  • Hero Class, php classes

    I am going to have different classes for a character that a user play. Like "Mage, Warrior" etc. I am thinking of a method like have some CharacterBase class (abstract?) and then I have a child class which is like WarriorClass or something like that. I think the approach is called Factory pattern or something like that. Anyone got a clue of what I'm trying to achieve here, and are there perhaps any better way to do this?

  • Android : Stop image scaling down

    Hi, I'm trying to draw an image in a view but having problems trying to maintain the scale of the original image. Basically, I have a small view and I would like to show part of the image in the view. The intention then is to perform a translation on the image so that a different part appears in the view. No matter what I try, either the image is down-scaled automatically to fit the view or the whole image is viewable. I've tried playing about with the settings on BitmapDrawable, ImageView and Layout to no avail. Anyone know a good way to achieve this?

  • What is the fastest way to get a DataTable into SQL Server?

    I have a DataTable in memory that I need to dump straight into a SQL Server temp table. After the data has been inserted, I transform it a little bit, and then insert a subset of those records into a permanent table. The most time consuming part of this operation is getting the data into the temp table. Now, I have to use temp tables, because more than one copy of this app is running at once, and I need a layer of isolation until the actual insert into the permanent table happens. What is the fastest way to do a bulk insert from a C# DataTable into a SQL Temp Table? I can't use any 3rd party tools for this, since I am transforming the data in memory. My current method is to create a parameterized SqlCommand: INSERT INTO #table (col1, col2, ... col200) VALUES (@col1, @col2, ... @col200) and then for each row, clear and set the parameters and execute. There has to be a more efficient way. I'm able to read and write the records on disk in a matter of seconds...

  • I wired up a z 80 using telephone wire and put a jump to 0000 0000 0000 0000

    I put 1100 0011 0000 0000 0000 0000 in the 2764 eprom --- this is supposed to test the z80 -- I have a 555 timer running at 500 khz. Can this small program work with the z80 ? I looked at the address pins on a m465 oscilloscope. The address shows highs up to 0100 0000. I think it should only count to 0000 0000 0000 0011. Can the z80 be tested? The Santa Clara Valley also made the lm1871 radio control chip that could not show a high or a low without completing the entire rc loop.

    My application uses DirectX 9.0c. There are many installers for the end-user run-times, ranging from 400Kb to 100Mb+ and obviously I don't want to bloat my installer file. However, I believe there are potentially legal restrictions which mean I can't just distribute whichever MS installers I might choose. I hope you understand my problem.

    Background: I am customizing an existing ASP .NET / C# application. It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface. Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work. I placed breakpoints at the the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers are triggered. On the second click, they are triggered. Any ideas?     I need to test if my 304 responses are working, but my development environment is pretty hard set on force no-cache. Is there an easy way to modify the max-age value of the cache-control header before it goes out? I'm perhaps a bit optimistic in hoping chrome (or an extension, or FF) has a console command letting me alter the if-modified-since header then send the request. Maybe paste something into a telnet connection?

Will there be conflicts on the toString? Or can Class1 use Base2::toString to satisfy IBase? Like I say there are lots of other things not shown, so suggestions for major design changes on this example are probably not that helpful... though any general suggestions/advice are welcome.

  • Flash Sprite looses focus on MOUSE_DOWN event

    My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete). I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost?   • Why Do I See the "In Recovery" Msg, and How Can I Prevent it?

    The project I'm working on creates a local copy of the SQL Server database for each SVN branch you work on. We're running SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services on our local machine to host it. When we create a new branch, the build script will create a new database with the ID of that branch, creates the schema objects, and copies over a selection of data from the production shadow server. After the database is created, it, or other databases on the local machine, will often go into "In Recovery" mode for several minutes. After several refreshes it comes up and is happy, but will occasionally go back into "In Recovery" mode. The database is created in simple recovery mode. The file names aren't specified, so it uses default paths for files. The size of the database after loading data is ~400 megs. It is running in SQL Server 2005 compatibility mode. The command that creates the database is: sqlcmd -S $(DBServer) -Q "IF NOT EXISTS (SELECT [name] FROM sysdatabases WHERE [name] = '$(DBName)') BEGIN CREATE DATABASE [$(DBName)]; print 'Created $(DBName)'; END" ...where $(DBName) and $(DBServer) are MSBuild parameters. I got a nice clean log file this morning. When I turned on my computer it starts all five databases. However, two of them show transactions being rolled forward and backwards.     A system has up to 100 VC++ projects, each spitting out a DLL or EXE. In addition there are many COM components with IDL and generated .h/.c files. What's 'the right way' or at least a good way to organise this with Doxygen? One overall doxy project or one per project/solution? And what's the right way to handle COM, which has generated code and a lot of 'fluff' that will bloat generated HTML files.

  • Write a dll that is accessable from VS 2003 VC++ code

    I need to be able to write a DLL in either C# or VC++ that is accessible from code that is written in Visual Studio 2003 VC++. It looks like the code is unmanaged (uses * for pointers) VC++ and this DLL needs to be able to drop right in and be accessed by the current code. The DLL is an RS232 driver that needs to be able to return an int for an error code and pass back, by reference, some measured values, to the calling program. Will I even be able to write this in C#? If not, I only have access to Visual Studio 2005 or 2008. Will I be able to write my code in either, and will that DLL be able to be called from the current code base? Or do I have to go looking on ebay for a copy of VS 2003?
