  • Carriage Return\Line feed in Java

    - by Manu
    Guys, i have created text file in unix enviroment using java code. For writing the text file i am using java.io.FileWriter and BufferedWriter. and for newline after each row i am using bw.newLine() method. (where bw is object of BufferedWriter ) and sending that text file by attaching in mail from unix environment itself (automated that using unix commands). My issue is, after i download the text file from mail in windows system, if i opened that text file the data's are not properly aligned. newline() character is not working i think so. I want same text file alignment as it is in unix environment, if i opened the text file in windows environment also. How to resolve the problem.Please help ASAP. Thanks for your help in advance. pasting my java code here for your reference..(running java code in unix environment) File f = new File(strFileGenLoc); BufferedWriter bw = new BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(f, false)); rs = stmt.executeQuery("select * from jpdata"); while ( rs.next() ) { bw.write(rs.getString(1)==null? "":rs.getString(1)); bw.newLine(); }

  • Getting the data inside the C# web service from Jsonified string

    - by gnomixa
    In my JS I use Jquery's $ajax functions to call the web service and send the jsonified data to it. The data is in the following format: var countries = { "1A": { id: "1A", name: "Andorra" }, "2B": { id: 2B name: "Belgium" }, ..etc }; var jsonData = JSON.stringify({ data: data }); //then $ajax is called and it makes the call to the c# web service On the c# side the web service needs to unpack this data, currently it comes in as string[][] data type. How do I convert it to the format so I can refer to the properties such as .id and .name? Assuming I have a class called Sample with these properties? Thanks! EDIT: Here is my JS code: var jsonData = JSON.stringify(countries); $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'http://localhost/MyService.asmx/Foo', contentType: 'application/json; charset=utf-8', data: jsonData, success: function (msg) { alert(msg.d); }, error: function (xhr, status) { switch (status) { case 404: alert('File not found'); break; case 500: alert('Server error'); break; case 0: alert('Request aborted'); break; default: alert('Unknown error ' + status); } } }); inside c# web service I have: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; using System.Data; using System.Collections; using System.IO; using System.Web.Script.Services; [WebMethod] [ScriptMethod] public string Foo(IDictionary<string, Country> countries) { return "success"; }

  • smlnj rephrased question for listdir(filename, directoryname)

    - by czy1985
    i am a newbie learning sml and the question i am thrown with involves IO functions that i have no idea how it works even after reading it. Here is the 2 questions that i really need help with to get me started, please provide me with codings and some explaination, i will be able to trial and error with the code given for the other questions. Q1) listdir(filename,directoryname), which given the name of a directory, list its contents in a text file. The listing is in a form that makes it easy to seperate filenames, dates and sizes from each other. (similar to what msdos does with "dir" but instead of just listing it out, it places all the files and details into a text file. Q2) readlist(filename) which reads a list of filenames (each of which were produced by listdir in (Q1) and combines them into one large list. (reads from the text file in Q1 and then assigning the contents into 1 big list containing all the information) Thing is, i only learned from the lecturer in school on the introduction section, there isnt even a system input or output example shown, not even the "use file" function is taught. if anyone that knows sml sees this, please help. Thanks to anyone who took the effort helping me. Thanks for the reply, current I am using SMLNJ to try and do this. Basically, Q1 requires me to list the directory's files of the "directoryname" provided into a text file in "filename". The Q2 requires me to read from the "filename" text file and then place the contents into one large list. Duplicate of: smlnj listdir

  • Insert data in an object to a database.

    - by paul
    I am facing the following design/implementation dilemma. I have a class Customer which is below with getters and setters. I would like to insert the value of the Customer into a "Customer" table of a database. But Customer has an address which is of type "Address". How do I go about inserting this field into the database?(I am using sqlite3). I thought of writing a separate table "Address(customerId,doorNo,city,state,country,pinCode)". But I am having second thoughts about generating the primary key(customerId) which should be same for both the "customer" and "Address" table. Sqlite3 faq states that I can do "Integer Primary Key" to use the field to generate an auto number. But if I do that in customer table, I would have to retrieve the same Id to be used in Address table. This kinda looks wrong to me :-?. There should be an elegant method to solve this. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. import java.io.*; import java.sql.*; class Customer { private String id; private String name; private Address address; private Connection connection; private ResultSet resultSet; private PreparedStatement preparedStatement; public void insertToDatabase(){ } } class Address{ private String doorNumber; private String streetName; private String cityName; private String districtName; private String stateName; private String countryName; private long pinCode; }

  • Object Oriented Perl interface to read from and write to a socket

    - by user654967
    I need a perl client-server implementation as a wrapper for a server in C#. A perl script passes the server address and port number and an input string to a module, this module has to create the socket and send the input string to the server. The data sent has to follow ISO-8859-1 encoding. On receiving the information, the client has to first receive 3 byte, then the next 8 bytes, this has the length of the data that has to be received next.. so based on the length the client has to read the next data. each of the data that is read has to be stored in a variable and sent another module for further processing. Currently this is what my perl client looks like..which I'm sure isn't right..could someone tell me how to do this..and set me on the right direction.. sub WriteInfo { my ($addr, $port, $Input) = @_; $socket = IO::Socket::INET->new( Proto => "tcp", PeerAddr => $addr, PeerPort => $port, ); unless ($socket) { die "cannot connect to remote" } while (1) { $socket->send($Input); } } sub ReadData { while (1) { my $ExecutionResult = $socket->recv( $recv_data, 3); my $DataLength = $socket->recv( $recv_data, 8); $DataLength =~ s/^0+// ; my $decval = hex($DataLength); my $Data = $socket->recv( $recv_data, $decval); return($Data); } thanks a lot.. • (500) Internal Server Error with C# and Web Dev 2008 Express

    - by user32848
    The code below is generic, found in a variety of places, including a book I have. I have used it as a base for a working program in VS 2005. Now I've resurrected it with my current Visual Web Developer 2008 Express Edition and I seem to have problems connecting it to my default development server (I don't have IIS on my XP). The error is: (500) Internal Server Error. Is this saying what I thought it did (above) or something else, and how do I solve this problem? using System; using System.Collections; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Configuration; using System.IO; using System.Net; using System.Linq; using System.Web; using System.Web.Security; using System.Web.UI; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebParts; using System.Web.UI.HtmlControls; using System.Text.RegularExpressions; public partial class _Default : System.Web.UI.Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string strResult = ""; string url = "http://weather.unisys.com"; WebResponse objResponse; WebRequest objRequest; try { objRequest = System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create(url); } catch { objRequest = System.Net.HttpWebRequest.Create("http://"+ url); } objResponse = objRequest.GetResponse(); using (StreamReader sr = new StreamReader(objResponse.GetResponseStream())) { strResult = sr.ReadToEnd(); sr.Close(); } } }

  • Fails proceeding after POSTing to web server

    - by OverTheRainbow
    Hello According to this question, it seems like the error "Too many automatic redirections were attempted" is caused when forgetting to use a cookiecontainer to connect to a web server that uses cookies to keep track of the user. However, even though I used "request.CookieContainer = MyCookieContainer", I'm still getting into an endless loop that is terminated by VB Express with this error message. Imports System.IO Imports System.Net 'Remember to add reference to System.Web DLL Imports System.Web Imports System.Text Public Class Form1 Const ConnectURL = "http://www.acme.com/logon.php" Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim request As HttpWebRequest = WebRequest.Create(ConnectURL) 'Build POST data request.Method = "POST" request.ContentType = "application/x-www-form-urlencoded" Dim Data As New StringBuilder Data.Append("Account=" + HttpUtility.UrlEncode("jdoe")) Data.Append("&Password=" + HttpUtility.UrlEncode("test")) Dim byteData() As Byte byteData = UTF8Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(Data.ToString()) request.ContentLength = byteData.Length Dim postStream As Stream = Nothing Try postStream = request.GetRequestStream() postStream.Write(byteData, 0, byteData.Length) Finally If Not postStream Is Nothing Then postStream.Close() End Try 'Dim MyCookieContainer As New CookieContainer Dim MyCookieContainer As CookieContainer = New CookieContainer() request.CookieContainer = MyCookieContainer 'Makes no difference 'request.KeepAlive = True 'request.AllowAutoRedirect = True Dim response As HttpWebResponse 'HERE '"Too many automatic redirections were attempted" response = request.GetResponse() Dim reader As StreamReader = New StreamReader(response.GetResponseStream()) RichTextBox1.Text = reader.ReadToEnd End Sub End Class This is probably a newbie issue, but I don't know what else to try. Any idea? Thank you for any hint.

  • Android - Basic CRUD (REST/RPC client) to remote server

    - by bsreekanth
    There are lot of discussion about REST client implementation in android, based on the talk at GoogleIO 2010, by Virgil Dobjanschi. My requirement may not necessarily involved, as I have some freedom to choose the configuration. I only target tablets configuration changes can be prevented if no other easy way (fix at Landscape mode etc) I am trying to achieve. Basic CRUD operation to my server (JSON RPC/ REST). Basically mimic an ajax request from android app (no webview, need native app) Based on the above mentioned talk, and some reading I see these options. Implement any of the 3 mentioned in the Google IO talk Especially, the last pattern may be more suitable as I don't care much of caching. But not sure how "real time" is sync implementation. Use HTTP request in AsyncTask. Simplest, but need to avoid re-sending request during change in device configuration (orientation change etc). Even if I fix at one orientation, recreation of activity still happens. So need to handle it elegantly. Use service to handle http request. So far, it say use service for long ruiing request. Not sure whether it is a good approach for simple GET/POST/PUt requests. Please share your experience on what could be the best way.

    Umm, ok, after sending some data to the server, noting this particular part: "Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate\r\n" I am getting the following response: HTTP/1.1 200 OK Server: nginx Date: Fri, 09 Apr 2010 23:25:27 GMT Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Transfer-Encoding: chunked Connection: keep-alive X-Powered-By: PHP/5.2.8 Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT Last-Modified: Fri, 09 Apr 2010 23:25:27 GMT Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0 Pragma: no-cache Content-Encoding: gzip Vary: Accept-Encoding 7aa ??U-?Rh?%?2?w??PM]??7?qZ?K?)???2?&??m???"q??/p9w?????x?[`tA!G???G?5z??????a>k????????Q ???N?? ('??f?,(??Y:5B???-?)?3x^0e:j?`,???**???F>G)?2????@???b??????A?k???Ar?n? But how do I decompress it? Note that I am using the Socket Class to do all the work. I know how to decompress it, but the problem here lies in the fact that I cannot separate the Packet from the GZipped data, psuedo-psuedocode (or whatever) on how I do it: Socket sends packet; Socket reads response from server, stores into a ByteArray; Create MemoryStream, use ByteArray; Create GZipStream, use Memorystream; now the problem occurs; I am getting the following Error: System.IO.InvalidDataException The magic number in GZip header is not correct. Make sure you are passing in a GZip stream. I hope the explanation is clear enough __.

Here is my code from the sender: string fileName = @"SendTest.txt"; System.Uri uri = new Uri("obex://" + selectedAddr + "/" + System.IO.Path.GetFileName(fileName)); ObexWebRequest request = new ObexWebRequest(uri); Stream requestStream = request.GetRequestStream(); FileStream fs = File.OpenRead(fileName); byte[] buffer = new byte[1024]; int readBytes = 1; while (readBytes != 0) { readBytes = fs.Read(buffer,0, buffer.Length); requestStream.Write(buffer,0, readBytes); } requestStream.Close(); ObexWebResponse response = (ObexWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); MessageBox.Show(response.StatusCode.ToString()); response.Close(); Any1 knws how do i solve it?

  • Cannot install windows service

    - by Matthew Dalton
    I have created a very simple window service using visual studio 2010 and .Net 4.0. This service has no functionality added from the default windows service project, other than an installer has been added. If i run installutil.exe appName.exe on my dev box or other windows 2008 R2 machines in our domain the windows service installs without issue. When i try to do this same thing on our customer site, it fails to install with the following error. Microsoft (R) .NET Framework Installation utility Version 4.0.30319.1 Copyright (c) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///C:\TestService\WindowsService1.exe' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515). This solution has only 1 project and no dependencies added. I have tried it on multiple machines in our environment and two in our customers. The machines are all windows 2008 R2, both fresh installs. One machine has just .net 2.0 and .net 4.0. The other .net 2, 3, 3.5 and 4. I am a local admin on each of the machines. I have also tried the 64bit installer but get the following error, so i think the 32 bit one is the one to use. System.BadImageFormatException Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Android ArrayList<Location> passing between activities

    - by squixy
    I have simple class Track, which stores information about route: import java.io.Serializable; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Date; import android.location.Location; public class Track implements Serializable { private static final long serialVersionUID = -5317697499269650204L; private Date date; private String name; private int time; private double distance, speed; private ArrayList<Location> route; public Track(String name, int time, double distance, ArrayList<Location> route) { this.date = new Date(); this.name = name; this.time = time; this.distance = distance; this.speed = distance / (time / 3600.); this.route = route; } public String getDate() { return String.format("Date: %1$td-%1$tb-%1$tY%nTime: %1$tH:%1$tM:%1$tS", date); } public String getName() { return name; } public int getTime() { return time; } public double getDistance() { return distance; } public float getSpeed() { return (float) speed; } public ArrayList<Location> getRoute() { return route; } @Override public String toString() { return String.format("Name: %s%nDate: %2$td-%2$tb-%2$tY%nTime: %2$tH:%2$tM:%2$tS", name, date); } } And I'm passing it from one activity to another: Intent showTrackIntent = new Intent(TabSavedActivity.this, ShowTrackActivity.class); showTrackIntent.putExtra("track", adapter.getItem(position)); startActivity(showTrackIntent); Where (Track object is element on ListView). I get error during passing Track object: java.lang.RuntimeException: Parcelable encountered IOException writing serializable object (name = classes.Track) What is happening?

  • Export GridView to Excel (not working)

    - by Chiramisu
    I've spent the last two days trying to get some bloody data to export to Excel. After much research I determined that the best and most common way is using HttpResponse headers as shown in my code below. After stepping through countless times in debug mode, I have confirmed that the data is in fact there and both filtered and sorted the way I want it. However, it does not download as an Excel file, or do anything at all for that matter. I suspect this may have something to do with my UpdatePanel or perhaps the ImageButton not posting back properly, but I'm not sure. What am I doing wrong? Please help me to debug this issue. I will be eternally grateful. Thank you. :) Markup <asp:UpdatePanel ID="statusUpdatePanel" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <Triggers> <asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="btnExportXLS" EventName="Click" /> </Triggers> <ContentTemplate> <asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True" PageSize="10" AllowSorting="True" DataSourceID="GridView1SDS" DataKeyNames="ID"> </asp:GridView> <span><asp:ImageButton ID="btnExportXLS" runat="server" /></span> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Codebehind Protected Sub ExportToExcel() Handles btnExportXLS.Click Dim dt As New DataTable() Dim da As New SqlDataAdapter(SelectCommand, ConnectionString) da.Fill(dt) Dim gv As New GridView() gv.DataSource = dt gv.DataBind() Dim frm As HtmlForm = New HtmlForm() frm.Controls.Add(gv) Dim sw As New IO.StringWriter() Dim hw As New System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter(sw) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel" Response.AddHeader("content-disposition", "attachment;filename=Report.xls") Response.Charset = String.Empty gv.RenderControl(hw) Response.Write(sw.ToString()) Response.End() End Sub
