• NetBeans Platform Unit Test Library Dependencies

  I am working on a Netbeans Platform RCP application. I use jmock in my unit tests and I have created a Library Wrapper Module to import the necessary libraries. The Module has an section named 'Libraries' and another section named 'Unit Test Libraries'. I hoped that I could add the JMock Library Wrapper to the 'Unit Test Libraries', however when I run the unit tests I get the error 'package org.jmock does not exist'. If I import the JMock Library Wrapper in to the main 'Libraries' element then it works, but this feels wrong. Maven allows me to specify unit-test only dependencies, and I assumed that NetBeans Platform did the same. Should this be possible? Am I doing something wrong? Should I resign myself to a run-time dependency on the unit-test libraries (ugh).

  I've looked on SO and it seems that most people have been recomending books as the best iphone development resource due to the lack of resources on the web. I've seen the book the The Pragmatic Programmer: iPhone SDK development been recomended a few times. I'm planning to go buy a couple of books. Which should I go for? Please give reason :) A bit of background : I have a strong background in C and I've played around with Cocoa so something iphone specific would be best ( but I'm open for suggestions ;)) Update I'm not looking for simple listings of iphone SDK related books, I can google that ;) I want books that people are reading/have read and would recomend :) Final Update I just ordered my copy of Beginning iPhone Development: Exploring the iPhone SDK. My main reasons on chosing it are that it's already in print (unlike the pragmatic one) and I looked at the preview on their website and I liked it.

• Extract object (*.o) files from an iPhone static library

  I have a set of iPhone static libraries (a *.a file) in which I only call a few of the classes from. I have used AR in the past (with linux libraries) to extract the object files from the static library, remove the unwanted object files and rearchive. However, when I try this with an iPhone compliled static library, I get the following error: ar: CustomiPhoneLib.a is a fat file (use libtool(1) or lipo(1) and ar(1) on it) ar: CustomiPhoneLib.a: Inappropriate file type or format Does anyone know how to extract the object files from an iphone compiled static library? Doing thie could potentially reduce the final file size.

• Calling C/C++ library function from PHP

  We have a PHP web app running on a customer's machine. For an update, we have a bit of code in C that we'd like to include as a native opaque library along with the PHP web app. How does one go about calling a C/C++ lib. function from PHP? It cannot be assumed that the PHP app, called by the web server, has any sort of permission to call an exec(), eval(), or system() type of function to execute a C wrapper driver which in turn uses the C/C++ library, so it would need to be a direct C library use from within the PHP code.

• What's a good, threadsafe, way to pass error strings back from a C shared library

  Hello, all- I'm writing a C shared library for internal use (I'll be dlopen()'ing it to a c++ application, if that matters). The shared library loads (amongst other things) some java code through a JNI module, which means all manners of nightmare error modes can come out of the JVM that I need to handle intelligently in the application. Additionally, this library needs to be re-entrant. Is there in idiom for passing error strings back in this case, or am I stuck mapping errors to integers and using printfs to debug things? Thanks!

I am looking for a good ldap library on Django, that would allow me to manage my ldap server : adding, modifying, deleting entries for groups, users, and all kind of objects The library django-ldapdb looked promising, it offers a Model base class that can be used to declare ldap objects in a Django fashion (which is what we ideally want), however we've had some bugs with it, and furthermore it seems like it is not maintained any more. Does somebody know a good library that could do the trick ? Otherwise I guess I'll just try to improve and debug django-ldapdb ... Thanks !

• Linking error in OMNeT++ using Boost serialization library

  I'm very new to OMNeT++ and I'd like to use the serialization-library contained in the boost framework. However, when trying to use it, I get quite many errors such as: Description Resource Path Location Type undefined reference to `boost::archive::archive_exception::~archive_exception()' OmCCN line 36, external location: /home/alexander/UniBE/BT/simulator/boost-compiledLibs /include/boost/serialization/throw_exception.hpp C/C++ Problem . I guess the problem is that I didn't yet link the compiled library in OMNeT. I've had a look at the makefile but any changes there are worthless since it is generated automatically by makemake. Furthermore, trying to access the menu item 'makemake' in project properties OMNeT++ IDE throws an error (The currently displayed page contains invalid values). Can anyone give me a hint concerning what the error could cause or how to link the compiled library correctly? Any hints are very appreciated! cheers alex

  I am looking for TDD resources that are specific to Rails. I've seen the Rails Guide: The Basics of Creating a Rails Plugin which really spurred my interest in the topic. I have the Agile Development with Rails book and I see there's some testing-related information there. However, it seems like the author takes you through the steps of building the app, then adds testing afterward. This isn't really Test Driven Development. Ideally, I'd like a book on this, but a collection of other tutorials or articles would be great if such a book doesn't exist. Things I'd like to learn: Primary goal: Best Practices Unit testing How to utilize Fixtures Possibly using existing development data in place of fixtures What's the community standard here? • Should we develop code on a local machine in a VLAN?

  Because of security reasons, we will not be able to use IIS on our local machines. I'm sure that many of you have faced the same problem, so how did you solve it? Here are the options that we're looking at: Create a VLAN that is isolated from the network for development. This will allow us to use any software, including IIS, that we want. A disadvantage is testing Web services with external organizations, which can be overcome by using stubs. Not use a VLAN and use only the ASP.NET Development Server that comes with Visual Studio, and then deploying that code to the development server. This has the disadvantage of not being able to replicate the production environment during local development. In addition, at least one developer needs IIS for GIS development, so he couldn't develop locally. Thank you for comments or suggestions that you may have!

• Locale C++ shared library in /usr/local/lib

  I'm venturing into the world of C++ and Linux, and am having problems linking against a shared library. I have a library, libicuuc.so.44.1, installed in /usr/local/lib. There is also a link in the same directory, libicuuc.so.44 pointing to that library. My /etc/ld.so.conf reads: include /etc/ld.so.conf.d/*.conf I have a file, /etc/ld.so.conf.d/libc.conf, that contains: # libc default configuration /usr/local/lib However, when I compile my program (that includes LIBS += -licuuc), I get the following error at runtime: error while loading shared libraries: libicuuc.so.44: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I am using Qt Creator on Ubuntu 10.04. Any help is greatly appreciated!

• Editing A Library Symbol From ActionScript

  In the Flash authoring environment I can edit a library symbol and all on-stage instances based upon it reflect the changes. How can I do the same thing in ActionScript? There seems to be no way to address a library symbol. For example: Inside Flash CS3, I have created a Square.swf file that has 100 instances of the library symbol Square. Now, Square.swf is loaded into another file BlueSquare.swf and I want to change the Square symbol into a blue square so that all instances of Square become blue. How do I do this using Actionscript?   6.4.2 Is there separation of duties between personnel assigned to the development/test environments and those assigned to the production environment? What does the separation of duties here mean? Is it in the sense of http://www.sans.edu/research/security-laboratory/article/it-separation-duties or something else? The formulation "between test and production environment" is really confusing me, it looks like they mean that one should have different sysadmins for test and production? Or do they just mean that developers shouldn't have access to production? thanks.

  I have been trying a lot (but not smartly) to figure out setting up VIM, ctags, omnicomple for PHP development. On Googling I found this file. But have no clue how to use it. What have I done until now? Here it is: I am on Fedora 17 64-bit OS Logged in as root Found my VIM version to be VIM - Vi IMproved 7.3 (2010 Aug 15, compiled May 8 2012 15:05:51) Followed the install details as here http://www.vim.org/scripts/script.php?script_id=3171 install details Place in $HOME/.vim/autoload/phpcomplete.vim and enable the php ftplugin What else I am missing? How do I start using omnicomplete. (this is the first time I am using omnicomplete) Why didn't I try IDE's? I have a single core machine running LAMP stack. Didn't wanted to slow down everything and hence sticking to command line environment.

• Creating cookieless application on development machine with asp.net

  I am thinking about setting up a new domain to host static content on my website and have it cookieless just like Stackoverflow with their static domain. So before going ahead and buying the domain and setting it up I wanted to test it on my developement machine first under localhost (I have to mention that i am planning on having IIS running on my new domain for the static files). I therefore created a new application under IIS and disabled session state and forms authentication. When my main application needs resources like css, images and js , I use the path to the "static" application where they are hosted. The problem is that when I look at the request and the response for the requested files, they still have the session_id cookie defined as well as the asp.net authentication cookie. Is it at all possible to accomplish what i am trying to do on a development machine or do i have to just go ahead and purchase the new domain which hopefully with make things right? I tried to read about cookieless domain but can't figure out what i might be missing.

• PHP 5.2.11: Unable to load dynamic library complaints

  I installed PHP 5.2.11 and upon enabling the php_mssql.dll module (and the obligatory restart of the services) started receiving warnings about not being able to load the dynamic library. The operating environment is IIS ISAPI under Windows 2003 R2. Here is the list of things that were checked File Exists in \PHP\ext directory and has the same timestamp as the other distribution delivered libraries. Permissions are correct to the file. Other extensions are enabled and functioning with identical permissions. ntwdblib.dll has been copied from a SQL Server 2005 installation (per php.net's requirements for the module) Other modules before and after the php_mssql entry are working. I've also stripped down and remove all non-essential references with detectable improvements. I turned up logging and enabled all the error logs in the php.ini, nothing is generated by the logs. Searching Google has turned up a slew of closed/unsolved bug reports on php.net and some miscellaneous near-matches, none of which have really addressed the problem or lead to any inspirations.

• Errors installing the Curl library with PHP/Apache/Windows

  I'm having a hell of a time getting Curl to work with PHP/Apache on my Windows XP 64-bit development box. I have PHP and Apache successfully installed, but when I tried to enable Curl I get the following error (twice) from PHP on Apache startup: "PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'C:\php\ext\php_curl.dll' - The operating system cannot run %1." I did uncomment the correct line in PHP.ini. I did move the two DLLs (php_curl.dll and ssleay32.dll) into my PHO root, into my System32, even my apache root - but no matter where I put them, PHP can't find them. I keep getting the error above. Anyone have any idea how to remedy this?

• Best linux distro for cuda development

  Can someone suggest the best linux distro for CUDA development. The reason why I'm asking is that I tried installing the latest cuda SDK in Fedora 12, and it was a real pain in the neck. It took me 8 hours to get the nouveau driver removed and the nvidia-driver installed. After that somehow the OS decides to act up and blow up the /var/log/message file to 9 GB and eat up all my remaining space, with strange errors. I don't even understand what happened further, but my Nvidia drives don't work anymore. Please don't flame me, I'm NOT a windows fanboy or anything. I've been using Linux since 2002, and actually like it. Its just my personal experience. Would be really helpful for positive suggestions. Fanboys, please stay aside. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately the past developer didn't obey naming conventions so file includes are of the form "/file/At/SomethingHere.php" when on disk the path is actually "/File/at/Somethinghere.php". I do not want to use Windows for development but the filesystems I use (ext2, ext3 ) are case sensitive. I think the solution will be to create a filesystem like FAT 32 or similar, but I am somewhat clueless how to accomplish that. Starting to read up on DD and fdisk to figure out if those are the correct tools I will need.

I have successfully installed GSL through the yum command, but my statistical program gives an error when I try to run make install. I think there is a linking problem.   I recently attended an R training course and was happily working with a laptop in RStudio. On my return to the office I installed RStudio and I tried to run some scripts I had gathered from the course. However, these scripts required me to install packages and when I tried to install the packages the result was an error. Error in install.packages : path[1]="\file/users/bernard/R/win-library/2.15": Access is denied In my firm we write to a server drive refferred to as the U: drive rather than the hard disk on the desktop for security reasons. Any ideas what is going on? I have checked the properties of the folder in windows and it says I have permission but still it fails. I have tried creating a folder on the C drive and directing R_LIBS_USER to it but no luck.

• Squeeze/Lenny compilation : Library Link error

  I've got a problem here : I have a C++ Library ("DataTsBroad") and a C++ Test app ("DataTsBroadTest"), to test it. Actually, the Lib and the Test app are both compiled an a Debian Lenny. Now, i want to continue to compile my Test app on a Debian Lenny (customer constraint), but i would compile my lib on a Squeeze or a Wheezy to work on the last Debian releases. So, i successfully compiled my Lib on a Squeeze, But, after, when i try to compile my Test app with this Lib on the Lenny, it fails ! There is a Link Error : Linking CXX executable DataTsBroadTest /home/nis/pezierg/test/ProductMak/Export/DataTsBroad/L64/Release/libDataTsBroad64.so: undefined reference to `std::ctype::_M_widen_init() const@GLIBCXX_3.4.11' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make[2]: *** [DataTsBroadTest] Error 1 make[1]: *** [CMakeFiles/DataTsBroadTest.dir/all] Error 2 make: * [all] Error 2 The problem is certainly due to ostream C++ Lib, I tried to comment all it's uses in my Lib and it works. • Connect to development server via switch?

  I apologize upfront if this isn't appropriate for superuser. I asked it on serverfault and was told it was too general for that site. I have a laptop with Vista and it receives it's internet connection wireless. I have an old desktop with Ubuntu 10.04 Server Edition installed and it is setup as a development server with Apache, MySQL, and PHP. This works well, with the server having a static IP address. The server is connected to the router via an Ethernet cable. Is it possible to disconnect the cable that is currently connecting the server and the router, then connect the server and workstation to a switch, so that I am still able to connect to the server via web browser from the workstation? I am trying to eliminate the long ethernet cable connecting the server to the router in the other room. I already have a switch, that is why I asked specifically about it. • How to share iPhoto library between multiple users

  I am looking for advice on the best way to share an iPhoto library between two users on the same Mac. I currently use this approach and it works fine most of the time. One issue I have is that I will get a permission error when syncing my iPod. This seems to happen if the other user has used iPhoto and I have not opened iPhoto before syncing the iPod. If I open iPhoto then sync the iPod again there is no error. How do others solve this problem?
