  • jboss-5.1.0.GA auto start on boot

    i was given the task of installing jboss-5.1.0.GA on a remote ubuntu 10.4 Lts server., with all those resources out there i was able to run jboss successfully but my problem was that i wasn't able to get auto start on boot work so that jboss would be running on the server. i followed a couple of tutorials that said me create a separate user called jboss and to copy the jboss_init_Redhat.sh to the /etc/init.d/jboss (jboss home, java path ,jboss user and the binding to 0.0.0.0 is all set) and used /etc/init.d/jboss start but cant get to see the Jboss page at the Ip on a browser., but if i do a ./run.sh -b 0.0.0.0 == the servre is up ... can some body shed some light on this issue????

  • How can I modify command line in Ubuntu 10.04?

    I am using a vpn service from certain server. I was given with a root account, and when I connect with a root account, the command line looks like below. root@xa9g82:/etc/# Then I used useradd to add an account called 'temp' When I connected to the server with temp, then the command line only has a single character. $ The user information is not shown, neither the path. Also, note that, in root's command line I can use tab to automatically complete the filename, however 'temp's command line inserts tab space, when I press tab. It is very inconvenient. I am using Ubuntu 10.04. How can I resolve this issue?

  • IPsec tunnel to Android device not created even though there is an IKE SA

    I'm trying to configure a VPN tunnel between an Android device running 4.1 and a Fedora 17 Linux box running strongSwan 5.0. The device reports that it is connected and strongSwan statusall returns that there is an IKE SA, but doesn't display a tunnel. I used the instructions for iOS in the wiki to generate certificates and configure strongSwan. Since Android uses a modified version of racoon this should work and since the connection is partly established I think I am on the right track. I don't see any errors about not being able to create the tunnel.   • Samba 3.5 Shadow Copy for Windows 7

    Over the past several days I have been trying to get the shadow to work with samba but haven’t been successful. Can someone check below config and let me know if I am missing something? We are using Equallogic SAN and iSCSI LUNS to mount volumes. I can cleanly access samba shares on Windows 7 clients but just not shadow copy.   • Windows Network Load Balancing on ESX Cluster with Dell PowerConnect stacks

    We recently switched out our Cisco 6500 core switch for a pair of Dell PowerConnect 6248 stacks. Since then, our Network Load Balanced Sharepoint, which runs on two virtual machines on an ESX cluster has been behaving very poorly. The symptoms are that opening and saving documents stored in sharepoint takes a very very long time. There are no errors showing up on the Sharepoint servers or SQL server, just a lot of annoyed users. Initially I thought there was no way NLB could cause this, but as soon as we repointed the DNS records for our intranet to the ip address of one of the web front ends, the problems disappeared. We suspect there is an issue related to multicast in the Dell configs - NLB is configured for multicast, but not IGMP. Has anyone got a similar set up to us and fixed this sort of issue? Sharepoint on VMware ESX, with Dell PowerConnect switches.

The second monitor, connected via the DisplayPort-to-DVI adapter immediately goes into sleep mode and the laptop doesn't detect it. What is really weird is that it did detect it the first time I plugged it in but after I unplugged the monitor and plugged it back in it stopped working. I swapped the monitors round and it detected them both but after unplugging the monitor connected via the DisplayPort-to-DVI and plugging it in again it stopped working. Both monitors work if plugged in directly to the DVI port. Is there some way to force re-detection? Any ideas?

  • How can I adapt a Dell 2001FP stand for use on newer Dell monitors?

    I find myself really disappointed with how little vertical adjustment newer Dell LCD's have. I retiring a malfunctioning Dell 2001FP. The stand on the 2001FP allows over 6 inches of vertical adjustment. Compare this to my newer monitors, a 2005FP and a SW22209, both of which allow at most 2 inches of vertical adjustment. So while the Dell 2001FP monitor is shot, the stand is not. Is there anyway to fit the stand onto the SW2209 or the 2005FP? The 2001FP stand seems to have an odd plate with three tabs on the top edge. Can I replace this?

    Setting up a box for SQL Server 2008, which would give the best performance (heavy OLTP)? The more drives in a RAID-10 array the better performance, but will losing 4 drives to dedicate them to the transaction logs give us more performance. 12-drives in RAID-10 plus one hot spare. OR 8-drives in RAID-10 for database and 4-drives RAID-10 for transaction logs plus 2 hot spares (one for each array). We have 14-drive slots to work with and it's an older PowerVault that doesn't support global hot spares.

    I'm a developer who has to set up a Dell Powervault MD3000 due to lack of resources. I have connected the Powervault to 2 Dell 2950 servers via the SAS cables. I performed the setup using Dell's MD Storage Manager software (4 disks, RAID 5 with hot spare). Then I added the disks using Windows 2003 disk management (Basic, not dynamic disk and formatted with NTFS). When I add files to the array from one server, they are not visible on the other server (and vice-versa). Is the error in the windows disk management configuration?

Would like to: Run /usr/local/bin/spamassassin against it, tagging each message if the score is 10 or greater Have a tcsh shell or perl one-liner grep all mails with a spam score of over 10 and move those mails to /tmp/spam What commands can I run to accomplish this?   • Android: Showing photos runs out of memory

    I'm using a dialog box to display images in my android project. The first one opens fine, but when I close it and do the process again to show a different one the app falls over with a memory error (it's running on a samsung galaxy s3 - so shouldnt be an issue). com.handyapps.easymoney.EasyMoney. I placed a breakpoint at the start of the onCreate() method but I discovered it didn't even reach there. Somehow, the application just couldn't be loaded in Android 2.2... but it works perfectly fine for all the previous Android versions. Been trying to find the cause for the past 2 days but am totally stumped!! Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks!! Roland

Science Logic's larger customers use their appliance to monitor and manage  20,000+ devices, each of which generates a steady stream of data and a workload that is 85% write. On a large system, the MySQL database: Averages 8,000 queries every second or about 1 billion queries a day Can reach 175,000 tables and up to 20 million rows in a single table Is 2 terabytes on average and up to 6 terabytes "We told our customers they could add more and more devices. With MySQL, we haven't had any problems. When our customers have problems, we get calls. Not getting calls is a huge benefit." Matt Luebke, ScienceLogic Chief Software Architect.? ScienceLogic was approached by a number of Big Data / NoSQL vendors, but decided against using a NoSQL-only solution. Said Matt, "There are times when you really need SQL. NoSQL can't show me the top 10 users of CPU, or show me the bottom ten consumer of hard disk. That's why we weren't interested in changing and why we are very interested in MySQL 5.6. It's great that it can do relational and key-value using memcached." The ScienceLogic team is very cautious about putting only very stable technology into their product, and according to Matt, MySQL has been very stable: "We've been using MySQL for 10 years and we have never had any reliability problems.
