    I have installed Glassfish v3 on a standalone server running ubuntu-server 9.10. I can open the Admin website if I use a browser running on the server by browsing to: http:// localhost:4848/ I would like to access it from a remote machine by browsing to something like http:// mydomain.com:4848/ The firewall is definitely allowing traffic through on that port (4848) and I can access the application server by browsing to: http:// mydomain.com:8080/ How can I allow remote access to the administration website?

    I have a small network in which there are 2 electronic devices and one desktop connected using a switch. Through the desktop with Ethereal/wireshark installed on it, can I sniff the packets that are being communicated between the 2 electronic devices? I cannot install ethereal or wireshark on either of the electronic devices, but need to monitor the traffic between the 2 devices from my desktop, which is connected via the same switch.

    I've implemented a simple ping/pong protocol to discover other computers connected to the same WiFI router. This works fine on many routers, but it seems some public routers have UDP traffic blocked or disabled. What other options do I have to discover the computers connected to the router? I was thinking of brute forcing TCP attempts (trying to open connections to all possible IPs on my subnetwork) but this would be very costly and I would have to cycle several times and still not find every machine that's recently connected to the network.

    I'm going to have my website hosted soon on a VPS or dedicated server (with Windows 2008), so I'm trying to plan ahead. I wonder whether the built-in SMTP server that comes with IIS7 is reliable enough for a production server or should I look for an alternative?     I don't know much about SSL, but I've read something and I was wondering if it's possible to intercept the communication between client and server (for example, a company can monitor employees data transfer?). I thought it was a difficult task, but it looks like that it is very simple. When a client requests a https connection the router can be instructed to intercept the key exchange and send to the server and the client it's own public keys (further it can encode/decode the hole traffic). Is it true, or I'm misunderstanding something?

    I want to use htaccess to redirect all traffic from www.oldsite.com/directory to www.newsite.com I want to make it so that when visitors view any webpage within www.oldsite.com/directory (ie. www.oldsite.com/directory/contact.html) it gets redirected to the homepage of www.newsite.com I tried "Redirect /directory http:www.newsite.com" but the webpage the visitor is trying to access within the directory gets attached to the new sites url (ie. www.newsite.com/contact.html)

    Hi Guys, I have a site on A.com and an iframe on B.com which calls javascript from A.com. This works great in FF. In IE7 / 8 I am getting a Message: Access is denied. message. I have checked the HTTP Traffic via Fiddler - and I can see that it isn't blocked in Fiddler ? Any ideas what could be causing this and how to solve ?
