I know there are a lot of API for the web, but I was wondering what the best solution is for a desktop application.     I'm currently looking at Bugzilla and Trac, as they seem to be the most popular (and I'm hoping that also means if there are any problems, it will be easier to get help), but I'm curious what solutions you use or have used and what your thoughts are. I'm currently leaning toward Trac, as it's Wiki functionality can be used to support documentation. But that might not be a good enough reason to jump on Trac.

  • NUNIT + VS2010 = Unable to copy file from /obj to /bin...being used by another process

    I am trying to run some unit tests using NUnit while I have the project open, and VS 2010 cannot rebuild the project while the assembly is loaded in NUnit. I have looked around and haven't found any solutions that seen to fix it. I can close NUnit, then the project builds fine. This is a the same solution based on Rob Conery's BDD demo found here: http://tekpub.com/view/concepts/5 Any thoughts?

  • Given n report thumbnails, how do I create a Flex Effect that zooms into the selected report?

    I am worried about performance issues. If I just render all n reports zoomed out, then that will cost me in performance. Even animating a zoomed out report to zoom in, will also cost me in performance because it has to recalculate all the UIComponent's of my report as it transitions from zoomed out to zoomed in-to view. Any solutions/suggestions welcome. Let me know if you need clarification.

Right now I have a batch script that runs, but I have to manually add a database each and every time, and I'm sick of maintaining it. So I want to set it up to backup all MS SQL and then all MySQL, I dont care if its two different solutions, just want the ability to backup all the databases without having to type them in.     I need to execute a file when I only know the descriptor. It is also possible that there are no links to the file so finding out the name somehow is not an option. All the execve(), execvp(), etc functions take a file name. dlopen() also takes a name. Ugly solutions (like reading the file and calling some function pointer) are OK.

But now I've exported my project to an executable jar file and callig shell commands doesn't work any more.     I want to my make a search-statement and query things like this select * from table where col like '%vkvk%' But with trial and error I've come to the conclusion that access doesn't work with LIKE or wildcard operators.     I have a default.aspx page that needs to be refresh every 10 sec. My solution so far is a javascript function, but it only works in firefux and not IE. I'm looking for a way to handle the refresh mecanism in the default.aspx.cs page instead, with some sort of Timer. Any good simple sugestions/hints or solutions out there that can lead me in the right direction?

    Hi all, I'm studying how to use caching in Heroku for my Rails app. HTTP cache powered by Varnish is superb and I'll use it in all pages without user info but I also want to use a kind of ActiveRecord caching with Memcached using "high livel" plugins such as cache_fu or cache-money...but it seems that Heroku supports only the memcached gem (http://docs.heroku.com/memcache) and it's a very low level Memcachad API... Do you have any other solutions? Thx.

    The Devise authentication framework uses flash notices everywhere. This makes it easy to integrate with apps but it leads to poor user experience sometimes. I am wondering what's an easy way to selectively turn off some of the Devise flash notices in my Rails 3 app. In particular, I'd like to get rid of the blatantly obvious signed_in and signed_out flashes. Some searching suggested subclassing the session controller or use something like this but I haven't been able to find any simple solutions to this problem.
