  Hi, I am not sure that this is the place I can ask questions like this, but I'll give it a try. I have a Windows 7 64bit, new graphic card ASUS ENGTX260 MATRIX, installed latest graphics drivers nv19045_Win7Vista64 and ASUS Smart Doctor version 5.44. Unfortunately, after the required reboot when the smartdoctor is starting, I get an error "can not find graphics card information". I tried google, but none of that "run as admin"/"use compatibility" doesn't help. Perhaps here can I find my answers? Thanks in advance.

• "Product installation unsuccessful, please reinstall" error in CorelDraw X3 on Windows 7

  I've been using corel draw x3 and windows 7 for more than a month. I cannot remember when I last used corel draw x3. Today I've found something unusual. My PC has two account: one with admin rights and another is standard account. Corel Draw X3 runs fine on admin account, but when it is started from standard account (without admin right), it shows the following error: Product installation unsuccessful, please reinstall I could run this product definitely on standard user account last month. But it is not running now. I tried to run it with all compatibility mode: from windows 95 to vista service pack 2. For some mode, it opens and closes immediately after showing the splash screen, and for other mode it shows the above error. How to fix this problem?

I have a fresh install of a Server 2008 R2 Web that I am trying to load an application I created and tested on a Windows 7 machine running IIS 7.5 using ASP.NET 4.0. Everything works fine on the dev machine. • Windows Backup fails with 0x80070002: "The system cannot find the file specified"

  Windows 7 Backup is failing. When backing up even a single insignificant directory (e.g. I chose only the empty "Contacts" directory, leaving all other directories unchecked), I get this error within a few seconds and the backup fails. If I uncheck all files/directories, and just do the system image - then the system image is backed up OK without issue. Backup destination is an external USB hard drive. Steps to reproduce and subsequent failure: Set up backup to go to external hard drive. Don't back up system image. Back up "Contacts" directory only for my profile. Start backup. Immediately view the status of the backup, it stays on "Creating a shadow copy..." for a few seconds, and then the backup fails. Click Options button, and it says "Check your backup / The system cannot find the file specified." - with options to "Try to run backup again" or "Change backup settings".   I'm trying to install UDK, but I get the error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application. I tried re-installing .NET Framework 4 and MSVC++ Redistributable 2010 x64 with a separate uninstaller, but I still get the same error. I have had this problem both before and after reinstalling Windows 7 x64. I think it might be because UDK is 32-bit and everything else is 64-bit, but there shouldn't be any errors with backwards compatibility. How do I fix this?

• Xenserver boot error

  I'm trying to get Xenserver 5.5 running on a spare computer here, hardware specs: Intel Q6600, 4GB Ram, and Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R motherboard Xenserver itself installs fine onto a 150GB sata hdd, however it fails to boot whatsoever, giving this garbled mess: http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/9918/biosi.jpg it's not frozen because if I press enter it just prints a different garble and it also says "could not find kernel image". The strangest thing is if I put that hdd in my desktop and assign it to a VMWare desktop vm (under the ESX profile no less) it boots perfectly... leading me to believe there are no problems with the install or the hdd itself. From what I can tell the error seems to be occuring completely seperately to Xenserver, in the bootloader extlinux?. If there was a motherboard compatibility issue I would think it would also have manifested during installation, and the fact the problem seems to be with the booting into Xen makes me doubt this. Any ideas guys? (I'm using Xen because it can do PCI passthrough without VT-d.)

  I have a scenario when i have to establish peer-to-peer preshared key based VPN to a vendor. This vendor uses Cisco EasyVPN with Cisco VPN 3000 as access concentrator. I check the compatibility of the type of VPN from http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6586/ps6635/ps7180/prod_brochure0900aecd80582078.pdf and it appears that it would only work on cisco hardware. I am looking for a less inexpensive and possibly and open replacement to this to save my cost and also recommend to them. I have tried OpenVPN and thinking about vyatta.

• Edirol UA-25 driver on Windows 8 Preview

  I've installed Windows 8 developer preview on a laptop and everything is working apart from my external sound card. The sound card in question is this one, and I've tried downloading and installing the Window 7 drivers from here but no joy so far. As per the instructions I remove the USB cable from the port. I then run setup.exe and (which I have set to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode). It starts doing it's stuff then says "Please insert the USB cable and wait"......that's where things stop! Nothing happens. I don't even here the "ding-dong" of the USB device being recoginised. Obviously I realise that the drivers are for windows 7 and not 8, but was hoping that someone would be able to crowbar it to work!!! Any tips appreciated. Thanks

• OS X Snow Leopard stops processing clicks from Wacom Intuous2

  I'm using a Wacom Intuos2 graphics tablet in OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2, which works great, 80% of the time. Every 20 minutes or so, OS X to just start ignoring input from the pen. More specifically, only the pen tip is ignored - the side buttons on the pen still work. Putting the Mac to sleep and waking it back up restores functionality to the pen tip. This is using both of the latest Wacom drivers claiming compatibility with Snow Leopard: versions 6.1.2-5 (Nov 25, 2009) and 6.1.3-3 (Jan 21, 2010). I have no experience with this tablet with other version of OS X / drivers. The tablet works 100% in Windows, which leads to blame either OS X or the OS X drivers.

  Which unix like environment do you prefer on Windows? I have found Cygwin to be very comfortable for a windows platform (usually XP). I am wondering if there is a better alternative (not because I want to move away from Cygwin). What are the features of Cygwin that you like OR, What are features you find in alternatives that you miss in Cygwin? I am often miss binary compatibility of applications built on Cygwin. These cannot be run directly on another Windows platform. But, usually fetching a copy of cygwin1.dll suffices. A collection of other tools many of which work directly on the Windows subsystem rather than emulating unix, like Cygwin does. Have been referred PowerShell a lot of times for scripting on Windows Earlier, UnixUtils was suggested more often Microsoft Windows Services for Unix

• Pinnacle Studio 14 Importer crashes on Windows 7 x64

  Pinnacle Studio 14 Importer crashes on Windows 7 x64, thus I'm unable to import videos from my camcorder. I've Googled around and it seems to be a problem with x64 support in the program, but there is no info if it can somehow be remedied with Compatibility settings, XP mode. Further Googling got me this link, and none of the tips in site it links help. I've got no idea what ObjectDoct Plus 2 is (no a program or service installed by that name) which he claims causes the problem. Is that ObjectDoct critical to Pinnacle Studio and how to get rid of it (or any other advice how to make Studio 14 work on x64). UPDATE: 1) XP mode doesn't help as it doesn't handle Firewire, which is how my Canon HV20 must be connected to transfer HDV from tape. 2) I don't have that ObjectDock installed. 3) I don't wanna re-buy PS15 just to get this solved as PS14 should be able to do it.

  We need to build a new web server for our organization. We have around 100 hundred small traffic web sites, so our hardware requirements are not too tough. We run CentOS 6, Varnish+Apache, PHP, MySQL, Typo3 CMS for most of websites. Here's a hardware we want to buy: SuperMicro X9SCA-F-O (we need to have a remote management capability) (or better X9SCM-F?) Intel Xeon E3-1220 v2 2*4Gb DDR-III 1600MHz Kingston ECC (KVR16E11/4) (currently we have 4gb, and it feels like enough, so no reason for 16gb yet). Procase EB140-B-0 (1 unit) PSU 350W Procase MG1350, Active PFC We already have: Intel 335 120GB SSD (for OS, databases and important websites). 2*2tb WD Green RAID1 (for other data and backups). Does it look like a reasonable choice for our needs? Any issues with hardware compatibility? Any other notes?

• Burn DVD mastered format DVD+R

  Using windows Vista, can I write DVD+R discs using mastered format? I've followed the instructions here But when I get to step 6, it gives an error "There was an error burning this disc. The disc might no longer be usable" There are no dollar signs in my files or extensions, and I have plenty of free space on my HD. I can successfully make a data disc using "live" format. Unfortunately my colleges home (XP) PC is unable to read it, despite the fact that it works on other XP machines at work... so I thought I'd try making a mastered one for greater compatibility. Any ideas?

  Hello, I am looking for a solution on a LAMP server to keep a site cookieless such as "example.com", where static content is served from "static.example.com", and with rules in place to rewrite requests for "www.example.com" to "example.com". I am really hoping to avoid setting up a cookieless domain for the static content due to an unanswered SEO concern with regards to CNAMEing to a CDN. Is there a way, (or safe hack), that can be implemented where a second domain such as "www.example2.com" is CNAMEd, aliased, or otherwise used with "example.com" to somehow trick a php application into maintaining state with a cookie dropped on "www.example2.com" therefore keeping all of "example.com" cookieless? If such a solution is feasible, what implications would exists with regards to SSL and cross-browser compatibility other than requiring users to accept cookies from 3rd party domains and possibly needing an additional SSL to keep the cookie secure? • 8GB, but have to run Windows Xp (32 Bit). Anything I can do with the additional memory?

  I ordered a new computer with 8GB RAM with the plan to run Windows 7, 64Bit. Turns out now, that I need to run a 32Bit OS (XP or 7) due to some software which does not run on 64Bit yet (not even with any of the available compatibility settings / modes). Is there anything I can do with the memory above 4GB in this scenario? I'm willing to consider creative solutions like running a hypervisor under XP that offers the memory as a RAM-Disk for swapping etc. ? The software that does not run on 64Bit is CISCO VPN (there seems to be a half-working solution for that) and CISCO IP phone / webcam integration "CISCO Unified Video Advantage" (there is apparently no solution for that).

  I'm getting an error message: "unsupported compression method 98" when unzipping a file somebody sent to me. I've tried both an older version of WinZip, and 7-Zip 4.65. I've already asked the person to avoid using a non-standard compression method and re-send the file. I know WinZip (of which they are using a newer version) has compatibility options. But, I'm wondering: What archiving utilities, other than WinZip, support this "compression method 98"? In particular, is there a free and/or open source tool that supports that method? If not, why not? Is the method strictly proprietary to WinZip?

• Is it possible to have a computer run two OS's in memory at the same time?

  I'm sick of needing to reboot my computer every time I wish to use another OS, or run a virtual machine that skimps on power. With the onset of large amounts of memory for computers nowadays I began to think that there must be some way to run two OS's in memory with a way to switch between the two. In my mind, it doesn't seem too difficult; a compatibility layer boots up after bios, which in turn boots to OS1. While in OS1, software is run that triggers a save to ram boots back to the compatability layer, and then boots to OS2. This way, the OS's can be used side by side and boot times are cut drastically short since both OSs are already in ram. Both OS's have their own designated and protected memory so there is no problem there... I mean, it seems fine, but no one has done it, so there must be some reason as to why. I would love some insight into this please.

However, at the moment Onlive is only for remotely controlling video games, and not desktops or other devices in general. I'm in pursuit of software or services that can accomplish this as well as Onlive does. I need: viewer (client) program portability (able to run on a USB stick) DirectX, OpenGL / full-screen game compatibility on the server side.** Gaming-acceptable color/scaling quality and responsiveness. I have a very powerful desktop at home and I want to be able to access this raw power from any other computer that I stick my USB into (in the same way Onlive gives gamers use of their powerful servers) What software/services has most of the above? • Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS on Hyper-V 2012

  I have the following scenario: Hyper-V 2012 server core installation. On top of this i created a virtual machine on which i tried installing Ubuntu Server 12.04 which should not have any compatibility issues according to what Microsoft and Ubuntu are saying (although it is not officially supported). I start, run the installation and everything is ok, no problems detecting the network device or the hard drive (unlike debian which didn't even detect the hard drive). Once the installation is complete it asks me to reboot, it unmounts the "dvd drive" and reboots. Once it tries to start again i get the following error: Boot failure. Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in the selected Boot device. It seems to not be booting up from the virtual hard drive. The hard drive is set up in SCSI mode, nothing mounted on the IDE controller (no iso image or anything else. Does anyone have any ideas on what i can do to solve this?

  I am trying to setup my own new computer. I haven't done this before and hence needed guidance from all here. I can google out the results for steps to follow for setting up my machine, but I do not understand what components are compatible with each other? For example there must be specific models of motherboard that are compatible with Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz. In general, if there is a website that can guide me on all compatible components, that would be great. If not, how would I be able to check compatibility?

  I am not sure if this is more of a coding issue or server setup issue so I've posted it on stackoverflow and here... On our production site we've run into an issue that is specific to Internet Explorer 10. I am using jQuery doing an ajax POST to a web service on the same domain and in IE10 I am getting a 401 response, IE9 works perfectly fine. I should mention that we have mirrored code in another area of our site and it works perfectly fine in IE10. The only difference between the two areas is that one is under a subdomain and the other is at the root level. www.my1stdomain.com vs. portal.my2nddomain.com The directory structure on the server for these are: \my1stdomain\webservice\name\service.aspx \portal\webservice\name\service.aspx Inside of the \portal\ and \my1stdomain\ folders I have a page that does an ajax call, both pages are identical. $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: '/webservice/name/service.aspx/function', cache: false, contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', dataType: 'json', data: '{ "json": "data" }', success: function() { }, error: function() { } }); I've verified permissions are the same on both folders on the server side. I've applied a workaround fix of placing the <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" value="IE=9"> to force compatibility view (putting IE into compatibility mode fixes the issue). This seems to be working in IE10 on Windows 7, however IE 10 on Windows 8 still sees the same issue. These pages are classic asp with the headers that are being included, also there are no other meta tags being used. • Error adding 4tb LUN (Raw Device Mapping) to ESX4 VM

  Hi guys, I'm trying to map an existing 4tb LUN from a Fibre Channel SAN, through to a VM in my ESX4 environment. It keeps telling me that the VMDK file size exceeds the the maximum size supported by the datastore. I've tried in Physical compatibility mode, and also both Virtual styles. I'm a little confused by this as we had the same LUN mapped through to another VM when we were running ESX3.5... I've also noticed that some of my other RAW mappings are generating extremely large VMDK files on the ESX servers. Does anyone know if this change in behaviour is intentional? And if so why? It doesn't seem to me that if the LUN is mapped directly to the VM that it's size should be relevant. We're running 4.0.0 build 236512, and 4.0.0 build 219382 and I've not had any success on either. Any insight or advice would be much appreciated! TG

• Installing 64-bit Ubuntu alongside 32-bit Ubuntu?

  I have a 64-bit processor in my PC, but because of worries over application compatibility, up until now I have been using 32-bit Ubuntu (and 32-bit Vista because Dell wouldn't sell me 64-bit with my PC). Is it possible for me to install 64-bit Ubuntu alongside 32-bit ubuntu and 32-bit Windows Vista, so I can choose between them at boot and share data, and without uninstalling my 32-bit Ubuntu? My partitions are as follows Drive 1: 10 GB Vista recovery partition (E:), 240 GB Windows NTFS parition (230 GB used, C:). Drive 2: 167 GB Windows NTFS Partition (130 GB used, D: ), 8 GB swap partition, 13 GB / partition (6 GB used), 62 GB /home partition (20 GB used).
