typeid , dynamic casting (upcast) and templates

Hello, I have few questions regarding dynamic casting , typeid() and templates 1) How come typeid does not require RTTI ? 2) dynamic_cast on polymorphic type: When I do downcast (Base to Derive) with RTTI - compilation passes When RTTI is off - I get a warning (warning C4541: 'dynamic_cast' used on polymorphic type 'CBase' with /GR-; unpredictable behavior may result) When I do upcast (Derive to Base), with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly What I don't understand is why when I do upcast and RTTI is off - I don't get any warning/error! 3) dynamic_cast on NON polymorphic type: When I do downcast with or without RTTI - compilation fails (error C2683: 'dynamic_cast' : 'CBase' is not a polymorphic type) BUT When I do upcast with or without RTTI - compilation passes smoothly. How come on upcast on NON polymorphic type passes w/o RTTI ? 4) Does 'inline' in front of a template function has any effect, i.e. when the compiler compiles the function and see it is 'inline' it will actually treat the function as inline or it is ignored? Best emailing approach with template emails

Hi all, We are creating a project with lots of different mail templates in it. There are different messages for different purposes and we are trying to make the coding easy and understandable for the future. By the way we have different transport classes like e-mail, sms, twitter vs... Now we are doing this but I dont know if there is a better solution. We have a class called H2B_Message_Container_Mail_About_Blablabla it has 4 methods; interface H2B_Message_Mail_Interface { public function setName($name); public function setValue($key, $value); public function getMailBody(); public function getMailSubject(); } and in the mail body there are various variables as expected. before we send the mail, we get the variable values from the database with JSON format and decode it. Then we send it like; $mail = new H2B_Message_Mail(); $mail->setTemplate($newTemplate); $mail->send(); The question is; is there a better way to do this ?

Drupal Override Custom Menu Template

Hi Guys, I created a custom menu called "sub-top-nav" and now I'd like to override the html output. In particular I would like to add an unique class to each item like. Wrapping WPF UserControl inside VisualStudio Item Template

I am currently started working on a project which will allow users to design reports inside visual studio. Previously, for my similar Winforms App, I had extended the IComponent (Component Class) and wrote our VS Like designer kind of custom control which will allow users to drag drop controls from the visual studio toolbox and then I export it as a VisualStudio C#&VB ItemTemplate. Now I am trying to recreate the same control using WPF considering its power, extensiblity. Could anyone shed some lights on this, on what would be the most preferable way of doing this ? Domain policy template won't show any controls

Creating VSTO Excel Template fails

I have been trying for ages in all sorts of ways (short of ritual incantations and sacrifices) to get Visual Studio Team Edition 2008 to allow me to create Office 2003 solutions, whether those be templates or documents. No matter what I try, I'm always presented with an error which basically says "You've got the wrong version of Office installed. Try installing something compatible". I have the complete installation of Office 2003 Pro installed along with the Office 2003 Primary Interop Assemblies (which I put on after I installed Office) and then VS2008TE as already mentioned. There has to be some reason why this refuses to work, but I'm out of ideas. Help appreciated.

Selecting a UserControl from XAML

I'm working on a problem right now where I need to embed a UserControl inside another UserControl. But, I need to determine at runtime which embedded UserControl to instantiate. This implies to me that some form of data binding and/or template selection mechanism has to be invoked, but I'm not sure how to proceed with the pure XAML approach. If I was to do this with code, I would define some sort of container control in the parent UserControl, and then in the code-behind, implement some logic which would instantiate the appropriate child UserControl and then insert it as Content into the specified container in the parent UserControl. Can this be done using only XAML, or is some sort of code-behind required?

Django template not loading properly

Hey, When this one runs everything goes fine: (r"^newobject$", "views.myobjects.newobject"), All the CSS + JS files are properly fetched from: static/css/... static/js/... When this one runs: (r"^mybjects/(([a-z]|[A-Z]|[0-9])+)$","views.myobjects.loadobject"), All the css and JS files that are being fetched, are run trough the urlpatterns and are returning my defailt page: (r"", 'views.main.index'), This makes all my CSS and JS code to actualy be HTML. My guess is that i'm giving some noob mistake. Is there any common reason why this should happen? And how to fix it?

Umbraco template issues

Hi fellow Umbraco users, I'm currently building my first umbraco website and since I'm completely new to umbraco I've already ran into a problem which I'm sure is pretty straight-forward to do. That said, I'm by no means a beginner when it comes to building sites that run on a (open source) CMS as I've been using Joomla! since it was called Mambo. Anyway, the site I'm building is here: my site What I want to do is to have some content in the white box that changes when you mouseover/hover one of the menu items. Also that content has to stay "active" when you've clicked on a link (i.e. if you click on "Profile" I need to highlight the Profile menu item with the gray color and the white boxs content needs to be what would be related to the Profile menu item. How do I go about this? What would be the best practice when it comes to showing multiple content on a site? I've watched the video about multiple Content Place Holders, but I never really got it to work. I can't get a page to display in the NavigationPlaceHolder (the placeholder I put in the white box), but thats because the actual page is Frontpage.aspx and not WhateverIsInThenavigationPlaceHolder.aspx. If I go to the mysite.dk/WhateverIsInTheNavigationPlaceHolder.aspx it shows up fine. What have I missed here? :) Thanks in advance! Freemarker - lack of special character in email subject template cause email content crash

im fighting with strange error. Im using seperate freemarker templates for mail subject and body. It is sent using org.springframework.mail.javamail.JavaMailSender. Only templates that contains some special swedish character works in my application ( yes you read right... not the other way). If I delete it my email content crashes. It contains then: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/html;charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit .. html code here .. My freemarker.properties file locale=sv_SE classic_compatible=false number_format= date_format=yyyy-MM-dd time_format=HH:mm datetime_format=yyyy-MM-dd HH:mm output_encoding=UTF-8 url_escaping_charset=UTF-8 auto_import=spring.ftl as spring auto_include= default_encoding=UTF-8 localized_lookup=true strict_syntax=true whitespace_stripping=true template_update_delay=10 Ive tried to convert subject file with dos2unix tool. Using 'find -bi subject.ftl' show that encoding is us-ascii. With added special character - utf-8. This thing is suprisingly strange for me... //SOLUTION: use :set bomb and save file in vim.

How do I find out what process Id and thread id / name has a file open

Hi All, I am using C# in an application and am having some problems with a file becoming locked. The piece of code does this, while (true) { Read a packet from a socket (with data in it to add to the file) Open a file Writes data to it Close a file } But in the process the file becomes locked. I don't really understand how, we are are definately catching and reporting exceptions so I don't see how the file doesn't get closed every time. My best guess is that something else is opening the file, but I want to prove it. Can someone please provide a piece of code to check whether the file is open and if so report what processid and threadid has the file open. For example if I had this code, StreamWriter streamWriter1 = new StreamWriter(@"c:\logs\test.txt"); streamWriter1.WriteLine("Test"); // code to check for locks?? StreamWriter streamWriter2 = new StreamWriter(@"c:\logs\test.txt"); streamWriter1.Close(); streamWriter2.Close(); That will throw an exception because the file is locked when we try and open it the second time. So where the comment is what could I put in there to report that the current app (process Id) and the current thread (thread Id) have the file locked? Thanks.

I have just installed Visual Studio 2010. when I attempt to create a new project in c#, there is no option for a WPF application. There is for Visual Basic. The WPFApplicaton.zip flie does exist in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Windows\1033 What could be wrong here?

I am trying to use Intellij's file templates (not live templates) to help mitigate how much boilerplate code I use when making Services, daos, and their interfaces. I am able to use all the system defined variables just fine, such as ${PACKAGE_NAME} What I want though, is to be able to use my own variable names, like ${MY_USER_INPUT} however, when i do this like above, I get an error The documentation says : It is also possible to specify arbitrary number of custom variables in format ${<VARIABLE_NAME>}. and then Intellij is supposed to prompt the user for the value. However, this just plain doesn't work for me. What am I missing?

Django template not loading javascript and css properly due to urlpatterns

Hey, When this one runs everything goes fine: (r"^newobject$", "views.myobjects.newobject"), All the CSS + JS files are properly fetched from: static/css/... static/js/... When this one runs: (r"^mybjects/(([a-z]|[A-Z]|[0-9])+)$","views.myobjects.loadobject"), All the css and JS files that are being fetched, are run trough the urlpatterns and are returning my defailt page: (r"", 'views.main.index'), This makes all my CSS and JS code to actualy be HTML. My guess is that i'm giving some noob mistake. Is there any common reason why this should happen? And how to fix it?

So I tried to declare lb as var like @defining((Json.parse(value), ("GGGGGG"))) {case (json:JsValue, lb:var)=> @{lb=json\\"myTestField"} } but getting the error identifier expected but 'var' found How can I assign to variable lb?

Wordpress Template get_the_tags() help

Hi Guys, I am using this code to get the tags in my wordpress posts for a theme `<?php $posttags = get_the_tags(); if ($posttags) { foreach ($posttags as $tag) { $tagnames[count($tagnames)] = $tag->name; } $comma_separated_tagnames = implode(", ", $tagnames); print_r($comma_separated_tagnames); } ?>` The PROBLEM is that it is returning tags for "all posts" not just individual posts, and I think the problem is that if a post DOESNT have tags - it just inserts tags anyway. Can anyone help modify this so: It return tags only for a post - not all tags If there are no tags for a post, dont return anything ? Really appreciate any help P.S - Can check out here for the wordpress docs

I need the html returned using render_to_response to be escaped. I am unable to find any suitable documentation. Can someone point in some direction ? the code is : return render_to_response(template_name, {return render_to_response(template_name, { 'form': form, redirect_field_name: redirect_to, 'site': current_site, 'site_name': current_site.name, }, context_instance=RequestContext(request)) Here I need the response html text to be escaped. I way I know is reading template file in string and escaping it with re.escape() and then rendering it. whats a cleaner and simpler way to do that ??

Alternative for PHPlivedocx?

Hello, Is there any other free alternatives to PHPliveDocx? I would like to create a Word document based on templates and user inputted data. The template will resides on the server and the client(online or c# windows application) will be used to collect user input. Once data has been collected, server-side script(PHP) will be used to generate a Word document. So far I have only found phplivedocx. However I'm not very comfortable at consuming web services from a server that I have no control over with (am I worrying too much?). I have also thought about using client to do the work (c# windows application, Open Office XML). But I'm not sure that's the right way of doing things. Any guidance/help will be really appreciated! Thanks!

With googling I've found Freemaker, Velocity and Tiles which seem to be very famous. Does someone of you has some further experiences with some of these and can give me a short brief about it. I already have a theme for my website, so I want to read about best-practices.
