• Is this possible with Sql 2005 CTE?

  I have been working on a query that will return a suggested start date for a manufacturing line based on due date and the number of minutes needed to complete the task. There is a calendar table(LINE_ID, CALENDAR_DATE, SCHEDULED_MINUTES) that displays per manufacturing line, the number of minutes scheduled for that day. Example: (Usually 3 shifts worth of time scheduled per day, no weekends but can vary) 1, 06/8/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/7/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/6/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/5/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/4/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 In order to get the suggested start date, I need to start with the due date and iterate downward through the days until i have accumulated enough time to complete the task. My Question can something like this be done with CTE, or is this something that should be handled by a cursor. Or... am i just going about this the wrong way completely??

  I am trying to compute a rolling window (shifting by 1 day) covariance matrix for a number of assets. Say my df looks like this: df <- data.frame(x = 0:4, y = 5:9,z=1:5,u=4:8) How would a possible for loop look like if I want to calculate a covariance matrix on a rolling basis by shifting the rolling window by 1 day? Or should I use some apply family function? What time series class would be preferrable if I want to create a time series object for the loop above? I simply can't get it... Best Regards

  Hi, Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to do video recording? We have a camera that can record and then stream live video to a server. So this means we can have 1000's of cameras sending data 24X7 for recording. We will store data for over 7 / 14 / 30 days depending on the package. Per day if a camera is sending data to the server then it will store 1.5GB. So that means there is a traffic of 1.5GB / day / camera Total monthly 45GB / month / camera (Data + bandwidth for one camera) Please let me know the most cost effective way to get this data stored?   Don't know if this is possible, but I'd like to select records based on the field value of recur_type, where the 'm' is the day of the week. • Running applictions via ruby and multi-core support? (OSX)

  Hi All, I'm looking for some tutorials/resources/tips that will show me how to run applications via a ruby script. I have several small tools that we use in our day to day operations that I want to manage their tasks in one ruby script. Basically what I'm trying to do is: run app via ruby script. (wait for result) get result code (success, or error msg) if ok, start the app on its next task. Also each of the tasks are independent so I'd like to take advantage of the 8 cores on my MacPro and run 8 instances at a time. Any resources you could point me towards would be greatly appreciated!

• How to remove a single event in a recuring event

  hi all. I' m having an issue with fullCalendar. I created a script that, adds an event to fullCalendar, along a day range, and set a unique id in order to have this event recur. let say for example that i have a recuring event from 1/1/10 till 10/1/10. i create 10 single event Objects with the same id, and place then on fullCalendar. my question is, that i want to exclude a single day over this recuring event. (for example 3/1/10). i found out, that if i remove that particural event from the sources table and then update the event its fine. but how can i get on runtime the actucal index of this eventObj on sources table? Note that, i add the events on the fullCalendar using the .fullCalendar("renderEvent") method. Thanks.

  I am trying to parse a string timestamp of format "yyyyMMddHHmmss" with DateTime.ParseExact(). The catch is I must allow for an hour value of "24" (i.e. hours can be from 0 to 24; Note: I can't control the input values.) and, of course, that results in an exception. Are there any settings/properties I can set instead of manually parsing/using regex's? If not, any efficient parsing ideas? ex. DateTime.ParseExact("20120911240000", "yyyyMMddHHmmss", System.Globalization.CultureInfo.InvariantCulture); hour 24 means hour 0 of next day (so day + 1, hour = 0)

• Can't fill a column of NULLs with actual values by making an association to the proper values in the

  I have a table with separate columns for months, days and a varchar column for 6 hour increments for each day ('12AM', '6AM', '12PM', '6PM'). There's also a column that's supposed to have calculated numeric values for each of those 6 hour increments. These calculated values come from some reference table. This reference table contains values for each day for several months broken down by hour where each hour has its own column. So, basically, I have to add the values for each 6 hour increment. I have no idea how to associate the correct values in the reference table to those 6 hour increments. I will really appreciate any help on this.

  I have an API which looks like /summary/yyyy/mm Which returns the summary of their data for the year and month requested. One of the things it returns the number of days left if this is current year and month. For example: days_left: 9 for 2013 and 10 and current date on server is 21 Oct 2013 How I calculate remaining days? The server is in east coast and the client(me with browser) is on pacific time zone When its 9PM PST the time changes in east coast, so if I run hit /summary/2013/10 and if it is Oct 21 2013 for me on PST, the date has already changed on EST, so days_left: 8 which is incorrect on client end. right? How do I handle this situation?

• Does deleting temporary symlinks interrupt current downloads/access to that symlink?

  I am using symlinks generated in PHP. They are generated when someone requests a download, and I want them to expire at the end of each day. The problem is, what if someone starts downloading a symlink 1 minute before the end of the day and then I delete the symlink while they are downloading it... My question is, to your knowledge will that individual downloading the symlink, right before I delete it, still be able to "download" the file? I am not worried about "resumable download" capability.. but will it make their download stop or break in some way?

• Eclipse + CVS use custom commit

  Hi All, My admin has set up the "cvs commit" in a very non traditional way, instead of typing "cvs commit" I use the admin provided "scriptname modified file" to checkin the file to CVS. I am using Eclipse to my day to day work and till now I am using the Eclipse CVS Plugin to checkout the repo,update,compare,etc and use the command line to checkin. I am getting annoyed by having to go to command line to do the commit, is there any way I can make Eclipse accept when I say commit it invokes the admin script instead of "cvs commit" ? I spoke to Admin and moving the under the cvs pre-commit hooks is not an option. What can I do ? I know fair amount of "Java" I am willing to do some changes to CVS plugin if I know how and where. • Why is 1942/4/3 00:00:00 an illegal date in java.util.Calendar?

  Is there something special in the date 3rd of April 1942? For some reason the the hour of day 0 (12:00 am) is illegal for this specific date. The date is accepted when a lenient calendar is used but the hour of day is incremented to 1 (1:00 am). Relevant code java.util.Calendar calendar = java.util.Calendar.getInstance(); calendar.clear(); calendar.setLenient(false); calendar.set(1942, 3, 3, 0, 0, 0); calendar.getTimeInMillis(); Exception java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: HOUR_OF_DAY at java.util.GregorianCalendar.computeTime(Unknown Source) at java.util.Calendar.updateTime(Unknown Source) at java.util.Calendar.getTimeInMillis(Unknown Source) I'd really prefer is the dates were not lenient as I don't want to accept impossible dates.

• Ruby on Rails - Calendar Display

  We want to create a calendar view in a room scheduling application. The outcome we want is to have hours open (variable depending on day) across the top of the grid and the names of the rooms down the left side of the grid. The body would be populated with bookings for that day. The visual we're seeking is similar to the "Weekly Builder" plugin for Rails (http://dmix.ca/2009/06/weeklybuilder-a-weekly-calendar-plugin-for-rails/). We've tried using CSS to create variably-sized images, but this isn't working out. Are there any plugins available or other ways anyone can think of to accomplish this kind of visual? Thanks

• NOT LIKE not working on comparison to a column

  Data is fairly large and takes few minutes to run it every time, so its taking a lot of time debugging this problem. When I run like concat('%',T.item,'%') on smaller data it seems to identify items properly. However, when I run it on the main DB (the code shown), it still shows many(maybe even all) of the exceptions.   I am importing data from a mssql database into mysql. Works except when it encounters the id of a previous entry. id is unique. I need to get entries that already exist so that they can be placed in the work of the day. Error is IntegrityError: (1062, "Duplicate entry '001355338' for key 2") This entry is already in the database. I need it entered for that day, but can not have it added to the table.
