  • Shortcut for enabling / disabling Greasemonkey (or specific script)

    - by ldigas
talking about firefox here ... I don't use Greasemonkey on any other browser, but if you know, do add info for those as well I use Greasemonkey daily ... having some 20 scripts loaded all the time which save me a ton of grief. But, some of them I sometimes don't need ... few examples: - I use Google Image Status Reporter & Direct Images (links you directly to image file) ... but sometimes I want to go to the page where the image is ... - GReader Minimalist Style ... until I actually need to check the trends and some stuff it hides - there are other examples but these two first sprang to mind, since I just were thinking about that ... To put the long story short ... sometimes I would like a shortcut to disable Greasemonkey, so I don't have to go into the menubar and so on (which I also have half hidden for space) ... anyone knows of any, or how one could create one ?

  • The proper way to script periodically pulling a page from an https site

    - by DarthShader
I want to create a command-line script for Cygwin/Bash that logs into a site, navigates to a specific page and compares it with the results of the last run. So far, I have it working with Lynx like so: ----snpipped, just setting variables---- echo "# Command logfile created by Lynx 2.8.5rel.5 (29 Oct 2005) ----snipped the recorded keystrokes------- key Right Arrow key p key Right Arrow key ^U" >> $tmp1 #p, right arrow initiate the page saving #"type" the filename inside the "where to save" dialog for i in $(seq 0 $((${#tmp2} - 1))) do echo "key ${tmp2:$i:1}" >> $tmp1 done #hit enter and quit echo "key ^J key y key q key y " >> $tmp1 lynx -accept_all_cookies -cmd_script=$tmp1 https://thewebpage.com/login diff $tmp2 $oldComp mv $tmp2 $oldComp It definitely does not feel "right": the cmd_script consists of relative user actions instead of specifying the exact link names and actions. So, if anything on the site ever changes, switches places, or a new link is added - I will have to re-create the actions. Also, I can't check for any errors so I can't abort the script if something goes wrong (login failed, etc) Another alternative I have been looking at is Mechanize with Ruby (as a note - I have 0 experience with Ruby). What would be the best way to improve or rewrite this?

  • How do I get the Bake console for CakePHP?

    - by ggfan
I am having trouble getting the Bake console. I am on windows running xampp. I'm doing the IBM cakphp tutorial. Here is my directory: C:\\ xampp htdocs ibm2(a test project--orginally called cakephp) app cake vendors (etc) It says to To use Bake, cd into the /webroot/app directory and launch the Cake Console: ../cake/console/cake bake. You should be presented with a screen that looks like Figure 2. So I write in my command prompt till I am at: C:\xampp\htdocs\ibm2\app Then I type ../cake/console/cake bake but I get this error: '..' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. What am I doing wrong? I use the window's command prompt

  • Run FFmpeg from Shell Script

    - by Abs
Hello all, I have found a useful shell script that shows all files in a directory recursively. Where it prints the file name echo "$i"; #Display File name. I would instead like to run an ffmpeg command on non MP3 files, how can I do this? I have very limited knowledge of shell scripts so I appreciate if I was spoon fed! :) //if file is NOT MP3 ffmpeg -i [the_file] -sameq [same_file_name_with_mp3_extension] //delete old file Here is the shell script for reference. DIR="." function list_files() { if !(test -d "$1") then echo $1; return; fi cd "$1" echo; echo `pwd`:; #Display Directory name for i in * do if test -d "$i" #if dictionary then list_files "$i" #recursively list files cd .. else echo "$i"; #Display File name fi done } if [ $# -eq 0 ] then list_files . exit 0 fi for i in $* do DIR="$1" list_files "$DIR" shift 1 #To read next directory/file name done

  • Preventing a child process (HandbrakeCLI) from causing the parent script to exit

    - by Chris
I have a batch conversion script to turn .mkvs of various dimensions into ipod/iphone sized .mp4s, cropping/scaling to suit. Determining the original dimensions, required crop, output file is all working fine. However, on successful completion of the first conversion, HandbrakeCLI causes the parent script to exit. Why would this be? And how can I stop it? The code, as it currently stands: #!/bin/bash find . -name "*.mkv" | while read FILE do # What would the output file be? DST=../Touch/$(dirname "$FILE") MKV=$(basename "$FILE") MP4=${MKV%%.mkv}.mp4 # If it already exists, don't overwrite it if [ -e "$DST/$MP4" ] then echo "NOT overwriting $DST/$MP4" else # Stuff to determine dimensions/cropping removed for brevity HandbrakeCLI --preset "iPhone & iPod Touch" --vb 900 --crop $crop -i "$FILE" -o "$DST/$MP4" > /dev/null 2>&1 if [ $? != 0 ] then echo "$FILE had problems" >> errors.log fi fi done I have additionally tried it with a trap, but that didn't change the behaviour (although the last trap did fire) trap "echo Handbrake SIGINT-d" SIGINT trap "echo Handbrake SIGTERM-d" SIGTERM trap "echo Handbrake EXIT-d" EXIT trap "echo Handbrake 0-d" 0

  • Python script to delete old SVN files lacks permission

    - by Rosarch
I'm trying to delete old SVN files from directory tree. shutil.rmtree and os.unlink raise WindowsErrors, because the script doesn't have permissions to delete them. How can I get around that? Here is the script: # Delete all files of a certain type from a direcotry import os import shutil dir = "c:\\" verbosity = 0; def printCleanMsg(dir_path): if verbosity: print "Cleaning %s\n" % dir_path def cleandir(dir_path): printCleanMsg(dir_path) toDelete = [] dirwalk = os.walk(dir_path) for root, dirs, files in dirwalk: printCleanMsg(root) toDelete.extend([root + os.sep + dir for dir in dirs if '.svn' == dir]) toDelete.extend([root + os.sep + file for file in files if 'svn' in file]) print "Items to be deleted:" for candidate in toDelete: print candidate print "Delete all %d items? [y|n]" % len(toDelete) choice = raw_input() if choice == 'y': deleted = 0 for filedir in toDelete: if os.path.exists(filedir): # could have been deleted already by rmtree try: if os.path.isdir(filedir): shutil.rmtree(filedir) else: os.unlink(filedir) deleted += 1 except WindowsError: print "WindowsError: Couldn't delete '%s'" % filedir print "\nDeleted %d/%d files." % (deleted, len(toDelete)) exit() if __name__ == "__main__": cleandir(dir) Not a single file is able to be deleted. • Excel Single column into rows, VBA script insight

    - by Sanityvoid
Okay, so much similiar to the below link but mine is a bit different. Paginate Rows into Columns in Excel I have a lot of data in column A, I want to take every 14 to 15 rows and make them a new row with multiple columns. I'm trying to get it into a format where SQL can intake the data. I figured the best way was to get them into rows then make a CSV with the data. So it would like like below: (wow, the format totally didn't stick when posting) column A column B C D etc 1 1 2 3 x 2 16 17 a b 3 x y z 15 16 17 a b c I can clarify if needed, but I'm stumped on how to get the data out of the single column with so many rows in the column. Thanks for the help!!!

  • Postfix filter messages and pass to PHP script

    - by John Magnolia
Each time a user signs up to our website through an external provider we get a basic email with the body contents containing the user details. I want to write a personalised automatic reply to this user. The actual parsing of the email body and reply via PHP I have already wrote but how do I go about configuring this from postfix? At the moment it is configured using a roundcube Sieve plugin where the email gets moved into a folder "Subscribe". Is it possible to create a custom action here? Debain Squeeze, Postfix and Dovecot

  • shell script segment to avoid overwriting files

    - by johndashen
I have a perl script (or any executable) E which will take a file foo.xml and write a file foo.txt. I use a Beowulf cluster to run E for a large number of XML files, but I'd like to write a simple job server script in shell (bash) which doesn't overwrite existing txt files. I'm currently doing something like #!/bin/sh PATTERN="[A-Z]*0[1-2][a-j]"; # this matches foo in all cases todo=`ls *.xml | grep $PATTERN`; isdone=`ls *.foo | grep $PATTERN`; whatsleft=todo - isdone; # what's the unix magic? #and then call the job server; jobserve E "$whatsleft"; and then I don't know how to get the difference between $todo and $isdone. I'd prefer using sort/uniq to something like a for loop with grep inside, but I'm not sure how to do it (pipes? temporary files?) As a bonus question, is there a way to do lookahead search in bash grep?

  • Receiving and processing SMS messages through a script?

    - by ShankarG
I am attempting to setup a system to receive and process SMS messages automatically. The system is intended for use in a context (an unfunded migrant workers' union in India) where both finances and sysadmin skills are extremely constrained (I would be the only person, in the near future, who would be administering the system). The intention is to make some functions - registration of members, generation of ID cards, communication of alerts and other information - easier. However, for receiving and sending SMS, I have not been able to find any email to SMS or other kind of gateway that functions in India. Perhaps there is one (edit: apparently Clickatell does have an India service, but the prices appear astronomical). If not, can one rely on a USB mobile modem (such as those provided by many mobile providers in India)? It seems like, with utilities such as gammu or bitpim, SMS operations on such a modem could be scripted. Is this actually feasible, though? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and suggestions. edit: Original first question removed since the two questions had little to do with each other. The original first question has been asked separately here

  • Run a shell script using cron

    - by Blanca
Hi! I have this FeedIndexer.sh: #!/bin/sh java -jar FeedIndexer.jar Just to run FeedIndexer.jar which is in the same directory as the .sh, I would like to run it using crontab, so I did this: # /etc/crontab: system-wide crontab # Unlike any other crontab you don't have to run the `crontab' # command to install the new version when you edit this file # and files in /etc/cron.d. These files also have username fields, # that none of the other crontabs do. • Randomizing Div tags using Java Script

    - by Andrew McNeil
I've looked around and have been able to find a piece of code that does the job but it doesn't work for all of my tags. I have a total of 8 Div tags that I want to randomize and this piece of code only allows me to randomize 7 of them. If I replace the 7 with an 8 it just shows everything in order. I don't work with Javascript very often and have hit a road block. Any help is greatly appreciated. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $(".workPiece").hide(); var elements = $(".workPiece"); var elementCount = elements.size(); var elementsToShow = 7; var alreadyChoosen = ","; var i = 0; while (i < elementsToShow) { var rand = Math.floor(Math.random() * elementCount); if (alreadyChoosen.indexOf("," + rand + ",") < 0) { alreadyChoosen += rand + ","; elements.eq(rand).show(); ++i; } } }); </script>

  • How to transer/execute a script on remote unix server from Linux machine

    - by Jagadeesh
I am trying to deploy an executable and execute it on remote Unix machine(Linux/Solaris) from Linux without entering the password manually. I tried scp and also SSH key-gen utility to interact with remote server but in either way i couldn't avoid providing the password manually. Since I need to run this command/utility from Java code, I should completely avoid prompting for the password at run time. I have gone through many topics in google but nothing has been materialized. Your help would really be appreciated if i could proceed further on this issue. Thanks in advance. -Jagadeesh

  • PHP delete script, return to 'viewsubjects.php?classroom_id=NO VALUE'

    - by Derek
Hi, As the title states... I am deleting a 'subject' from a 'classroom' I view classrooms, then can click on a classroom to view the subject for that classroom. So the link where I am viewing subjects looks like: viewsubjects.php?classroom=23 When the user selects the delete button (in a row) to remove a subject from a class, I simply want the user to be redirected back to the list of subjects for the classroom (exactly where they were before!!) So I though this is simply a case of calling up the classroom ID within my delete script. Here is what I have: EDIT: corrected spelling mistake in code (this was not the problem) $subject_id = $_GET['subject_id']; $classroom_id = $_GET['classroom_id']; $sql = "DELETE FROM subjects WHERE subject_id=".$subject_id; $result = mysql_query($sql, $connection) or die("MySQL Error: ".mysql_error()); header("Location: viewsubjects.php?classroom_id=".$classroom_id); exit(); The subject is being removed from the DB, but when I am redirected back the URI is displaying with an empty classroom ID like: viewsubjects.php?classroom_id= Is there a way to carry the classroom ID through successfully through the delete script so it can be displayed after, allowing the user to be redirected back to the page? Thanks for any help!

  • How to start a local server and open it in a browser from a shell script

    - by davidchambers
I have a test suite which runs in a browser (using QUnit, though that's unimportant). The test suite requires a local server running on a particular port. Running the tests currently involves a few steps: node test/server switch to browser of choice open localhost:3000 I'd like to have a single command which starts the server then runs open localhost:3000. Ideally, the node process would remain in the foreground so it could be killed with ^C. I don't have a good understanding of subshells, so I'm not sure whether this is possible.

  • Should a "script" tag be allowed to remove itself?

    - by Nischal
We've been having a discussion at our workplace on this with some for and some against the behavior. Wanted to hear views from you guys : <html> <body> <div> Test! <script> document.body.removeChild(document.getElementsByTagName('div')[0]); </script> </div> </body> </html> Should the above script work and do what it's supposed to do? First, let's see what's happening here : I have a javascript that's inside the <div> element. This javascript will delete the child node within body which happens to hold the div inside which the script itself exists. Now, the above script works fine in Firefox, Opera and IE8. But IE6 and IE7 give an alert saying they cannot open the page. Let's not debate on how IE should have handled this (they've accepted it as a bug and hence fixed it in IE8). The point here is since the 'SCRIPT' tag itself is a part of DOM, should it be allowed to do something like this? Should it even exist after such an operation? Edit: Firefox, Opera, IE9 etc. do not remove the 'script' tag if I run the above code. But, document.getElementsByTagName('script').length returns 0! To understand what I mean, add alert(document.getElementsByTagName('script').length); before and after document.body.removeChild(document.getElementsByTagName('div')[0]); in the code above.

  • Run a script as root from apache

    - by Lord Loh.
I would like to update my hosts file and restart dnsmasq from a web interface (php/apache2). I tried playing around with suid bits (the demonstaration). I have both apache and dnsmasq running on an EC2 instance. I understand that Linux ignores the setuid bit on text scripts, but works on binary files. (Have I got something wrong?). I added exec("whoami"); to the example C program in Wikipedia. Although the effective UID of the C program is 0, whoami does not return root :-( I would thoroughly like to avoid echo password | sudo service dnsmasq restart or adding apache to the sudoers without password! Is there a way out? How does webmin do such things?

  • Script to restart server when no user is remotely connected

    - by RitonLaJoie
I'm looking for something special : here is a windows server that is used for development by 4/5 people remotely working on it through remote control. I'm installing Visual Studio 2010 on it, and the installation won't continue until the server has been restarted. I'm looking for a way to reboot when the server is idle (when nobody is connected through remote desktop on it) so that the reboot doesn't bug anyone. Is there some software that can do that ? Thanks !

  • Custom punctuation function making script run over the php's 60s runtime limit

    - by webmasters
I am importing allot of product data from an XML file (about 5000 products). When I run the script I can make it work in about 10-12 seconds. Now, when I add this punctuation function which makes sure each product description ends with a punctuation sign, the code runs until the php 60 seconds loadtime on my server but I'm not getting any errors. I have error reporting turned on. I just get a final error that the script could not load in 60 seconds. The question is, looking at this function, is it that resource consuming? What can I do to make it faster? function punctuation($string){ if(strlen($string) > 5){ // Get $last_char $desired_punctuation = array(".",",","?","!"); $last_char = substr($string, -1); // Check if $last_char is in the $desired_punctuation array if(!in_array($last_char, $desired_punctuation)){ // strip the $mytrim string and get only letters at the end; while(!preg_match("/^[a-zA-Z]$/", $last_char)){ $string = substr($string, 0, -1); $last_char = substr($string, -1); } // add "." to the string $string .= '.'; } } return $string; } If the function is ok, the long runtime must come from something else which I'll have to discover. I just want your input on this part.

  • Lotto program doesn't stop

    - by Naseyb Yaramis
    So I'm making a lotto game. You have to enter 6 lucky numbers and if they're the same as the lotto numbers then you win. Here is my code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; namespace OefeningExaam { class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Random getal = new Random(); int[] lottotrekking = new int[6]; Console.WriteLine("Geef je geluksgetallen in <tussen 1 en 42>"); Console.WriteLine("Geef je eerste getal in"); int getal1 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); Console.WriteLine("Geef je tweede getal in"); int getal2 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); Console.WriteLine("Geef je derde getal in"); int getal3 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); Console.WriteLine("Geef je vierde getal in"); int getal4 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); Console.WriteLine("Geef je vijfde getal in"); int getal5 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); Console.WriteLine("Geef je zesde getal in"); int getal6 = Convert.ToInt32(Console.ReadLine()); while (getal1 != lottotrekking[0] || getal2 != lottotrekking[1] || getal3 != lottotrekking[2] || getal4 != lottotrekking[3] || getal5 != lottotrekking[4] || getal5 != lottotrekking[4] || getal6 != lottotrekking[5]) { for (int i = 0; i < lottotrekking.Length; i++) { int cijfer = getal.Next(1, 43); lottotrekking[i] = cijfer; Console.WriteLine(lottotrekking[0] + "\t " + lottotrekking[1] + "\t " + lottotrekking[2] + "\t " + lottotrekking[3] + "\t " + lottotrekking[4] + "\t " + lottotrekking[5]); } } if (getal1 == lottotrekking[0] && getal2 == lottotrekking[1] && getal3 == lottotrekking[2] && getal4 == lottotrekking[3] && getal5 == lottotrekking[4] && getal5 == lottotrekking[4] && getal6 == lottotrekking[5]) { Console.WriteLine(lottotrekking[0] + " " + lottotrekking[1] + " " + lottotrekking[2] + " " + lottotrekking[3] + " " + lottotrekking[4] + " " + lottotrekking[5]); } Console.ReadLine(); } } } The problem is that the program just keeps going and doesn't stop. It's supposed to stop when the lucky numbers are the same as the lotto numbers.
