  • NSWindow does not respond to keystroke command-s

    Hello, it may pre very simple, but cannot find it: I have three windows in three separate NIBs in my application. One is opened when a new document is opened, the other two can be opened from the program's window menu. The problem is: two windows (in them the one that is opened at the beginning) accepts the normal keystroke as for example command-s for save, and the other one does not and gives a warning sound instead. I cannot figure out the difference between the two windows or their controllers. I know it will have to do with the responder chain, but I am left clueless. Any ideas? Thanks, wackazong

    Hi there I have a MenuBar which contains general menu items like File, View, Tools ,Help. I have sub items in each of those menuitems. The problem is that i want to open the 'File' menu automatically when i press Alt+f key. I could capture the keyevents on the view. But how to open the File Menu of the MenuBar (what is the function that needs to be called from MenuBar Class to popup those sub menuitems) ?   • desktop shortcut icon not showing in web setup project

    i've created a web setup project and i wanted it to create a desktop shortcut to the web application (ex: http://localhost/xx/yy.aspx). up to this point it was pretty easy: i created a shortcut (doesnt matter where), gave it the url i wanted, added this to the User's Desktop special folder of my web setup project, and it was placed on the desktop after the installation. but then i wanted to display my custom shortcut icon. i set the icon of the shortcut i've created on my file system. then i re-included this to the setup project. however after the installation the shortcut kept showing the default IE icon again. (i tried these on windows 2003 server, on win xp the shortcut showed up iconless) after some trials i found another way: i recreated an iconless shortcut on my file system, opened my web setup project, included this shortcut and my icon to Web Application Folder under File System on Target Machine, then clicked on User's Desktop, right clicked on the right hand side blank area, selected Create New Shortcut and chose the shortcut i've just added. Then under User's Desktop i clicked on the newly created shortcut, opened the Properties window and set its Icon property to my included icon. These steps solved it all both on 2003 server and win xp. Though this wasnt really a question i wanted to share it anyways because it was quite annoying.

    Hey, I'm yesterday install free(I'm student :D) DevExpress Refactor Tool for Visual Studio and think that is great stuff but... how looks using that add-ons in work place ? can You install it on Your own in Your pc?Employer agree with it ? it is difference that it's free or paid add-on ? did Your employer give You add-in from start ? (So You don't need to paid it Yourself?:D) Do You have Favorite add-in? ;) p.s. Do You know how to disable VS shortcut[Alt+Right] for feature? I want to use Refactor shortcut for CamelCaseRight but VS disable it for own shortcut :(

  • Visual Studio 2010 shortcut to select word / expression / line / section / method?

    There is a shortcut Ctrl+Shift+W to select the entire word at the current cursor position. Is there a similar shortcut that keeps expanding the selected region every time I apply it? I mean, is there a shortcut which selects the word when applied once (same as Ctrl+Shift+W) and selects the entire line when applied twice in a row and selects the entire block when applied three times etc., i.e. keeps expanding the selected region step by step? I remember seeing such a shortcut, but I don't remember whether it was for Visual Studio or some other editor.

  • XCode: Delete line hot-key

    I'm looking for a way to map some hot-keys to "delete the line that my cursor is on" in Xcode. I found "delete to end of line" and "delete to beginning of line" in the text key bindings, but I am missing how to completely delete the line no matter what I have selected. TextMate has this functionality mapped to Ctrl+Shift+D and I'd like the same thing if possible. Any ideas?

  • What is the difference between moveBackward: and moveLeft: when using NSResponder -interpretKeyEvent

    I'm implementing a custom text box using -interpretKeyEvents: and am trying to figure out what the difference is between moveBackward: vs moveLeft: and moveForward: vs moveRight:. moveLeft: is bound to the left arrow and moveBackward: is bound to Ctrl + B. The documentation describes them almost identically and they seem to behave identically in practice. I'm assuming this is just a holdover from Vim? Does anyone know what the real difference is? Should moveBackward: just call my moveLeft: implementation? Thanks a lot, Nick

  • VS 2008 created shortcut doesn't show up in "Send To" menu

    I have a WinForms application built using Visual Studio 2008. I added a Setup Project to the solution to create an installation MSI file. I need the setup project to create a shortcut pointing to the application's executable in the users Send To Menu. This way when someone right clicks on a file, my application will show in the Send To list and be selected. I figured out under the file system settings of the Setup project how to add a shortcut to the Users Send To Menu. The problem is, the shortcut doesn't show in the Send To menu when you right click on a file. If I manually create a shortcut to my executable the application does show in the Send To menu. I have read many suggestions on the web to required registry entries for this to work. There is a VBS file written by Ramesh Srinivasan which inserts them. On every system I have tried this on the registry values already existed, so this is not the problem. It seems more to be with the shortcut Visual Studio (or the msi anyway) is creating.

    Hi, using INNO Setup I currently have the following entry under the [ICONS] section: Name: "{group}\My App\My App - Command Prompt"; Filename: "cmd.exe"; WorkingDir: "{app}" This shortcut launches a command prompt straight into my application's folder. Unfortunately it isn't launched as elevated which means the commands the user runs from there doesn't have appropriate rights. Using INNO Setup, how can I create a shortcut to CMD.exe (in a specific folder) that requires elevation? Doing this for other applications can be done via a manifest file. My question is, how do I use it using INNO, and if I can't, what are my alternatives?

    I recently upgraded to Visual Studio 2010 and found out that when i press Ctrl-Backspace on a empty line it will delete the line, which is what it did in 2008, but then it will also delete the last character on the line above. I have tried to see if there is any settings anywhere but i cant seem to find any. Does anyone know if you can change this or did they make it default in 2010 Im using C#, if that makes a difference.

Is this a bespoke thing they (and other companies) implement, or is it built into any APIs?     Visual Studio 2010 adds a zoom setting on the bottom left of the text editor (to the left of the horizontal scroll bar) and also adopts the control + mouse scroll idiom for zooming in and out. The former is fine, but I dislike the latter as I am occasionally still holding control when I start scrolling my source code (which results in the text size radically changing and completely throwing me off whatever I was doing). How do I disable it?
