number input with plus and minus sign.

    - by alaak
Hi, I am developing in android and I would like an input field for numbers, where the user can select the correct number using the plus sign at the top and the minus sign at the bottom of the input field. I know this works for date picker. Is there some property or something similar to make this available for any integer number input field? Thanks

  • Can't get ellipsis to work on Android

    - by Mark
Hi, I have a TextView. I want it to ellipsize if longer than its available width. This does not work unless the input string has no spaces... can anyone provide an example of this working? I've tried different combinations of: singleLine="true" maxLines="1" scrollHorizontally="false" none of these have any effect. Again, if I supply a string that has no spaces in it, then the ellipsis appears correctly. What am I missing? I've tried this on 1.5, 1.6, 2.0, all same problem. Thanks

  • How can I tell Phusion Passenger which python to use?

    - by Mike
I'm using Phusion Passenger with a ruby app and I'd also like to set it up to work with an django appengine app I'm working on. Googling for "passenger_wsgi.py" I was able to get the following very simple non-django app working on passenger: passenger_wsgi.py: def application(environ, start_response): response_headers = [('Content-type','text/plain')] start_response('200 OK', response_headers) return ['Hello World!\n'] However, if I add the line import django.core.handlers.wsgi into the mix, I get 'An error occurred importing your passenger_wsgi.py'. By printing out the sys.path I've discovered that at least part of the reason is because Passenger is using the wrong python installation on my machine. How can I configure Passenger (on apache) to use /opt/local/bin/python2.5 instead of the system default python?

  • Associate an Activity with an item in XML ListViews in Android

    - by John
I have a ListView that is populated using an XML file. However, I want each item, when clicked, to start a new Activity related to that item. I understand how to use OnItemClick to start a Toast that shows the selected item's text. However, since the ListView is populated from an XML there is not a specific Id for each item in the list. So, how would I associate an Activity with each item in the ListView when the items do not have Ids?

  • Progress dialog getting dismissed before the thread gets finished - Android

    - by user264953
Hi experts, I use the code provided by Fedor in the following link, in order to get the latitude and longitude from my simple demo app. I am trying to fetch the latitude and longitude using the MyLocation class provided by him in that link. What is the simplest and most robust way to get the user's current location in Android? I try to fetch the latitude and longitude on a button click. On the button click, I start an async task and delegate the location fetching work to the do in background method of my asynctask. pre execute - progressdialog initiated. post execute - progress dialog dismissed. This is how, the progress dialog in my code should work and here is the issue which I have. THe progress dialog gets initiated correctly, but even before the latitude and longitude gets printed in the doinbackground method, the progress dialog gets dismissed. I do not understand why this happens. Here is my front end activity public class LocationServices extends Activity { MyLocation myLocation = new MyLocation(); LocationResult locationResult; TextView tv1, tv2; Location location; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); tv1 = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tv1); tv2 = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.tv2); Button btn = (Button) findViewById(R.id.Button01); btn.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View v) { new LocationAsyncTasking().execute(); } }); } public class LocationAsyncTasking extends AsyncTask<String, Void, Void> { ProgressDialog dialog; int totalAvail; protected void onPreExecute() { // this.dialog.setMessage("Inserting data..."); dialog = new ProgressDialog(LocationServices.this); this.dialog.setMessage("Fetching data..."); this.dialog.show(); } protected Void doInBackground(String... args) { Looper.prepare(); locationResult = new LocationResult() { public void gotLocation(Location location) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub // LocationServices.this.location = location; System.out.println("Progress dialog should be present now - latitude"+location.getLatitude()); System.out.println("Progress dialog should be present now - longitude"+location.getLongitude()); } }; myLocation.getLocation(LocationServices.this, locationResult); return (null); } protected void onProgressUpdate(Integer... progress) { } protected void onPostExecute(Void unused) { dialog.dismiss(); } } } I am quite puzzled, thinking of what makes this progress dialog disappear even before the SOP in doinbackground is finished. Experts, please help me understand and resolve this issue. Any help in this regard is well appreciated. Looking forward, Best Regards, Rony

  • How to pass json via a form element

    - by becomingGuru
I have this swf (flash) file that provides the json that needs to be sent to the server. I wrote a very simple jQuery: function submitForm(swf_json) { $('#swfjson').val(swf_json); #swfjson is an input of type hidden $('#titleForm').submit(); } and the swf will call the submitForm above and I receive the request.POST in django as usual. But, django is interpreting the swf_json as a string "Object object" >>>type(request.POST['swfjson']) <type 'unicode'> Of course I can pass the json as a string to the view function. Doesn't seem good to me. Any other way of passing the json object to the django view?

  • Android ListView: how to select an item?

    - by mmo
I am having trouble with a ListView I created: I want an item to get selected when I click on it. My code for this looks like: protected void onResume() { ... ListView lv = getListView(); lv.setOnItemSelectedListener(new OnItemSelectedListener() { public void onItemSelected(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int pos, long id) { Log.v(TAG, "onItemSelected(..., " + pos + ",...) => selected: " + getSelectedItemPosition()); } public void onNothingSelected(AdapterView<?> adapterView) { Log.v(TAG, "onNothingSelected(...) => selected: " + getSelectedItemPosition()); } }); lv.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(AdapterView<?> adapterView, View view, int pos, long id) { lv.setSelection(pos); Log.v(TAG, "onItemClick(..., " + pos + ",...) => selected: " + getSelectedItemPosition()); } }); ... } When I run this and click e.g. on the second item (i.e. pos=1) I get: 04-03 23:08:36.994: V/DisplayLists(663): onItemClick(..., 1,...) => selected: -1 i.e. even though the OnItemClickListener is called with the proper argument and calls a setSelection(1), there is no item selected (and hence also OnItemSelectedListener.onItemSelected(...) is never called) and getSelectedItemPosition() still yields -1 after the setSelection(1)-call. What am I missing? Michael PS.: My list does have =2 elements...

  • Changing Color with LinearLayout and TextView in Java (Android)

    - by Rob S.
I'm a relatively new Android developer and I noticed what seems like an oddity to me that I'm hoping someone can explain. I have LinearLayout ll. This line of code fails for me when executed: ll.setBackgroundColor(R.color.white); However this line of code works: ll.setBackgroundResource(R.color.white); I assume its simply because I have white defined in my resources. However, I've also tried passing 0xFFFFFF in setBackgroundColor() and that doesn't work either. Similarly with my TextView text this line of code fails when executed: text.setTextColor(R.color.white); I can see my TextView so I know I initialized it correctly (like my LinearLayout which I can also see). So I guess my question boils down to: How do I properly use LinearLayout.setBackgroundColor() and TextView.setTextColor() ? Thanks a ton in advance. I've read through the docs and tried to find information online via googling and haven't come up with anything.

  • Good resources for Wordpress?

    - by Smickie
Hi, I'm building quite a large site, no e-commerce, but a a lot of specific content to be managed. For some reason, the client wants Wordpress. There is no way of getting around this... I've used Wordpress before to rapidly develop blogs, but that's about it. If anything goes beyond the scope of Wordpress I'll use a framework in something (Rails/Cake). This build is going to require custom plug-ins and widgets, so what I'm asking is how is the best way to go about learning how Wordpress and best practices for plug-ins and widgets?

  • Using selector to change TextView text color

    - by rafuru
I'm trying to use a TextView to define the style of a TabWidget on a tabhost. I just created a selector for bgcolor and works fine, but i want to make a selector for textColor but the text color don't change: This is my tab_text_selector.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <selector xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" > <item android:state_selected="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> <item android:state_focused="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> <item android:state_pressed="true" android:color="@android:color/white" /> </selector> And this is the code when i'm trying to use on a textView: TextView txtTab=new TextView(this); txtTab.setTextColor(R.drawable.tab_text_selector); txtTab.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.tab_bg_selector); txtTab.setGravity(Gravity.CENTER); txtTab.setText("Agregar Idea"); I know the text color must be white in any case but it doesn't.

  • Customizing TabWidget in SDK 1.5, API 3

    - by Dylan McClung
I'm aware that API 3 doesn't allow a view to be set for a tab, but I still need to modify the TextView displayed as the indicator. I'd also like to change the Drawable for the tab, but I don't see a way to do it without a custom tab view as allowed in 1.6, API 4. Working with this generic example below, is there way to retrieve the TextView and modify its properties or change the drawable? TabHost tabHost = getTabHost(); TabHost.TabSpec spec; spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("nearby") .setIndicator("Nearby Activity") .setContent(R.id.nearby_list); tabHost.addTab(spec); spec = tabHost.newTabSpec("friends") .setIndicator("Friends & Favorites") .setContent(R.id.friends_list); tabHost.addTab(spec); tabHost.setCurrentTabByTag("nearby"); Thanks for any help.

Hi, I tried to get the address of a particular location by giving static geocordinates. I was not able to fetch the address. Can someone please help. I just need to check whether this function works for me. Here is my snippet. Geocoder geocoder = new Geocoder(AddressSimulator.this, Locale.getDefault()); List<Address> addresses = geocoder.getFromLocation(1.352566007, 103.78921587, 1); System.out.println("Addresses size"+addresses.size()); Address size is obtained as zero. I tried with few other geocordinates also, but address size is always returned as 0. Experts, kindly help me resolve this. Looking forward for your valuable help/suggestions, Best Regards, Rony

  • How to make Dajax callback into scoped object

    - by BozoJoe
I cant seem to find a way to make django-dajaxice have its callback inside same scoped object from which made the initial call. MyViewport = Ext.extend(MyViewportUi, { initComponent: function() { MyViewport.superclass.initComponent.call(this); }, LoadRecordsCallback: function(data){ if(data!='DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION') { alert(data); } else { alert('DAJAXICE_EXCEPTION'); } }, LoadRecords: function(){ Dajaxice.Console.GetUserRecords(this.LoadRecordsCallback); } }); var blah = new MyViewport(); blah.LoadRecords(); I'm on django, and like the calling syntax to django-dajaxice. I'm using Extjs 3.2 and tried passing a Ext.createCallback but Dajax's returning eval seems to only want a string for the callback.

  • Showing Loading screen during REST service request in android app ?

    - by sat
Currently here is what I am following, As soon as my app is launched, I have to send a request for REST service, It will take little time , so I thought of showing loading screen, In onCreate() of my Activity , first thing will be to show loading screen(progress dialog) , And I kick off the background Activity using AsyncTask , i.e. requesting for REST service and onPostexecute() I close the dialog and then I do setContentView(myxml); and update the UI . Can this approach be improved ? Problem which I faced was , Sometimes , Garbage collector may start(due to various reasons) and my app hangs at loading screen forever , because of Garbage collector , even request for REST service is not sent and because of it some wake up call comes and rest is disaster and Force close. But sometimes even ForceClose doesnot come fast , may be because of GC. so I cannot even go back and stuck in loading screen. Only thing which I can do at that point is to come back HOME. After that If I come back to my app its still loading , so definitely this approach seems to be a bad design. Whats the right approach ?

  • changing order of items in tkinter listbox

    - by user1104854
Is there an easier way to change the order of items in a tkinter listbox than deleting the values for specific key, then re-entering new info? For example, I want to be able to re-arrange items in a listbox. If I want to swap the position of two, this is what I've done. It works, but I just want to see if there's a quicker way to do this. def moveup(self, selection): value1 = int(selection[0]) - 1 #value to be moved down one position value2 = selection #value to be moved up one position nameAbove = self.fileListSorted.get(value1) #name to be moved down nameBelow = self.fileListSorted.get(value2) #name to be moved up self.fileListSorted.delete(value1,value1) self.fileListSorted.insert(value1,nameBelow) self.fileListSorted.delete(value2,value2) self.fileListSorted.insert(value2,nameAbove)

    - by Stanley

  • RadioGroup onCheckedChanged function won't fire

    - by user1758088
First time/long time. My app keeps track of restaurant servers' shift sales to help them budget. In the activity that displays past shifts, I've created a RadioGroup under the ListView so the server can choose lunch, dinner, or both. I've implemented RadioGroup.onCheckedChangeListener, but onCheckChanged never gets called. I also tried an anonymous inner class as listener, same result. I tried to copy/modify code from this answer: http://stackoverflow.com/a/9595528 ...but when I added the @Override to the callback function, the Eclipse compiler gave me an error (not warning) that the method must override a superclass, and the quick fix was to remove the override. I'm pretty sure the signatures are correct, as they were made with Eclipse's autocomplete and implement methods facilities. I then followed instructions to move my java compiler from 1.5 to 1.6, and none of the above listed behavior seemed to change. Here's the code I thing is relavent: public class DataActivity extends ListActivity implements OnCheckedChangeListener{ RadioButton rbBoth; RadioButton rbDinnerOnly; RadioButton rbLunchOnly; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState){ super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.database); ... final RadioGroup rgGroup = (RadioGroup)findViewById(R.id.DataRadioGroup); rbBoth = (RadioButton)findViewById(R.id.RadioBoth); rbDinnerOnly = (RadioButton)findViewById(R.id.RadioDinnerOnly); rbLunchOnly = (RadioButton)findViewById(R.id.RadioLunchOnly); rgGroup.setOnCheckedChangeListener(this); populateAllShifts(); } ... public void onCheckedChanged(RadioGroup group, int checkedId) { rbLunchOnly.setText("Click!"); Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Lunch Only", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show(); if(group.getCheckedRadioButtonId() == R.id.RadioBoth){ populateAllShifts(); return; } if(group.getCheckedRadioButtonId() == R.id.RadioLunchOnly){ populatLunchShifts(); return; } if(group.getCheckedRadioButtonId() == R.id.RadioDinnerOnly){ populateDinnerShifts(); return; } } There is a ListView in this class with a custom adapter, but if my understanding and my XML are correct, the RadioGroup should be outside of the list: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <LinearLayout xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/llDataLayout" android:weightSum="5" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:orientation="vertical"> <ListView android:layout_weight="4" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:id="@android:id/list" android:layout_height="wrap_content"></ListView> <RadioGroup android:layout_weight="1" android:id="@+id/DataRadioGroup" android:orientation="horizontal" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="fill_parent"> <RadioButton android:text="Lunch and Dinner" android:textSize="10dp" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/RadioBoth"/> <RadioButton android:text="Dinner Only" android:textSize="10dp" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/RadioDinnerOnly"/> <RadioButton android:text="Lunch Only" android:textSize="10dp" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:id="@+id/RadioLunchOnly"/> </RadioGroup> </LinearLayout> Any ideas out there?
