• c++ property class structure

  I have a c++ project being developed in QT. The problem I'm running in to is I am wanting to have a single base class that all my property classes inherit from so that I can store them all together. Right now I have: class AbstractProperty { public: AbstractProperty(QString propertyName); virtual QString toString() const = 0; virtual QString getName() = 0; virtual void fromString(QString str) = 0; virtual int toInteger() = 0; virtual bool operator==(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; virtual bool operator!=(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; virtual bool operator<(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; virtual bool operator>(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; virtual bool operator>=(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; virtual bool operator<=(const AbstractProperty &rightHand) = 0; protected: QString name; }; then I am implementing classes such as PropertyFloat and PropertyString and providing implementation for the comparator operators based on the assumption that only strings are being compared with strings and so on. However the problem with this is there would be no compiletime error thrown if i did if(propertyfloat a < propertystring b) however my implementation of the operators for each derived class relies on them both being the same derived class. So my problem is I cant figure out how to implement a property structure so that I can have them all inherit from some base type but code like what I have above would throw a compile time error. Any ideas on how this can be done? For those familiar with QT I tried using also a implementation with QVariant however QVariant doesn't have operators < and defined in itself only in some of its derived classes so it didn't work out. What my end goal is, is to be able to generically refer to properties. I have an element class that holds a hashmap of properties with string 'name' as key and the AbstractProperty as value. I want to be able to generically operate on the properties. i.e. if I want to get the max and min values of a property given its string name I have methods that are completely generic that will pull out the associated AbstactProperty from each element and find the max/min no matter what the type is. so properties although initially declared as PropertyFloat/PropertyString they will be held generically.

  Hey community, I want to create an navigation with anchors. By clicking on a navigation link, the whole visible page should scroll down to the clicked anchor. The most important is the following structure of the page. --------------- (Begin visible browser area) NAV1 nav2 nav3 content --------------- (Begin/end visible browser area) nav1 NAV2 nav3 content --------------- (Begin/end visible browser area) nav1 nav2 NAV3 content --------------- (end visible browser area) Finally all content is in a single document and the height of the current page (selected by the nav-item) has to be calculated (with a JS Library). • css position question: layers with z-index?

  hey guys, i have a probably rather simpel problem: my website has two layers: 1) a drag&drop navigation on top which should be positioned absolute, so scrolling doesn't affect the bars. 2) a content area in the back behind the navigation which should be scrollable. you can see what i mean right here: http://jsfiddle.net/Pghqv/ however now, i cannot click links in my content-area in the back. any ideas or solutions how i can still have the same position result and the links in the back are working? thank you very much.

• UINavigationController shows blank view

  I am making a simple navigation based application that drills down one level and show a new xib file each time. When I drill down one level my screen shows up blank. I still have the navigation controller at the top with a back button but my view dosent load. • What can be inside a class that derive from OmniAuth?

  I have the following class class Identity < OmniAuth:: Identity:: Models:: ActiveRecord attr_accessible :email, :name, :password_digest, :password, :password_confirmation end I wonder if the above properties are the only ones allowed for a class that derive from a OmniAuth. I wish I could add some more like FirstName, LastName, age, gender, and so on. Do I need to create an other model for those properties or can I just add them to the Identity model? • do people value information or aesthetic value of websites ? [closed]

  I'm thinking, why does the web have to be so colorful. meaning, all the information is buried deep beneath layers of flash, javascripts, html and images. Sure, a good positioning of these media files, create an aesthetic value but how important is it to the user ? moreover, aren't people looking for information after all ? why can't the internet be a uniform looking data warehouse ? now we've gotta digg through all the aesthetic junk, using shady web scraping techniques, unless RSS or API is provided. why can't we settle for just a dull grey button and framesets for navigation ? why can't all sites have navigation frame on the left and top ? why can't all sites put their damn data always in normalized table tag ?

• detailsView title and description stays the same, not refreshing ...

  I have some values on my tableview coming from database. I simply tap one of them, navigate to detailsView then I can see the title and description of that value on my navigation controller. (title on navigation bar, description on text view in detailsView) but when I wanted to search, I click search bar, keyboard comes up from the bottom, tableview minimizes a bit then find what I want from table. I tap again but titles and descriptions show very first value of my table view .. It does not show the correct title and description. Whenever I searched, it shows the title and description of very first value on my table view..

• How can I dismiss the view appeared by touching Add item in UINavigationController ?

  I have added add(+ symbol button) button to my navigation controller. When I click it a view appears from bottom. I added a navigation bar and two buttons to it. One save and one cancel button. And the view have one textEdit box. After editing I can save or cancel. If I touch cancel I need the view to disappear like it should go down again. I think all iPhone , iPodTouch users use it. Like when they touch Add item then a view appears from bottom and when they cancel it goes down again. How can I make in this way in my application.

• CSS fixed div. Avoid unwanted overlapping

  I've got a CSS layout made of 2 columns. the navigation column to the left is a fix div. It stays there while scrolling down the main content in the column to the right. The problem comes when I reduce the browser window, or zoom in: when scrolling the browser windom horizontally, the main content on the right starts overlapping the navigation column on the left. How can I fix it so that whatever the size of my browser window or my zoom level is, when i scroll horizontally the fixed div isn't overlapped but pushes the main column to the right?   Is there anyway to use the built-in DNN Menu module to display a menu based at a different root node other than the current tab node? Given the following structure: Page1 -child1_1 -child1_2 Page3 Page2(hidden) -child2_1 -child2_2 In this scenario I will be having 2 menus on this skin. One will be normal navigation based off of the current node and the other will be a set of 'static' links to pages located outside the current node. When on Page1 the normal navigation will show Page1, Page3 and the children of Page1 nested under Page1. The 'static' links will use 'Page2' as their root and will show child2_1 and child2_2.
