  • Emacs auto-minor-mode based on extension

    I found this question somewhat on the topic, but is there a way [in emacs] to set a minor mode (or a list thereof) based on extension? For example, it's pretty easy to find out that major modes can be manipulated like so (setq auto-mode-alist (cons '("\\.notes$" . text-mode) auto-mode-alist)) and what I'd ideally like to be able to do is (setq auto-minor-mode-alist (cons '("\\.notes$" . auto-fill-mode) auto-minor-mode-alist)) The accept answer of the linked question mentions hooks, specifically temp-buffer-setup-hook. To use this, you have to add a function to the hook like so (add-hook 'temp-buffer-setup-hook 'my-func-to-set-minor-mode) My question is two-fold: Is there an easier way to do this, similar to major modes? If not, how would one write the function for the hook? It needs to check the file path against a regular expression. If it matches, activate the desired mode (e.g. auto-fill-mode).

  • MVC Helper Extension issue

    Hi, I need to implement a HtmlHelper extension in my MVC project simply just to output some string but ONLY in the DEBUG mode, not in REALEASE. My first attempt would be: [Conditional("DEBUG")] public static string TestStringForDebugOnly(this HtmlHelper helper, string testString) { return testString; } But obviously that would give a compile error: "The Conditional attribute is not valid because its return type is not void." So my understanding is once you set [Condition] attribute, it doesnt allow to return anything? why? What is other way to implement this kind of function? anyone help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

  • Downloading image from server without file extension (NSData to UIImage)

    From my server I'm pulling down a url that is supposed to simply be a profile image. The relevant code for pulling down the image from the urls is this: NSString *urlString = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@%@",kBaseURL,profile_image_url]; profilePic = [UIImage imageWithData:[NSData dataWithContentsOfURL:[NSURL URLWithString:urlString]]]; My url is in the format (note no file extension on the end since its dynamically rendered) localhost:8000/people/1/profile_image If I load the url in my browser the image displays; however the code above for pulling down the UIImage does not work. I've verified that the code does pull an image from a random site on the interwebs. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

  • Why i disconnect every few seconds? using USB wireless adapter

    i know it's for ubuntu questions..but mint and ubuntu are very similiar and i had the same problem with linux ubuntu too..so i think this is the right place for my question anyway i don't have experience with drivers and other things,after installing Linux on my machine( i did dist-upgrade btw) everything seem to be great because i didn't have to install any driver, after a while i realized that my connection stop after few minutes(actually it shows that I'm connected but it's not) so i have to reconnect and after few minutes it disconnect again. I'm using Alfa USB wireless adapter AWS036H, and my Linux version is 11 i think the driver i'm using is Realtek i searched in the Internet and i found nothing. these are some outputs of few things     I'm new to Ubuntu, and I'm trying to get my Belkin USB adapter to work. There are plenty of discussions out there already about this, but none really helped me out. Here's what I've done - Installed ndiswrapper Installed ndisgtk Installed the driver (rt2870.inf) via ndisgtk ndisgtk reported that the driver was installed and the hardware was present. The green light on the adapter is solid green, which I assume means that Ubuntu is aware of it's presence. However, when I click the little wireless symbol at the navigation bar, there's no option to choose my adapter (assuming that it's supposed to show up there...)     all! I've been banging my head against a wall with this issue for a few days now and am hoping someone can help out. I recently signed up for T-Mobile's webConnect 3G/4G service to replace the faltering (and slow) DSL connection in my apartment. The goal was to put the SIM in one of my old phones and use its built-in WLAN tethering feature to share Internet out to rest of my computers. I quickly found out that webConnect-provisioned SIMs do not work with regular smartphones, so I was forced to either buy a 4G-compatible router or tether one of my old laptops to my wireless router and share out that way. I chose the latter, and it's sharpening my inner masochistic self by the day. Here's the setup: GSM USB modem (via hub), ICS host - 10/100 Mbps Ethernet NIC, ICS "guest" - WAN port of my SMC WGBR14N wireless router in bridged mode (i.e. wireless access point). Ideally, this would make my laptop the DHCP server and internet gateway with the WAP giving everyone wireless coverage. I can browse internet on the host laptop fine. However, when clients try to connect, they get a DHCP-assigned IP from the laptop and are able to use the Internet for a few minutes before completely dying. After that happens, they are able to re-associate with the WAP and get IP addresses, but are unable to use Internet or resolve IP addresses until the laptop and router are restarted. If they do get access, it's very, very slow. After running Wireshark on the host machine, it turns out that this is because every TCP connection keeps getting RST. DNS seems to work. I would normally think the firewall is the culprit here, but when it drops packets, it drops them completely. The fact that TCP connections are being ACK'ed by the destination rules that out. Of course, none of the event Log isn't saying anything about what's going on. I also tried disabling power management on the NIC, since that's caused problems in the past; that didn't help either. I finally disabled receive-side scaling as per a Microsoft KB (that applied to Windows Server 2003, SP2) to no avail. I'm thinking of trying it with a different NIC (will be tough; don't have a spare Ethernet NIC around for the laptop), but I'm getting the impression that this simply doesn't work. What I thought I might do is create an extension method which would do the whole block for me and all i'd need to pass in is the model property and the enumeration.   • Problem using custom HttpHandler to process requests for both .aspx and non-extension pages in IIS7

    I am trying to process both ".aspx" and non-extension page requests (i.e. both contact.aspx and /contact/) using a custom HttpHandler in IIS7. My handler works just fine in either one case or the other, but as soon as I try to process both cases, it only works for one. Please see Handlers snippet from my web.config below: If i keep only mapping to "*.aspx" then all .aspx requests are processed correctly, but obviously extensionless requests won't work: <add name="AllPages.ASPX" path="*.aspx" verb="*" type="Test.PageHandlerFactory, Test" preCondition="" /> If i change the mapping to "*" then all extensionless requests are processed correctly, but ".aspx" requests that should still be handled by this handler stop working. Note that i added the StaticFiles entry in order to process files that are on disk like images, css, js, etc. <add name="WebResource" path="WebResource.axd" verb="GET" type="System.Web.Handlers.AssemblyResourceLoader" /> <add name="StaticFiles" verb="GET,HEAD" path="*.*" type="System.Web.StaticFileHandler" resourceType="File" /> <add name="AllPages" path="*" verb="*" type="Test.PageHandlerFactory, Test" preCondition="" /> The crazy thing is that when i load an ".aspx" request (with the 2nd configuration shown) IIS7 gives a 404 not found error. The error also says that the request is processed by the StaticFiles handler. But I made sure to add resourceType="File" to the StaticFileHandler in order to avoid this. According to MS this means the request is only for "physical files on disk". Am i misreading/interpreting the "on disk" part? My .aspx file isn't on disk, that's why i want to use the handler in the first place.

Now I am trying to force the refresh of this SurfaceView after setting the stretch flag so that the video gets stretched while it is playing, but I couldn't figure out how to force a refresh on SurfaceView. I tried android.view.View.invalidate(), android.view.View.refreshDrawableState() and calling android.view.View.measure(int, int) directly with different combinations but did not get any success. Any ideas?

    I am trying to create a an function that formats US phone numbers -- hopefully without looping through each digit. When 10 digits are passed in all is fine. How ever when more than 10 digits are passed in I want the String.Format method to append the extension digits on the right. I'm trying to populate a form inside an iframe that I dynamically inject into a page. My problem is getting the document or window objects for that iframe. I've tried all of the following: myObject.iframe.window myObject.iframe.document myObject.iframe.content but these are all undefined. I also tried passing the event object to that iframe's load event listener and then doing: event.originalTarget But that didn't work either. If I open multiple windows, it ignores the additional windows. I think it is creating a server socket for each window, but since they are using the same port, the additional sockets fail to initialize. I need it to create a server socket when the browser launches and continue running when I close the windows (Mac OS X). As it is, when I close a window but Firefox remains running, the socket closes and I have to restart firefox to get it up an running. How do I go about that?

    I have this DVB+Analog usb tv tuner Hauppauge WinTV HVR-900 (r2) [USB ID 2040:6502]. This used to work under ubuntu 10.04 LTS. But in 12.04 there seems to be a problem. I have linux-firmware-nonfree and ivtv-utils installed. I am running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64 bit with all updates installed and the default unity environment. When I run mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video1:input=1:norm=PAL I get a solid green screen and no picture. Here input 1 is the composite input of the card.     I'm currently building my first Firefox extension, and am having a little difficulty with one piece of functionality. I'd like to open a new browser tab in response to a button click on the toolbar. The new tab should contain the contents of a webpage, together with some extra buttons.
