• Synchronize JTextFields Values by PropertyChangeListener

  I want to copy the value of a jTextField - TXTFLD1 to another jTextField -TXTFLD2 when the value at TXTFLD1 changes. I choose propertychangelistener because i cannot detect when the value at TXTFLD1 is changed, Because it is changed by some external code which i cannot modify now. • accessing values in two dimensional arrays

  In some code I'm trying to learn from, the Maze string below is turned into an array (code not shown for that) and saved in the instance variable @maze. The starting point of the Maze is represented by the letter 'A' in that Maze, which can be accessed at @maze[1][13]---row 1, column 13. However, the code I'm looking at uses @maze[1][13,1] to get the A, which you can see returns the same result in my console. If I do @maze[1][13,2], it returns the letter "A " with two blank spaces next to it, and so on. [13,3] returns "A " with three blank spaces. Does the 2 in [13,2] mean, "return two values starting at [1][13]? If so, why? Is this some feature of arrays or two dimensional arrays that I don't get? Is there any way to get it to let me do that? Because if I try to use String^ meep; outside of that Thread it doesn't contain anything. It works PERFECT when I use it within the thread but not outside of it. I need to be able to add that message to the listbox. If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

  I found this article here: Quantifying the Performance of Garbage Collection vs. Explicit Memory Management http://www.cs.umass.edu/~emery/pubs/gcvsmalloc.pdf In the conclusion section, it reads: Comparing runtime, space consumption, and virtual memory footprints over a range of benchmarks, we show that the runtime performance of the best-performing garbage collector is competitive with explicit memory management when given enough memory. In particular, when garbage collection has five times as much memory as required, its runtime performance matches or slightly exceeds that of explicit memory management. However, garbage collection’s performance degrades substantially when it must use smaller heaps. With three times as much memory, it runs 17% slower on average, and with twice as much memory, it runs 70% slower. Garbage collection also is more susceptible to paging when physical memory is scarce. In such conditions, all of the garbage collectors we examine here suffer order-of-magnitude performance penalties relative to explicit memory management. So, if my understanding is correct: if I have an app written in native C++ requiring 100 MB of memory, to achieve the same performance with a "managed" (i.e. garbage collector based) language (e.g. Java, C#), the app should require 5*100 MB = 500 MB? (And with 2*100 MB = 200 MB, the managed app would run 70% slower than the native app?) Do you know if current (i.e. latest Java VM's and .NET 4.0's) garbage collectors suffer the same problems described in the aforementioned article? • FreeText COUNT query on multiple tables is super slow

  I have two tables: **Product** ID Name SKU **Brand** ID Name Product table has about 120K records Brand table has 30K records I need to find count of all the products with name and brand matching a specific keyword. I use freetext 'contains' like this: SELECT count(*) FROM Product inner join Brand on Product.BrandID = Brand.ID WHERE (contains(Product.Name, 'pants') or contains(Brand.Name, 'pants')) This query takes about 17 secs. I rebuilt the FreeText index before running this query. If I only check for Product.Name. They query is less then 1 sec. Same, if I only check the Brand.Name. The issue occurs if I use OR condition. If I switch query to use LIKE: SELECT count(*) FROM Product inner join Brand on Product.BrandID = Brand.ID WHERE Product.Name LIKE '%pants%' or Brand.Name LIKE '%pants%' It takes 1 secs. I read on MSDN that: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms187787.aspx To search on multiple tables, use a joined table in your FROM clause to search on a result set that is the product of two or more tables. So I added an INNER JOINED table to FROM: SELECT count(*) FROM (select Product.Name ProductName, Product.SKU ProductSKU, Brand.Name as BrandName FROM Product inner join Brand on product.BrandID = Brand.ID) as TempTable WHERE contains(TempTable.ProductName, 'pants') or contains(TempTable.BrandName, 'pants') This results in error: Cannot use a CONTAINS or FREETEXT predicate on column 'ProductName' because it is not full-text indexed. So the question is - why OR condition could be causing such as slow query?

It's getting very high numbers for years and months when the date calculated is from 1999-ish. ie, it should be 13-8 and I'm getting 5027-2 so I know it's not correct. I used NUMTOYMINTERVAL, which should be correct, but don't think the sysdate-start_date is working. Data Type for start_date is simply date. I tried ROUND but maybe need some help to get it right. Something is wrong with my calculation and trying to figure out how to get the correct interval there. Not sure if I have provided enough information to everyone but I will let you know if I figure it out before you do. • How to check dates don't overlap in a table using TSQL.

  I have a table with start and finish datetimes that I need to determine if any overlap and not quite sure the best way to go. • C# WPF Show Image from Mysql

  i'm a student and i am bad at programing. I saved the images in my mysql database for each player. I created a program where I can list some soccer players from my database. When i click on a listed player in datagrid, a new window appears with the information about the player. Everything works, but now i want a picture of the selected player to be displayed on the information window from the database. Can anybody help me? My english is not the best (i'm 17) so i hope you can understand what i mean. This is what i tried to do but i don't know how to continue. PS. It's in WPF. • How to identify end of InputStream in java

  I am trying to read bytes from server using Socket program, ie I am using InputStream to read the bytes. If I pass the length size I am able to read the bytes, but I am not sure what may be the length. So I am not able initialize the byte array. Also I tried while (in.read() !=-1), I observered it loop works fine when the data is sent , but the next line after the loop is not executable , I feel its still looking for the data in the stream but there is no ata. If I close the Server connection , then my client will execute the next line followed to the loop.   So I've been attempting to teach myself SCVMM 2012 and Hyper-V Server 2012 R2, and I seem to have hit a snag. I've connected my Hyper-V Host to SCVMM 2012 successfully, and created a logical network, logical switch, and uplink port profile (which I essentially blew through with the default settings). However when I attempt to create a virtual switch on my Hyper-V host, I run into an issue. The job will use my logical network settings I created to configure the virtual switch, but when it tries to apply it to the host, it stalls and eventually fails with the following error: Error (2916) VMM is unable to complete the request. The connection to the agent vmhost1.test.loc was lost. WinRM: URL: [h**p://vmhost1.test.loc:5985], Verb: [GET], Resource: [h**p://schemas.microsoft.com/wbem/wsman/1/wmi/root/virtualization/v2/Msvm_ConcreteJob?InstanceID=2F401A71-14A2-4636-9B3E-10C0EE942D33] Unknown error (0x80338126) Recommended Action Ensure that the Windows Remote Management (WinRM) service and the VMM agent are installed and running and that a firewall is not blocking HTTP/HTTPS traffic. Ensure that VMM server is able to communicate with econ-hyperv2.econ.loc over WinRM by successfully running the following command: winrm id –r:vmhost1.test.loc This problem can also be caused by a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service crash. • Errors when switching to specific static IP

  I had a Fedora box running using my static IP 69.169.136.6, etc, all configured according to what the ISP required. Just recently the hard drive failed (and I should have been keeping better backups) - while it is being recovered I would like to put up a webpage on my Archlinux PC explaining the problem - I presently do not have sufficient access to change the DNS record assigned to the domain. When I change my ip address while my system is running to 69.169.136.6, ifconfig reports the new ip address, but http://whatismyip.com/ does not. When I change it and reboot, I can't ping - the message I recieve is "connect: Network is unreachable" (when given one of google.com 's IP addresses - hostnames give me ping: unknown host xxx). Until I have access to the DNS system, what can I do to make this work? Edit: With new IP address, same problem, IP is now 69.169.136.29.
