  • Apache/2.2.20 (Ubuntu 11.10) gzip compression won't work on php pages, content is chunked

    I'm running into a problem with a new production server whereto I'm transferring projects. The HTML output of the PHP applications isn't compressed by the Apache mod_deflate module. Other resources, as stylesheet and javascript files, even html pages, which are served with the same Content-type (text/html) as the PHP output, are compressed! On that machine the compression works just fine on the PHP output. I've checked and compared Apache and PHP config files, all the same as far as I can tell. I've tried several manners of outputting the content of the PHP, using output buffering or just plain echoing the content. Same thing, no compression.     Im looking to spend upto £500 on a laptop in the next few days, and am now after a bit of adivce. This laptop will be used to develop personal projects on using VS2010, and SQL sever express. I know this sort of question has been asked plenty before however Im looking for specifics, has anyone bought a laptop recently to run VS on and if so what did you get? has anyone seen any good deals on laptops that fit in my price range?   • Is there a way to combine multiple TextMate windows?

    After files have already been opened in separate windows, is there a way to combine them in TextMate 1.5.9? Or, is there a way to get CyberDuck to open group files edited at the same time as TextMate projects? If you open a folder of files in TextMate, it groups them all in one window like such: But, if I open multiple files separately (as my FTP forces), they appear in multiple windows. Is there any way to combine multiple TextMate windows into one, so they appear grouped like in the screenshot above?

  • In Windows Virtual PC: Is there a way to assign local drive letter in the Guest O/S that points to a

    I have a bunch of programming projects on my P:\ drive (on Windows 7) I'm now doing some programming within Virtual PC Windows XP Mode and I'd like to "call" that drive, within the Win XP guest, the P: drive. I've mapped drive letter P: to "network" drive on the Host but that goes across the network so it's very slow. I tried using the SUBST command but it wouldn't take the \tsclients\p as a parameter. Basically, the command line interpreter (is that DOS on Win 7 ??) doesn't recognize that directory (\tsclients\p)

  • 2nd Year College - Learning - Microsoft Server Products

    As the title says, I just finished my first year of college (majoring in Software Engineering). Fortunately my school likes Microsoft enough, and I can get pretty much anything I want that Microsoft sells. I also can get IBM Websphere and the like for free as well. Earlier this year, I set up an oldish computer (2.6 Pentium D, x64) to run ubuntu server headless. I'm predominately a Java developer, so Apache, Maven, Nexus, Sonar, SVN, etc made it onto the machine. It worked really well for personal and school projects, especially team projects (quick ramp up). Anyways, I started to pick up C# to complement my Java knowledge (don't judge me :P), and am interested in working with some of the associated Microsoft equivalents. The machine currently has the Ubuntu install, as well as Windows 7 Ultimate. I do all of my actual development work off my laptop, also running Windows 7 Ultimate. I was wondering what software you would recommend putting on the machine. I’m not actually serving anything off the machine itself, but in Ubuntu I had it doing integration tests with Hudson on every commit, and profiling my applications, etc, etc. The machine would be running headless, and I would remote into it. Here is what I am currently leaning towards / wondering about: Windows 7 Ultimate vs Windows Server 2008 (R2) (no one is really clear why I should go with one over the other) Windows Team Foundation Sharepoint (Never used it before, kind of meh about it) IBM Websphere or Glassfish (Some Java EE web server) SQL Server 2008 A DVCS In order to better control product conflicts / limit resource use, I’m wondering if I should install things into virtual machines (I can get VmWare or Microsoft Virtualization Products) I also plan on installing everything I had running under Linux (it’s almost entirely Java based development software, so it’ll run on both, only reason I went with ubuntu during the year was because the apache build seemed better). I’m primarily looking to become familiar with enterprise software development tools, as well as get something functional that will help my development process. (IE, I’ll still use project and assign tasks even though I might be the only one to assign tasks to, just to practice doing so). Is there any other software / configuration details I should explore? Opinions on my current list? I primarily use C#, Java, and PHP. I'm familiar with ruby, and python as well. Thanks!

However I noticed Revit also organising inplace models lumping them with the rest of the families. So my question is: Is there really any performance penalty/benefit to be had by inserting families from an external file as opposed to creating inplace models in a Revit project?

    Hi When I try to start my local server in RAD it takes ages to start. In startserver.log it stays at the following log statement for about 5 minutes ADMU3100I: Reading configuration for server: server1 When it moves on from this log statement, the server starts as normal. I have tried creating a new server profile and starting a server with no projects but I get the same results. What could be the issue here? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.   • Opening Python in CMD (Unfixable Error)

    I recently tried opening one of my Python projects with CMD to see what would happen. The result did nothing amazing, but Windows 7 thought I wanted to open .py files in CMD all the time. I have tried everything, setting it back to python.exe does not work, I even went to Control Panel to see if it could help, but Control Panel couldn't help either. So if someone could help me please that would be great. Thank you.

    At work, on certain projects I have to manage a lot of images. Most of the time PNG files work the best for what I'm doing. With such a huge amount of images, I've tried using PNG compression with PNG Gauntlet but sometimes the file doesn't really change and sometimes PNG Gauntlet reports it would've made the filesize bigger! Am I just maxing out the compression or is there something more I can do?

There are lot of tasks executed behind the scenes and if somethings fails (either by errors in logic or hardware problems) in most cases responsible person is not notified (or not notified instantly).     We work on our projects locally, and deploy them on remote servers for testing. This is currently done via git commits/push/pulls. But the problem here is that most of the commit contain errors and/or break the code in significant manner due to the lack of testing. Is there a way we can deploy the code on the remote server without using git commits, or some sort of temporary commits or patch or any other mechanism? And only commit, whenever it is important.

    There are several different free software gallery projects (Gallery, Coppermine, etc), but as far as I know each of those creates a copy of imported images in their internal storage, be it directory structure or database). Is there any gallery software that would allow keeping existing directory hierarchy of media files (images, videos), as-is, and just store the meta-data of them in a database? I guess at least various NAS solutions ship with software like this.
