    Hello, I have two tables in a master-detail relationship. The structure is more or less as follows: Master table: MasterID, DetailID, date, ... masterID1, detailID1, 2010/5/1, .... masterID2, detailID1, 2008/6/14, ... masterID3, detailID1, 2009/5/25, ... masterID4, detailID2, 2008/7/24, ... masterID5, detailID2, 2010/4/1, ... masterID6, detailID4, 2008/9/16, ... Details table: DetailID, ... detailID1, ... detailID2, ... detailID3, ... detailID4, ... I need to get all the records from the details table plus the LAST record from the master table (last by the date in the master table). Like this: detailID1, masterID1, 2010/5/1, .... detailID2, masterID5, 2010/4/1, ... detailID3, null, null, ... detailID4, masterID6, 2008/9/16, ... I have no idea how to do this. Can anybody help me?     I'm having real difficulty with a query involving 3 tables. I need to get the 3 newest users per department grouped by department names. The groups should be sorted by the users.dateadded so the department with the newest activity is first. The users can exist in multiple departments so Im using a lookup table that just contains the userID and deptID. My tables are as follows.     I am having a problem with selecting a certain child node. What I want to achieve: I you have this treeview for example (one parent with two child nodes): Parent -Child with a value 5 -Child with a value 2. I want to add these two values and assign them to Parent node: Parent result 7 -Child 5 -Child 2. Of course, a bigger treeview would have several parents and lots of children and they will all add up to one root node. How can I do this?? pls help. thx, Caslav

    Hi, I am following a tutorial in one of Ryan Bates' Railscasts here. Basically I want a form where there are 2 drop down menus, the contents of one are dependent on the other. I have Years and Courses, where Years HABMT Courses and Courses HABTM Years.   • Load an html table from a mysql database when an onChange event is triggered from a select tag

    So, here's the deal. I have an html table that I want to populate. Specificaly the first row is the one that is filled with elements from a mysql database. To be exact, the table is a questionnaire about mobile phones. The first row is the header where the cellphone names are loaded from the database. There is also a select tag that has company names as options in it. I need to trigger an onChange event on the select tag to reload the page and refill the first row with the new names of mobiles from the company that is currently selected in the dropdown list.     Hi, I am trying to call an Activity from another instance of the activity. The code is supposed to be a simple file browser (part of a larger application). I am using a ListActivity, and when an item (such as a folder) is selected, it is supposed to open it up in the new Activity. On other side i have Campaigns2Categories with campaignID and categoryID columns which are foreign keys to campaignID in Campaigns and categoryID in Categories which again are identities.     I have a query that goes something like the following: select <field list> from <table list> where <join conditions> and <condition list> and PrimaryKey in (select PrimaryKey from <table list> where <join list> and <condition list>) and PrimaryKey not in (select PrimaryKey from <table list> where <join list> and <condition list>) The sub-select queries both have multiple sub-select queries of their own that I'm not showing so as not to clutter the statement. One of the developers on my team thinks a view would be better. I disagree in that the SQL statement uses variables passed in by the program (based on the user's login Id). Are there any hard and fast rules on when a view should be used vs. using a SQL statement? What kind of performance gain issues are there in running SQL statements on their own against regular tables vs. against views. (Note that all the joins / where conditions are against indexed columns, so that shouldn't be an issue.) EDIT for clarification...     So I have built a voting system for a custom post system i wrote. I want to be able to sort by "most voted", "Most liked", etc. I have two tables. Entry: ID, Title, Post Vote: ID, EntryID, Result I want to be able to query the vote table for each entry and see how many vote's there are, and then sort the entry's by how many vote's each table had. I have messed around with joins, etc. and cannot seem to figure it out. Any suggestions?

  • jQuery: select checkbox when upload field is clicked

    I'm working on a CMS. When a user wants to replace an existing thumbnail image, they can upload a replacement, and check a checkbox to certify that they are indeed replacing the image. The checkbox seems necessary because otherwise the form submits a blank value (due to the presence of the upload field with no value) and wipes out the existing image without a replacement image being specified. The problem is that I keep forgetting to manually activate the checkbox and the uploaded image does not actually replace the existing one because without the checkbox being clicked, the receiving PHP file does not (by design) process the incoming filename. I suspect that users will have the same problem and I want to keep this from happening by reducing the number of steps required. One solution would be to check the checkbox with jQuery whenever the upload field is clicked.     Hi, I have created a script which is surprisingly working. (I do not do much JavaScript) What I have is a load of images listed within a div. These images are hidden. JQuery gets the properties of the images and puts them into an array. When the body is clicked, the background image of the page changes. This works nicely. However, I now have a problem. There are several elements which I shouldn't change the background when they are clicked. Namely, navigation, footer and caption. How do I create a selector which makes the body clickable, yet ignores clicks on the above 3 div's?
