  • Launching multiple applications with a single command/script/shortcut

    I realized a few days ago that every time I sit down at work, I do a few things after unlocking my computer. First, I open up Firefox, then I open up Chrome, then I log in to Digsby. I realized I could probably save repeating this daily by writing a small batch script to open up Firefox and Chrome , but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.. and since the whole effort is to save time I don't want to bash my head around in the windows command prompt to do it. I also tired this in powershell but ran in to a bunch of security nonsense. Is there a way to do this that I am missing? Bonus points if somebody has figured out how to manipulate Digsby via COM , scripting, or python =)

  • Windows failover cluster - virtual node with multiple Client Access Names

    I recently encountered a customer environment in which they had failover cluster where one of the virtual nodes had more than one 'Client Access Name' (i.e. more than one IP address and DNS name for the single virtual node). Long story short we had to modify our software to deal with this situation, but we want to recreate the situation in house to test it before releasing. I have been unable to locate any information about how or why you would end up with a virtual node that has more than one access name. Does anyone know how I can set up a Windows failover cluster where a virtual node has more than one access name/IP?

  • Multiple SSL certificates on one server

    We're hosting two websites on our fairly tiny but dedicated production server. Both website require SSL authentication. So, we have virtualhosts set up for both of them. They both reference their own domain.key, domain.crt and domain.intermediate.crt files. Each CSR and certificate file for each site was setup using its own unique information and nothing is shared between them (other than the server itself) However, which ever site's symbolic link (set up in /etc/apache2/sites-enabled) is reference first, is the site who's certificate is referenced even if we're visiting the second site. So for example, assume our companies are Cadbury and Nestle. We set up both sites with their own certificates but we create Cadbury's symbolic link in apache's site-enabled folder first and then Nestle's. You can visit Nestle perfectly fine but if you check the certificate installation, it reference's Cadbury's certificate. We're hosting these websites on a dedicated Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS server. Both certificates are provided by Thawte.com. I came across a few potential solutions with no degree of success. I'm hoping someone else has a decent solution? Thanks Edit: The only other solution that seems to have provided success to some people is using SNI with Apache. However, the setups here didn't seem to coincide with our setup at all.

  • Combine multiple network interfaces to connect to a dedicated server

    this is an underpaid employee writing, who's apparently responsible for all the IT stuff in a very small (non-IT) company. Today said company got a bunch of PCs/workstations, a switch, a computer that's supposed to be used as a router, two DSL connections (each 16 MBit/s downstream and 1 MBit/s upstream) and a dedicated server which is hosted and managed professionally by a larger local company with some decent connection speed (1 GBit/s both directions if I'm not mistaken). This is what I've set up (note I'm not making use of the second DSL connection at all)... ETH0 ETH1 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER]---[DSL MODEM 1]---[INTERNET] | | | PC1 | | PC2 | ... ... when my boss asked me, if it was somehow possible to get 32 MBit/s downstream and 2 MBit/s upstream. At that time I replied "no" without thinking too much about it. Now I've just had the following idea... ETH1 ETH0 ETH0 ,---[DSL MODEM 1 (NON-STATIC IP)]---, ,---, ETH0 [ SWITCH ]---[LINUX DEBIAN ROUTER] [INTERNET] [LINUX DEBIAN SERVER]---[INTERNET] | | | '---[ DSL MODEM 2 (STATIC IP) ]---' '---' PC1 | | ETH2 ETH0 PC2 | ... ... but I have absolutely no clue how to implement that. Would that even be possible? What would the masquerading rules look like on the router? What about the server? I didn't find anything on the internet, mainly because I couldn't come up with any good keywords to search for to begin with. English obviously isn't my first language.   • How to enable WordPress to have multiple sites without a re-direct

    I'm using WordPress to manage my site and when the site does a re-direct, it slows down performance. For example, WordPress allows you a single default site, www.mycompany.com. If a user goes to mycompany.com, WP will re-direct it www.mycompany.com. Is there a way to configure WP so that it will listen on both www.mycompany.com and mycompany.com without redirects. The redirects are causing performance hits to the site.

  • Set up homeserver with single IP to host multiple sites on Ubuntu [closed]

    I am trying to set up my homeserver so it can function as a regular server one would rent. I am running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with openpanel. I have a single static IP address. I am used to having two addresses and pointing them to NS1.domain.tld and NS2.domain.tld and setting up the propper DNS records. I would also like to mention I am somewhat new to DNS zones. Either way, how would I go about setting this up correctly (in openpanel) with just a single IP address if possible at all? I have also read about free solutions online, but I would like to keep everything secure and private so other people can't peer into my data somehow. Thanks!

  • CArray doesn't call copy constructors on memory reallocations, now what?

    Suppose I have a class that requires copy constructor to be called to make a correct copy of: struct CWeird { CWeird() { number = 47; target = &number; } CWeird(const CWeird &other) : number(other.number), target(&number) { } void output() { printf("%d %d\n", *target, number); } int *target, number; }; Now the trouble is that CArray doesn't call copy constructors on its elements when reallocating memory (only memcpy from the old memory to the new), e.g. this code CArray<CWeird> a; a.SetSize(1); a[0].output(); a.SetSize(2); a[0].output(); results in 47 47 -572662307 47 I don't get this. Why is it that std::vector can copy the same objects properly and CArray can't? What's the lesson here? Should I use only classes that don't require explicit copy constructors? Or is it a bad idea to use CArray for anything serious?

    I have PostgreSQL 8.4 and 9.0 running on the same server (Ubuntu Lucid). I installed them both via apt-get (8.4 with the default package sources, and 9.0 after adding the ppa from https://launchpad.net/~pitti/+archive/postgresql). When I run a command like "createdb" from the command line or start up the "psql" shell, PostgreSQL version 8.4 is used by default on my system. So, how do I force these commands to use PostgreSQL 9.0 instead of 8.4?

    I have a Cisco ASA5510 and articles related to ASA and mulitple Public IP says this cant be done. My question is how to best solve a scenario like this: I have 3 zones, Outside, Inside and DMZ Outside is Internet Inside is Client machines DMZ is a zone for servers related to external and internal services. My scenario is a bit more complex, but to keep things simple this will do: I want to place an Exchange server and a web server (externally reachable in the DMZ zone) The webserver uses both TCP80/443, the Exchange server uses 443 So to the problem: With the ASA only having one public IP, how would you make a DNAT to port 443 on both the internal hosts behind 1 Public IP? Usually, when i do this kind of scenario With Linux boxes i use alias Interfaces like eth0:0, eth0:1 and set 1 Public IP on each. To me this must be a pretty common scenario, any ideas on how to solve it With ASA? /KGDI

  • Using Zend_Db and multiple tables

    I have a normalized database that stores locations of files on the internet. A file may have multiple locations spread across different sites. I am storing the urls in two parts (Site.UrlStart, FileLocation.UrlEnd). The UrlEnd is the part unique to that file (for the site). Simplified Db structure: I am using Zend_Db as my ORM (If it is that), with classes for the tables inheriting from Zend_Db_Table_Abstract. The issue is that retrieving the location data (e.g. the url) requires the use of multiple tables and as far as I can make out and I would either have to use both table classes (thereby exposing my table structure) or scatter sql all over my application, neither of which sound appealing. The only solution I can see is to create a façade that acts like Zend_Db_Table_Abstract (Maybe inherits from it?) and hides the fact that the data is actually on two tables. My questions are as follows: Am I going in the right direction in creating a façade class (Are there other alternatives)? Should the facade class inherit from Zend_Db_Table_Abstract?

    I have to handle many (1'000 - 30'000) big files ranging from 200MB up to 2GB. The demand for these files is variable (0 - 300 downloads / file). This is why a single file must saved on 2 or more servers. My servers are placed in different datacenters (France), with different size HDDs (750GB to 4TB). Currently I share the files using PHP and ncftpget / ncftpput, but it's very slow. I need a solution to handle balancing these files across 7+ servers.

I've just upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 8, in 7 I'd sign into one then sign out. With Windows 8 you have to tie it to your Windows Account. How can I maintain this distinction and still use my laptop for Skype calls when I work at home?

  • FFmpeg add multiple audio files to video at specific points

    I have two audio files, each about 3 minutes long. I want to take the first 10 seconds of each file and add them each to a video file at specific points - 0 seconds and 10 seconds. So the resulting video should be 20 seconds long. I've got this far: ffmpeg -i video.mov -ss 0 -t 20 -itsoffset 0 -i audio1.mp3 -itsoffset 10 -i audio2.mp3 -acodec copy -vcodec copy out.mov ...but the resulting video has 20 seconds of the first audio file only, the second audio file doesn't start at 10 seconds like it should. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

    Say I have an SSL Certificate for a super cool site that I offer, like https://secure.coolsite.com/ (Not my site, just an example). Then lets say I had a customer who wanted to have a CNAME to my site on his server, like https://mycoolsite.his-site.com/ Would he need a regular SSL certificate on his end, would I need to have a second certificate on my end (And just "install" it on my webserver), or would I need a multi-domain SSL certificate, or he just has to list my site as an alias on his certificate?     I've installed two operatings system on single drive with 3 partitions (#1 Windows 7, #2 Debian Squeeze, #some data). Grub 2 is installed in MBR and lets me choose which system to boot. I would encrypt the 1st system partition containing Win 7. I tried to do this using TrueCrypt under Windows, but it says that encrypting Windows system with other loader (not windows loader, Grub in my case) is not supported. How can I do that?
