• Tortoisesvn not showing up correct status after commit

  Hi, I was going to ask this in tigris.org, however they have maintenance in their forum. My environment: Windows 7 x64, Tortoisesvn latest x64, simple repo. What I'm doing: I am adding a new file to repo, then doing SVN Commit. This operation is successful and I can see it in repo from trac or directly. I expect: To see that file's icon as green checkmark. What I have: I see blue PLUS icon, like I haven't done commit. However, if I just create any new file in that folder(without any commit or update), the icon is immediately changing to checkmark. What a magic! I don't expect here anyone to have answer, this might be a bug, but who knows )) Cheers!

• Inconsistent MySQL COLLATE errors across databases

  I have two physically-separate MySQL databases on which I have to run a single query. The query has a section of SQL that looks like this: and foo_table.bar_column like concat('%', rules.pattern, '%') COLLATE utf8_general_ci It runs fine on database A but on database B I get this error: ERROR 1253 (42000): COLLATION 'utf8_general_ci' is not valid for CHARACTER SET 'latin1' If I remove the collation it runs fine on database B but on database A I get this error: ERROR 1267 (HY000): Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation 'like' Is there a version of the query that will run on both databases? Or, is there a configuration I can change on either database to make the query happy in both places? Update: Database A is version 5.1.38, Database B is version 5.1.34

• Doing a join across two databases with different collations on SQL Server and getting an error.

  I know, I know with what I wrote in the question I shouldn't be surprised. But my situation is slowly working on an inherited POS system and my predecessor apparently wasn't aware of JOINs so when I looked into one of the internal pages that loads for 60 seconds I see that it's a fairly quick, rewrite these 8 queries as one query with JOINs situation. Problem is that besides not knowing about JOINs he also seems to have had a fetish for multiple databases and surprise, surprise they use different collations. Fact of the matter is we use all "normal" latin characters that English speaking people would consider the entire alphabet and this whole thing will be out of use in a few months so a bandaid is all I need. Long story short is I need some kind of method to cast to a single collation so I can compare two fields from two databases. Exact error is: Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_CI_AI" and "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" in the equal to operation.

• C# PropertyGrid drag drop

  I'm trying to implement drag/drop support to a propertygrid in C# using VS2005 (.NET 2.0). The propertygrid can handle the dragenter etc. events, but there doesn't seem to be a way to get the griditem under the pointer during a drag event. The best I've been able to get so far is to use the selectedgriditem property to retrieve a custom propertydescriptor and set the value, but this requires a grid item to already be selected before starting the drag/drop operation. Has anyone had any luck with implementing this? Thanks :-)

In the controller action i make multiple calls from these repositories for e.g. List<IBlog> blogs=_blogRepository.GetHottestBlogs(); List<ICategory> categories=_categoryRepository.GetAll(); do i have to implement any unitofwork pattern for this ?.My doubt is that how subsonic performs each operation DB.Update/Insert/Select .Is a TransactionScope is enough for batch update or do i have to use SharedDbConnectionScope to get better performance?

• CGI, python, and setgid

  I'm running a compiled python cgi script (using cxfreeze) in Apache. The script, among other things, calls os.setuid(some_uid) os.setgid(some_gid) Obviously some_uid/gid are legal and I set the sticky bit for both user and group, and verified it is indeed set. However on every call i get an error os.setgid(int(self.gid)) OSError: [Errno 1] Operation not permitted As you may notice, setuid() is successful, setgid is not. Which is very weird, at least for me, though I admit I have little experience with permissions in Linux. Any thoughts/ideas are welcome. I'm using apache 2.2.15, python 2.6.5, RHEL 5.4 (kernel 2.6.18) Thank you

• Does deleting a branch in git remove it from the history?

  Coming from svn, just starting to become familiar with git. When a branch is deleted in git, is it removed from the history? In svn, you can easily recover a branch by reverting the delete operation (reverse merge). Like all deletes in svn, the branch is never really deleted, it's just removed from the current tree. If the branch is actually deleted from the history in git, what happens to the changes that were merged from that branch? Are they retained?

RECOVERY is not a recognized SET option. incorrect syntax near _5_log'. i am using visual studio 2010 (also have SQL Server Express installed locally, SQL Server 2008 proper installed at provider (shared)) thnx a lot

• Low cost way to host a large table yet keep the performance scalable?

  I have a growing table storing time series data, 500M entries now, and 200K new records every day. The total size is around 15GB for now. My clients are querying the table via a PHP script mostly, and the size of the result set is around 10K records (not very large). select * from T where timestamp > X and timestamp < Y and additionFilters And I want this operation cheap. Currently my table is hosting in Postgres 7, on a single 16G memory Box, and I would love to see some good suggestion for me to host this in low cost and also allow me to scale up for performance if needed. The table serves: 1. Query: 90% 2. Insert: 9.9% 2. Update: 0.1% <-- very rare.

  Is there a way to have some sort of rich text in a file, and load the file into an NSAttributedString?   i have set up a twitter client on my iphone using mgtwitterengine. i've managed to set it up so i can tweet and recieve status updates. using the standard set up you can only receive between 10&20 updates. to be able to receive more updates then that you have to put[_engine getFollowedTimelineSinceID:0 startingAtPage:0 count:50]; but this does not allow you to get more than the original amount untill you activateif (params) { fullPath = [self _queryStringWithBase:fullPath parameters:params prefixed:YES]; } in SA_OAuthTwitterEngine.m. my problem is when i do this i can no longer post a new status from my app. i can have upto 200 statuses in the stream but no posting capabilities. this is the error:Error Domain=HTTP Code=401 "The operation couldn’t be completed. (HTTP error 401.)" any help would be appreciated. many thanks in advance

  Before migrating from ASP.NET WebForms I had a very good way to monitor all my application errors in the Events Log (Administrative Tools). But now after moving to asp.net MVC, all I get is the same mistake occurring every minute (something about Site Master). I know it's not right, because there are other mistakes, but they are not displayed. I purposefully put in division by zero operation, and it didn't track it. I had to implement the OnException method of a controller, and send e-mails with error details which is very inconvenient. How can I solve this problem?

  Hello, I am trying to use Piston to provide REST support to Django. I have implemented my handlers as per the documentation provided . The problem is that i can "read" and "delete" my resource but i cannot "create" or "update". Each time i hit the relevant api i get a 400 Bad request Error.   Hi all, I have a Silverlight 4 Business Project where I have enabled the ASP.NET Authentication/Authorization role information. I would like to pass the currently authenticated user's account information from the app.xaml.cs codebehind to a different XAML page, but I have no idea how that is done, or if it's even possible. My goal is to databind the IsEnabled property of various buttons of my target XAML page, based on whether the current user is in a particular admin related role or not. The Application_UserLoaded event handler of app.xaml.cs seems to be the safest event handler to initiate this task because it fires only after the user's account information is loaded from the server. • Local sites not displaying in VirtualBox when using Django's local development server?

  Hello. I develop web applications using Django on Mac OSX 10.6. I use Django's built in local development server which I run on my computer's IP (such as: http://192.168.0.11:8001/). I test my applications in Firefox, Safari and Chrome and all display fine. I use Sun's VirtualBox with 3 different instances of Windows XP that have IE6, IE7 and IE8 on them. For whatever reason, these sometimes just don't display the Django sites. They come up with 'The page cannot be displayed'. Eight times out of ten, they display fine and function normally but for no reason at all they won't display. Sometimes restarting Django's local development server from the Terminal will fix the problem, sometimes it won't. Is there some sort of VirtualBox settings or Django settings that I need to set to ensure smooth operation of this? Am I overlooking something? Has anyone else had these problems?

  I have a division operation inside a cycle that repeats many times. It so happens that in the first few passes through the loop (more or less first 10 loops) the divisor is zero. Once it gains value, a div by zero error is not longer possible. I have an if condition to test the divisor value in order to avoid the div by zero, but I am wondering that there is a performance impact that evaluating this if will have for each run in subsequent loops, especially since I know it's of no use anymore. How should this be coded? in Python?

  Hi there, we've had a ASP.NET web application deployed for a number of years now.... last week we migrated to a slightly slower server to save some money. Now we're frequently getting command timeouts: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding This is understandable in that a slower server will take longer to produce results; take longer time and produce a timeout. Is there any system-wide way to get SqlClient to set a longer timeout? We cannot change the code, as it's everywhere... we're using multiple data access technologies as well. Maybe there's a default command timeout setting on a connection string? We just need to increase it by 30 seconds; we're happy to wait a bit longer for queries to return. thanks

  I have a database table. There is a field name "Sequence" that indicate sequence when user presents the rows in report or grid visually. When the rows are retrieved and presented in a grid, there are few UI gadget that allow user to reorder the rows arbitrary. The new sequence will be persist in database table when user commit the changes. Here are some UI operations: Move to first Move to last Move up 1 row Move down 1 row multi-select rows and move up or down multi-select rows and drag to new position For operation like "Move to first" or "Move to Last", it usually involve many rows and the sequence those rows would need to be updated accordingly. This may not be efficient enough at runtime. It is a common practice to use INTEGER as sequence's data type. Other solution is using "DOUBLE" or "FLOAT" that could overcome the mass update of row sequence but we will face problem if we reach the limit of precision.

• Is there an easy way to sign a C++ CLI assembly in VS 2010?

  Right now I am setting the Linker/Advanced/KeyFile option. I am getting the "mt.exe : general warning 810100b3: is a strong-name signed assembly and embedding a manifest invalidates the signature. You will need to re-sign this file to make it a valid assembly.". Reading from the web, it sounds like I have to set the delay signing option, download the SDK, and run sn.exe as a post build event. Surely there must be an easier way to do this common operation in VS2010?

  If you have the standard Javadoc for a few different projects, how can you process them to create a single unified set of documentation in which everything is cross-linked? Ideally, the result would be similar to the documentation for the various modules in the NetBeans Platform: http://bits.netbeans.org/dev/javadoc/index.html but I've looked at their build scripts and they're predicated on you building everything from source. I'm looking for something which could also handle linking in Javadoc for third-party libraries, so I'd imagine it would need to be a post-processing operation. I can't be the first person to ever want this. Any ideas?

  Hi All, Has anybody installed git and ControlControl and got CruiseControl to pull from GitHub on a window 2003 server. I keep getting public key errors (access denied) - Which is good i suppose as that confirms git is talking to github. However what is not good is that I dont not know where to install the rsa keys so they will be picked up by the running process (git in the context of cc.net). Any help would save me a lot of hair! I have tried installing the keys into; c:\Program Files\Git.ssh Whereby running git bash and cd ~ take me to: c:\Program Files\Git Current error from CC.net is Error Message: ThoughtWorks.CruiseControl.Core.CruiseControlException: Source control operation failed: Permission denied (publickey). fatal: The remote end hung up unexpectedly . • Java creation of new set too slow

  I have this program where it have some recursive function similar to this: lambda(HashSet<Integer> s){ for(int i=0;i<w;i++){ HashSet<Integer> p = (HashSet) s.clone(); p.addAll(get_next_set()); lambda(p); } } What I'm doing is union every set with the set s. And run lambda on each one of the union. I run a profiler and found the c.clone() operation took 100% of the time of my code. Are there any way to speed this up considerably?
