  • Mass bulk add domains to web hosting service (possible?)

    I was wondering if anyone does bulk adding of domains to your web hosting provider (Amazon, Linode, Rackspace, etc). I am thinking of creating a product that allows user to host their site on top of my web hosting and want something that can allow me to bulk add domains (and point DNS to my web hosting DNS) with as little manual work as possible. I am thinking of getting a VPS to do this. Is this possible even? Thanks Scott

  • wcf generated classes and validation application block attributes

    Hi, I'm new to the validation application block and trying to use it with wcf... I have a wcf service that has data objects with validation rules defined with attributes, using the validation application block . On my client side (WPF), I have a service reference. When I update the service reference the generated classes do not have the validation rules attributes in them. How can I get the rules from the service? Am I missing some step, or is it not possible?

  • CORBA Naming Service returns incorrect location of a registered object

    Hi experts, I have a simple setup with several objects registered at orbd. Remote client initializes connection to the ORB and tries to resolve a reference to the Naming Serice (IDL:omg.org/CosNaming/NamingContextExt:1.0). So far it's all fine - ORB returns giop.iiop.host/giop.iiop.port pair. When reference to the Naming Service is resolved, client tries to resolve_str() one of the registered objects. This time, Naming Service returns completely different pair giop.iiop.host/giop.iiop.port for the object (not the host/port of a Naming Service) - I don't know anything about them. When client tries to call a method on a resolved object, it fails, as the host/port pair is not configured in the firewall. Could you please explain, why it's happening? Thanks in advance!

  • SQL efficiency argument, add a column or solvable by query?

    I am a recent college graduate and a new hire for software development. Things have been a little slow lately so I was given a db task. My db skills are limited to pet projects with Rails and Django. So, I was a little surprised with my latest task. I have been asked by my manager to subclass Person with a 'Parent' table and add a reference to their custodian in the Person table. This is to facilitate going from Parent to Form when the custodian, not the Parent, is the FormContact. Here is a simplified, mock structure of a sql-db I am working with. I would have drawn the relationship tables if I had access to Visio. We have a table 'Person' and we have a table 'Form'. There is a table, 'FormContact', that relates a Person to a Form, not all Persons are related to a Form. There is a relationship table for Person to Person relationships (Employer, Parent, etc.) I've asked, "Why this couldn't be handled by a query?" Response, Inefficient. (Really!?!) So, I ask, "Why not have a reference to the Form? That would be more efficient since you wouldn't be querying the FormContacts table with the reference from child/custodian." Response, this would essentially make the Parent is a FormContact. (Fair enough.) I went ahead an wrote a query to get from non-FormContact Parent to Form, and tested on the production server. The response time was instantaneous. *SOME_VALUE* is the Parent's fk ID. SELECT FormID FROM FormContact WHERE FormContact.ContactID IN (SELECT SourceContactID FROM ContactRelationship WHERE (ContactRelationship.RelatedContactID = *SOME_VALUE*) AND (ContactRelationship.Relationship = 'Parent')); If I am right, "This is an unnecessary change." What should I do, defend my position or should I concede to the managers request? If I am wrong. What is my error? Is there a better solution than the manager's?

  • Visual Studio Pre build events and batch set

    Hi, I'm trying to create call a batch file which sets a bunch of environment variables prior to building. The batch file looks something like this (it's automatically generated before-hand to detect ATI Stream SDK or NVidia CUDA toolkit): set OCL_LIBS_X86="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%libs\x86" set OCL_LIBS_X64="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%libs\x86_64" set OCL_INCLUDE="%ATISTREAMSDKROOT%include" However, the rest of the build doesn't seem to have access to these variables, so when I try to reference $(OCL_INCLUDE) in the C/C++GeneralAdditional include directories, it will first give me warning that environment variable $(OCL_INCLUDE) was not found, and when I try to include CL/cl.hpp the compile will fail with: fatal error C1083: Cannot open include file: 'CL/cl.hpp': No such file or directory I know that I could put these variables into the registry if I wanted to access them from the visual studio GUI, but I would really prefer not to do this. Is there a way to to get these environment variables to stick after the pre-build events? I can't reference $(ATISTREAMSDKROOT) directly because the project must be able to build for both ATI Stream and NVidia Cuda.

    I'm sure I've just missed which tutorial/manual page covers this, but how do you add get the guest OS to recognize that you've added new drives to it without a reboot? I have a RHEL5 guest running on ESX 4. I've added new virtual disks to the VM, but have not figured-out how to get the guest to recognize them without a reboot. Is this possible? If so, how?

    A nice feature in XSD is the IDREF restriction, e.g.: <xs:restriction base="xs:IDREF"> <xs:pattern value="[0-9a-zA-Z\-]+"/> </xs:restriction> I used this restriction with great benefit in a Java JAXWS-project. An object serialized in a SOAP XML datamodel can hold a reference (pointer) to another object in the same SOAP message. I want to try the same approach in a C# WCF-project, can it be done? On the web site Data Contract Schema Reference I can see e.g. Id ignored, Ref forbidden, but I am not sure whether I understand what that means.

    I'm trying to run shutdown.exe -l -t 10 only showed shutdown help manual. I thought of inelegant but working solution of ping -n 10 localhost shutdown.exe -l How wasteful is this solution? I thought of downloading sleep.exe, but I want my bat file to work on a machine with no previous preparations. Any more ideas? Thanks

  • Microsoft Word Image Flattening?

    I'm trying to find a way to flatten images in a MS Word 2007 document. I want the images that have text/labels placed/layered on top of them to be merged into a single image. Are there any tools or AddIns for Word that can do this? With a 100+ page document I'm trying to avoid a manual process... I can't believe Word doesn't have a feature or option hidden somewhere that can do this out of the box.

  • Haskell: What is the difference between $ (dollar) and $! (dollar exclamation point)

    Can anybody explain the difference in Haskell between the operators ($) and ($!) (dollar sign vs dollar sign exclamation point)? I haven't seen the use of $! anywhere so far, but while browsing through the Haskell reference on www.zvon.org, I noticed its existence and that it has the exact same definition as $. When trying some simple statements in a Haskell interpreter (ghci), I couldn't find any difference, nor could I find any reference to the operator in the top listed tutorials when googling for haskell tutorial. So, just out of curiosity, what is the difference, if at all?

  • WCF reuse types in referenced assemblies does not reuse the ServiceContract Interface

    I have three seperate projects: -MyUserControl (Needs a reference to a service implementing IMyService) -MyService (Implements IMyService) -MySharedInterfaces (IMyUserControl and IMyService) -MyWebApp The user control needs to be dynamically loaded at runtime. This implements IMyUserControl and has a property of type IMyService which will be set at runtime. The trouble is even with the option to reuse types the WebApp isn't reusing the IMyServiceType, it always generates it again from the Service Reference. This wouldn't be an issue if I could cast it to MySharedInterfaces.IMyService (which I can't understand, since it should be exactly the same). The user control is expecting something of type IMyService, is there anyway to either cast the WebServiceReference.IMyService back to MySharedInterface.IMyServiceReference or force the WebServiceReference to reuse the MySharedInterface.IMyServiceReference?     Hi, We use the asp.net UpdatePanel and the ScriptManager/ScriptManagerProxy for ajax related functionality; reducing full page refreshes and calling WCF Services respectively. we also use jQuery and plugins for some parts of the UI. We have had some issues with javascript library related conflicts, but have come across some posts indicating that there is a lot more overhead using the UpdatePanel. I have found some limited reference to UFrame: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/aspnet/uframe.aspx www.codeplex.com/uframe Is this a commercially viable replacement for the asp.net UpdatePanel? We use a ScriptManagerProxy to reference WCF services and easily create and use a proxy to call the various WCF service methods. Would using jQuery ajax be a more efficient solution here? We have got this working well on various browsers but now seem to be getting some security related issues (as seen in FF Firebug: Access to restricted URI denied" code: "1012) which seem to have started since using jQuery a lot more. Is it possible/viable to not use ASP.NET Ajax at all?

    I have been using a MacOSX system for a while, but just only recently started poking into the guts. I found a guide telling me to run 'sudo ranlib /usr/local/lib/libjpeg.a'(installing libjpeg). I have read the ranlib manual, and tried looking online on it. I simply don't understand. What resources do I need to look up to learn more, or can someone give a concise explanation on its use?   • Optiplex can't find SATA III Controller

    I just purchased a HighPoint Rocket 620 Storage controller- Serial ATA-600- 600 MBps (OEM version) and a OWC SSD: For some reason, my Dell Optiplex 755 bios sees this card as a storage device installed in the x1 PCI Express slot, but I can't get it to boot from it. In fact, I don't even see the boot screen as mentioned by the manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated. FYI, I tried every imaginable BIOS setting, including using legacy mode instead of AHCI.

  • Swapping UIImages causing 'unrecognized selector sent to instance' ?

    Error: [__NSCFDate drawAtPoint:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0xd251e0 Termininating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException' Scenario: for the most part this works. But I notice this error, even on the simulator, when I swapping UIImages, slowly, but consistently. For example, I have a retained reference to a UIImage that im drawing. By the click of a picker control I am changing the face image (this occurs in another view-controller). I can consistently recreate this error by continuously changing the faces. It usually crashes at about the 4th swap or more. My theory: It's not loading the image, therefore the image reference is nil. I know ive read a bit about UIImage being cached, so I wouldnt think im running out of memory. Any ideas? Thanks!

    I am saving a reference to an RSS Feed in MongoDB, each Feed has an ever growing list of Entries. As I'm designing my schema, I'm concerned about this statement from the MongoDB Schema Design - Embed vs. Reference Documentation: If the amount of data to embed is huge (many megabytes), you may read the limit on size of a single object. This will surely happen if I understand the statement correctly. So the question is, I am correct to assume that I should not embed the Feed Entries within a Feed because I'll eventually reach the limit on size of a single object?

    Okay, here is my problem... I created a Data Layer using the RTM Fluent Nhibernate. My create session code looks like this: _session = Fluently.Configure(). Database(SQLiteConfiguration.Standard.UsingFile("Data.s3db")) .Mappings( m => { m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductMap>(); m.FluentMappings.AddFromAssemblyOf<ProductLogMap>(); }) .ExposeConfiguration(BuildSchema) .BuildSessionFactory(); When I reference the module in a test project, then create a test fixture that looks something like this: [Test] public void CanAddProduct() { var product = new Product {Code = "9", Name = "Test 9"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); using (ISession session = OrmHelper.OpenSession()) { var fromDb = session.Get<Product>(product.Id); Assert.IsNotNull(fromDb); Assert.AreNotSame(fromDb, product); Assert.AreEqual(fromDb.Id, product.Id); } My tests pass. When I open up the created SQLite DB, the new Product with Code 9 is in it. the tables for Product and ProductLog are there. Now, when I create a new console application, and reference the same library, do something like this: Product product = new Product() {Code = "10", Name = "Hello"}; IProductRepository repository = new ProductRepository(); repository.AddProduct(product); Console.WriteLine(product.Id); Console.ReadLine(); It doesn't work. I actually get pretty nasty exception chain. To save you lots of head aches, here is the summary: Top Level exception: An invalid or incomplete configuration was used while creating a SessionFactory. Check PotentialReasons collection, and InnerException for more detail.\r\n\r\n The PotentialReasons collection is empty The Inner exception: The IDbCommand and IDbConnection implementation in the assembly System.Data.SQLite could not be found. If the assembly is in the GAC, use element in the application configuration file to specify the full name of the assembly. Both the unit test library and the console application reference the exact same version of System.Data.SQLite. Both projects have the exact same DLLs in the debug folder. I even tried copying SQLite DB the unit test library created into the debug directory of the console app, and removed the build schema lines and it still fails If anyone can help me figure out why this won't work outside of my unit tests it would be greatly appreciated. This crazy bug has me at a stand still.

  • NuGet - managing and removing mutil version packages in single solution

    SCENARIO One VS solution with n projects. Project A references package Y v1, Project B references package Y v2. It is now not possible to update all references to package Y for all projects in the solution using the NuGet package manage dialog at the solution level, it is only possible to do this when all projects reference the same version of package Y. Not a big deal for only two projects, but I'm dealing with lots of projects that through poor package management are referencing many package versions when they should all reference the same version. Before I spend the afternoon writing a console app. to auto update all package.config files for a solution so that each referenced package is only referenced via it's latest version (latest referenced, not the very latest, with exceptions/caveats etc)....is there a tool/method for doing this already? Or some other approach I am unaware of?

    Square brackets allow you to use names for columns or aliases that contain characters not permitted for column names or aliases. a) I’ve noticed that lots of times table and column names are enclosed inside square brackets, even though their names consist of perfectly legal characters. Why is that? b) As far as I know, square brackets enclosing object’s name aren’t actually a part of that name. Thus, if we create a table named [A]: CREATE TABLE [A] ( … ) we can later reference it without using brackets: SELECT * FROM A But why isn’t the same true when I try to reference a column KEY from a table returned by CONTAINSTABLE function? Namely, if I omit the brackets enclosing column name, I get an error: SELECT ct.KEY FROM CONTAINSTABLE(fullText,*,'some_string') as ct thanx
