  Hi, I have 2 ears say Ear1 and Ear2 for my application,which are deployed in clusters.Ear2 is having Ejb which is being called from Ear1. EJB reference is required for communication between Ear2 and Ear1.i am setting the below value to Target Resource JNDI Name: corbaloc::ClusterServer1:2810,:ClusterServer2:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/mycompanyName/projectName/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome But i am getting the below error Caused by: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: A communication failure occurred while attempting to obtain an initial context with the provider URL: "corbaloc::mums00100251.in.net.intra:2810,:mums00100392.in.net.intra:2810/cell/clusters/Cluster1/ejb/com/bnpparibas/tradefinance/ejb/facade/EjbFacadeHome".   What is the big deal with SSL? My interenet website hosting provider has sold me an SSL line. All I know is that for what I want to do with PayPal, I need to have a folder that is denoted beginning with https:// and this is what an SSL line is. But it seems that they have a hard time setting it up. I wonder if I can just go ahead and do it for myself. I mean, some third party has send me confirmation and even what seems to be some sort of long numeric certificate.

  Hi, We have a web based client-server product. The client is expected to be used in the upwards of 1M users (a famous company is going to use it). Our server is set up in the cloud. One of the major questions while designing is how to make the whole program future proof. Say: Cloud provider goes down, then move automatically to backup in another cloud Move to a different server altogether etc The options we thought till now are: DNS: Running a DNS name server on the cloud ourselves. Directory server - The directory server also lives on the cloud Have our server returning future movements and future URLs etc to the client - wherein the client is specifically designed to handle those scenarios Since this should be a usual problem, which is the best solution for the same? Since our company is a very small one, we are looking at the least technically and financially expensive solution (say option 3 etc)? Could someone provide some pointers for the same? K

• Looking for some thoughts on an image printing app

  Hey All, Im looking for thoughts/advice. I have an upcoming project (all .net) that will require the following: pulls data once a day from an online service provider based on certain criteria. saves data locally for reference and reporting the data thats pulled will be used to create gift cards. So after the data is loaded, a process will run to generate "virtual cards" and send them to a network printer. Once printed, the system will updated the local data recording a successful or failed print. My initial thought was to create a windows service to pull the data...but then I couldnt decide how I was going to put a "virtual card" together and get it to print. Then I considered doing it as a WPF app. I figure that will give me access to the graphics and printing ability. Maybe neither of these are the right direction....Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Alex

• How to impose control access on flash player streaming through RTMP?

  Hi, I'm using ICECAST and I'm streaming AAC/HE-AACv2 audio/video file through flash player and on iPhone. Both are separate. But when I submit url in WINAMP to stream it's requesting username/password. But when I use it with flash player, it just starts streaming. My case is I want to use same streaming (RTMP) for both website and iPhone app and i want to impose control access over my flash player to authenticate who can see streamed video. So, I need to allow access to authenticated users only to see flash player or just reject playing. Now, my provider is not supporting control access on flash player, but i need to do it... can u say how i can do this? Any kind of help will be appreciated. Thanks.

• Multiple complete HTTP requests stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state

  I have a Java and Tomcat-based server application which initiates many outbound HTTP requests to other web sites. We use Jakarta's HTTP Core/Client libraries, very latest versions. The server locks up at some point since all its worker threads are stuck trying to close completed HTTP connections. Using 'lsof' reveals a bunch of sockets stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state. This doesn't happen for all, or even most connections. In fact, I saw it before and resolved it by making sure to set the Connection: Close response header. So that makes me think it may be bad behavior of remote servers. It may have come up again since I moved the app to a totally new service provider -- different OS, network situation. But, I am still at a loss as to what I could do, if anything, to work around this. Some poking around on the internet didn't turn up anything I'm not already doing. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has seen and solved this?

• JPA entitymanager remove operation is not performant

  When I try to do an entityManager.remove(instance) the underlying JPA provider issues a separate delete operation on each of the GroupUser entity. I feel this is not right from a performance perspective, since if a Group has 1000 users there will be 1001 calls issued to delete the entire group and itr groupuser entity. • Shipping Integration into a Rails App

  I'm working on integrating a shipping solution into a Rails ecommerce app. We're only going to use one shipping provider. So the question is: Fedex or UPS? I'm wondering what Rails developers think about the tech side of this question. What do you think about the APIs, ease of integration, focus on developer's needs between Fedex and UPS? I was leaning towards Fedex, but from looking at the developers resources sections of both sites, it seems that UPS might be more developer friendly. Also, I'm going to be using Shopify's active_shipping gem: http://github.com/Shopify/active_shipping And I also based my app off the Spree Ecommerce solution, but I don't think that's particularly relevant to the question. Spree wrote a wrapper to integrate active_shipping with the Spree system. I gave away all my points, so SO wont' let me post another link in this question. But if you google "Spree active-shipping", their wrapper on github is the first result. Thanks.

  Hi, We are developing an iphone application, which requires us to add polling(survey) functionality in the app. We also have same poll in either MySpace or Facebook. We have to sync the polling data to our iphone application. How can we achieve this? We have found some third party polling service provider like Zoomerang, Poll Daddy polls, etc., but they don't have supporting API for iphone application or at least one we are not aware of.   If I were to extricate my current membership provider from my solution, i.e. as a dll and expose it as a web service with it's own db, how would I model the relationships with regards to SOA design. For example I have a table: USER id, name, lastname, username, password, role. and table PRODUCT id, name, price, createdate, userid the foreign key being userid to table user. How would I model the relationship and/or query the db. If I wanted to get all products that were uploaded today for example, before I would query: SELECT u.name, u.lastname, u.username, p.* FROM PRODUCT p INNER JOIN USER u ON p.userid = u.id WHERE createdate = '05/05/2010' Now that I don't have the table within the database how would I perform this query? IF the application pool is set to Enable 32 bit applications the code works as expected; however the oracle driver I am using fails as it is only 64 bit. If Enable 32-bit applications is set to false the excel code fails with the error: Data source name not found and no default driver specified Any suggestions?

• Converting from SQL Server 2000 to 2005 for ASP.NET web App

  Hi there, I'm moving my ASP.NET website to a new provider. Only problem is, old host support my SQL Server 2000 db. New host only supports SQL Server 2005. How should I go about the conversion ? Can I simply produce a backup of the 2000 (.bak) file at the old host, and restore that file into SQL Server 2005 at the new host ? Or is there more to it ?? Note that I don't own a copy of SQL Server 2005 at home... and I'm trying to avoid having to do so. Thanks, Bazza

• What's the difference between the 'DES' class and The 'DESCryptoServiceProvider' class?

  All I can make out is that one of them is the BC for all 'DES' algorithms to be derived from and the later is a wrapper for the Cryptographic service provider implementation of the DES algorithm. The reason why I ask is that I am going over .Net Security and the MS official training book simply refers to the DES class but the another official MS book refers to the DESCrypto' class. What's the difference between these two? When would you use either of them? What do I need to know as far as the 70-536 exam is concerned. • How should I compensate for a bad WSDL?

  I've come across several examples of SOAP-based web services where automated tooling fails to build a client that works. Investigating these examples leads me to believe that the WSDL the service uses to describe itself doesn't quite match the service that's being provided. Maybe a wrong type somewhere, a different data structure - something. I'm unsure what the most appropriate response is - if we assume that the obvious one (get the provider to fix their stuff) isn't available. Some options I can think of: Make a fixed WSDL? Hack the generated code? Any other options? No good options? What good experiences have people had? What works in a real environment? Thanks

Why would companies spend more on North American/local developers where they can get the same quality if not better job done offshore ? • Maintaining session across relay domain?

  I'm building a payment page in asp.net, however the page where you order your items is run in HTTP (non-secure) on my domain. When redirecting the user to the payment site, I have to go through a different domain (my payment provider, from whom I borrow the SSL certificate), so my payment url ends up like https://www.paymentprovider.com/somescript.cgi/www.mydomain.com/mypaymentpage.aspx Now the problem is my session is lost, but I store the order in session, so I desperately needs it. Can I somehow send the SessionID in querystring, and restore the session from it - or do I need to stuff the entire order into querystring ? (Not too certain it'll fit though, it's rather long) Any help will be highly appreciated :-)
