    I would like to get to DataGridRow Cells property. It's a table of cells in a current DataGrid. But I cannot get access direct from code nor by Reflection: var x = dataGridRow.GetType().GetProperty("Cells") //returns null Is there any way to get this table? And related question - in Watch window (VS2008) regular properties have an icon of a hand pointing on a sheet of paper. But DataGridRow.Cells has an icon of a hand pointing on a sheet of paper with a little yellow envelope in a left bottom corner - what does it mean? Thanks for replies.

    Assume that I have the ItemSource bound and i am getting the data. Now what I want is this. The ItemSource will contain Data that tells where each button should be.   • How do you disable the Windows Phone 7 splash screen?

    Hi, Is there any way to disable the WP7 splash screen and just show a blank screen? My splash screen only stays on for less than half a second, leaving the user with a rather jarring sensation. I'd rather they not see any splash screen at all. I would have simply used a plain black image as my splash screen, but then that would result in an ugly experience for people using a light theme (since my app's background is white on light themes and black on dark themes) Thanks!

  • Giving event control back to xaml/callee to access check/uncheck

    Hi All, I've scoured the Internet but my search-foo must not work if it's out there cause I just can't find the proper search terms to get me the answer I am looking for. So I turn to the experts here as a last resort to point me in the right direction. What I'm trying to do is create a composite control of a text box and a list box but I want to allow the control consumer to decide what to do when say the checkbox is checked/unchecked and I just can't figure it out... Maybe i'm going about it all wrong. What I've done thus far is to: create a custom control that extends ListBox expose a custom DP named "Text" (for the Text box but it's not the important part) craft the generic.xaml so that the list items have a default ItemTemplate/DataTemplate inside the DataTemplate I'm trying to set the "Checked" or "Unchecked" events expose 'wrapper' events as DPs in the custom control that would get 'set' via the template when instatiated As soon as I try something like the following (inside generic.xaml): <DataTemplate> <...> <CheckBox Checked="{TemplateBinding MyCheckedDP}"/> <...> </DataTemplate> I get runtime exceptions, the designer - vs2010 - pukes out a LONG list of errors that are all very similar and nothing I do can make it work. I went so far as to try using the VisualTreeHelper but no magic combination I could find would work nor would it allow me to traverse the tree because when the OnApplyTemplate method fires the listbox items don't exist yet and aren't in the tree. So hopefully this all makes sense but if not please let me know and I'll edit the post for clarifications. Thanks to all for any pointers or thoughts... Like I said maybe I'm heading about it in the wrong way from the start...     Is it possible to customize the parameters of a WCF RIA Services endpoint? Specifically, I would like to create a custom binding for the endpoint and increase the maxReceivedMessageSize to allow sending the contents of a file that is a few megabytes in size.     I thought what I was doing was right out of the Josh Smith MVVM handbook, but I seem to be having a lot of problems with value converters firing when no data in the view-model has changed. So, I have a ContentControl defined in XAML like this: <ContentControl Grid.Row="0" Content="{Binding CurrentViewModel}" /> The Window containing this ContentControl references a resource dictionary that looks something like this: <ResourceDictionary ...> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:SetupPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:SetupPanel /> </DataTemplate> <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type lib_vm:InstructionsPanelViewModel}"> <lib_v:InstructionsPanel /> </DataTemplate> </ResourceDictionary> So, basically, the two data templates specify which view to show with which view-model. This switches the views as expected whenever the CurrentViewModel property on my window's view-model changes, but it also seems to cause value converters on the views to fire even when no data has changed. It's a particular problem with IMultiValueConverter classes, because the values in the value array get set to DependencyProperty.UnsetValue, which causes exceptions unless I specifically check for that. But I'm getting other weird side effects too. This has me wondering if I shouldn't just do everything manually, like this: Instantiate each view. Set the DataContext of each view to the appropriate view-model. Give the ContentControl a name and make it public. Handle the PropertyChanged event for the window. In the event handler, manually set the Content property of the ContentControl to the appropriate view, based the CurrentViewModel (using if statements). This seems to work, but it also seems very inelegant. I'm hoping there's a better way. Could you please advise me the best way to handle view switching so that value converters don't fire unnecessarily?

    By selective column display i mean the following: a control shows a listing of widgets (WidgetVm.DisplayName), with the default display name being in English (WidgetVm.EnglishName), but with the option to show the widget in French (WidgetVm.FrenchName). There also sorting and filtering available, which is why CollectionViewSource seems ideal. I know you can have multiple views over the same source but I haven't figured out how to do this yet.   • Should I remove all inheritance from my model in order to work with ria services?

    I've posted some questions on this before, but it's different. So consider a small portion of our model: Person Customer Employee Spouse Person is the base class which has 3 classes that inherit from it. These 4 are very central in our design and link to many other entities. I could solve all the problems I'm experiencing with ria-services by removing the inheritance but that would really increase the complexety of the model. The first problem I experienced was that I couldn't query for Customers, Employees or Spouses, but someone gave me a solution, which was to add something like this to the DomainService: public IQueryable<Employee> GetEmployees() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Employee>(); } public IQueryable<Customer> GetCustomers() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Customer>(); } public IQueryable<Spouse> GetSpouses() { return this.ObjectContext.People.OfType<Spouse>(); } Next I tried something that seemed very normal to me: var employee = new Employee() { //.... left out to reduce the length of this question }; var spouse = new Spouse() { //.... left out to reduce the length of this questions }; employee.Spouse = spouse; context.People.Add(spouse); context.People.Add(employee); context.SubmitChanges(); Then I get the following exception: Cannot retrieve an entity set for the derived entity type 'Spouse'. Use EntityContainer.GetEntitySet(Type) to get the entity set for the base entity type 'Person'. Even when the spouse is already in the database, and I retreive it first I get similar exceptions. Also note that for some reason in some places "Persons" is used instead of "People"... So how do I solve this problem, what am I doing wrong and will I keep running into walls when using ria services with inheritance? I found some references on the web, all saying it works and then some DomainService code in which they suposedly changed something but no details... I'm using VS2010 RC1 + Silveright 4

    hello, I am trying out the ria services and I am experiencing this problem that seems very strange to me. I am creating a new entity of type "House" and add it to context without saving the context so the id of the new entity is 0, after i remove this entity and add another new entity of type "House" again and again without saving the context, here comes the weird part, now I have an entity of type "City" which holds entityset of all "Houses" in that city, so to put the newly created entity "House" into the city i do something like this - house.City = city, where house is type "House" and city is type "City", afte this step a check the context and suddenly there are 2 entities of type "House" with id 0, one of them is the one I have deleted at the beginning. Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it?? thank you Greg

I'm trying to use the AdornedElementPlaceholder just like you would do when making a Validation.ErrorTemplate But the AdornedElement is not showing up.     Hi. I have 2 datagrids with data that binds at loadtime in xaml. Then I have a button that inserts a row in the database, but rows aren't added to the datagrids when I press the button. I would like a fix that doesn't just add a gridrow, but actually refreshes the data and fetches the new row from the db. However, I need to take into account what the time is right now. For Example: Now it is 1:00 PM Time1=5:00 AM Time 2 = 12:00 PM Time 3= 4:00 PM Time 4 = 6:00 PM So since the time is 1:00PM, I need to find the difference between Time 2 and Time 3 Now is there a smarter way other than reflection to determine this?
