  • MDX query for SSRS2008 parameter, to be used as filter in dataset

    What I want to do: The report parameter that the user can select from is a subset of the data available in a dimension. I have a query to retrieve this subset and it works fine. I am then trying to use the selection as a filter in a dataset. In the dataset properties, you can add a parameter based on the ones you have specified on the report, but when you look in the filters pane, there seems to be no way to select this. If I try and select something in there, it creates a whole new parameter and dataset. How can I get a dataset to consume and filter by a parameter that the user has selected?

    I have been recommended to use the Microsoft project as a project manager in my course. But being a opensource fan and linux user what will be the best opensource alternative to this. I have seen this question: Open Source Alternative to Microsoft Project?, which suggests to use openproj. Openproj's last version was released 2 years back so I was thinking otherwise. Also following the wiki project management softwares comparison, I found out there are lot of opensource alternatives. Some software in the list with maximum features I found out are: Endevour eGroupWare (web based) Onepoint Project Project.net Project-Open Redmine web2project (web based) Could anyone recommend what is the best (or most popular) alternative.     Hi, Im relatively new to sql server and excel/microsoft query, I have a query like this Select ...[data]...B1.b,B2.b,B3.b From TABLEA Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate] and [enddate] ) as B1 Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate-1week] and [enddate] ) as B2 Inner join ( SELECT ---[data]...sum(...) as b From TABLEB WHERE Date between [startdate-2weeks] and [enddate] ) as B3 Where Date between [startdate] and [enddate] It works, when i introduce the dates manually, but i need them to be "Dynamic" (introduced from excel) but, when I put the "?" (for parameters) on all the dates, it throws an error. "Invalid Parameter Number" :D How can i make this work, within excel? Im using SQL Server and Microsoft Query Connection Data.

  • How do I prevent a font from extending off the top of a textbox?

    I'm using a barcode font (IDAutomationMC39H) in an SSRS 2005 report I'm developing, and while it renders fine in the preview in BIDS, if I export the results to PDF, print the results, or do any of the above (including preview) in Report Manager, the barcode font is extending off the top of the textbox. The barcode itself is nearly 20px tall, even at only a 12pt size. I've tried changing the CanGrow value for the textbox, but it seems that even with that set off the barcode isn't pushing the bottom edge of the textbox downwards, it's simply extending over the top of the box. I've also tried resizing the textbox to allow it to contain the entire height of the font, but even with the VerticalAlign set to Bottom the barcode still sticks to the top of the textbox and overflows out the top. I am using VSTS 2008 + .Net 2.0 + C# + Windows Server 2008 x64 + SQL Server 2008 Enterprise 64-bit + ADO.Net + ASP.Net + IIS 7.0. My questions, whether Mdac technology could achieve my goal? any tutorial about this area (export from SQL Server to excel using Mdac) for a newbie with samples? thanks in advance, George

    I need to create a clients details report for a web based application in c#.Net. There will be multiple client details one by one. When take print of this web page, the first page will be the cover page and the remaining pages contains clients details. The pages except the cover page should be numbered “page x of y” in the centre of the footer. The top of each page should display the client name that is the subject of the sub-report. If part of a sub-report section spans onto a new page, the whole section should be moved to the new page. Any solution for implementing this?

    OK, I am a big fan of WPF, and while it is large area to fully understand, Microsoft has been great in posting loads of training video at http://windowsclient.net/learn/videos_wpf.aspx However with the release of 2010 it all seams to have gone very quite. I expected a lot of the support to be updated for 2010 and I also expected a lot of new videos on the best way to use the new features in 2010. Currently I find myself working through videos based on 2008 (or even 2005) and trying to apply them to 2010. Don't get me wrong it not that I mind doing this, it just that I fear I may be learning methods which have better or different solutions in 2010. It is just me expecting too much of Microsoft, or have I missed out on a new website?

  • Windows Azure - Microsoft.IdentityModel not found

    I installed WIF runtime and SDK on my machine. I added Microsoft.IdentityModel.dll to my azure web application and locally everything is running great. I build simple web application which use Azure AppFabric Access control. I follow azure labs for that and as I told, local everything is great. When I published my web application to Azure, I'm getting following error : Unable to find assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'. I get it after Appfabric Relaying part is going to return url, after sign in on identity provider. The weird thing is that I set Copy Local to TRUE, because that .dll is not part of Azure GAC. I tried to publish it again, but I received same error. I found few same problems on the internet but with no concrete solution. Does anybody here had something similar and probably have a working solution? Thank you in advance

  • Controlling usb devices from a droid?

    Anyone know where I can find information on how I can control the USB port on a Droid running Android 2.0? I want to know how to either initialize the USB port or send data across it vi a program. I want to be able to atatch a device to the USB port to act as a switch to control a microservo. So when I said "send data" across the port, I just need to be able to energize the transmit pin on the USB to turn the servo on. Thanks ahead, Tom

    If I am able to start up Devel::Cover successfully and it starts to collect data in the cover_db directory, can I then kill the process and then after the fact get Devel::Cover or some other utility to process those binary Devel::Cover run files and structure files into the HTML coverage report? To ask the question another way ... Can I use Devel::Cover to get a coverage report for a process that I am unable to stop, other than by killing the process?     I'm looking for some cost-effective solutions and/or open source options for generating reports in Excel and PDF format. I realize some of the open source options may have less in terms of functionality and flexibility than the COTS versions with all the bells and whistles, but are there any options out there that fall somewhere in between? EDIT: Essentially what I'll have are just some basic HTML reports of data in tables with some calculations/summary data but nothing fancy like graphs, etc. I'll then need the ability to export these HTML reports to Excel and/or PDF.

    I want to use a rdl file with the query information stored in it. I don't want to have to convert it to a rdlc file. I have an ASP.NET app that I want to show the report. I thought I would use a ReportViewer on my page and then have it use the rdl file. However, I get an error and in researching it appears that I have to convert the file to an rdlc file. I don't want to strip out the data contained in the report. How can I show the report to the user by running the rdl report?

The problem is I do not want a specific paramater to do this (i.e Hide column X True/False) My report has several diffrent "departments" who are only intrested in certain columns. What would be the syntax for example to hide the "Sales" column when the "Customer Care" paramater is set?

  • How to exclude hidden row vaue from total value SSRS

    I have an SSRS project and I want to exclude a row that I have hidden from the total. I have hidden the row based on an expression on the row visibility, where the row is hidden if: =IIF(IIF(ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value = 0, 0, ReportItems!Total_Contribution5.Value / IIF(ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value = 0, 1, ReportItems!CUST_CNT2.Value)) > 0, True, False) So basically the column totals for the report just total up all rows including this above row that I have hidden, and I need the total to exclude this row. Any ideas?
