  • Outlook 2007 - Cannot start Outlook - Cannot open the Outlook window.

    I went to open Outlook 2007 on my Windows 7 32bit machine and it came up with this error: Cannot start Microsoft Office Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. The information store could not be opened. I have deleted and created a new profile in Control Panel Mail but it still doesn't want to work properly but it still comes up with this message. Thanks in advance.

  • Postfix configuration w.r.t. port 25

    After a considerable amount of research, I have configured my postfix server to use dovecot to accept SMTPS connections over port 465 and everything works swimmingly. Unfortunately, I forgot that, unless I listen to port 25, I'm not going to receive any e-mail from the net. I'm hoping somebody knows off the top of their head how to open up port 25 on Postfix for anonymous users, but disallow relaying and any other bad things on that port. And to leave the port 465 the way it is. As to my current configuration, I changed the master.cf file: smtps inet n - n - - smtpd and the main.cf file: # Use our SSL certificates smtpd_tls_cert_file = .....cer smtpd_tls_key_file = .....key smtpd_tls_security_level = may # Use Dovecot for SASL authentication smtpd_sasl_auth_enable = yes smtpd_sasl_security_options = noanonymous smtpd_sasl_type = dovecot smtpd_sasl_path = private/auth broken_sasl_auth_clients = yes smtpd_recipient_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated, reject_unauth_destination Any help is appreciated!

  • How to extract 4th line from 300 text files?

    I have about 300 emails (gmail) that go like this: Dear [name] Order ID:123456789 Purchased by: [name I need] (blah blah another 26 lines of crap (total of 30 lines)) What I need help is how to save gmail's mails locally into .txt and how to export 4th line from each text file. I can easily run Replace 'Purchased by: ' to remove that and keep only the names from that line in a list, but other than that I have no clue Any ideas?

  • Outlook 2003: How to display my own messages in conversation view?

    When I select View-Arrange By-Conversation in Outlook 2003, the messages I sent myself are not shown in the message threads (unlike the conversation view in say, Gmail). To show my own messages I have to go to the Sent Items folder, if not someone has replied to one of my messages and included my original text. Is there a way to make my own messages visible in the conversation threads? Thank you! /Filip

  • authenticating to exchange 2010 smarthost?

    I have a postfix mail server that should relay all outgoing mail to an Exchange 2010 server (the Exchange box is my smarthost). I have administrator access to the Exchange 2010 system, but I'm not very familiar with it. How should I set up authentication on the Exchange 2010 system? I guess I could add a standard user with a mailbox on the Exchange box, then configure my postfix box to log in to port 587 to relay mail. That option doesn't feel right -- it seems like there should be way to do server to server authentication, not just client to server authentication. Is there? If so, how would I set it up?

  • How do I send e-mails with attachments to a Microsoft WebTV user?

    my friend uses Microsoft WebTV (e-mail address ends with @webtv.net) and I'd like to send him an e-mail with a picture attached to it. We went through a series of attempts one of which ended up a success, all others a failure. He just can't see my e-mail in his mailbox, when it contains an attachment. E-mails without attachments always go through all right. What seemed to help in the first successful case, was that he added my e-mail address to his address book and my e-mail suddenly showed up. Seemed to have been delivered before but hidden. He kept my address in his address book however, it didn't help with the following trials. He did look into his junk folder, nothing there. I made sure the file name contains no spaces. It's a regular jpeg, named something-like-this.jpg I downsized it to have only about 50k, as I've read somewhere that that's a limit. I actually doubt this piece of information, because I think the successful attempt was larger. webtv.net contains zero information. I watched their video demo for the e-mail client, so I at least know how the user interface looks like. I've never laid my hands on the real thing. I'm an advanced user myself (a programmer) but I can't wrap my mind around this. He on the other hand, is a very technically inexperienced user and because he's half way across the globe, I can't come and look over his shoulder. He doesn't have a computer, afaik there's no way I could see what he sees. Any ideas on how to debug this? Thanks for your time, guys. P.S.     Hi everybody, I have a question about using Google Apps for handling emails. I don't want to set up a whole entire mail system on my server, so I decided to use Google Apps. The ownership of my domain is approved, and now I'm trying to change the MX records in the zone file of my domain. But I think I'm doing wrong, it doesn't work.   • Help configuring Mercury mail or similiar with XAMPP to send e-mail outside of localhost

    I'm building a PHP/MySQL driven website for my department at work (installed via XAMPP). I need to be able to send mail to outside e-mail addresses (e.g., Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.) using the PHP mail() function. As I see it I have to solutions: Configure the SMTP directive in php.ini to the server running at my work. Configure/run a mail server that can send e-mails outside of localhost (I'm trying Mercury because it comes installed with XAMPP). Here are problems I've come up against: I took a guess at our SMTP server name, and when calling PHP mail(), I get the error SMTP server response: 530 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated I can't be sure, however, the SMTP name is correct (I can't get help from our IT guys because of politics). I have tried to use mercury mail. Mercury seems to be picking up the request, but it doesn't want to forward the e-mail to the outside. I keep getting a Temporary error 240 (temporary MX resolution error). I've searched high and low but still can't find a definitive answer on how to send e-mails outside of localhost. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Sometimes I have non-english emails (arabic for example). When I try to open them with windows live mail, it doesn't show them correctly.. for example such this: &1588;&1603;&1585;&1575; &1610;&1575;&1605;&1575;&1606; (I changed it a bit to show here as I want) I had a look at options, there was encoding on arabic(windows) but I didn't find anything else. When I open this mail on yahoo however, there is no problem. What can I do?

I am currently using Free SMTP Server http://www.softstack.com/freesmtp.html This software works great other than the fact that it can only send 10 messages a day. This is a bit of a problem seeing that the software I am writing needs to send a message every half hour. Anyone knows of a good piece of software that does the same thing, but does not limit the amount of messages that can be sent in a day? EDIT: I am using windows xp, so software must be windows friendly

    I currently have an Exchange 2010 SP1 server in house, and due to some changes, it looks like i will need Multi Tenant support for a few extra domain names. Looking at the documentation i have found so far, it only mentions multi tenant support when upgrading from 2010 RTM - SP1, and not what you do if you have already got 2010 SP1 installed. So, from what i can gather, i have a few options: Install a new Exchange server with Multi Tenant support and migrate DBs over Back everything up and start again Something else... However, the application is using the servers' external IP addresses in order to connect to them over SMTP, and I was wondering what kind of improvement would be obtained if the application used the internal IP addresses of the servers instead?   • Recommendations for good Unix MTA / groupware solutions? [closed]

    Possible Duplicate: Exchange server replacement that runs on Linux I'm setting up a Debian server, and one of the things I need on it is an MTA. I don't want to use something like Exim or Postfix because I want something that ties in SMTP, POP3, and IMAP all in one (a la Microsoft Exchange). Most MTAs also seem to be hellishly difficult to configure. Try and read the Exim documentation; you could do a university degree on it (I'm not kidding). When you can get an HTTP server like Cherokee which is easy to configure and has a nice web interface, do MTAs or groupware solutions need to be that hard? I'm aware that some people think "the Unix way" is to have lots of different interacting pieces of software (like maybe an SMTP MTA, POP3 service, webmail service, and overarching manager to tie them all together), but I think this is a situation where that just makes things a lot harder to deal with and one large software suite fits in much more nicely. So, I'm looking for good open source software suites that will run on Debian that: Combine (at least) SMTP, POP3, and IMAP Are easy(ish) to configure Have a nice configuration web interface or GUI Are not defunct projects I don't mind if it's groupware and offers calendaring too, but I would only be using the e-mail functionality for now. Another nice-to-have would be built-in webmail (if we're combining a bunch of functionality, why not?) Note however that I do NOT need Outlook support. I am not really looking for an "Exchange replacement drop-in". The suites I've found so far that seem to match the above criteria (and have appropriate licenses) are Citadel, Kolab, and Zimbra. I'd appreciate anyone who has experience with any of these giving me the pros and cons of them, such as how easy they are to configure and what their performance is like. I'd also appreciate any other suggestions for solutions that fulfil my criteria that I may have missed out.

  • Outlook 2010 says "File is in use by another application or user" while closing

    Outlook opens, gets new emails and everything but when I close it, it gives me the following error and then opens up a Save a File window after I cancel this error message. There's no other computer that may be using Outlook under this User Name because I just set-up a brand new User Name. However, Colligo Briefcase is attached to the Outlook and not sure if this is triggering and if so how I address the issue!? Thanks a lot!

  • sendmail: Transport endpoint is not connected

    A few days ago my mail server (fedora 10, running sendmail 8.14.3) started getting "Transport endpoint is not connected" messages in the log. It seems to be happening for bigger mail hosts (hotmail, gmail, aol, etc). The errors started happening about the same time I upgraded clamav ... so I just tried downgrading clamav to the previous version, but the error keeps happening. I was dubious anyways ... why a milter would effect sendmail's ability to connect with a remote server was beyond me. If I force the mail queue's to run, the messages are delivered normally. I had this happen once before ... and I thought it was related to a milter I had configured but wasn't using ... but that milter is not in use at all now. Any suggestions?

    A board I'm on has about 700 - 1300 members being served from a listserv maintained by a company one of our board members is on. This restricts the ability of other board members to use the listserv unless they are employees of the company. They want to move to a system where anyone can administer the list. I'm thinking of switching to Constant Contact or Google Groups. We want something that allows list members to manage their own contact preferences and enables anyone authorized to send emails to the list.

  • Dovecot starting and running, but not listening on any port

    Among others things I'm in charge of a Debian GNU/Linux (Wheezy) DomU for the mail services of the company i work for. Yesterday one HDD that was used for this particular server has died. After installing Debian again, Dovecot decided to no longer listen on any ports (checked with netstat -l).
