  • Can't access dynamically generated div with Jquery

    - by Bug Magnet
    Still trying to get my head around JQuery and dynamically generated content. I have the following code that is dynamically generated with JQuery whenever a user clicks on an 'Add' button: <div id="practices_div" style="border-top: 1px dotted gray"> <br/> <a href="#" class="remove_link" rel="practices_div">Remove</a> ....content goes here </div> The JQuery code that dynamically loads the above content is as follows: $.ajax({ url: '/addAjax.html', success: function(response) { $('#container').append(response); } }); What I'm trying to do is when a user clicks on the Remove link, JQuery should hide and delete the dynamically generated content from the page. The code that does this is as follows: $('.remove_link').live('click', function() { if (confirm("Remove this item?")) { $('#practices_div').fadeOut('medium', function() { $(this).remove(); }); } return false; }); So, when the content is dynamically loaded via Ajax, and I click on the Remove link, the Confirmation dialogue box is displayed and if I confirm, nothing happens. For some reason, JQuery is not able find the dynamically generated #practices_div. Any idea what I may be doing wrong?

  • Can't get node.js built on cygwin

    - by mwt
    Following the instructions here: https://github.com/ry/node/wiki/Building-node.js-on-Cygwin-(Windows) I've tried installing on two machines, either of which I'd be happy to get up and running. WinXP On 'make', I get: Build failed: -> task failed <err #2>: {task: libv8.a SConstruct -> libv8.a} According to the instructions, this is caused by having $SHELL set to a Windows style path, but I've set it to /bin/bash and get the same error. Win7 On './configure', I get: $ ./configure Checking for program g++ or c++ : /usr/bin/g++ Checking for program cpp : /usr/bin/cpp Checking for program ar : /usr/bin/ar Checking for program ranlib : /usr/bin/ranlib Checking for g++ : ok Checking for program gcc or cc : /usr/bin/gcc 0 [main] python 1092 C:\bin\python.exe: *** fatal error - unable to remap \\?\C:\lib\python2.6\lib-dynload\_functools.dll to same address as parent: 0x360000 != 0x3E0000 Stack trace: Frame Function Args 002891E8 6102749B (002891E8, 00000000, 00000000, 00000000) 002894D8 6102749B (61177B80, 00008000, 00000000, 61179977) 0028A508 61004AFB (611A136C, 61241CF4, 00360000, 003E0000) End of stack trace 0 [main] python 3536 fork: child 1092 - died waiting for dll loading, errno 11 /Users/Michael/Desktop/node/wscript:177: error: could not configure a c compiler! I've run 'rebaseall' and restarted the machine but still get that error. Edit: Ok, rebaseall was apparently erroring on some mingw stuff, so I edited the rebaseall script to fix that, and now it configures on Win7. The new problem is that it emits the exact same error as my XP machine now when I try to make. This is on tag v0.3.5.

  • Is there a way to have the equivalent of multiple :before and :after pseudo-elements in CSS?

    - by Sergey Basharov
    Currently I have this markup that represents an icon container and some elements styled with CSS inside it that in the end show as graphic icon. <div class="icon"> <div class="icon-element1"></div> <div class="icon-element2"></div> <div class="icon-element3"></div> </div> The number of the child elements can be different depending on the complexity of the icon. What I want is to somehow move as much as possible to CSS stylesheet, so that ideally I would have only <div class="icon"></div> and the rest would just render from CSS styles, something close in concept to :before/:after, a kind of virtual divs. I don't want to use JavaScript to add the elements dynamically. It would be possible to do this if we had multiple :before/:after. Here is an example of an icon I get by using the markup from above: As you can see, there are 3 child elements representing gray case, white screen and turquoise button. Please advise, how I can simplify this markup so that not to have to put all the divs each time I want this icon to be shown.

  • casting vs using the 'as' keyword in the CLR

    - by Frank V
    I'm learning about design patterns and because of that I've ended using a lot of interfaces. One of my "goals" is to program to an interface, not an implementation. What I've found is that I'm doing a lot of casting or object type conversion. What I'd like to know is if there is a difference between these two methods of conversion: public interface IMyInterface { void AMethod(); } public class MyClass : IMyInterface { public void AMethod() { //Do work } // other helper methods.... } public class Implementation { IMyInterface _MyObj; MyClass _myCls1; MyClass _myCls2; public Implementation() { _MyObj = new MyClass(); // What is the difference here: _myCls1 = (MyClass)_MyObj; _myCls2 = (_MyObj as MyClass); } } If there is a difference, is there a cost difference or how does this affect my program? Hopefully this makes sense. Sorry for the bad example; it is all I could think of... Update: What is "in general" the preferred method? (I had a question similar to this posted in the 'answers'. I moved it up here at the suggestion of Michael Haren. Also, I want to thank everyone who's provided insight and perspective on my question.

  • I have a fucntion that create histogram of each Bitmap. How can i create another 3 histograms for R.G.B of each Bitmap?

    - by Daniel Lip
    This is the histogram function im using today and if im not worng it's creating an histogram by Gray color. What i want is another fucntion that will return me 3 histograms of each Bitmap: The first histogram will be of the Red color of the bitmap the second for the Green color and the last one for the Blue color. public static long[] GetHistogram(Bitmap b) { long[] myHistogram = new long[256]; BitmapData bmData = null; try { //Lock it fixed with 32bpp bmData = b.LockBits(new Rectangle(0, 0, b.Width, b.Height), ImageLockMode.ReadOnly, PixelFormat.Format32bppArgb); int scanline = bmData.Stride; System.IntPtr Scan0 = bmData.Scan0; unsafe { byte* p = (byte*)(void*)Scan0; int nWidth = b.Width; int nHeight = b.Height; for (int y = 0; y < nHeight; y++) { for (int x = 0; x < nWidth; x++) { long Temp = 0; Temp += p[0]; // p[0] - blue, p[1] - green , p[2]-red Temp += p[1]; Temp += p[2]; Temp = (int)Temp / 3; myHistogram[Temp]++; //we do not need to use any offset, we always can increment by pixelsize when //locking in 32bppArgb - mode p += 4; } } } b.UnlockBits(bmData); } catch { try { b.UnlockBits(bmData); } catch { } } return myHistogram; } How may i do it ?

  • Userdefined margins in WPF printing

    - by MTR
    Most printing samples for WPF go like this: PrintDialog dialog = new PrintDialog(); if (dialog.ShowDialog() == true) { StackPanel myPanel = new StackPanel(); myPanel.Margin = new Thickness(15); Image myImage = new Image(); myImage.Width = dialog.PrintableAreaWidth; myImage.Stretch = Stretch.Uniform; myImage.Source = new BitmapImage(new Uri("pack://application:,,,/Images/picture.bmp")); myPanel.Children.Add(myImage); myPanel.Measure(new Size(dialog.PrintableAreaWidth, dialog.PrintableAreaHeight)); myPanel.Arrange(new Rect(new Point(0, 0), myPanel.DesiredSize)); dialog.PrintVisual(myPanel, "A Great Image."); } What I don't like about this is, that they always set the margin to a fixed value. But in PrintDialog the user has the option to choose a individual margin that no sample cares about. If the user now selects a margin that is larger as the fixed margin set by program, the printout is truncated. Is there a way to get the user selected margin value from PrintDialog? TIA Michael

  • svg mouseup event not fired in IE9, unless the debugger is open

    - by Roberto Lupi
    I am using d3 to build a simple chart that the user can edit interactively with the mouse. It works on in all modern common browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari), except for Internet Explorer 9 where I can start to drag an item but I never get the mouseup event. The strangest bit is that, if I open the debugger, the page works percetly on Internet Explorer 9 as well. My code looks like this: item.append("svg:circle") .attr("class", "handle") .attr("opacity",0.5) .attr("stroke","gray") .attr("cx", bx(0.5)-bx(0)) .attr("r", 10) .style("cursor", "crosshair") .style("pointer-events", "all") .call(d3.behavior.drag() .on("dragstart", function() { dragTarget = d3.select(this); }) .on("drag", function() { this.parentNode.appendChild(this); // put us on the front, not really needed var dragTarget = d3.select(this); dragTarget .attr("cy", function() { return d3.event.dy + parseInt(dragTarget.attr("cy"))}); }) .on("dragend", function(d, i) { newY = parseInt(d3.select(this).attr("cy")); newValue = y.invert(newY); var serieNo = this.__data__.serieNo; console.log([serieNo+1,i+1]); data[serieNo+1][i+1] = newValue; updateBarChart(); onchange(); }) );

  • Windows 7 Mobile ListBox uncustomizable?

    - by Roy
    I've just recently started development using Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone and I put in a ListBox. I can't seem to manipulate the formatting. No matter what I do, the background is black/gray, the selected items have a blue border, and there is padding between the items in the listbox (i'm using images). Here is my code: Xaml: <Grid x:Name="ContentGrid" Grid.Row="1"> <Grid Name="gallery"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="370" /> <RowDefinition Height="150" /> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Border BorderBrush="Red" Width="450" CornerRadius="4" BorderThickness="2" Background="Red" Margin="10,30,20,10" Padding="6,6,6,6"> <Image Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Height="360" x:Name="imgPreview"/> </Border> <ListBox x:Name="lbScrollGallery" Grid.Row="1" Grid.Column="0" Padding="0" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="450" SelectionChanged="ScrollerSelectionChanged" d:LayoutOverrides="HorizontalAlignment" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Hidden"> <ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"/> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ListBox.ItemsPanel> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Image Width="100" Height="100" Stretch="Fill" Name="imgSource" VerticalAlignment="Center" Source="{Binding Path=Url}" /> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> </ListBox> </Grid> </Grid> Is there some way I can customize the listbox? Like change the background to red or make the padding between different items 0?

  • Google maps and J-Query: Individual markers?

    - by user351189
    Hi there, I have created a Google maps mashup, where with a bit of input, I have managed to have a sidebar that links to a video icon/marker that then opens up an info window showing virtual tours. I would, however, like to put different coloured marker icons on the map depending on the category that the video is in. This would be easy enough to do, but my page is made up of a mixture of J-Query and JavaScript all calling to the individual flash files. Could someone help me with the code for adding extra marker icons for different categories? Here is the code: So, after the intial 'var camera;' point, there comes this: function addMarker(point, title, video, details) { var marker = new GMarker(point, {title: title, icon:camera}); GEvent.addListener(marker, "click", function() { if (details) { marker.openInfoWindowTabsHtml([new GInfoWindowTab("Video", video), new GInfoWindowTab("More", details)]); } else { marker.openInfoWindowHtml(video); } }); Then further down, is the code for calling the individual marker image. I would like to add another image to this list - would I start out by calling the new object 'camera-red.image' or something similar? function initialize() { if (GBrowserIsCompatible()) { map = new GMap2(document.getElementById("mapDiv")); map.setCenter(new GLatLng(51.52484592590448, -0.13345599174499512), 17); map.setUIToDefault(); var uclvtSatMapType = createUclVTSatMapType() map.addMapType(uclvtSatMapType); map.setMapType(uclvtSatMapType); camera = new GIcon(G_DEFAULT_ICON); camera.image = "ucl-video.png"; camera.iconSize = new GSize(32,37); camera.iconAnchor = new GPoint(16,35); camera.infoWindowAnchor = new GPoint(16,2); addMarkersToMap(); } The actual map can be found here: link text Thanks. • Active State Image Display

    - by fmz
    I have some images that need to change, based not only on hover, but also on active state. If you look at the page here: http://site427.mysite4now.net/tazthedog/site1/ There are some tabs with Screen Printing Quick Links, etc. The tab image is associated with the link and displays properly. The icon in tabs defaults to the gray and turns blue on mouse over, however, I also need it to be blue on the "active" state. Here is the css: .quick-links em:hover { background: transparent url(../images/quick-links.png) 10px 9px no-repeat ; display: block ; float: left; } Here is the html: <ul class="tabs"> <li class="quick-links"> <a href="#quickLinks" id=""> <em> <span>Screen Printing Quick Links</span> </em> </a> </li> <li class="distributor-ql"> <a href="#distributorQL" id=""> <em> <span>Dealer &amp; Distributor Quick Links</span> </em> </a> </li> </ul> I tried adding a .quick-links em:active... but that doesn't maintain it. I know there is a way to keep the icon blue while in the active state, I just need a little help to understand what that is. Thanks!

  • Questions about openid and dotnetauthentication

    - by chobo2
    Hi I am looking into openid and dotnetauthentication library. However I still go some outstanding questions. the id that comes back is that unique for each user? Can I store this id in a database as the userId(currently this field is a primary key and unique identifier) I read that you can try to request information such as email address but you may not give it to you. What happens if you need this information? I think it kinda sucks if I have to popup another field right away and ask for their email address and whatever else fields I need. Sort of seems to defeat the purpose a bit as I always considered a benefit of openid is that you don't have to fill out registration forms. Is it better to only have some predefined choices(google,yahoo,openid,facebook). Then letting them type in their own ones(ie gray out the field to let them type in a url). I am thinking of this because it goes back to point number 2 if they type in a provider that does not give me the information that I need I am then stuck. How do you a log person out? Do you just kill the form authentication ticket?

  • JLabel transparency problem

    - by Rendicahya
    I have a dark-gray JPanel with a JLabel on it. I set new Color(0, 0, 0, .5f) (tranparent) as the background of the JLabel and I change the text several times using a button. The problem is, everytime the text is changed, the previous text still remains behind the new text. I change the text from "123456789" to "1234567", "12345" and "123". Here is the screenshot: How do I get rid of this "shadow"? Here's the code: public class TransparentJLabel extends JFrame { private int i = 0; private String[] value = {"123456789", "1234567", "12345", "123", "1"}; public TransparentJLabel() { setSize(300, 160); setDefaultCloseOperation(WindowConstants.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); setLayout(null); JPanel panel = new JPanel(); panel.setBackground(new Color(102, 102, 102)); panel.setLayout(null); panel.setBounds(0, 0, 300, 160); final JLabel label = new JLabel(); label.setText(value[0]); label.setFont(new Font("Times New Roman", 1, 36)); label.setForeground(new Color(255, 255, 255)); label.setBackground(new Color(0, 0, 0, .5f)); label.setHorizontalAlignment(SwingConstants.CENTER); label.setOpaque(true); label.setBounds(10, 10, 270, 70); JButton button = new JButton(); button.setText("Change"); button.setBounds(100, 90, 90, 25); button.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { label.setText(value[++i]); } }); panel.add(label); panel.add(button); add(panel); } public static void main(String[] args) { EventQueue.invokeLater(new Runnable() { public void run() { new TransparentJLabel().setVisible(true); } }); } }

  • Java Graphics not displaying on successive function calls, why?

    - by primehunter326
    Hi, I'm making a visualization for a BST implementation (I posted another question about it the other day). I've created a GUI which displays the viewing area and buttons. I've added code to the BST implementation to recursively traverse the tree, the function takes in coordinates along with the Graphics object which are initially passed in by the main GUI class. My idea was that I'd just have this function re-draw the tree after every update (add, delete, etc...), drawing a rectangle over everything first to "refresh" the viewing area. This also means I could alter the BST implementation (i.e by adding a balance operation) and it wouldn't affect the visualization. The issue I'm having is that the draw function only works the first time it is called, after that it doesn't display anything. I guess I don't fully understand how the Graphics object works since it doesn't behave the way I'd expect it to when getting passed/called from different functions. I know the getGraphics function has something to do with it. Relevant code: private void draw(){ Graphics g = vPanel.getGraphics(); tree.drawTree(g,ORIGIN,ORIGIN); } vPanel is what I'm drawing on private void drawTree(Graphics g, BinaryNode<AnyType> n, int x, int y){ if( n != null ){ drawTree(g, n.left, x-10,y+10 ); if(n.selected){ g.setColor(Color.blue); } else{ g.setColor(Color.gray); } g.fillOval(x,y,20,20); g.setColor(Color.black); g.drawString(n.element.toString(),x,y); drawTree(g,n.right, x+10,y+10); } } It is passed the root node when it is called by the public function. Do I have to have: Graphics g = vPanel.getGraphics(); ...within the drawTree function? This doesn't make sense!! Thanks for your help.

  • Change style of text field based on the selection of a combo box using Javascript

    - by baldwingrand
    I would like to change the style of a text field based on the value selected in a combo box. Specifically, what I'd like to do is make the txtDepartment field gray and marked as "read only" if the option value selected in cboSource is 1. I've tried the code below, but I imagine my style code at least is wrong, if not other things. Any help appreciated. Thanks! <select name="cboSource" id="cboSource" onClick="displayDepartment(this);"> <option value = 1>Source 1</option> <option value = 2>Source 2</option> </select> <input name="txtDepartment" type="text" id="txtDepartment" size="6" maxlength="6"></p> <script> function displayDepartment(obj) { var selectedValue = obj.value; var txtDepartment = document.getElementById("txtDepartment"); if (selectedValue == "1") { txtDepartment.style.display = "Disabled style='background-color:#E8E8E8'"; } } </script>

  • How to detect a Socket disconnection?

    - by AngryHacker
    I've implemented a task using the async Sockets pattern in Silverlight 3. I started with Michael Schwarz's implementation and built on top of that. So basically, my Silverlight app establishes a persistent socket connection to a device and then data flows both ways as necessary between the device and the Silverlight app. One thing I am struggling with is how to detect disconnection. I could think of 2 approaches: Keep-Alive. I know this can be done at the Sockets level, but I am not sure how to do this in an async model. How would the Socket class let me know there has been a disconnection. Manual keep alive. Basically, I am having the Silverlight app send a dummy packet every 20 seconds or so. If it fails, I'd assume disconnection. However, incredibly, SocketAsyncEventArgs.SocketError always reports success, even if I simply unplug the device that the Silverlight app is connected to. I am not sure whether this is a bug or what or perhaps I need to upgrade to SL4. Any ideas, direction or implementation would be appreciated.

  • drawing graphs in php

    i am using php to generate graphs from arrays. I wish to create multiple graphs on the same page as i need to design a summary report from answers extracted from a database. Currently i am using this code and am only able to get one single graph. what additions to the code do i need to make to get multiple graphs? <?php function draw_graph($values) { // Get the total number of columns we are going to plot $columns = count($values); // Get the height and width of the final image $width = 300; $height = 200; // Set the amount of space between each column $padding = 5; // Get the width of 1 column $column_width = $width / $columns ; // Generate the image variables $im = imagecreate($width,$height); $gray = imagecolorallocate ($im,0xcc,0xcc,0xcc); $gray_lite = imagecolorallocate ($im,0xee,0xee,0xee); $gray_dark = imagecolorallocate ($im,0x7f,0x7f,0x7f); $white = imagecolorallocate ($im,0xff,0xff,0xff); // Fill in the background of the image imagefilledrectangle($im,0,0,$width,$height,$white); $maxv = 0; // Calculate the maximum value we are going to plot for($i=0;$i<$columns;$i++)$maxv = max($values[$i],$maxv); // Now plot each column for($i=0;$i<$columns;$i++) { $column_height = ($height / 100) * (( $values[$i] / $maxv) *100); $x1 = $i*$column_width; $y1 = $height-$column_height; $x2 = (($i+1)*$column_width)-$padding; $y2 = $height; imagefilledrectangle($im,$x1,$y1,$x2,$y2,$gray_dark); } header ("Content-type: image/png"); imagepng($im); imagedestroy($im); } $values = array("23","32","35","57","12"); $values2 = array("123","232","335","157","102"); draw_graph($values2); draw_graph($values);//no output is coming draw_graph($values2);//no output is coming draw_graph($values);//no output is coming ?>

  • C preprocessor problem in Microsoft Visual Studio 2010

    - by Remo.D
    I've encountered a problem with the new Visual C++ in VS 2010. I've got a header with the following defines: #define STC(y) #y #define STR(y) STC(\y) #define NUM(y) 0##y The intent is that you can have some constant around like #define TOKEN x5A and then you can have the token as a number or as a string: NUM(TOKEN) -> 0x5A STR(TOKEN) -> "\x5A" This is the expected behavior under the the substitution rules of macros arguments and so far it has worked well with gcc, open watcom, pellesC (lcc), Digital Mars C and Visual C++ in VS2008 Express. Today I recompiled the library with VS2010 Express only to discover that it doesn't work anymore! Using the new version I would get: NUM(TOKEN) -> 0x5A STR(TOKEN) -> "\y" It seems that the new preprocessor treats \y as an escape sequence even within a macro body which is a non-sense as escape sequences only have a meaning in literal strings. I suspect this is a gray area of the ANSI standard but even if the original behavior was mandated by the standard, MS VC++ is not exactly famous to be 100% ANSI C compliant so I guess I'll have to live with the new behavior of the MS compiler. Given that, does anybody have a suggestion on how to re-implement the original macros behavior with VS2010?

  • Looping the layout that was set up in Interface Builder

    - by Slavenko
    I just need for someone to point me in the right direction of how I should be doing things. I wanted to make an iOS news like app that would have interface resembling Windows Phone. Large and small image tiles that represent one news item each. Now I was thinking to create some basic layout in storyboard, that would consist out of, for example, a title, and a 3 different sized tiles/images (the gray part on the attached image). Now, I would be getting the data as a JSON array that has holds different news categories so I was wondering if somehow the set up layout could be reused in a for loop since the layout will only repeat itself (the red part on the attached image) and oly the data would be different. Can this be done, should I even try doing something like this, or should I try to create an entire layout programmatically? I wouldn't mind doing it programatically, it's just that I don't have much experience in creating layouts that way, and wanted to make sure that I don't do something that I might regret later. Thank you for any help and advice.

  • Switching between 2 UINavigationControllers

    - by Smikey
    Hi all, I seem to have a problem switching between 2 UINavigationControllers, i.e. one which controls the main (selection) menu of my application, and the second which controls the main session (i.e. the user can't go back to the selection menu once they're started a new session). The first works just fine, but I get into trouble when trying to load the second. I have a class called GameViewController which contains the second UINavigationController instance. I set this up as usual, linking it as an IBOutlet to the delegate and setting up the NavController in the GameViewController.xib file with its 'Class' property pointing at GameScreenViewController (my main game screen), and its NIB Name property pointing to the GameScreenViewController nib file. I then create a new instance of GameViewController and load it. In IB, the navigation controller looks fine, with its View 'loaded from "GameScreenViewController"', however when the NavigationController is loaded in the game, it actually loads the GameViewController's UIWindow instance (just a blank window). I'm not sure how to make it load the Navigation Controller's view rather than its own window? Also, another quick question. When I load the second navigation controller from the first, which makes more sense to use: [self.view addSubview:gameViewController.view]; or [self presentModalViewController:gameViewController animated:YES]; Thanks for any help, much appreciated :D Michael

How can I change only the first item in the row to white?

  • style ul with width to accommodate items

    - by Tallmaris
    Sorry I could not find a similar answer on SO. I have the following markup (generated by jquery ui autocomplete but this is not the issue here) <ul style="z-index: 1; display: block; border: thin solid red; width: 200px;"> <li> <a> <div style="font-size: 0.85em;"> <span style="float: right; padding-left: 10px; color: gray;"> United Kingdom </span> <span style="">text text text text text</span> </div> </a> </li> </ul> As you can see in this fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/fVr8P/2/ the text wraps because the width is limited and the country span is "floating". What I would like would be for the width to enlarge to accommodate the full length, but if I put width: auto; it will expand to 100%. Background The ul is of course coming from jquery ui autocomplete. I am styling the results a bit using the autocomplete.html extension. Problem is that everything is working ok in firefox an chrome because the autocomplete is set to the correct width on creation. in IE this does not happen (width is too small) so the text wraps. I am hping to come to a simple css only solution, without fiddling around in jQuery.

    - by A sw A
    ShowHide.html: Write a JavaScript in an HTML document that displays an image and allows the user to toggle the image between appearing and not appearing in the document. Place your image in a (division) tag that has a style attribute. “style.visibility” can take two values: “visible” and “hidden”. The document has a button called “Toggle Image”, which calls the toggle function upon the event “onclick”. DynamicColors.html: Write a JavaScript in an HTML document that changes the background and foreground colors of the body of a document according to the user input. The document has two input texts: background color and foreground color. The colors change when the event “onchange” occurs as you type in the text input and the event handler is called. Your event handler takes two parameters: “where”, and “newColor”. To change the document color and background color you need to change the elements document.body.style.color and document.body.style.backgroundColor. Available colors are: black, silver, gray, white, maroon, red, purple, fuchsia, green, lime, olive, yellow, navy, blue, teal, and aqua. DynamicContent.html: Write a JavaScript in an HTML document that can change the content of an HTML element (a help box). The content of an element is accessed through its “value” property. The content of a help box can change depending on the placement of the mouse cursor. When the cursor is placed over a particular input field (“onmouseover” event), the help box can display advice on how the field is to be filled. When the cursor is moved away from the input field (“onmouseout” event), the help box content changes to simply indicate that assistance is available. Your messages are stored in an array of strings.

  • Usability for notification messages, colors

    - by metrobalderas
    In each app I develop, I like to add three types of messages: Green/blue for success messages Yellow for warnings Red for errors And perhaps, a neutral one for information, which is gray or blue if the success one is green. The success one is used for when an item is created or updated, the yellow one is when there's something wrong, but not we-are-going-to-die wrong and the red one is when something is blocked or we are going to die. However, there's one thing I can't figure out, when I delete an object, what kind of notification should I use? I think the success one is not because it is not expected, altough the deletion was successful, the user tends not to read the message, just to see the color. The red one might be, but it can be misunderstood (I tried to delete it but there was an error), the warning and the information one might be good choices, but I'm not really sure. Also, when you ask for confirmation about deleting something, the 'cancel' button should be green or red? I'm just curious how you guys handle this. Thanks.

  • iPad Simulator Multitouch Cursors Don't Show Up When Window is Scaled 100%

    - by Joel
    I have the iPhone SDK 3.2 installed and been working on an iPad application. However, the iPad simulator doesn't show the two gray multitouch "cursors" when I hold down the ALT/OPTION button and move the mouse around. This only happens when the simulator scale size is set to 100%. If I have it set to 50% they show up. When I have it set to be an iPhone, they show up. It's only iPad 100% size. The multitouch still works fine, I just can't see where I'm "touching". I've trying closing the simulator completely, changing from the iPhone and back again. Resizing. All sorts of stuff. Has anyone else seen this problem? Anyone have any suggestions for fixing this? I've googled and searched SOF for anyone else having this problem, but I kinda wonder if it's just me. If it makes a difference I have a Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 installed. Thanks.

  • How to get attributes from both relative and absolute positioning

    - by user3677286
    I have a footer that i want to attach to the bottom of the page using bottom:0px. However, I also want to center it by using margin-left:auto; and margin-right:auto;. Effectively, this will stick the footer to the bottom of the page while keeping it centered vertically. Unfortunately, these cannot be used together as bottom:0px requires position:relative while margin-left:auto and margin-right:auto require position:absolute. How can I get both of these attributes onto the same div without creating a container? If not possible, what is a clean way of getting both these attributes? ALSO: I do NOT want to have a fixed position. footer.css: .footer { /*background-color:blue;*/ min-height:10px; width:940px; margin-top:5px; margin-left:auto; /* WILL ONLY WORK IF POSITION IS RELATIVE */ margin-right:auto; padding:5px; display:block; border-top: 3px solid #CCCCCC; text-align: center; font-family:arial; color:gray; position: relative; bottom:0px; /* WILL ONLY WORK IF POSITION IS ABSOLUTE */ } Thanks.
