    I have a string value coming from a label in the .aspx page as following. string text = Price.Text; // Price.Text = "$31.07" Single value = Convert.ToSingle(text); //throws FormatException I can replace the $ sign with the empty text and then Convert to Single but I was wondering if there is better way to de-format the text with the '$' sign into a Single.

Any way to reduce the number of conditions above?

  • vim unicode bufread/bufwrite script

    Problem: I want my unicode characters to be stored on disk as (rather tan utf8/16 encoding) \u#### However, I want them dispalyed as unicode characters when opened up in vim. I think the easiest way to acheive this is some bufopen/bufwrite script that automatically: on opening, convert \u#### to unicode character on writing, convert unicode characters into \u#### However, I don't know what functions to call to make this happen. Can someone lend a hand? Thanks!

    I have the C# Dll (ABService) deployed in COM + and my os Is windows 2008. I have given the strong name for this dll and its dependent dll’s When I access the method of this dll through localhost or if I add the reference to the client project the method are executed successfully. Simply if I access the dll from the same machine with the reference it is working. So I think there is no problem with the way I deployed in the COM +. I have the doubt whether I have the problem in OS and Visual Studio 2008 combination. I have built all the dll with the Visual Studio 2008 with Target cpu as x86 and targert framework as 2.0.     In this section of a function (.NET 2.0): public void AttachInput(T input, int inIndex) where T : struct { if (input is int) { Inputs.Add(inIndex, (int)input); InputCount++; IsResolved = false; } } The compiler shows the error "Cannot convert type 'T' to 'int'. So, I used Convert.ToInt32() which worked - but does it box input to an object? Is there a better solution? Thanks

    we have a large table (5608782 rows and growing) that has 3 columns Zip1,Zip2, distance all columns are currently int, we would like to convert this table to use varchars for international usage but need to do a mass import into the new table convert zip < 5 digits to 0 padded varchars 123 becomes 00123 etc. is there a way to do this short of looping over each row and doing the translation programmaticly?

    I'm looking to convert single digit numbers to two-digit numbers like so: 9 ==> 09 5 ==> 05 12 == 12 4 ==> 04 I figure I could put a bunch of if-else statements (if number is under 10, then do a gsub) but figure that's horrible coding. I know Rails has number_with_precision but I see that it only applies to decimal numbers. Any ideas on how to convert single-digits to two-digits?

They all can implicitly convert to a string public static implicit operator A(string sz_) { ... return sz; } I have code that does this object AClassWhichImplicitlyConvertsToString { ... ((KnownType)(String)AClassWhichImplicitlyConvertsToString).KnownFunc() } The problem is, AClassWhichImplicitlyConvertsToString isnt a string even though it can be typecast into one implicitly. I get a bad cast exception. How do i say its ok as long as the class has an operator to convert into a string?

    I have a struct like this, with an explicit conversion to float: struct TwFix32 { public static explicit operator float(TwFix32 x) { ... } } I can convert a TwFix32 to int with a single explicit cast: (int)fix32 But to convert it to decimal, I have to use two casts: (decimal)(float)fix32 There is no implicit conversion from float to either int or decimal. Why does the compiler let me omit the intermediate cast to float when I'm going to int, but not when I'm going to decimal?
