  • Why is cakephp form input stored in $this->data and POST data stored in $this->params['form'] ?

    the cakephp rest tutorial says that post data should be in $this-data, but I am finding that it is not, but instead inside $this-params['form'] However, when using cakephp form helper in a view, the data is in $this-data. Am I correct to have to check both locations in my controller? It just seems a bit of a waste of extra code. Shouldnt the data appear in one place for whether it came from a rest rest requestor or Cakephp form post? ps im using cakephp 1.3

  • Random selection in jQuery

    Im using the following function to hide a series of forms on a page: $('.ask').toggle(function() { $(this).text('-').next('.addtitle').slideDown('fast'); }, function() { $(this).text('+').next('.addtitle').slideUp('fast'); }); There can be anything from 0 to 5 forms on the page all with the class .ask What I want to be able to do is to select one form NOT to hide, so the jQuery needs to hide all put one of the forms on the page randomly. How can I achieve this?

Team has rows of football teams and Fixture has 2 of those football teams in each row (home and away team). I want to link team id to home_team and away_team but it doesnt allow me to.   • How to sort by hexadecimals in xslt?

    Hi, im trying to sort my transformed output by a element which contains a hex value. <xsl:sort select="Generation/Sirio/Code" data-type="number"/> Values are plain old Hex: 00 01 02 ... 0A ... FF but they are getting sorted like that: 0A FF 00 01 02, which indicates the sorting method fails as soon as there are character involved. How can i work around this? Thank you very much!

    I have a program which places structures in a linked list based on the 'name' they have stored in them. To find their place in the list, i need to figure out if the name im inserting is earlier or later in the alphabet then those in the structures beside it. The names are inside the structures, which i have access to. I don't need a full comaparison if that is more work, even just the first letter is fine. Thanks for the help!

  • Random number from a range in a Bash Script

    Hi, I need to generate a random port number between 2000-65000 from a shell script. The problem is $RANDOM is only a 16bit number, so im stuck! PORT=$(($RANDOM%63000+2001)) would work nicely if it wasn't for the size limitation. Does anyone have an example of how I can do this, maybe by extracting something from /dev/urandom and getting it within a range? Thanks.

    Is there any function in Objective-C to print a list of elements as unordered HTML elements. For ex - [@"a--b-c---d" htmlList: @"--"] returns @ "ab-c-d" the "--" is the delimiter to seperate the string of elements. I have used NSSArray to store the input string and function componentsSeperatedByString:@"--" to get the elements. How do I go ahead in adding the HTML tags li and /li between elements and ul and /ul at the end of the entire list? Please help, Im a beginner in objective -C

    So basically what im trying to do is queue up tasks in a thread pool to be executed as soon as a worker becomes free, i have found various examples of this but in all cases the examples have been setup to use a new Worker instance for each job, i want persistent workers. Im trying to make a ftp backup tool, i have it working but because of the limitations of a single connection it is slow. What i ideally want to do is have a single connection for scanning directories and building up a file list then four workers to download said files. "'"); In DB: userid = "TEST" Ho do i go about making sure the mysql query does not return TRUE for this query as the userid varialbe doesnt match the case of the userid in the database thanks

  • why do you write tests and what is a unit test and how does it differ other types of testing ?

    im curious as to know, why tests are written? why would bother writing it ? why not just compile and run the code or view it in your browser, click around and test out stuff. i mean i can understand, a crawler that checks your web app's functions....but why is tests written, maintained and treated as important as the main feature codes ? is it crucial to always write and use tests ?
