• Modifying annotation attribute value at runtime in java

• Web based KVM management for Ubuntu

  We've got a single Ubuntu 9.10 root server on which we want to run multiple KVM virtual machines. To administer these virtual machines I'd like a web based KVM management tool, but I don't know which one to choose from the list of tools mentioned on linux-kvm.org. I've used virsh & virt-manager on my desktop, but would like a web interface for the server. I tested ConVirt on my desktop, but it failed to pickup KVM machines from virsh / virt-manager, and I could not get KVM virtual machine import to work (only Xen). oVirt looks good, but I can't find out if and how I can install it on Ubuntu 9.10.. (And I'd really rather not waste another few days on testing stuff that might not work in the end.) Can anyone recommend any good web based KVM management tools that are easy to install on Ubuntu 9.10? I'm looking for something that will also allow me to run other services like apache and postgresql besides hosting virtual machines, so preferably fairly lightweight & no dedicated OS installs. We don't need any professional clustering / migration or anything, just something that will let us create, start, inspect, administer & stop virtual machines from a web page. • Reusing slot numbers in Linux software RAID arrays

  When a hard disk drive in one of my Linux machines failed, I took the opportunity to migrate from RAID5 to a 6-disk software RAID6 array. At the time of the migration I did not have all 6 drives - more specifically the fourth and fifth (slots 3 and 4) drives were already in use in the originating array, so I created the RAID6 array with a couple of missing devices. I now need to add those drives in those empty slots. Using mdadm --add does result in a proper RAID6 configuration, with one glitch - the new drives are placed in new slots, which results in this /proc/mdstat snippet: ... md0 : active raid6 sde1[7] sdd1[6] sda1[0] sdf1[5] sdc1[2] sdb1[1] 25185536 blocks super 1.0 level 6, 64k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/6] [UUUUUU] ... mdadm -E verifies that the actual slot numbers in the device superblocks are correct, yet the numbers shown in /proc/mdstat are still weird. I would like to fix this glitch, both to satisfy my inner perfectionist and to avoid any potential sources of future confusion in a crisis. Is there a way to specify which slot a new device should occupy in a RAID array? UPDATE: I have verified that the slot number persists in the component device superblock. For the version 1.0 superblocks that I am using that would be the dev_number field as defined in include/linux/raid/md_p.h of the Linux kernel source. I am now considering direct modification of said field to change the slot number - I don't suppose there is some standard way to manipulate the RAID superblock?

  Hey All Let me explain you the scenario upto now.. Been a newbie to Joomla I managed to build my own website using Joomla CMS in my computers localhost. Then after the completion of the site, I wanted to upload my Local Joomla Site to a GoDaddy Server / Hosting Account.. Thanks to Google I found the below mentioned tutorial, http://zensamarketing.com/2009/07/how-to-use-joomlapack-and-kickstart-to-upload-your-local-joomla-site-to-a-godaddy-server-hosting-account/ So far I completed up to the 7th step, But I'm stuck at the step 08. I'm using Filezilla as my FTP client, Using that I uploaded the files as per the guided on step 07 and when I try to access www.mysitename.com/kickstart.php, it is giving me the below error, Forbidden You don't have permission to access /kickstart.php on this server. Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. How can I set permission... Please explain in a non technical way.. • Can a Client Link to My JavaScript, Hosted on a Different Domain?

  Is it possible for me to supply a client with a snippet of HTML which contains a reference to a javascript file that I host? They want to paste this HTML into their CMS, so that when their page loads, it'll load our content. I was under the impression that there was cross domain security preventing this from being possible. What if, instead of linking to the JavaScript, I gave them the snippet of HTML with the JavaScript already included so instead of <div> <!-- link to js --> </div> I gave them <div> $.get(/*url to my content*/); </div> Would that work?

  We're going to build a Solution which includes acquiring data through mobile phones(J2ME) and laptops(browser based data acquisition), uploading the same data to back-end servers(built with J2EE) and then analyzing the same data including generating various types of reports. This solution will include a CMS for building the website and various interfaces for various types of users. I'm to do a "Solutions Architecture" document for the same. • Can we do a DNSSEC 101? [closed]

  Please share your opinions, FAQs, HOWTOs, best practices (or links to the one you think is the best) and your fears and thoughts about the whole migration (or should I just call it a new piece of tech?). Is DNSSEC just for DNS providers (name server operators)? What ought John Doe to do, who hosts johndoe.com at some random provider (GoDaddy, DreamHost and such)? Also, what if the provider's name server doesn't do automatic signing magic, can John do it manually? In a fire-and-forget way, without touching KSKs and ZSKs rollovers and updating and headaches?) Does it bring any change regarding CERT records? Do browsers support it? How come it became so complex? Why didn't they just merged it with SSL? DKIM is pretty straightforward, IANA/IETF could've opted for something like that. (Yes I know that creating a trust anchor would be still problematic, but browsers are already full of CA certs. So, they could've just let anyone get a cert for a domain for shiny green padlocks, or just generate one for a poor blue lock, put it into a TXT record, encrypt the other records and let the parent zone sign the whole for you with its cert.) • Fresh install CentOS 6.4 64b with directadmin slowly consumes all memory and crashes

  Dear server fault community, This is my first question on server fault, i'm new to server (mis)configuration so please forgive me for asking something stupid :) I'm running Directadmin on a CentOS 6.4 64b with 4GB memory and over 10000Gh virtual machine. I migrated my websites because my former vps couldn't keep up anymore. Only half of the websites from this 1GB machine were migrated jet. So the migration is still in progress and already my server crashes every day. The server performance up until that moment is perfect. The directadmin log files show nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday only the mysql server crashed but it also crashed the entire machine before. The commands: # sync # echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches Will free al memory correct. I could just create a cronjob but it seems the wrong way around to me. I can't seem to pinpoint the cause. Any advices, references or tips are highly appreciated! • Exchange emails not delivering for one user

  We have an Exchange infrastructure going through a migration from 2003 SP2 (call it ExOld) to 2010 (ExNew). All users are now on the new server, but mail is still being directed to ExOld until testing is complete. ExNew sends emails directly to the internet. For one particular user, emails don't seem to be being reliably delivered, but the odd thing is that it's not all emails. I can see external emails in his inbox. If I send an internal email it works fine. If I send an email from Gmail to him it doesn't get through. If I telnet from outside to ExOld I can send an email to him. If I telnet from outside to ExNew I can send an email to him. • How to create a 'Hot or Not' website

  Hi guys, I'd like to create a website with similar concept as 'Hot or Not' where users need to sign up to the website and then upload photos. Each photo can be given a description and some additional fields. Other users may comment and rate the photo entries. On top of that, users may favourite/bookmark (and remove) any photo entries and they're accessible via their profile page That's generally how the website will be. Can't decide on a CMS to use Somehow I'm at a crossroad here. I've done some research and found that Joomla has an extension that is able to pull this website off but the thing is I'm not that comfortable with using Joomla. I work with WordPress most of the time, but I can't seem to figure out how would I build this website with WordPress. Would using BuddyPress make it work? Would hiring a plugin developer to customize some plugins work? What do you guys think?

  I'm using WordPress as CMS for a site I'm developing. When I'm browsing posts, I can use Next/Previous links to walk between posts. I want to have the same thing on pages. Page A Page B Page C Page A should link to next sibling Page B. Page B should link to previous sibling Page A and next sibling Page C. Page C should link to previous sibling Page B. Is there any plugin you can recommend that generates these links? I know there are some plugins that do this, but I specifically want one that hooks into my current theme automatically. I know how to edit the theme, but that would brick my site whenever a theme update is available. I'm using the LightWord WordPress theme.

  (1) I have a site that serves up MP3 files: http://domain/files/1234567890.mp3 (2) I have a php script that tracks file download counts: http://domain/modules/download_counter.php?file=/files/1234567890.mp3 After download_counter.php records the download, it redirects to the original file: Header("Location: $FQDN_url"); (3) I'd like all my public links to be presented as the direct file urls from (1). I'm trying to use Apache to redirect the requests to download_counter.php: RewriteRule ^files/(.+\.mp3)$ /modules/download_counter.php?file=/files/$1 [L] I'm currently stuck on (3), as it results in a redirect loop, since download_counter.php simply redirects the request back to the original file (rather than streaming the file contents). I'm also motivated to use download_counter.php as is (without modifying it's redirect behaviour). This is because the script is part of a larger CMS module, and I'd like to avoid complicating my upgrade path. Perhaps there is no solution to my problem (other than modifying the download_counter script). WDYT?

• Get products to display on custom Magento page

  How can you get products to display on a custom Magento page? Naturally, this is not an uncommon question but nothing that I've seen has solved it for me. The common response is to put the following code in through the CMS editor: {{block type="catalog/product_list" name="home.catalog.product.list" alias="products_homepage” template=”catalog/product/list.phtml”}} Which just displays the message "There are no products matching the selection." on my page. Other websites advise reindexing the data through the Magento admin controls, clearing the Magento cache, and making sure products are set to a store, none of which helped in my case. Anyone have any ideas?

• How to extract attachments from Exchange 2003 database

  I have an ancient Exchange 2003 server that I'm getting ready to retire. All user accounts have been migrated to Google Apps for Business, so no new mail is being sent or received on the server. There are less than 50 accounts on the server, but some are very large so that the whole Exchange database is between 10 and 20 GB. The largest account has over 100,000 messages. I believe that in the migration to Gmail, some attachments were not migrated. For peace of mind, I'd like to get the attachments out of the Exchange database. The only way I know of to do this is to set up a 2nd computer with Outlook on it, set up one of the accounts, and then sync the whole mail history and get the attachments out that way. Is there something simpler that I can do? Here are two possibilities: An Exchange attachment retrieval tool/script that pulls attachments for all accounts directly out of the Exchange database. An Exchange PST exporter tool/script that will export PST files for all accounts so that I can just load the PST files into Outlook at will.

  I'm planning to develop a city info site. The web pages will display contents from a constantly updating MySQL database- most probably using a CMS. I am planning to share the same database for a Mobile app related to this. In the pages there are options for using geolocation, rate and comment for the user. I think, this mobile app should work while it's offline too. So how should i deal with data for mobile? Should i use a connection between MySQL and IndexedDB? (I'm not quite sure about this part). The FC figures out what page you want, loads the specific page Controller (*EDIT* which extends an abstract Controller Object */EDIT*), which gets anything it needs from Models, and then calls the appropriate View. Very basic. But now, I need to make an admin section (quasi-CMS). How does a login system fit into the grand scheme of things? Do you set controllers as needing a login? If so, how? What If you only want certain views of a controller requiring login? Thanks in advance.

• Mysql query taking too much time

  I have problem related to mysql database. i am linux webserver admin and i am facing a problem with a mysql query. The database is very small. I tried to track in logs and found that a query is taking minimum 5 sec to respond . The first page of site is coming from the database. Client are using cms. when the server gets some number of hits database server starts to give response very slowly and wait time increases from 5 sec to several seconds. Is there any way tweak the performance?

• Is there any way to synchronize AD users with Office 365 but still be able to edit them online?

  I'm performing a migration to Office 365 from a third-party mail server (MDaemon); the local Active Directory doesn't include any Exchange server, and never had any. We will need directory synchronization in order to enable users to log on to Office 365 using their domain credentials; but it seems that as soon as you enable directory synchronization, you can't perform any action anymore on Office 365 users: all changes need to be made on the local Active Directory, and then replicated by the synchronization process. For ordinary users with a single e-mail address and standard features, this is not a big problem; but what about users which need an additional address? What if I need to configure some nonstandard setting, like "hide from address list" or a custom mailbox quota? From what I've gathered, the only supported way to do this, as you can't directly edit Office 365 objects anymore after synchronization is enabled, is to extend the local AD schema with Exchange attributes, and then manually edit them (!). Or, you can install at least one local Exchange server, and then use the Exchange administrative tools to configure the required settings. Is this correct or am I missing something? Is there any way to synchronize user accounts and password, but still be able to edit user settings directly in Office 365? If not (everything really needs to be set locally and then synchronized), is there any simpler way to do this than manually editing LDAP attributes or installing a local Exchange server?

Our first plan is to move the code into code behinds per file, then refactor etc... were doing this to upgrade the client to the latest version of their cms At the moment we are going to have to manually copy and paste hundreds files, convert the namespace client-side imports into usings, etc... does anybody PLEASE know of a tool that can do the majority of this work for us ? • Turbogears 2 vs Django - any advice on choosing replacement for Turbogears 1?

  I have been using Turbogears 1 for prototyping small sites for the last couple of years and it is getting a little long in the tooth. Any suggestions on making the call between upgrading to Turbogears 2 or switching to something like Django? I'm torn between the familiarity of the TG community who are pretty responsive and do pretty good documentation vs the far larger community using Django. I am quite tempted by the built-in CMS features and the Google AppEngine support. Any advice? Thanks .M.

• Wordpress page grouping

  Is there any way to group/folder my pages in Wordpress. Pages as in pages, not posts. In case I'm using it as a CMS and have, say, 200 pages. 10 main pages and the rest are all sub-pages. It'd be really inconvenient to see all the pages as a one huge lists. I know I could use posts and categories, as I won't be needing the blog functionality anyway, and even if I did need it, I could make it work anyway. Thing is, I'd lose a bit functionality this way and it's unfortunately not an option for me. I have looked around and Googled but so far with no results. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has come to wonder about that.

  Hi guys. I am migrating my 1.8.7 rails app to rails 3. But I have a problem with a partial: I have the following partial: in my cms controller : @clients = Client.all group = render_to_string :layout = 'layouts/window', :partial = 'clients/index' in my "clients/index" partial: <%= render :partial = 'clients/item', :collection = @clients % This worked great with rails 1.7.8 but with rails 3 only the partial in the index get's rendered!. So, to clarify this, the group variable in the controller doesn't get the html from the layout. Also the weird thing is that the window layout is _window.erb (if I do window.html.erb or just window.erb rails can't find it which is strange). Does anybody know if this behavior is normal for rails 3? thanxs!

• How do I change the URL Alias for Security/login in SilverStripe to user/login

  I am working on a new website being built in SilverStripe. Currently I am having a ton of trouble trying to get the system to let me change the URL alias (or create a second one) for the Security controller's login (and eventually logout) function. I have tried playing around with the routes.yml file and I tried creating the paths in my own UserController and loading directly from the Security controller with "return Security::login()". But that gives me errors about the use of the static functions. Unfortunately I don't come from a ton of object oriented experience and this is the first CMS I have used that actually uses a bunch of true object orientation. The current version of SilverStripe we are using is 3.0 (but we will be upgrading to 3.1.1 in a few days). Does anyone know much about the routing in SilverStripe?
