InfoPath browser form submitting dirty fields changed through javascript

I'm trying to submit an InfoPath browser form with fields that have been modified through the Spell Checker included in Sharepoint server. The spell checker checks all the fields in the page and once the user closes the SpellChecker dialog, it changes the textboxes with the new values through javascript. When I click Submit, debug the FormEvents_Submit in the form code behind and try to do a GetNodeValue("XPath to changed field"), it still shows the old values. I realize that this may be a problem of doing postbacks and I'd like to do a full page postback once the SpellChecker is done changing all the textboxes. Any suggestions would be appreciated. (Re)Enabling JavaScript debugger in IE7 with Visual Studio 2008

Visual Studio 2008 comes with nice javascript debugging features. But I have played a little with NetBeans debugger wich has installed an ugly Script Debugger from Microsoft to my IE... Normally IE should ask what do I want to use for debugging, but now I can't start debugging with Visual Studio, the Script Debugger is started automatically... After uninstalling the Script Debugger I can't debug in IE at all. Even attaching to iexplore.exe process doesn't helps... Has installed the Script Debugger again... :((((( How can I get back my Visual Studio debugging working in IE again?

javascript fit image to box

I need to make my image fitting into my div, I want the picture to be only inside the div, the rest of the picture will be behind the other elements. Basically I want to achieve the same effect as here http://tommywebdesigner.com/Home%20Page.html but with the div id="background"and div id="content" i have created. As you can see first i gave margin-bottom="350px to the header in order to create a blank space, here i have the space for the img in my div id="background"which is located under (z-index: -1;) and the rest of the elements is placed over inside the the div id="content" (z-index:2;) I need now a Javascript which fit this image in the div id="background". It works fine when using Firefox, heres an example: guest@shell:/$ sudo make me sandwich sudo command not recognized. guest@shell:/$ clear *clears* guest@shell:/$ clear But under google chrome this happen: guest@shell:/$ sudo make me sandwich sudo command not recognized. guest@shell:/$ clear clear command not recognized. I believe that it has something to do with "commands.hasOwnProperty(command)" that is preventing it from working properly. I am using JQuery the javascript library to build the website, and I need to know how to solve this problem, or an alternative.

However I can't get things to work for some reason. Intercepting static and dynamic links using javascript

Hi, I'm currently developing an ajax application and I'm looking for a feature that lets me intercept all static and dynamic links using javascript. The links look like these: <a href="link1/">link 1</a> <a href="link2/">link 2</a> etc. I then want the browser to redirect to: current.page/#link1/ rather than current.page/link1/. I'm using jQuery, so the live() function is an option, however using that as a solution just seems rather sluggish to me(am I hysterical?). If there is a way to intercept ALL links on a page, maybe through detecting a change in the address, that would greatly help. I've tried a few plugins for jQuery (jQuery address & SWFaddress) but they only seem to have event handlers that respond to changes in anchor tags in the address. Any ideas? thanks for your time

How to check for undefined or null variable in javascript

We are frequently using the following code pattern in our javascript code if(typeof(some_variable) != 'undefined' && some_variable != null) { // do something with some_variable } and I'm wondering whether there is a less verbose way of checking that has the same effect. According to some forums and literature saying simply if(some_variable) { // do something with some_variable } should have the same effect. Unfortunately, Firebug evaluates such a statement as error on runtime when some_variable is undefined, whereas the first one is just fine for him. Is this only an (unwanted) behavior of Firebug or is there really some difference between those two ways ?

Trigger button click with JavaScript on Enter key in Text Box

I have one text input and one button (see below). How can I use JavaScript to trigger the button's click event when the Enter key is pressed inside the text box? There is already a different submit button on my current page, so I can't simply make the button a submit button. Hi, Company I work for are one of the largest betting companies in Europe and the website has thousands of lines of JavaScript on all our pages. Lately Internet Explorer versions earlier than version 9 are running painfully slow and I want to be able to monitor what parts of a page load (including scripts) that are slow. I know that IE are slower in general and has DOM API issues etc. What I want to accomplish is a way to quickly identify slow parts and see if we can replace the code with IE specific code that will render with higher performance. Validating a text box value using javascript

Hi all, I have a textbox.The user will be entering entering a number in this box.The user should enter two digits followed by a period "." and another digit.It would look something like 22.3 or 00.5 or 01.2. If the textbox is not empty,I want to enforce a function which validates the value entered by the user(and gives them an alert if the value entered is not according to the format mentioned above) .This function needs to be triggered when the textbox loses its focus.I am not sure how to go ahead in writing this function as i am still new to this. Any help would be appreciated.Thanks in advance. p.s This function should be triggered each time there is a change in the value.Like suppose, the user enters a value 22, then when the textbox loses its focus,the javascript function should be triggered giving them an alert asking the user to change it to the accepted format which is 22.0.The function should be triggered again when the textbox loses its focus(after the change has been done).This time there would not be an alert since the user entered it in the right format.

JavaScript's Associative Array / Object can't be read in functions

At the very beginning of the javascript file, I have: var lbp = {}; lbp.defaults = { minLength: 40 }; I can successfully alert it afterwards, with: alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); But as soon as I put it inside a function, when I alert, I get "Undefined". What gives, and how do I avoid this? Is it absolutely necessary to pass this variable into each function, for example, by doing: function(lbp) { alert(lbp.defaults.minLength); } I would have thought that defining it first, it would attain global scope and not be required to be passed in? Thanks in advance for enlightening me :)

Passing a variable to javascript via a link.

My website has a javascript variable (addselectedsubdivision) that loads a neighborhood name from a box on the left to a box on the right. I was hoping I could build a link and then us PHP to add the subdivision letter, neighborhood, and city so that when you click on the link it goes right to this page and loads the neighborhood name in the box on the right. However, I can't get the variable to pass to the new page. Any suggestions? Parallel Processing Simulation in Javascript

Hello, I'm new to JavaScript so forgive me for being a n00b. When there's intensive calculation required, it more than likely involves loops that are recursive or otherwise. Sometimes this may mean having am recursive loop that runs four functions and maybe each of those functions walks the entire DOM tree, read positions and do some math for collision detection or whatever. While the first function is walking the DOM tree, the next one will have to wait its for the first one to finish, and so forth. Instead of doing this, why not launch those loops-within-loops separately, outside the programs, and act on their calculations in another loop that runs slower because it isn't doing those calculations itself? Retarded or clever? Thanks in advance!

Is there a limit to javascript's eval, like in lenght? I'm trying to build an app where you can store JS code in the DB, which you can later load and eval in order to execute it, but i'm reaching a limit. First of all, the code has to all be in one line. Any multiline statements are not executed. Next, i'm reaching a limit in length (i guess). If i execute the code manually, it works, but put that same code in the db, load it via ajax, and try to execute it, and it fails. Any ideas why?

I'm looking for the easiest way to sort an array that consists of numbers and text, and a combination of these. E.g. '123asd' '19asd' '12345asd' 'asd123' 'asd12' turns into '19asd' '123asd' '12345asd' 'asd12' 'asd123' This is going to be used in combination with the solution to another question I've asked here. I have javascript function in my aspx page that i call on the onclick event.but on one particular machine it always automatically called on body onload in infinite loop. Though I already remove all the caching and delte the history and temp files. This seems very strange to me .It works fine on all the machine excpt one. Automated browsing with javascript?

I'm trying to do some browser automation, but I'm having some problems. Basically, what I'd like to do is load a set pages, set some forms options, click a button and view the results for each page that I open. Originally, I tried to do this by placing the pages I wanted to automate in iframes and then using javascript to drive the interactions I want in each, but that results in a Permissions Error, since the sites I want to automate are not on my server. Is there any way around this? The other possibility I've thought of is to use QT's webkit class and the evaluateJavaScript method to accomplish what I'd like to do, but this seems a bit more heavy weight for something that is, conceptually, pretty simple.

This is a very old problem, but I cannot seem to get my head around the other solutions presented here. I have an object function ObjA() { var a = 1; this.methodA = function() { alert(a); } } which is instantiated like var myObjA = new ObjA(); Later on, I assign my methodA as a handler function in an external Javascript Framework, which invokes it using the apply(...) method. When the external framework executes my methodA, this belongs to the framework function invoking my method. Since I cannot change how my method is called, how do I regain access to the private variable a? My research tells me, that closures might be what I'm looking for.
