• Displaying google analytics data on my website

  I sale adspace for my websites directly to the advertisers. I ad page where I want to show google anaylytics information that update automatically without me having to manually update everyday or every month. Something like this: http://wstats.net/en/website/riverplate.com#stat_trafic I don't want to use embedded or iframed third party services. I know google has public API and you can connect it to google graph API to to show pretty graphs. There is a tutorial by google here on how to do it: https://developers.google.com/analytics/resources/articles/gdataAnalyticsCharts Few problems: I don't know much javascript The javascript seems to prompt for authntication as opposed to login automatically. (from my understanding by reading comments on the code) Does anyone know of any ready made script that does what I am looking for or know how I can fix this code that will allow me to display analytic info without authenticating? • Robots.txt and "Bad" Robots

  I understand robots.txt and its purpose. I have read some people saying that using a Robots.txt gives "bad" robots or robots who do not obey a robots.txt a way to access pages on your site that you do not want accessed. While I am not looking to get into a debate about that I do have a question: If I have a structure like this: /Folder/ /Sub-Folder 1/ /Sub-Folder 2/ (Note: There are no pages within /Folder/ only other folders.) If I Disallow: /Folder/ it will prevent "good" robots from accessing the directory and any contents within the sub-folders. While we know that bad robots will see the /Folder/ will they be able to see and acess the sub-folders and the pages within the subfolders if they are not listed in the robots.txt? (Note: I do not fully understand how robots good or bad crawl a site beyond using a robots.txt and links within the site.)

• Google keeps indexing /comment/reply URL

  With the new update of Google algorithm called Penguin, I think my site was being penalized due to webspam. But of course I don't create post which seems to be spam to Google. It is just I think how Google index my site. I found out that Google index the URL of my site like: http://www.example.com/comment/reply/3866/26556 So there are so many comment/reply URL index by Google. I have already added: Disallow: /comment/reply/ Disallow: /?q=comment/reply/ but still Google still index this URL. Any idea how to prevent Google from indexing comments?

• Where should I redirect (removed) phishing pages

  I was unfortunately the victim of a PHP exploit. Looking through my webserver logs, people are still attempting to reach the URL used in the phish. I want to redirect them to a site that will educate these people on what phishing is. My question: Is there a (generic / vendor-neutral) phishing education website that you suggest I send them to with a 301 redirect? (I assume a 301 is the best option.)

  I am trying to redirect www.domain.com or domain.com to www.domain.com/temp.html I am using the following code: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^.*$ RewriteRule ^/?$ "http\:\/\/www\.domain\.com\/temp\.html" [R=301,L] That works however I do not want to redirect IP. So if someone types in the static IP of the domain then I do not want them to be redirected to www.domain.com/temp.html Anyone have the code to take care of this?

• iOS Touch Icon through XLSX file?

  I'm setting up some iPads, and pointing Safari to www.mywebsite.com/spreadsheet.xlsx and it's displaying the document fine. That part is OK. I'm just wondering if there is a way to add a iOS Icon to the document so I can save it to the springboard of the iPad? Maybe embedding the document in HTML? PHP could also possibly be used but I'm really not sure how I would go about doing this, has anyone managed anything like this before?

• iPhone site optimization: Custom viewport size

  I've got a site that should max out a 575px on the iphone and wanted to know what the best method is for defaulting the viewport to this size. Currently I am using this meta tag: <meta name="viewport" content="width=575; user-scalable=no;"> This displays some odd behavior in that it loads fully zoomed out and then, once the page is loaded, zooms in to 575. What are the best methods to ensure that my site will surely display at 575px wide in mobile browsers?

  I need a solution for the following problem: I use a CMS and want the backend only be available at http://domain.com/backend and not at http://www.domain.com/backend. How do I have to change my .htaccess file to achieve this? I already have a rewrite rule from HTTP (non-www) to www. • Google Webmaster Tools Data Highlighter says "Failed to load data, please try again later"

  I seem to be unable to access the data highlighter in Google Webmaster Tools since I attempted to start a new highlight on a page. Clicking the red Start Highlighting button to open the tagger did nothing, so I refreshed. Now, the page loads without the middle content section, then a few seconds later shows the following error: Failed to load data, please try again later. I can't get any of the middle section to load, even the list of current pages/page sets that have been highlighted—this error shows. I thought it may be a Google service outage, but other sites' data highlighters work fine. It also seems coincidental that it stopped working after I attempted to start highlighting—I was able to list the existing pages and page sets fine before that, and still am able to access the service on other sites. I've tried clearing browser data and have tried Google Chrome as well—same problem. What's happened?

  I have a website that has an SSL certificate installed, so that if I access the website using https instead of http I will be able to connect using a secure connection. However, I have noticed that I can still access the website non-securely, ie. by using http instead of https. How can I prevent people using the website in a non-secure manner? If I have a directory on the website, eg. samples/, can I prevent non-secure connections to just this directory?

  If possible, I'd like to know whether to use my name or the website's name when making the copyright notice for my website. I read here that when I add a copyright notice to my website I should include (3) the name of the owner of copyright in the work, or an abbreviation by which the name can be recognized, or a generally known alternative designation of the owner.   I have seen a couple of site which has high number of hits. They are mostly tutorial sites and blogs that address software issue/errors. I wonder if the kewybord "blog" has a very positive effect in SEO? In my own site, I have install word press in root folder to avoid any blog keyword. I also did this to keep urls shallow (deeper url are not good for SEO). But I may want to think on it again. The sites I am referring too are http://blog.sqlauthority.com http://veerasundar.com/blog/2011/11/making-xampp-to-serve-any-directory-outside-htdocs/ I know there are standard (sort of) class names or ID that identify different contents and makes it easier for the search engine to identify contents like, "container", "menu". The use of word "blog" would mean this is about dicussing/tutoring something and have a very positive effect on SEO?

  I am using tags for my posts on my WordPress site. The content of my post is set in <article> tags, which is fine and now, I want to put the author link and tags in a <footer> tag, but I don't know if this is good for SEO reasons. I know that Googlebots are putting less weight if they see links in a footer, but will this effect my tag pages? Is there any harm? I would love to read a good explanation on this.

For performance reasons I would like that POST requests on certain endpoint are just saved to a file without passing them to application (and to return correct HTTP return code). How to configure apache to do that? EDIT: In other words, if a POST request is for path "http://example.com/upload" then the content of the post (body) should go into a file.

  A couple of days ago I created an extension for Chrome and added it to the store. Now I want it to get verified. I payed the 5 dollar and added my website to Webmaster Tools. The website is also verified on those Webmaster Tools. Today I wanted to add my URL to my extension (ultimately to do online installations) but it doesn't recognize the URL I put in those Webmaster Tools. I tried refreshing and clicking add site, but it just doesn't work. Is there some step that I am missing or is this a bug in the Chrome Web Store, because I don't see any option left.

  We have a large database of items which are viewable as individual items (they are plants) (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/Abelia-chinensis/plant-5087) or in a list view (url example http://www.plantify.co.uk/page-1/plant). There is a link on the individual page to the list view. We want to index in google for the term Abelia chinensis. My question revolves around the list view and its impact on SEO.   If i have lots of images appearing tumblr blogs, the sort of tumblogs with very little text just reams and reams of images for people to browse through (example - http://whereisthecool.com/). If my image is embeded in their site like this : <a href="http://mysite.com" target="blank"> <img src="cutecatblog.com/cat.jpg" alt="cute cat"/> </a> so the image was a link back to my site. Although there is no anchor text to speak of does google take into account the alt text of the image ? Would this still count in googles eyes as a backlink ?

My old webhost stopped paying for their servers back in August without any notice. I was going to do a backup the day it happened. Is there a way just to find the text? When I refresh this in Internet Explorer 9, the page takes over a minute to load compared to instantly in Firefox (latest stable build. Will I be able to determine which domain forwarded to the primary domain using their technique? Or will it simply tranfers all the relevant keyword and other factors to the primary domain but not which domain was originally landed before the 302 redirect. Would it be better to use the .com and park the .co.uk, If I am selling the product locally (in the uk) and later moving out into the international market? Will I struggle more to compete locally with regards to local searches and Google Adwords, if I make the .com as the primary domain?   We have a smallish web farm of < 5 Windows 2008 servers. Some do data, most do IIS hosting. Is it a good/bad idea to set up a domain controller and put all in the same "production" domain? We want to avoid a world where we have to sync multiple admin passwords between the boxes (or share admin credentials among the team). Presumably, the DC would be just another VM, so hardware cost doesn't enter into the discussion.
