Parameter name: ticks There is no reference file/line/column in the error. Becoming quite frustrating as the solution builds in the end, however I cannot debug.     I have visual studio 2008 installed in my pc when I try to open a .Net 2005 Solution with multi-projects, there are project in vb and c#. The only web project on this solution display the following message: .vbproj the project is not supported by this installation I try to open the web project separately from the solution and I not have problem. How I can open the web project from the solution existing solution and not open a empty solution? Any ideas?

  • Embed resource in .NET Assembly without assembly prefix?

    Hi all, When you embed a reosurce into a .NET assembly using Visual Studio, it is prefixed with the assembly name. However, assemblies can have embedded resources that are not assembly-name-prefixed. The only way I can see to do this is to disassemble the assembly using ildasm, then re-assemble it, adding the new resource -- which works, but... do I really need to finish that sentence? I now want to add this to source contol and I am being given the option to either 'Add solution to source control...' or 'Add web site to source control...'.     Hi, I'm currently working on a project using DSL tools in Visual Studio 2008. Is there a way to automatically add a resource into the solution explorer of the experimental hive at runtime? I'm creating new diagrams based on what is on screen, and saving them into the directory the project is stored in. I would like to know if there is a way to get them to automatically get added to the solution explorer? (I don't want to have to drag the files in manually each time)

  • Debugging in visual studio 2008 freezes entire system

    Any time i try to debug in visual studio 2008 my entire system will freeze whenever a breakpoint is hit. I can move the mouse around and that remains responsive but nothing i click on does anything, I can bring up the task manager but can't do anything with it and i am able to lock/unlock the machine. I tried a fix that i found via google that suggested i disable advanced text services but it didn't work. I am using visual studio 2008 with SP1 running on Windows XP Pro, asking here is my last hope before formating/reinstalling so i hope someone can help me out. I debug by running the application in debug mode, the freeze happens no matter what the project size and it seems as if it is just the entire GUI that freezes, the computer carries on working just fine i just can't do anything with it because the GUI is totaly unresponsive.

  • Application built using VS2010 does not work in VS-Express2008 - C

    Hello, I have wrote an application that consists of two projects in a solution, each project contains only 1 .c source file. I was using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate but due to the University only supporting 2008 I decided to create a blank solution and copy the source files into the new one. After creating a new solution in VS2008 express, creating two projects and re-creating and adding the source files to the projects I ran the application. For some reason only one part of the application does not work, I use CreateProcess() to execute "Project1.exe" from Project 2. This works fine under vs2010 but for some reason it's not working under VS2008 express, GetLastError() is showing an Error 2: File Not Found. This is an image showing the same code in both IDE's: I'm not using anything special and I've made sure that both solutions/projects are using .Net 3.5. I can't work out why it would work for one IDE and not the other. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Is there a Registry setting that I can look for to determine whether or not the Visual C++ redistributable is installed, whether standalone or as part of Visual Studio 2008? I know that I could launch the VC++ 2008 redistributable installer and let it handle the detection, but it would look cleaner if I can check for it and not bother launching the installer if the redistributable is already on the system. It's no biggie if there is no setting to search for, as this is just for the preliminary installers that we have for the new version of our software. We won't need it for the new Windows Installer-based installers that we are working on that will replace the old tech ones and will use the merge modules.

    I often use VS 2008 to debug a .NET C# component of an application. Sometimes, I want to quit debugging and continue running the application. Stop Debugging kills the process I was debugging. How can I achieve my aim? This is not a web app, it's a local process that runs managed and unmanaged code. I don't see any "Detach" or "Detach All" option in the Debug menu (is it enabled in some option?).

  • Getting Assert to work in Visual C++ Unit Tests?

    I'm using Visual Studio 2008's built in testing framework in my Visual C++ project. I'm adding a new Test Project, then a new Unit Test. However, I can't use any of the functions provided by Assert. Assert shows up in the Intellisense, but I can't do anything with it. I've done unit tests fine in Visual C#. Am I forgetting to do anything? EDIT: There isn't much code because everything I'm doing is auto-generated by Visual Studio 2008. Here are the steps I'm doing: File - New Project - Visual C++ - General - Empty Project Right click solution in Solution Explorer - Add - New Project... Visual C++ - Test - Test Project Open UnitTest1.cpp (auto-generated) Go to TestMethod1() From here, when I try to use the Assert class (like Assert.AreEqual), I can't do it. If I do the same in a Visual C# project, it works fine.

    In Visual studio 2008 is it possible to have a resource file that is included as a separate file after compilation rather than as an embedded resource. This is to enable small changes to be rolled out more easily. I have tried build options of Resource, None, Compile and also copy local on and off for most of these. However when ever I try access the resource at run time I get a cannot find resource exception. Is this actually possible or am I wasting my time?
