• Refining Solr searches, getting exact matches?

  Afternoon chaps, Right, I'm constructing a fairly complex (to me anyway) search system for a website using Solr, although this question is quite simple I think... I have two search criteria, location and type. I want to return results that are exact matches to type (letter to letter, no exceptions), and like location. My current search query is as follows ../select/?q=location:N1 type:blue&rows=100&fl=*,score&debugQuery=true This firstly returns all the type blue's that match N1, but then returns any type that matches N1, which is opposite to what I'm after. Both fields are set as textgen in the Solr schema. Any pointers? Cheers gang

  How I can lookup a specific date in Nhibernate? I'm currently using this to lookup one day's order. ICriteria criteria = SessionManager.CurrentSession.CreateCriteria(typeof(Order)) .Add(Expression.Between("DateCreated", date.Date.AddDays(-1), date.Date.AddDays(1))) .AddOrder(NHibernate.Criterion.Order.Desc("OrderID")); I tried the following code, but they did bring the data for me. Expression.Eq("DateCreated", date) Expression.Like("DateCreated", date) Note: The pass in date value will be like this 2010-04-03 00:00:00, The actual date value in the database will be like this 2010-03-13 11:17:16.000 Can anyone let me know how to do this?   I am trying to get a list of parents where the child collection does not contain an item of a specific type. The LINQ equivalent would be something like: dataset.Where(x => x.Items.FirstOrDefault(y => y.Type.Code == "ABC") == null) The object model is Parent Child (Items) Type Code If Parent is my aggregate root, how would I model this in NHibernate criteria/query? Here's my first attempt: var results = session.CreateCriteria<Parent>() .CreateCriteria("Items") .CreateCriteria("Type") .Add(Restrictions.Not(Restrictions.Eq("Code", "ABC"))) .SetResultTransformer(Transformers.DistinctRootEntity) .List<Parent>(); This doesn't seem to return the right entities - it just returns them all.

• HQL - row identifier for pagination

  Does anyone know if HQL has a keyword to identify rows such as ROWID or ROWNUM? I would like to implement pagination with HQL but I am not able to use .setMaxResult() or .setFirstResult() because I don't work with the session object directly and therefore don't use the Query object but simply create my query as a string and use the .find() method. I tried using LIMIT and OFFSET in my query, but HQL seems to be ignoring these keywords and is returning the whole result to me no matter what. I'm also not able to use Hibernate criteria because it does not have support for the "HAVING" clause that appears in my query. My last resort is to restrict the result set using the ROWNUM/ROWID keyword. Does anyone else have any other suggestions?

  Q: This question is about how can i figure or select the convenient ORM to my web application. when beginning a new web application,What are the criteria on which i can consider a specific ORM is better than another one for my project or case(web application)? another part of my question : when i begin any web application i use three layers: the DB layer (which contains the connections , and handle the CRUD operations ) the Managers layer(the Data Access Layer) a class for each table on my db (loosely coupled with the previous layer )it contains the CRUD operations for the specific table and the other required operations. the interface layer.. and i use Object Data source.Is that considered as an ORM (as a concept) or I'm wrong in understanding this concept. note:I still a beginner in this field ,, and every day i learn more about web development. please i want explanation and suggestions for this point. • Memcachedb Versus MongoDB Versus CouchDB in terms of file based caching solution?

  We need a caching solution that essentially caches data (text files) anywhere from 3 days up to a week based on user preferences and criteria. In this case memory based caching does not make sense to us. We were referred to MemcacheDB however I also thought of some NO SQL solutions. Our current application uses RDMS (MYSQL) and I guess it makes sense to use MemcacheDB however NOSQL does appeal as it is something more on the horizon. However we have not deployed a production level application under NOSQL and the beta stuff does not settle well with management/investors. Any how what are your thoughts and how would you address it?   I have an application with some bunch of code like this: errCode = callMainSystem(); switch (errCode){ case FailErr: error("Err corresponding to val1\n"); case IgnoreErr: error("Err corresponding to val2\n"); ... ... default: error("Unknown error\n"); } The values are enum constants. Will it make some sense to have something like: // Error* callMainSystem() ... Some code return FaileErr(); // or some other error // handling code Error* err = callMainSystem(); err->toString(); The Error class may be made singleton as it only has to print error messages. What are the pros and cons of above methods,size is an important criteria as the application needs to be supported on embedded devices as well. P.S: I don't want to use exception handling because of portability issues and associated overheads.

  I'm sure that there's an easy answer to this, but I can't find it. I have a table 'myTable' which I stripe using the following $("#myTable tr:even").css({ "background-color": "#FEE996" }); $("#myTable tr:odd").css({ "background-color": "#FFEFAF" }); This works fine. I am also using a table filter plugin as follows $('#myTable').tableFilter(); This plugin places a blank field at the top of each column into which the filter criteria can be typed. When the table is filtered it removes unmatched rows, which in turn messes up the striping. I would like to be able to re-invoke the lines to re-stripe the table. Something like $('#myTable').tableFilter().find("tr:even").css({ "background-color": "#FEE996" }).find("tr:even").css({ "background-color": "#FFEFAF" }); Is this possible please?

  I have the following code: int main(void) { struct { int x; } a, b; struct { int x; } c; struct { int x; } *p; b = a; /* OK */ c = a; /* Doesn't work */ p = &a; /* Doesn't work */ return 0; } which fails to compile under GCC (3.4.6), with the following error: test.c:8: error: incompatible types in assignment test.c:9: warning: assignment from incompatible pointer type Now, from what I understand (admittedly from the C99 standard), is that a and c should be compatible types, as they fulfill all the criteria in section 6.2.7, paragraph 1. I've tried compiling with std=c99, to no avail. Presumably my interpretation of the standard is wrong?

  I'd like to create a regular expression that will match and return based on the following criteria: 1) I have N search terms entered by a user 2) I have a body of text. 3) I want to return a list of all the occurrences of all the search terms entered by the user plus surrounding context. I think (\w+\W+){,4}(", ")(\W+\w+){,4} might work. 4) I don't know how to use RegexKitLite at all. Do I invoke a RegexKitLite class? or does it interface into NSString somehow?

• second sorting with php usort

  So Ive got a pretty big array of data and need to sort them by two criteria. There is variable $data['important'] and $data['basic']. They are simple numbers and I am using uasort to sort $data firstly by important and then by basic. So Important | Basic 10 | 8 9 | 9 9 | 7 7 | 9 The usort function is a simple public function sort_by_important($a, $b) { if ($a[important] > $b[important]) { return -1; } elseif ($b[important] > $a[important]) { return 1; } else { return 0; } } How can I re-sort the array to the second variable and keep the Important ordering? Any pointers on how I can do this without using HQL?

  I am trying to use the text attribute as a selector, but I can't quite grasp the behaviour, would really appreciate if someone could explain. For example given <span class="span_class"><a class="a_class">text</a></span>, $('a.a_class').text() gives "text" as expected. However $('a.a_class[text]') wouldn't match any elements, and neither would $('span.span_class > a.a_class[text]'), but $('span.span_class* > a.a_class[text]') would (although not in IE). The only workaround I can think of for IE, is loop through all anchors contained in a span, use .text() on each and match it against a certain criteria, but it seems slower than using in-built selectors. Anyone have better ideas?

• Autofiltered List; cross-row formula

  I have a large Autofiltered list (~600 rows), with some of the rows being summary rows that I want to use a UDF to display the lowest priority listed in any of the 'child' cells. I can pass to my formula the right cells, but they are no longer correct if the list is re-ordered in any way. Is there a way to give the formula the right cell and have it recognise that I want that row and only ever that row? I can do it with a VLOOKUP to look at a hidden column that lists wether the 'child' row matches the right criteria, but with 600 rows and each parent row requiring about a dozen 'child' cells each, it's too slow.

• YUI and/or jQuery for a new project?

  If I am starting a new project how should I pick between using YUI 2, YUI 3 and jQuery? I know there are a bunch of questions/answers already about can you use them together, but I am trying to figure out what criteria I should be thinking about to make my decision. Are they overlapping? Is one better at GUI and the other better at internals? Do they play well together? My understanding from other questions is that they can live in different namespaces, so they can live together, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it is good to use both. Thanks!

  The SolrInstall wiki page lists seven different server / Servlet Containers compatible with Solr: Tomcat Jetty Resin JBoss WebSphere Weblogic Glassfish I'm sure that "best" is subjective, so I'll just say my criteria are: easiest to set up, best for search performance with a smallish, infrequently-updated dataset, and with the fewest number of gotchas. Jetty and Tomcat both have apt-get solr packages, so they're clearly the frontrunners for some. Jetty is used in the demo install, but there's some notes that Jetty has some difficulties handling Unicode in some cases. Tomcat is a common choice but my understanding is that it's not as lightweight and has a lot of features not needed by Solr. Is it worth considering any of the others? Are there some important pro's and cons I should be aware of?

  Hi all, Someone came to me and asked me if I could add a form to their Joomla page. I figured this should be easy since Joomla is widely used and such thing should be supported. I'm googling arround for 1,5h now, and I have given 4 formcreators a try but this is driving me crazy. The editors are all very complex for the simplest task I want. A simple form with: 5 text input; 1 radio selection criteria; the message a visitor sends. So I've given pretty much up upon formbuilders.   I'm trying to store a blooming season in month for each tree in SQLite3. Currently I had the field "month" then I store the month name in the field. For example Tree Name Month Tree1 Jan,Feb,Mar Tree2 Nov,Dec,Jan Tree3 Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,May,Jun,Jul,Aug,Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec Tree4 Mar,Apr,Nov,Dec Tree5 Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr I'm not sure if this is the best way to store it, Any recommendation is appreciate. Secondly, I need to perform a query where I enter in the month and it should return me the tree name that match the search criteria. For example If I search for "Jan" the result should be Tree1,Tree2,Tree3,Tree5 "Jan,Feb,Mar" the result should be Tree1,Tree3,Tree5 "Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr" the result should be Tree5 "Sep,Oct,Nov,Dec" the result should be none Which SQL query do I have to use in order to obtain the above result? • Where to intercept resolution of controller/view in ASP.Net MVC for customizations?

  I am trying to figure out where the appropriate place is to intercept the resolution of what view + controller is being called in ASP.Net MVC 2. I have a situation where I have a controller and a corresponding set of views. I also have the possibility of a customized version of both the controller and N of the views sitting in the project (or we may use something like Portable Views from the MvcContrib project). If the customized version of the controller or view(s) exists at run time, and the user satisfies certain criteria, I need to call the customized controller and use the appropriate customized view. At design/compile time we don't know what customizations may be in place. My first run at this was by using a custom controller factory that returns a custom controller if it exists. However, this controller is "wired up" to the standard view, and I cannot figure out how to return the customized view if it also exists. To complicate matters, there may be no customized controller but customized views, and visa-versa.

  Hi all, I have sharepoint list with several columns - month, year and some custom data. I want to provide 2 dropdowns to allow user select month and year to filter rows. I added "Choice Filter" webpart for month and set connection to list (this works). I added second "Choice Filter" for year and I wanted to do the same. However, I cannot set connection to list, because mylist is disabled in webpart menu "Edit-Connections-Send filter values to". How can I apply 2 filtering criteria? Thanks, Juraj
