  • Authenticating a single request with httpclient 4.x

    I have an HttpClient instance that's shared by a number of threads. I would like to use it to make a single authenticated request. Because only the single request should be authenticated, I don't want to modify the HttpClient instance as described in the documentation. Here's what I've worked out instead, which isn't working. From what I can tell, it doesn't look like the CredentialsProvider is being used at all. Any tips?     I am testing the speed of inserting multiple rows with a single INSERT statement. For example: INSERT INTO [MyTable] VALUES (5, 'dog'), (6, 'cat'), (3, 'fish) This is very fast until I pass 50 rows on a single statement, then the speed drops significantly. Inserting 10000 rows with batches of 50 take 0.9 seconds. Inserting 10000 rows with batches of 51 take 5.7 seconds. My question has two parts: Why is there such a hard performance drop at 50? Can I rely on this behavior and code my application to never send batches larger than 50? My tests were done in c++ and ADO.

Anyways, I have downloaded free fonts from GoSquared (link) which provides all fonts in single SVG file. So, is there any standard way or tool to convert this single SVG files into individual icon's svg/png file? (I have GIMP) By the way, It also gives .ai file, but I don't have Adobe Illustrator (in fact, I don;t have any Adobe Design too).. Cheers,

  • Using Jquery.Form Plugin + MultiFile to automatically upload a single file

    I wanted to find a way to upload a single file*, in the background, have it start automatically after file selection, and not require a flash uploader, so I am trying to use two great mechanisms (jQuery.Form and JQuery MultiFile) together. I haven't succeeded, but I'm pretty sure it's because I'm missing something fundamental. Just using MultiFile, I define the form as follows... <form id="photoForm" action="image.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> The file input button is defined as... <input id="photoButton" "name="sourceFile" class="photoButton max-1 accept-jpg" type="file"> And the Javascript is... $('#photoButton').MultiFile({ afterFileSelect: function(){ document.getElementById("photoForm").submit(); } }); This works perfectly. As soon as the user selects a single file, MultiFile submits the form to the server. If instead of using MultiFile, as shown above, let's say I include a Submit button along with the JQuery Form plugin defined as follows... var options = { success: respondToUpload }; $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); ... this also works perfectly. When the Submit button is clicked, the form is uploaded in the background. What I don't know how to do is get these two to work together. If I use Javascript to submit the form (as shown in the MultiFile example above), the form is submitted but the JQuery.Form function is not called, so the form does not get submitted in the background. I thought that maybe I needed to change the form registration as follows... $('#photoForm').submit(function() { $('#photoForm').ajaxForm(options); }); ...but that didn't solve the problem. The same is true when I tried .ajaxSubmit instead of .ajaxForm. What am I missing? BTW: I know it might sound strange to use MultiFile for single-file uploads, but the idea is that the number of files will be dynamic based on the user's account. So, I'm starting with one but the number changes depending on conditions.

  • SWFUpload is it possible to upload multiple files to a single php script execution

    Hello, I'm trying to implement SWFUpload into an existing PHP upload funcitonality. My current backend script however expects 2 fiels to be uploaded in a single php script execution. (e.g. it excepts the $_FILES parameters to contain 2 entries). So i'm queueing 2 files with SWFUpload and start uploading them. However it appears SWFLUpload calls the php backend script for each queued file. I'd rather modify SWFUpload to send the files with a single backend script execution instead on having to adjust the backend script. Is anyone familiar with this? I've searched various resources (like the SWFUploads docs and forum, but have not found similiar topics. Thanks in advance

  • Fast single thread comet server, possible?

    I recently encountered a few cases where a server would distribute an event stream that contains the exact same data for all listeners, such as a 'recent activity' box. It occurred to me that it is quite strange and inefficient to have a server like Apache run a thread processing and querying the database for every single comet stream containing the same data. What I would do for those global(not per user) streams is run a single thread that continuously emits data, and a new (green)thread for every new request that outputs the headers and then 'merges' into the main thread. Is it possible for one thread to serve multiple sockets, or for multiple clients to listen to the same socket? An example o = event # threads received | a b # 3 o / / # 3 - |/_/ | # 1 o c # 2 a, b | / o/ # 2 a, b o # 1 a, b, c | # connection b closed o # 1 a, c Does something like this exist? Would it work?     Is it possible for two or more ASP.NET MVC sites to use a single SQL Server database for authentication and other things? Here's how I'm thinking of setting it up: I will combine the current database of each site into one single database, prefixing the tables with the name of the site they belong to. I currently have authentication tables generated by the asp.net_regsql.exe utility. How should I combine those tables? I'm guessing that the way to do it is to somehow set the "application_id" column in those tables... Thanks in advance.

I have two threads that populates data from a data source but different entities (eg: database, from two different tables), seems like single threaded version of the application is running faster than the version with two threads. Why would the reason be? when i look at the performance monitor, both cpu s are very spikey ? is this due to context switching? what are the best practices to jack the CPU and fully utilize it? I hope this is not ambiguous.

  • Single click to activate last tab in windows 7 internet explorer (like FF)

    Windows 7 annoyance: the jump lists are fine for hovering over the taskbar items, great go ahead and show me previews of all the open instances and maybe I'll pick the exact one I want. However this works different between IE and FF. Hovering over the FF icon just shows me the single FF window, not any of the tabs I have open. Clicking it means my FF window opens and I'm at the last tab I was on. Great, normal behavior, one click and I'm in. Hovering over the IE icon shows me all the tabs in my single IE window. Ok, but I just want to go back to my last active IE tab. I can't! I am forced to click twice to go back to any IE tab. Sure it's a minor annoyance, but as I'm developing throughout the day I find it more and more annoying. Any ideas to fix so I can just click the IE taskbar icon once and it pulls up the last tab I was on?

    Hi everybody, I have a strange problem sometimes when I try to merge a data table with a typed dataset my data table is filled in with a stored procedure and when I checked the content of this table it is ok, everything is in there straight after I merge it with my core typed dataset like this : MyTypedDataSet.TheTable.Clear(); MyTypedDataSet.TheTable.Merge(MyDataTable); and now if i check the table in the dataset everything is ok except only one single field on one single row which is DBNull, that makes no sense because the source data table contains the good integer vaue.   • Multiple asserts in single test?

    Let's say I want to write a function that validates an email address with a regex. I write a little test to check my function and write the actual function. Make it pass. However, I can come up with a bunch of different ways to test the same function ([email protected]; [email protected]; test.test.com, etc). Do I put all the incantations that I need to check in the same, single test with several ASSERTS or do I write a new test for every single thing I can think of? Thanks!
