• Problems integrating nServiceBus with StructureMap

  I'm trying to use StructureMap with nServiceBus. The Project: Uses a GenericHost Endpoint to send command messages Configures nServiceBus using the StructMapBuilder. Uses a simple StructureMap registry config Uses a start up class TestServer supporting IWantToRunAtStartup The TestServer class has ctor dependency on a TestManager class The TestManager class has ctor dependency on IBus ObjectFactory.WhatDoIHave() shows StructureMap knows how to construct the classes. When run I get buildup errors. nServiceBus seems to be overwriting the config? Note that when I add a IBus ctor depenendency to my event handlers without any other config all appears fine. Error: Exception when starting endpoint, error has been logged.   If I'm not wrong, because of its nature in factory method there is cyclic dependency: Base class needs to know subclasses because it creates them, and subclasses need to know base class. Having cyclic dependency is bad programming practice, is not it?   I am using M2Eclipse (0.10.0, Maven 3)in projects. I can add Maven dependency using m2eclipse. But dependency jars couldn't be downloaded. Instead, it created a file in each local repo folder named [JAR_Name].jar.lastupdate. The content of this file is some thing like : http\://[REPO_URL]/central/=1276221188566 Even using Maven 3 command line. Jars couldn't be downloaded. Any idea about how could this happen?

• How to set which version of the VC++ runtime Visual Studio 2005 targets

  I have an application that contains a VC++ project (along with C# projects). Previously, (i.e. during the last year or so) when a build has been done, Visual Studio 2005 appears to be targeting the VC++ runtime version 8.0.50727.762. At least, that is what the Assembly.dll.intermediate.manifest file is telling me: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes'?> <assembly xmlns='urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1' manifestVersion='1.0'> <dependency> <dependentAssembly> <assemblyIdentity type='win32' name='Microsoft.VC80.CRT' version='8.0.50727.762' processorArchitecture='x86' publicKeyToken='1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b' /> </dependentAssembly> </dependency> </assembly> This version number matches the Visual Studio 2005 version number. The application worked fine when deployed to the webserver. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and all was right with the world. Now something has changed. I don't know what - a security patch, an obscure Visual Studio setting or something. I can absolutely guarantee that nothing at all has changed in the solution - we zip up the entire contents of the solution as part of the build process and archive it. I have unzipped a number of these to a temp directory, verified that the previous manifest file refers to 8.0.50727.762, recompiled using exactly the same command at the command line and then verified that the new manifest file now refers to 8.0.50727.4053. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600) and Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 77646-008-0000007-41610. Why would Visual Studio revert to a previous version of the VC++ runtime? How do I specify which version it should use? What is going wrong here?

• How to remove the explicit dependencies to other projects' libraries in Eclipse launch configuration

  In Eclipse it is possible to create launch configurations in a project, specifying the runtime dependencies from another project. A problem I found was that if you have a multiple project workspace, being possible that each project has its own libraries, it is easy to add explicit dependencies in a secondary project to libraries that are of another project and therefore subject to change. An example of this problem follows: proj1 +-- src +-- lib +-- jar1-v1.0.jar +-- jar2-v1.0.jar proj2 +-- src +-- proj2-tests.launch I don't have a dependency from the code in proj2/src to the libraries in proj1/lib. Nevertheless, I do have a dependency from proj2/src to proj1/src, although since there is an internal dependency in the code in proj1/src to its libraries jar1-v1.0.jar and jar2.v1.0.jar, I have to add a dependency in proj2-tests.launch to the libraries in proj1/lib. Consider that you have about 10 projects in one workspace, having about 5 libraries each and about 4 launch configurations. You get a maintenance overhead in doing a simple upgrade of a library, which normally must imply changes in files for which there wasn't the need for. Or maybe I'm doing something wrong... What I would like to state is proj2 depends on proj1 and on its libraries and having this translated to simply that in the *.launch files. Is that possible?

• When mocking a class with Moq, how can I CallBase for just specific methods?

  I really appreciate Moq's Loose mocking behaviour that returns default values when no expectations are set. It's convenient and saves me code, and it also acts as a safety measure: dependencies won't get unintentionally called during the unit test (as long as they are virtual). However, I'm confused about how to keep these benefits when the method under test happens to be virtual. In this case I do want to call the real code for that one method, while still having the rest of the class loosely mocked. All I have found in my searching is that I could set mock.CallBase = true to ensure that the method gets called. However, that affects the whole class. I don't want to do that because it puts me in a dilemma about all the other properties and methods in the class that hide call dependencies: if CallBase is true then I have to either Setup stubs for all of the properties and methods that hide dependencies -- Even though my test doesn't think it needs to care about those dependencies, or Hope that I don't forget to Setup any stubs (and that no new dependencies get added to the code in the future) -- Risk unit tests hitting a real dependency. Q: With Moq, is there any way to test a virtual method, when I mocked the class to stub just a few dependencies? I.e. Without resorting to CallBase=true and having to stub all of the dependencies? • How to find and fix issue with Pound and HAProxy

  Pound sits in front of HAProxy (on the same box) to perform SSL off-load. Requests are passed to 127.0.0.1:80 where HAProxy then balances the requests across backend servers for a hosted ASP .NET web app. A user is getting HTTP error 500 (Internal Server Error) returned to their browser this morning and I can see it is comming from Pound. They see no log entry in their web app (IIS) server logs, so its not hitting the back end servers. I think the problem is possibly with HAProxy.   I installed Ruby on WinXP. Used rubyinstaller-1.8.6-p383-rc1.exe. Ran gem install rake Get error: Error installing rake: invalid gem format for C:/Ruby/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/cache/rake-0.8.7.gem I've tried deleting the cache folder but i keep getting the same error.
