• Pushing a local mercurial repository to a remote server or cloning at server from local

  I have a local repository that I have now decided to push to a remote server (for example, I have a host that allows mercurial repositories and I am also trying to push to bitbucket). The repository has a lot of files and is a little more than 200mb. Locally, I am able to clone the repository without problems. Now I have a lot of changes in this repository, and I have wasted a couple of days trying to figure out how to get the remote server to clone my repository. I cannot get hg serve to work outside of the LAN. I have tried everything. So instead, I created a new repository at the remote servers (both at the host and bitbucket) with nothing in it. Now I am pushing the complete repository that I have locally to these remote locations. So far it has been unsuccessful, as the push operation is stuck on searching for changes and does not give me any other useful output. I have let it go for about an hour with no change. Now my questions is, what am I doing wrong as far as hg serve is concerned? I can access it locally but not remotely (through DynDns - I have configured it properly and the router forwards the ports correctly) so that I can get the server to clone the repository the first time after which I will be pushing to it. My second question is, assuming the clone at server does not work (for example, if I was to push my current repository to bitbucket), is creating an empty repository at the server and then pushing a local repository to the new remote repository ok? Is that the source of the searching for changes problem? Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

• Bing search API and Azure

  I am trying to programatically perform a search on Microsoft Bing search engine. Here is my understanding: There was a Bing Search API 2.0 , which will be replaced soon (1st Aug 2012) The new API is known as Windows Azure Marketplace. You use different URL for the two. In the old API (Bing Search API 2.0), you specify a key (Application ID) in the URL, and such key will be used to authenticate the request. As long as you have the key as a parameter in the URL, you can obtain the results. In the new API (Windows Azure Marketplace), you do NOT include the key (Account Key) in the URL. Instead, you put in a query URL, then the server will ask for your credentials. When using a browser, there will be a pop-up asking for a/c name and password. Instruction was to leave the account name blank and insert your key in the password field. Okay, I have done all that and I can see a JSON-formatted results of my search on my browser page. How do I do this programmatically in PHP? I tried searching for the documentation and sample code from Microsoft MSDN library, but I was either searching in the wrong place, or there are extremely limited resources in there. Would anyone be able to tell me how do you do the "enter the key in the password field in the pop-up" part in PHP please? Thanks alot in advance.

• TinyMCE loading lang/plugins/theme from incorrect directory

  I am having trouble with TinyMCE. When it is searching for the lang, theme, and plugins, it is supposed to look in the directory where the base script files are located. however, instead of doing that, it is using the current loaded page as the root for searching. I am looking at the "loadScripts" function in the src file, but changing the path doesn't seem to provide any meaningful effect. • PDF search on the iPhone

  After two days trying to read annotations from a PDF using Quartz, I've managed to do it and posted my code. Now I'd like to do the same for another frequently asked question: searching PDF documents with Quartz. Same situation as before, this question has been asked many times with almost no practical answers. So I need some pointers first, as I still haven't implemented this myself. What I tried: I tried using CGPDFScannerScan handling the TJ and Tj operators - returns the right text on some PDF, whereas on other documents it returns mostly random letters. Maybe it's related to text encoding? Someone pointed out that text blocks (marked by BT/ET operators) should be handled instead, but I still haven't managed to do so. Anyone managed to extract text from any PDF? After that, searching should be easy by storing all the text in a NSMutableString and using rangeOfString (if there's a better way please let me know). But then how to highlight the result? I know there are a few operators to find the glyph sizes, so I could calculate the resulting rect based on those values, but I've been reading the spec for hours... it's a bloated mess and I'm going insane. Anyone with a practical explanation? Thanks.

• Post parameters to a frame of new window

  I have to modify an existing web search page. There is a page, where all the search filters are (form with name "searchform"). When the search button is pressed, results are shown in new window. Because the search takes up to 30 seconds, and while searching the window stays blank, I have to add a label "Searching. Please wait..." at the new created window with the results. So the search window is created, and I set it's location to a frameset. First frame will show the label, and the second will show the results. But i can't manage to update the second frame with the results. • Change class of parent div if radio input checked

  I've been searching and searching google for answers to my question but have been unsuccessful so far. I'm hoping one of you guys could give me some assistance. I have 10 divs with the class name "dividend" holding a table with the classname/id of "container" then two smaller tables inside that. Within the container table at the bottom is a hidden radio button with the name "page1". I wrote an onClcick for the container table so the user can select the whole table instead of the radio button, but not I'm trying to change the style of the selected container so the users know they have selected it. I have tried a few different methods and I'm able to change the style to the new class by just writing document.getElementById('container').className = 'selected'; But because all 10 divs share the same name it will only change the style of the first element it finds. So I tried writing this loop to check if there are any selected radios in the document then to change the else name the style as the default. I'm sure its something stupid but I'm pretty stumped atm.. Any help would be appreciated. • SQL Server find and replace in TEXT field

  I have a database in SQL Server 2005 that was brought up from SQL Server 2000 and is still using TEXT type fields instead of varchar(max). I need to find and replace a string of characters in the text field but all of the examples of how to do this that I have found don't seem like they would work for me. It seems the UPDATETEXT command requires that the two parameters "insert_offset" and "delete_length" be set explicitly but the string i am searching for could show up in the text at any point or even at several points in the same cell. My understanding of these two parameters is that the string im searching for will always be in the same place, so that insert_offset is the number of spaces into the text that the UPDATETEXT command will start replacing text. Example: Need to find: &lt;u&gt; and Replace it with: <u> Text field example: *Everyone in the room was <b>&lt;u&gt;tired&lt;/u&gt;.</b><br>Then they woke <b>&lt;u&gt;up&lt;/u&gt;. Can anyone help me out with this? THANKS!

• Good C string libary

  Hello all. I recently got inspired to start up a project I've been wanting to code for a while. I want to do it in C, because memory handling is key this application. I was searching around for a good implementation of strings in C, since I know me doing it myself could lead to some messy buffer overflows, and I expect to be dealing with a fairly big amount of strings. I found this article which gives details on each, but they each seem like they have a good amount of cons going for them (don't get me wrong, this article is EXTREMELY helpful, but it still worries me that even if I were to choose one of those, I wouldn't be using the best I can get). I also don't know how up to date the article is, hence my current plea. What I'm looking for is something that may hold a large amount of characters, and simplifies the process of searching through the string. If it allows me to tokenize the string in any way, even better. Also, it should have some pretty good I/O performance. Printing, and formatted printing isn't quite a top priority. I know I shouldn't expect a library to do all the work for me, but was just wandering if there was a well documented string function out there that could save me some time and some work. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! EDIT: I was asked about the license I prefer. Any sort of open source license will do, but preferably GPL (v2 or v3). EDIt2: I found betterString (bstring) library and it looks pretty good. Good documentation, small yet versatile amount of functions, and easy to mix with c strings. Anyone have any good or bad stories about it? The only downside I've read about it is that it lacks Unicode (again, read about this, haven't seen it face to face just yet), but everything else seems pretty good. EDIT3: Also, preferable that its pure C.

• '??' Not a valid unicode character, but in the unicode character set?

  Short story: I can't get an entity like '𠂉' to store in a MySQL database, either by using a text field in a Ruby on Rails app (with default UTF-8 encoding) or by inputting it directly with a MySQL GUI app. As far as I can tell, all Chinese characters and radicals can be entered into the database without problem, but not these rarely typed 'character components.' The character mentioned above is unicode U+20089 and html entity &#131209; I can get it to display on the page by entering <html>&#131209;</html> and removing html escaping, but I would like to store it simply as the unicode character and keep the html escaping in place. There are many other Chinese 'components' (parts of full characters, generally consisting of 2 or 3 strokes) that cause the same problem. According to this page, the character mentioned is in the UTF-8 charset: http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/20089/charset_support.htm But on the neighboring '...20089/index.htm' page, there's an alert saying it's not a valid unicode character. For reference, that entity can be found in Mac OS X by searching through the character palette (international menu, "Show Character Palette"), searching by radical, and looking under the '?' radical. Apologies if this is too open-ended... can a character like this be stored in a UTF-8-based database? How is this character both supported and unsupported, both present in the character set and not valid?

• Installed SQL Server 2008 and now TFS is broken.

  Hi, My W2K3 server was running TFS 2008 SP1, SQL Server 2005 Development edition. I installed SQL Server 2008 Standard. I installed it while leaving SQL Server 2005 alone. • Unable to back up SQL Server databases using a maintenance plan

  I am trying to create a maintenance plan that will run automatically and back up my SQL Server 2005 databases automatically. I create a new maintenance plan and add a "Back Up Database Task", select all databases, and choose a path to back up to. When I save and try to execute this plan, I get the following error message: =================================== Execution failed. See the maintenance plan and SQL Server Agent job history logs for details. =================================== Job 'Backup.Subplan_1' failed. (SqlManagerUI) ------------------------------ Program Location: at Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SqlManagerUI.MaintenancePlanMenu_Run.PerformActions() I've checked the maintenance plan log, the agent log, and just about every log file I can find and there are no entries at all to help me figure out why this is failing. If I right-click on a specific database and select "Back Up", the task succeeds. I tried changing the plan to back up just that one database and it still failed. I've tried running the plan with both Windows authentication and SQL Server authentication with the sa account. I also tried specifically granting the SQL Server Agent user account full privileges on the backup folder, but it still failed. While searching the web for clues, the only solution I've run across so far suggests running sp_configure 'allow_update', 0. I tried this but allow_update was already set to 0 and it did not fix the problem. The Windows server and SQL Server have all updates applied to them. Thanks for any suggestions!

  I have a development server with 3 instances: Default, A and B. It is a physical server, non clustered. Whenever the syspolicy_purge_history job runs at 2 am, I get failed login alerts. Looking at the job steps, all are successfully completed. It appears that some point during the step "Erase Phantom System Health Records" is when the failed logins occur. syspolicy_purge_history on instance B works OK. syspolicy_purge_history on the Default instance seems to want to connect to instance B, resulting in: Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-B'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] . No errors are reported by Powershell. syspolicy_purge_history on the A instance seems to want to connect to the Default instance resulting in Error: 18456, Severity: 14, State: 11. Login failed for user 'Machinename\sqlsvc-Default'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>] .   I'm trying to use Windows Server Backup on my Windows Server 2012 box to backup my Hyper-V VMs. I created a backup job but each job ends with some "Access is denied" errors. One of my VMs (Linux Server) is backed up properly. All others (one Windows 8, one Linux) are not (or at least it seems that way from the looks of the log file below). How can I solve this problem? I am downloading reports from an AIX-based system by directing them to a TT printer which the terminal emulator (MultiView 2000) intercepts and directs to the default printer on the local system. This local printer is configured as a vanilla Generic/Text printer attached to a FILE port. When I print from AIX, the output is spooled down and the local printer prompts for a file name into which to save the file...but not under Windows 7. This has worked fine for many years, on both Win2K and WinXP. However, on Windows 7 the output gets spooled as a file into spool\PRINTERS (and looks as expected) but the print job then hangs with a status of "Error - Printing" and never prompts for a file name. I have to cancel the job. The Generic/Text printer works as expected with other applications. I have tried setting the printer to print directly rather than spooling but this only serves to hang the terminal session too. I've also tried to run the emulator in Windows 2000 Compatibility Mode and as Administrator in case it was something like that but with no luck. As you might expect, it does work fine in XP Mode (as long as I print to a printer defined therein and not the host's printer) but operationally this isn't going to be an option. Obviously this emulation software is a decade old (at least) and I could just cross/upgrade all the users (at a cost) but, before I do so, has anyone seen this sort of behaviour before and found some sort of fix? • Scripting an automated SQLServer 2008 DR move

  Hi All We use the built in logshipping in SQLServer to logship to our DR site but once in a month do a DR test which requires us to move back and forth between our Live and BAckup servers. We run multiple (30) databases on the system so manually backing up the final logs and disabling the jobs is too much work and takes too long. I though no problem, I will script it but have run into trouble with it always complaninig that the final logship is too early to apply even though I dont export the final log until putting the database into norecovery mode. Firstly, does any one no a simple and reliable way of doing this? I have lokoed at some 3rd party software (redgate sqlbackup I think it was) but that didnt make it easy in this situation either. What I want to be able to do is basically run a script (a series of stored procedures) to get me to DR and run another to get me back with no dataloss. My scripts are very simplistic at the moment but here they are: 2 servers Primary Paris Secondary ParisT The StartAgentJobAndWait is a script written by someone else (ta) and just checks the jobs have finished or quits it if it never ends.   I have been struggling with this one for months! Grateful for any advice. The setup is a windows 2003 server network, 4xservers on the domain. Two exchange 2007 servers (only one with mailboxes still on). Backup Exec (12.5) on a non-exchange server with agents on the others. Backup exec runs a full backup of exchange across the network well, at pretty reasonable speeds. However, when you try any kind of restore (individual emails, mailboxes or whole system restore - all to same location or to alternate server, RSG etc) the following message is received within about 10-15 secs of starting the job: Job ended: 24 December 2010 at 13:28:32 Completed status: Failed Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again. If the server or resource no longer exists, remove it from the selection list. Edit the selection list properties, click the View Selection Details tab, and then remove the resource. • Hudson Mercurial checkout throws exception on Debian

  I'm trying to configure Hudson to checkout my site's sources from Mercurial but it throws an exception. • Is there a way to tell SGE to run specific jobs as root on the execution node?

  The title kinda says it all... We're using SGE/OGE to submit jobs to a set of worker nodes that then do things with specific pieces of equipment. The programs and scripts that have been created that manipulate this equipment rely on running as root. I'd like SGE to handle allocation of resources in a way that is mindful of users, groups, projects, etc., but I also need the actual jobs to run with root permissions. I've read up on How can one run a prologue script as root in gridengine? to see if anything there was pertinent, but it seems that SGE is providing the "user@" kind of spec specifically for prolog and epilog kinds of actions. Is there any similar functionality for the job itself? I'm aware of su/sudo approaches, but that won't really work in this environment because the sudoers file isn't globally managed (i.e. I'd have to add a whole set of users to /etc/sudoers on lots of machines). I'm currently looking into a setuid kind of solution, but that would definitely be an unnecessary kind of work-around if SGE provides me a way to declare that a specific job (or jobs in a specific queue) always needs to run with a specific user's rights.

• Why do weekly tasks created via PowerShell using a different user fail with error 0x41306

  We have some scripts that create scheduled jobs using PowerShell as part of our application. When testing them recently, I noticed that some of them always failed immediately, and no output is ever produced (they don't even appear in the Get-Job list). After many days of tweaking, we've managed to isolate it to any jobs that are set to run weekly. Below is a script that creates two jobs that do exactly the same thing. When we run this on our domain, and provide credentials of a domain user, then force both jobs to run in the Task Scheduler GUI (right-click - Run), the daily one runs fine (0x0 result) and the weekly one fails (0x41306). Note: If I don't provide the -Credential param, both jobs work fine. The jobs only fail if the task is both weekly, and running as this domain user. I can't find information on why this is happening, nor think of any reason it would behave differently for weekly jobs. The "History£ tab in the Task Scheduler has almost no useful information, just "Task stopping due to user request" and "Task terminated", both of which have no useful info: Task Scheduler terminated "{eabba479-f8fc-4f0e-bf5e-053dfbfe9f62}" instance of the "\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell\ScheduledJobs\Test1" task. Task Scheduler stopped instance "{eabba479-f8fc-4f0e-bf5e-053dfbfe9f62}" of task "\Microsoft\Windows\PowerShell\ScheduledJobs\Test1" as request by user "MyDomain\SomeUser" . What's up with this? Why do weekly tasks run differently, and how can I diganose this issue? This is PowerShell v3 on Windows Server 2008 R2. I've been unable to reproduce this locally, but I don't have a user set up in the same way as the one in our production domain (I'm working on this, but I wanted to post this ASAP in the hope someone knows what's happening!).
